Australian Parakeet PHOTO GALLERY

The diversity of Australia’s flora and fauna extends to its impressive list of native colorful parakeets, which include several genera. The Australian grass parakeets, as their often called, are more often found in aviaries than as a single pet inside a home, although there are exceptions. The Bourke’s, Princess of Wales and the rock pebbler parakeets all make good pets when well-socialized. They’re friendly and relatively quiet. You’ll also see the many mutations of the red-rumped (Psephotus) and the scarlet-chested (Neophema) in aviaries. .
