Stress Bars: Bird Term of the Day

Stress bars are caused by physical stressors in the body
If you notice dark bars along your bird's feathers, take it to your avian veterinarian.

Stress bars: (noun) Black lines that go across your bird’s feathers, which appear uniformly across each feather. They happen when the feather’s normal growth is disrupted by a physical stressor in the body, such as disease or malnutrition.

Feathers will tell you how bird is feeling even if your bird won't!

Wow, I have seen birds that have those dark lines in Pet Stores and in Bird Shows...thankfully, my Joey has NEVER had those, but now I am glad I know what that means and what I need to do if I see that!!
