I was in need of a new home following the health decline of my first and still-loved "Faye & Dale" (I still talk about them and carrying on conversations I used to hear them have). I appreciate the home I have now but I'll always miss my first family..

Active within 4 Days Hi! My name is Saber of the McFlock, a Proud SILVER SLUGGER I am a Congo African Grey from Monmouth, IL. Pigeon 22 years old M Congo African Grey Crackers, of course. Almonds, pecans, and grapes are also a hit. In my human brother's room while he's on his computer. The back of a barstool while the family's eating. Smaller birds acting like they own the place. My mom has always treated me with the honor that comes with being The First Parrot; I am greeted first in the morning, fed first in the morning, given the option to socialize outside of my room first. Is this to be answered by my definition of 'quirky' or my mom's? Come on, what bird would define any of their natural habits as quirky.. Be nice at least until dinner's been served..

...yesterday? Wow, that was some game! Really made me swell up with pride for my old team mates from the Pois'N Dem team.

Of course, everybird would go with us! We could charter our own plane!
Today was a cool 65 degrees but, we had sun. No t-storm today, so far!
I will be offline on Friday and Saturday. We have company for the Kentucky Oaks and our annual Kentucky Derby party is the following day. I should be back on the BC on Sunday. Don’t forget to watch the Kentucky Oaks on NBC Friday 5-6PM EDT and the Kentucky Derby on Saturday 4-7PM EDT also on NBC. Wishing the contenders a safe ride. RIDER’S UP!

Hey Saber! Greyt Job You've Been Doin' As Catcher
....& helping bat some grounders for practice! Just wanted to let you know your hard work has already been noticed & noted! I thought we'd slip another practice in tomorrow. That's Friday, May 3rd.

I'm going to also be having a BBQ Sunday for all the teams. It will be a nice way to be ALL friends before we buckle down & get all serious in playing baseball. The whirlpool will also be opened for use for anybirdy and also, it might just be a lot of fun to play a game of ball that's just "play". There's swings out there, too, near the BBQ area. Hopefully, it will help remind ourselves this is for "fun" and that we're all friends with each other.

The Scruffy Birds will be there, of course, because that's where they all live!! So, there will be music & dancin' if any birds want to do that instead of a game of baseball! Hahaha!

You're welcomed anytime you can make it! Sorry that the deer have been rather bold lately. Once the fawns start coming, they'll try to keep them in the woods where it's safer. But those little ones like running in the cleared out part! They run kicking up the hind legs just like foals will do! Seeing deer play chase is a greyt way to bring a smile to your beak! You just can't help yourself! Got a whirlpool brought in but it takes forever to fill with water & since that water is coming from a very DEEP well, it's very very cold. So, another night & maybe tomorrow it will be warm enough to get these sore muscles limbered up again!

We all roosted in today including mom, so deep cleaning and room service is running behind today. That's ok because the party week was fabulous! Mom had the birdsitter drop me off at the practices so that went well. Those breakfasts that the coach organized were incredible! Glad you had a greyt time at the party! Yep, she has it bad. I have to remind her where her water is ALL the time. She'd lose her head if it weren't attached. I think "they" made up that common saying because Mom lived it all the time. Regarding the Derby, I guess I didn't realize there was so much one needed to know about The Sport of Kings, and I'm glad we have Queen Chyna to guide us trough the maze! Many of us got the word from the Kommish, that baseball season would be officially starting on Monday May the 1st, and if memory serves me correctly, the Rain Forest Raiders will be pitted against Jake and Ranebeau's Mighty Macaws in the first game, tough way to start the 2013 campaign! A.A.A.D.D.- KNOW THE SYMPTOM!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.

Age-Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table, Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, And notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back On the table and take out the garbage first...

But then I think, Since I'm going to be near the mailbox When I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, And see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, So I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, But first I need to push the Pepsi aside So that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, And I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, A vase of flowers on the counter Catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Pepsi on the counter and Discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, But first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, But first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, But quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, Get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to Remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
The car isn't washed,
The bills aren't paid,
There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter,
The flowers don't have enough water,
There is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, And I'm really tired.

We got to 71 yesterday! WHOO HOOO Today is just perfect with sunshine, blue skies and pecans and apples! It just doesn't get any better than this!! I am enjoying every minute of it! The rain comes back tonight or tomorrow but I have the day!

I hope it's not too long before you can all get out to the aviary. I know you miss it!

Tips And Tricks
From The Desk Of Jetta

Bed Pillows

Wash them: Most pillows can be machine-washed and –dried; check the label. Set the washer on the gentle cycle, and wash in hot water using a mild liquid detergent (powder and leave residue). Wash two regular-size pillows together to balance the load (king-size ones should go one at a time). Run pillows through the rinse cycle twice.

Dry them: Place pillows in the dryer along with two clean tennis balls, and set on low heat. Polyester- or cotton-filled pillows take one to two hours to dry; down requires two to three hours, sometimes longer. To prevent overheating, remove the pillow regularly, fluff and return.

Check for dryness: It’s imperative to dry down pillows completely to prevent mold and mildew from growing. After two hours, remove them from the dryers, let cool, then squeeze several spots on the pillows between two fingers. If there is any moistness or clumps, return them to the dryer.

Clean: Every three to six months.

Good morning. We will be blogging Tuesdays instead of Wednesday because the parront now has something to do on Wednesdays. It has been raining lately. The airport is slow. She only works 25 hours a week now. Baby and I have been free more time however when she is at home she is doing household shores. She is always busy. Baby and I spent most of the time preening our feathers.

From The Desk Of Jetta:

Unleash the power of white vinegar?an all-purpose cleaner, brightener, herbicide and more. Just a bit of this multitasker, straight up or mixed with water, can replace many pricier products huddled under your sink. Try these tips to see how vinegar can make your life cheaper and easier.

1. Freshen up the fridge. Clean the shelves and walls with a solution of half water and half vinegar.

2. Brighten coffee cups and teacups. Gently scrub stains with equal parts vinegar and salt (or baking soda).

3. Eliminate odors. Swab plastic containers with a cloth dampened with vinegar.

4. Kill bathroom germs. Spray full-strength vinegar around the sink and tub. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

5. Save a garment. To remove light scorch marks on fabrics, rub gently with vinegar. Wipe with a clean cloth. This technique also works on antiperspirant stains.

6. Tidy up a toilet. Pour a cup or more of diluted white distilled vinegar into the bowl. Let sit several hours or overnight. Scrub well with a toilet brush and flush.

7. Lose the carpet stain. Make a paste of 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar and ¼ cup salt or baking soda. Rub into the stain and let dry. Vacuum the residue the next day. (Always test an out-of-sight part of the carpet first.)

8. Renew paint brushes. To remove old paint, place brushes in a pot with vinegar. Soak for an hour, then turn on the stove and bring the vinegar to a simmer. Drain and rinse clean.

9. Wipe off a dirty faucet. To get rid of lime buildup, make a paste of 1 teaspoon vinegar and 2 tablespoons salt. Apply to sink fixtures and rub with a cloth.

10. Stop static cling. Add ½ cup of white distilled vinegar to your wash cycle. The acid reduces static and keeps dryer lint from sticking to your clothes.

Ooh - Silver Sluggers! That is a GREAT name for your baseball team! Sounds like a winner to me! But of course the White Hawks will give you a run for your money! hehehe!
Little Lima is doing pretty well. My parronts had a lot of trouble tube feeding her - mostly becos they can't find a tube small enough! But the day after the accident, she started scooping up food on her own - yogurt and baby food and stuff. She is doing a great job of eating that. And she had medicine too and somebirdy said to put pedialyte in her water so that is going on too. So we hope everything will work out ok even though she now looks pretty funny. And she's the one with only one foot too! Poor baby. I do feel bad it was my fault and mom said I knew it becos I was very quiet for a couple of days.

Wow, don't you look great in your baseball uniform. Mom just showed me my pic and said I looked very dashing. Made me blush. Thank you for your kind offer to nominate me for BOTD. I would kind of like that. My fister has had that honor a couple of times so I would like to have that badge for myself too. Not that I am jelouse of her or anything like that. LOL. Mom wants to know how you nominate someone? She knows that there used to be a page on the BC but has lost track of it. Hope to see you at practice soon. Caden

PS. My BBQ party was wonderful. I was the center of attention which put MM's beak out of joint I think. She really embarrassed me when she flew down to the coffee table and started helping herself to potato chips. The guests all thought it cute but Mom was not amused I can tell you. Hehehe

I feel horrible, but now I understand what all those strange things that were happening yesterday were all about. Mom went out last night, but it hit me this morning, but mom was cleaning cages. Lee-Roial had stopped by to get my attention, to tell me to get over to the computer and congratulate you from her and well from me too. However did she know... I know you had a fantastic time at the castle, and with Chyna there as Queen of the Month, I bet you had a blast! See you soon!

SABER!!! AWWK!! Those blasted SQUAWK-A-TIELS!!!
Oh my! Oh NO! They stole my blog to you!! Rassin' frassin' frassin' rassin'! Those pip-squeaks first stole Poppy's page! Then I came here and let you know I thought her page had been birdnapped & that, like a coward, when I saw those sqawkatiels, I flew straight back to my cage and WENT INSIDE!!! Hey, twice NOW!! TWICE, I've been deleted!! I was afraid they were about to snatch me AGAIN!! But I birded up, I flew back to her page to look for her. SHE'S THERE!!! Saber, I'm going every where while looking over my shoulder! Gracious sakes! Those squawk-a-tiels are on the prowl! Be careful today!

Why I was coming by was just to let you know, I've been trying to post the Practice Schedule for next week but the crazy BC won't let me put it in the "How we met" section. So, it is "PRACTICE", I thought it was fitting for it to be put under "quirky habits" section. If you go to the Team Page, you'll see it to the right. It's only every other day and I'm giving the weekends off since many birds & parronts do their cleaning and errands on those weekend days. Under each day you will find what we're suppose to practice for the day. All you have to do is go to the Team Page and practice like we're at Kevlar Field. ONLY for practice do we do that. You don't have to be there with all the other team mates at the same time. For some birds that is impossible, so just blog a little bit or two about practice and you're good to go.
