I saw cockatiels in the local pet store, and was about to buy, when my sister in law told me about a family friend that breeds them. So she called him and got two for me and my family for Christmas. Awards

  Learning the new family.
Well, we have had Lucy and Ethel for about a week and a half. We don't know much about their history other than the breeder is a family friend (from the in laws) and that we believe Lucy and Ethel are two females. Not even sure of their age just yet, but believe they are still young. I don't believe they were hand fed, simply because anyone gets too close and they go to hissing and biting or at least trying to bite. If anyone out there reads this and knows the best way to get new birds happy with their owners. Any advice would be great. I don't want to seem impatient. Just these are our first birds and don't know how soon they will warm up to us and surely want to give them they time they need.

Thanks for reading!
Kristen, Lucy and Ethel
