The African Lovebird Society (ALBS), a 30-year-old club for lovebird breeders, exhibitors and pet owners, announced the opening of its second annual ALBS Pet Writing Contest. Submissions must be received by December 15, 2006.
Writers in three categories — adult, K through 7th grade and 8th through 12th grade — should share their stories about their lovebirds’ unique personalities, adventures or amusing antics – anything that makes their lovebird special. First, second and third place winners in each category will receive a package of prizes donated by ALBS members and sponsors. Some of these prizes include bird cages, playgyms, travel carriers, MP3 players, bird toys, treats, books and BIRD TALK subscriptions. Winning entries will be published in the ALBS Journal and posted on the ALBS website.
E-mail written entries along with two photos of the featured lovebird to firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no word limit. Winners will be notified by January 5, 2007. For more information, visit www.africanlovebirdsociety.com.
