Canary Radio Shows: (noun) From the late 1930s to the early 1950s, the American Radio Warblers (song canaries) sang along with an organ on live radio broadcasts. This Chicago-based radio show could be heard on Sundays at different times. These recordings, produced by Arthur C. Barnett, can still be found on 78-RPM records. The primary theme music for the broadcast was Tales from the Vienna Woods by Johann Straus Jr. The Hartz Mountain Radio Canaries was also a 1940s radio show that featured the Hartz Mountain Radio Canaries, an organ and a violin. The Hartz Mountain Master Radio Canaries released both a single and an EP: Come Back to Sorrento/Moonlight Madness and a 7” EP called the Canary Training Record on the Hartz Mountain Products label.
