Traits: Red-fronted macaws can be affectionate parrots. Red-fronted macaws are excellent talkers, although their voices sound bird-like (not perfect imitators like African greys) and they tend to speak when they want to, not upon request. They quickly learn tricks and bond closely with their pet bird caregivers. The red-fronted macaw is highly endangered in the wild, with an approximate population of 150 birds; however, red-fronted macaws have been successfully bred in captivity.
Behavior/Health Concerns: Red-fronted macaws are strong flyers and because they are active, large cages with a lot of toys for entertainment are essential.
