Black-Cheeked Lovebird Species Profile
Traits:  The black-cheeked lovebird has distinctive markings, including mainly green plumage, an orange patch on the breast, a brown head and black face, and a white ring around the eye. This species is a fairly small bird. While the black-cheeked lovebird is not commonly kept as a pet, in general, lovebirds are active, social birds that can be well-socialized. They are uncommon in aviculture and currently are uncommonly kept as pets.

Behavior/Health Concerns:  Lovebirds seem to love tearing up paper, and when kept indoors and the mating season is year-round, their desire to tear up paper can be constant. Providing safe shredding materials allows a good outlet for them. They can be quite vocal. Fruits and vegetables should be a part of their diet.
