Rosella Rosella Resources
Rosella PHOTO GALLERY

Most rosellas are kept as aviary birds, because they can be prone to aggressive behavior and are a bit standoffish. If hand-raised and well-socialized, however, some rosellas make beautiful, charming pet birds. These Australian parrots have gorgeous coloring and love to play and climb around their spacious cage or aviary. Six species (and numerous subspecies) belong to the rosella genus, Platycercus, but the golden-mantled and Eastern rosella are the most common in U.S. aviculture.
