 Size:  Large, up to 18 inches
 Native Region:  South America
 Life Expectancy:  up to 30 years
 Noise Level:  Moderate to loud

Patagonian Conure Species Profile
Traits:  One of the larger of the species, Patagonian conures can be demanding, but will charm you with their handsome looks and cuddly nature. Owners have noticed the Patagonian conure differs from other conures because it takes longer to settle in during the evening. Because they are social birds in the wild, the Patagonian conure breed best in captivity when several pairs are housed together. As a pet bird, the Patagonian conure is affectionate, loveable and will sometimes demand attention. They are active and endearing companion birds with a mischievous and comical streak. This pet birds likes to take part in daily household routines and allowing them to participate helps their behavior and emotional well-being.

Behavior/Health Concerns:  Patagonian conures require a larger cage than other species of conures. These busy pet birds need plenty of entertainment and interaction. Feather picking and susceptibility to the usual psittacine diseases can become health concerns with the Patagonian conure. Bad biting or screaming behavior can be avoided if Patagonian conures are given out-of-the-cage time, even if just for short periods several times throughout the day.
