 I had visited Nassau in the Bahamas in the Spring of 2004 and they had just lost their female eclectus to egg binding. On the way home I decided to donate a female to them to replace her. I breed the eclectus parrot. It took a lot of perseverance to get her there, but worth it in the end. She is so happy. She is at the Ardastra Zoo in Nassau and if you ever visit, be sure to go there. They have so many different species of parrots in breeding programs and you even get to go in with the lories and feed them out of your hand. They also have the pink marching flamingos. Go---you won't be sorry. Akuti is on exibit with Rhett, her mate.. |

Akuti the female Eclectus
I go back to Nassau every year to see Akuti. (Good excuse) I was there in March,, 2008 and she was on eggs. Don't think they were fertile, but she is getting with the action anyway. She came out of the box when she heard my voice and walked over to the wire and gave me a little kiss thru it. Rhett her mate, came over as well and gave her a BIG kiss. I actually have a travel cage like you were telling me about. I love it! EXCEPT when it takes me to the VET! I've been all sorts of places with my mom... The beach, out to see some covered bridges (she's a photographer) and even out with her when she was campaigning for a friend!Come visit me, Sunny.

Oooooh! My mommy and grandma were just in the Bahamas in November on a cruise. They didn't go to the zoo BUT if they ever go back on another cruise I'll be sure to tell them to come say hello to you!!!! Come visit me, Sunny.
