Canary Radio Shows: (noun) From the late 1930s to the early 1950s, the American Radio Warblers (song canaries) sang along with an organ on live radio broadcasts. This Chicago-based radio show could be heard on Sundays at different times. These recordings, produced by Arthur C. Barnett, can still be found on 78-RPM records. The primary theme music for the broadcast was Tales from the Vienna Woods by Johann Straus Jr. The Hartz Mountain Radio Canaries was also a 1940s radio show that featured the Hartz Mountain Radio Canaries, an organ and a violin. The Hartz Mountain Master Radio Canaries released both a single and an EP: Come Back to Sorrento/Moonlight Madness and a 7” EP called the Canary Training Record on the Hartz Mountain Products label. The second song on the record with "Come Back to Sorrento" is actually "Moonlight Madonna", not "Moonlight Madness". It is also worth noting that on the red pressing of that record has "Sorento 2" inscribed near the run-out groove.

I should know, I own that little gem.

My great grandmother had canaries in her kitchen in the 40's and early 50's. As a child-I loved listening to them when visiting her. Does anyone have an idea where to find recordings from this time frame without music? Thanks so much for any help-I love my Tweety!

My blue canary and I used to listen to the Hartz Mountain Canaries when I was a kid in Long Beach CA around 1947.
