Noble Macaw Species Profile
Traits:  The noble macaw is fearless and enjoys testing boundaries, but this pet bird will win you over with its playful manner and comical nature. Owners describe noble macaws as inquisitive. The noble macaw is an intelligent bird that can be easily handled, regardless of experience. The noble macaw is also an active pet that will happily take part in family activities and daily routines around the house. Being attention-loving birds, the noble macaw can be trained to be a wonderful companion bird. These birds are ideal for someone looking for a macaw without the intimidation of a large beak. Noble macaws needs plenty of toys and bird-safe tree branches to climb and chew on.

Behavior/Health Concerns:  Noble macaws require a diet that is higher in fat than other parrots, so provide a healthy diet that consists of pellets, fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. To monitor your pet bird’s diet place food portions in separate dishes. They are prolific chewers and are susceptible to overgrown beaks, so provide plenty of hard toys for them to chew on. They are also susceptible to papillomas, proventricular dilatation disease (PDD), polyomavirus, psittacosis and vitamin-A sensitivity. Regular bathing with a plant mister or with you in the shower will encourage preening and add glow to a noble macaw’s plumage.
