The CBC test is one of the most important tests your avian veterinarian can perform on your pet bird.

CBC: (noun) An acronym for Complete Blood Count. In regard to birds, this is a basic test that all pet birds should have run when they go for a checkup. It can be run on all birds no matter how large or small. It looks at the red and white blood cell counts and can tell you if your bird is anemic, dehydrated, has parasites in blood stream, lead toxicosis, stress, types of cancer, bacterial or fungal infections, etc. A small amount of blood is drawn from the bird for the test.
