There are several parrots in the Cyanoramphus genus: C. novaezelandiae, C. auriceps, C. malherbi, C. unicolor. The majority of kakriki species and subspecies are endangered or critically endangered in the wild. Finding one as a pet can be a challenge; however, they are wonderful pets. They are curious, active birds that want to explore everything around them, but they may not like cuddling and petting as much as other pet birds. .
