Honor Thy Bird Sitter

This week celebrates our pet caregivers.

How will you celebrate National Professional Pet Sitters Week?
Parrot owners across the U.S. are celebrating National Professional Pet Sitters Week with gifts of thanks to their bird sitters.

Send a card or a bouquet of flowers and give praise to the people in your life who devote themselves to helping care for your pet bird while far away from home. March 2 to 8, 2008, marks National Professional Pet Sitters Week, and pet owners around the country are gearing up to thank those trusted individuals who have committed time, hard work and dedication to their pets.

Pet sitting has become one of the Top 10 professions in the past decade, according to the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). Pet ownership in the United States is on the rise and, according to the American Pet Products Association, the current pet population includes 16 million birds.

When choosing a professional pet sitter, owners should consider whether the service provider has commercial liability insurance and should obtain references and literature fully describing the provider’s services and fees.
