The ALS ice bucket challenge has taken the Internet by storm, and that's helped spring new ideas to help parrots, specifically blue-throated macaws. Barbara Heidenreich of Good Bird, Inc, recently released a video to "Go Blue for Blue-Throated Macaws."

Watch below:

In her video, Barbara Heidenreich says, "Dye your hair blue to help raise awareness for blue-throated macaw conservation. If you accept the challenge, you get to challenge more people. If you choose not to dye your hair, please donate to The Bird Endowment, an organization working to save blue-throated macaws in the wild. There are less than 300 blue-throated macaws left in the wild. I am starting this campaign to help raise funds and awareness for parrot conservation."

Have you gone blue? Let us know in the comments, and send us your pictures and videos if you've gone blue!

While this is a commendable "campaign" to bring awareness, I'd rather see people put their money where their mouths are. Apparently that is NOT happening on the AFA Facebook page because there has been nothing but silence when I posted this link about another highly endangered parrot.

Brazilian Authorities and organizations are encouraged to relinquish captive Vinaceous Amazons (Amazona vinacea) for a reintroduction project in the Araucárias National Park, Santa Caterina, where this species is almost extinct.

So who is going to step up to the plate and put their money where their mouth is?
