In the bird world, there is one parrot in particular that has demanded the affection and notoriety of bird lovers. Alex the African grey parrot dedicated 30 years of his life to Dr. Irene Pepperberg and her research at the Alex Foundation, and now enthusiasts everywhere can take part in their adventures in science.

Alex and Me, written by Pepperberg, unravels a tale that spans past the investigation of animal intelligence to a deep relationship. The book hits bookstores October 28, 2008. Copies that are pre-ordered through the Alex Foundation will be signed by Pepperberg and shipped on the release date.

Alex and Me, published by Harper Collins Publishers, will be available for $24.95. For more information, visit the Alex Foundation website.

As her second book, Pepperberg said she is looking forward to its release. Her first book, The Alex Studies, was released in 1999.
