I was in the right place at the right time kind of bird. See my mommy and daddy were very sad, after recently losing a dear cockatiel, they went to a pet store and saw a bird fair poster, they decided to get another faithful friend for Sweetpea - I was that bird. At the bird fair, I was sitting in my cage with a few other birds just waiting for a good family and i saw my new mommy approach cautiously and she asked if i could be held and i went right to her chest and did not want to come off - she made a few phone calls and took my picture to e-mail to my daddy and that was it - i was sold - i went home that afternoon to a wonderful family..

AS YOU NO DOUBT ALREADY KNOW OUR DEAR CO-FOUNDER NORMAN RECENTLY RAN FOR BOTM, AND LARGELY BECAUSE HIS MOM MOVED IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS CAMPAIGN HE WAS UNABLE TO PROPERLY DO THE POLITICAL MANUEVERS NECESSARY FOR A VICTORY. HE LOST, AND WE ARE ALL VERY SADDENED BY THIS. IT IS A LOSS FOR ALL OF US.
THEREFORE IT IS MY PROPOSAL, SECONDED BY ASHA, THAT WE DECLARE NORMAN THE "BIRDY BASEBALL'S TOP BIRD". THIS IS NOT THRU BC, BUT THRU OUR OWN GROUP OF PLAYERS AND FANS. PLEASE POST YOUR SUPPORT ON THE BIRDY BASEBALL LEAGUE PAGE #123746, SO NORMAN WILL KNOW THAT HE IS TRULY LOVED AND RECOGNIZED BY HIS FELLOW BIRDIES.

A special day, a special memorial
Before today's game, both teams met at the centerfield wall to hang a memorial plaque to honor our fallen BC players. This was an especially poignant moment, and Kaji and Calico from the Pois, and Lola and Sam from the Sennies saluted the Kevlar Keets Betty, Lattie, and Pebbles by releasing butterflies in their memory.

The game results:

The Super Senegals took on the Da Pois'N'Dem in today’s match up.

In the 1st inning the Sennies scored 4 runs when NY Mango and Lola scored when Sam hit a HR followed by Max and Lars combining for 1.

The Sennies would add 1 run in the 2nd with Kiwiwee’s solo HR.

The Pois would finally get on the board in the 3rd when Nippy scored when Jack hit a double to make the score 5-1 Sennies.

In the 4th, the Sennies were “Super” scoring 8 runs including HRs by Lola, Pico and Ziggy, doubles by Sam, Lars, Kiwiwee, and Kermit and singles by AZ Mango and Nanje. The Pois would load the bases with Angel, Oliver and Romeo and Angel would score off of the single by Rafiki but with bases still loaded, they could not capitalize.

With the score 14-2 Sennies, the Sennies saw only 1 run with back to back triples by EA and Sam as the Pois would be blanked until the 9th inning. The Sennies would pad their lead in the next 4 innings scoring 8 runs.

Trailing 22-2, the Pois offense would finally show signs of life in the 9th scoring 4 runs with hits by Tiki, Nippy, Hal, George and Jack but the hole was too deep.

Final Score: Super Sennies 22, Da Pois'N'Dem 6.

Everyone did a great job and we played well. Those Sennies have been on a roll--they have won the last three games they played. But everyone had fun, and it was quite a sight to see the teams rooting for each others players! After the game, the teams both met at the Dragon Cave for drinks and snacks, served by the ever gracious Lizzie.

Next time we will do better!

Almost 50 Runs Scored!!!

High scoring games continued as the Macaws took on the Pois. The scoring started big early as the Macaws scored 6 runs with hits by Marley, Malachite, Captain Mac, Hootie, Floop, Baby, Tuki and Ms. Presley. The Pois would come right back with 5 runs with hits by Junior, Rafiki, Calico, Kaji, Tiki and Nippy.

In the 3rd, Captain Mac scored when Hootie hit a HR but the Pois would come within 1 run when Oliver hit a solo HR followed by Romeo and Junior scoring when Molli hit a HR.

In the 5th, the Pois would tie the score when George hit a triple and scored when Apollo hit a single.

In the 6th, the Macaws were held scoreless as the Pois went on a rampage. Singles by Rafiki, Nippy, Jack, Angel and Mongo, doubles by Junior and Calico, triples by Kaji and HRs by Apollo, Hal and George would result in 10 runs.

The Macaws would start the comeback in the 7th with 3 runs with Rio’s solo HR followed by Jake scoring when Indy hit a HR to make the score 20-14 Pois.

In the 8th, and Macaws would tie the game with hits by Louie, Captain Mac, Hootie, Floop, Lucky, Rio and Alex and 2 HRs by Ms. Presley and Tuki. But the Pois would come right back with 5 runs with hits by Tiki, Nippy, George, Jack, Apollo and Mongo.

Trailing 25-20, the Macaws would open the 9th with a single by Indy followed by Marley’s double. Malachite and Louie would follow with singles and Captain Mac’s triple would clear the bases.

But that would be 1 run short for the Macaws. Final Score: Da Pois “N” Dem 25, Mighty Macaws 24.

Well team, we played hard, but they played harder. Come to the Milonga tonight on Rocky's page (16847) to commiserate. It was a good game and we have nothing to be ashamed of.

KNIGHTS STROLL TO VICTORY
The CAGs offense was hot early scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning with singles by Omar, Poirot, Tahoe, Picasso and Pepper and a triple by Susie. The Pois would keep it close scoring 2 when Hal and George scored when Apollo hit a triple. The scoring continued in the 2nd as the Knights saw Kelly and Omar score when Robbie hit a triple followed by a solo HR by Suzie. Once again the Pois would come back scoring 3 when Oliver and Romeo scored when Junior hit a HR to make the score 7-5 CAGs. The Pois would tie the score in the 3rd with a string of singles by Kaji, Nippy, Hal, George and Jack. CAGs dodged a potentially big inning leaving the Pois with bases loaded. In the 4th, the Knights would retake the lead scoring 6 runs. Robbie would open with a solo HR. Amanda would score after singles by Poirot and Susie. Gizmo would hit a single to load the bases for the CAGs and 1 more run would score with a single by Picasso. With bases still loaded, Pepper would step up to the plate and hit a Grand Slam HR to make the score 13-7. The Pois could only answer with 1 run when Angel scored when Mongo hit a single. The teams would trade runs in the 5th each scoring 2. The CAGs saw back to back HRs by Kelly and Omar. Pois Calico would also hit a solo HR followed by Molli scoring when Kaji hit a double. The Knights would continue to add to their score in the 6th as the single-a-rama started with Gizmo, followed by Picasso, Casey, Kelly, Robbie, Omar and Amanda. The Pois would score 2 runs with triples by Jack and Apollo and a single by Oliver to make the score 20-12 CAGs. In the 7th, the Knights would add 4 more runs with hits by Tahoe, Picasso, Pepper, Casey, Kelly, Robbie and Omar as the Pois saw Rafiki score when Molli hit a HR. The 8th inning saw 1 run added to the scoreboard, Poirot’s solo HR giving the CAGs a commanding 25-14 lead with 1 inning to play. In the 9th Pepper would score when Casey hit a HR. Robbie, Omar and Poirot would load the bases but fortunately for the Pois, no more runs would cross the plate. Pois Angel would open the inning with a solo HR but the deficit was too great. Final Score: CAGs Knights in Grey 27, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 15.

TIELS AND POIS BATTLE IN SEESAW GAME

With the 2nd half of the season just underway, a big question is: “Will the Tiel Terrors continue to dominate?” Hopefully the Pois would have something to say today.

In the 1st inning the Tiels were blanked as the Pois took an early 2-0 lead off the bats of Angel, Oliver and Romeo.

In the 2nd, the Tiels got rolling scoring 4 runs with a triple by Mr. BB, a double by Honey and a sting of singles by Jaspa, Mikey, Canyon, Dewey and Smokey. Pois Molli and Tiki would combine for 1 run to make the score 4-3.

In the 3rd, the Pois would retake the lead 5-4 with triples by Hal, George and Apollo.

In the top of the 4th, the Tiels came right back scoring 2 runs with solo HRs by Grover and Mikey. They would then load the bases with Mr. BB, Honey and Buddy but the Pois defense stopped a potentially huge inning. Pois Oliver’s solo HR would tie the game at 6 with 5 innings to play.

In the 5th, the seesaw game would continue as the Tiels scored 2 runs when Kacey scored off of Maxie’s HR. Hal’s solo HR would make the score 8-7 Tiels.

In the 6th the lead would change once again when Apollo scored when Angel hit a HR with the Pois now leading 9-8.

In the 7th, Tiels Mikey and Mr. BB scored when Honey hit a triple but the Pois matched the 2 runs when Junior scored when Calico hit a HR.

With 2 innings left the Tiels were scoreless in the 8th as the Pois broke the game open scoring 5 runs with hits by Tiki, Nippy, Hal, George, Jack, Mongo and Oliver.

Trailing 16-10, the Tiels had singles by Dirito and Pierre to get the 9th started but the Pois defense was able to hold on.

Final Score: Da Pois'N'Dem 16, Tiel Terrors 10.

TOOS POUND POIS
The C-2 White Hawks got on the board early in the 1st inning when Vinnie, Ted and Romeo combined for 2 runs. The Pois stayed close when George scored after a series of singles by Jack, Apollo and Mongo but unfortunately left the bases loaded. The Toos stayed hot in the 2nd with opening triples by Cuddles and Sailor. Snuggles, Clyde, Vinnie and Ted would add to the run total but once again the Pois scored 2 when Romeo scored when Junior hit a HR to make the score 7-3. The big white birds could not be stopped in the next 3 innings scoring a whopping 17 runs. Cuddles, Sailor, Clyde and Snuggles had 3 hits each. 2 hits by Chico, Rocky PR, Cocoa, Christine Dijon and 1 hit from Ted, Vinnie and Romeo. The stunned Pois could not get on the scoreboard until the 6th inning with Molli’s solo HR followed by Tiki and Nippy scoring when Hal hit a HR while holding the Toos to just a single run. With the score 25-7, the Toos continued to score in the 7th adding 3 runs when Rocky PR and Clyde scored when Vinnie hit a HR. Pois Mongo and Angel added 1 in the 7th and Junior and Rafiki 1 more in the 8th as the Pois were finally able to blank the Toos for the rest of the game. Going into the bottom of the 9th and trailing 28-9, the Pois loaded the bases but by this time, all the wind had blown out of their sails. Final Score: C-2 White Hawk 28, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 9.

  Pois Pound Conquistadors
GREAT JOB, TEAM!!

The Pois broke out on top early and then coasted to a 17-7 over the Columbian Conquistadors on Thursday.
The Pois got on the board in the bottom of the second as Kaja and Tiki opened with singles. Nippy stroked a double to the gap in right center to chase home Kaja and then Hal got hold

of a hanging curveball and deposited it over the left field fence to give the Pois a 4-0 lead. The Zons got one run back in the top of the third but the Pois were back at work in the fourth

as George opened with a single. Junior stroked a triple to bring George home and then Calico followed with another three-bagger to score Junior. Molli singled home Calico and then Kaja

hit a home run to push the margin to 9-1.

The Pois defense got the Conquistadors out in order in the top of the fifth and their offense went back to work in the bottom of the inning. Hal doubled and scored on George’s double.

Romeo singled and Junior walked to load the bases. Rafiki singled in George and then Calico hit one long and deep to center field to clear the bases and give the Pois a 15-1 lead as they

cruised to the 17-7 victory.

Fred drove in two runs for the Zons while Ethyl, Pebbles, Sunshine, Fred the Elder, and Alfie all drove in runs.

Calico drove in five runs to lead the Pois. Hal drove in three, Kaja and Romeo two each and Nippy, Junior, Molli, George, and Rafiki one apiece.

A Special Request and the game results
Before I get to the game results, I have a very special request for our team. Next week, please do everything in your power to vote for Al Bird, #125141, for Bird of the Week. I asked Rocky if Al Bird could move up in the order for BOTW. Al Bird is not doing well, and it seems that maybe the last miracle has been used for him. I think it would be a wonderful thing to have him achieve Bird of the Week, especially since we don't know how long he will be able to be with us. Please, Please, PLease, vote for Al Bird next week! He is such a good bird, and really deserves this!!!

Now to the game:

OH NO! We thought we were playing the Keets, but instead we played the Senegal Savages! Cap'n Kaji found the note from the Commissioner this morning. And boo hoo, looks like the Sennies woke up after the stunning loss in the All-Star Game:

Senegal Savages Stay Focused
Being part of an All-Star game loss, the Senegal Savages were ready to get back on the winning track against the Pois. The Sennies took an early 3-0 lead when Sage and Peanut scored when Norman hit a HR while their defense shut out the Pois. In the 2nd, the Senegals added 2 runs with solo HRs by Kanye and Codie as the Pois got on the board when Molli scored when Kaji hit a single. In the 3rd, the Savages exploded for 7 runs with hits by Pippin, Niah, Peanut, Savannah, Kiddo and a solo HR by DJ and a Grand Slam HR by CoCo to take a 12-1 lead while blanking the Pois again. The scoring continued for the Sennies with 5 in the 4th with hits from Codie, Orion, Niah, Savannah and HRs from Sage and Pippin. The Pois offense would finally get going in the 4th scoring 6 runs with hits by Oliver, Angel, Mongo, Romeo, Junior, Rafiki, Calico and Tiki to make the score 17-7 Sennies. In the 5th, Norman scored when DJ hit a triple and the Pois added 1 with hits from Hal, George and Angel. In the 6th, the Pois defense would finally stop the Sennies and scored 3 runs with hits from Oliver, Romeo, Rafiki and Calico to make the score 19-11 Savages. In the 7th, Savannah hit a solo HR while Pois Tiki scored when Hal hit a HR. The Sennies were scoreless as the Pois scored 2 in the 8th when Apollo scored when Oliver hit a HR and took a 20-15 deficit into the 9th. The Sennies added 2 insurance runs when Orion scored when Niah hit a triple. The only offense the Pois could mount was a single by Molli and that was it. Final Score: Senegal Savages 22, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 15.

We'll do better next time!

RED TAILS TOO GOOD FOR POIS
The last game before the All-Star Break pitted the CAG Red Tail Killers vs the Da Pois ‘N’ Dem. The CAG defense was on the prowl early shutting out the Pois for the 1st 2 innings. The Pois returned the favor in the 1st but were unable to hold the CAGs in the 2nd. The CAGs broke lose for 7 runs with an opening HR by Gabriella. Shadow and Fawkes would then score when Miranda hit a HR. Mowgli, Sheba, Lucky, Layla and Munchin would add 4 more runs. The next 3 inning, it was the Pois defense that took charge holding the Cags scoreless and taking a 1 run lead scoring 3 runs each in the 3rd and 4th innings and another 2 in the 5th. Highlights were the 2 HR blasts by Rafiki and Apollo. The CAGs would retake the lead in the 6th scoring 3 runs when Shadow and Miranda scored when Grady hit a HR to lead 10-8. In the 7th, both teams scored 2 runs and matched each other again in the 8th to make the score 15-13. In the 9th Ruby, Gabriella and Shadow combined for 1 run which meant the Pois needed 3 to tie the game. The Pois tried for the long ball and were denied 3 times by the CAG outfield. Final Score: CAG Red Tail Killers 16, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 13.

  Hiya, Buttercup!
You sure are a pretty one! You probably heard from Ittybitty and SweetPea thatCoach Oliver's Mom was in the hospital since Thursday. She got an infection in her leg, and was on IV antibiotics. She is home now, but when I went to do my Tango lessons with Mango, found out about her Mom.

The game today was good, and the cheering was spectacular. But as good as we played, the TAGS were just that much better. Here is the play by play:

TAGs TOPPLE POISs
As the birdie growth hormone controversy emerged again, the TAGs and the Pois took the field. The Pois were the 1st to get on the scoreboard scoring 1 run in the 1st inning with hits from Angel, Oliver and Junior. TAGs Cesar and Sammy would hit singles but were unable to reach home. In the 2nd, the Pois added 2 runs when Molli scored when Kaji hit a HR. Scooter Pie and Pringle combined for 1 to make the score 3-1. Jack’s solo HR in the 3rd was the highlight of the 3rd. In the 4th, Mongo, Junior, Rafiki and Calico would combine for 3 runs as the TAGs were 1 run better with Bongo’s triple and a string of singles from Smokey, Scooter Pie, Pringle, Stormy, Cesar and Sammy to make the score 7-5 Pois. The Pois would add to their lead in the 5th scoring 5 runs off the bats of Tiki, Hal, George, Jack, Apollo, Angel, Mongo and Oliver. The TAGs could only answer with 1 run. Trailing 12-5, the TAGs needed to get something going soon. In the 6th, the TAG defense would shut out the Pois and score a whopping 8 runs including 2 Grand Slam HRs by Sammy and Scooter Pie to take a 13-12 lead. The Pois would come right back in the 7th scoring 5 runs with hits from the same exact birdies as the 5th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, the TAGs would break this close game wide open scoring 12 runs with the team hitting for the cycle. With the score 27-17, the Pois had some work to do. In the 8th and with bases loaded, Nippy hit a Grand Slam HR into right field followed by Hal’s HR. 1 more run would scored to make the score 26-23. The TAGs would fire back with 5 runs pretty much erasing the Pois comeback. In the 9th, the Pois saw Angel and Mongo get on base and score when Oliver hit a HR but the TAG lead was too much to overcome. Final Score: TAGS 31, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 25.

Here's a vote for you, too!!!

Quakers Pound Pois
All of Birdie Baseball was mystified over the change that had come over the once-lowly Little Dragon team. Once the doormat of the league, they had exploded for a pair of smashing victories. But it was thought the victory string would come to an end against the Pois on Thursday. Wrong! The Quakers roared again as they smashed the Pois 26-13.
The Quaker bats could not be stilled as they exploded for five runs in the second behind a three-run homer by Micky. They got five more runs in the fourth as Micky and Waddles each drove in two runs. The fifth inning saw another five runs cross the plate for the Dragons as Simon drove home three runs with a long ball. The final indignity for the Pois came in the seventh inning as the Quakers put nine runs on the board as Photon and Waddles each hit three-run blasts and Audie drove in a pair with a triple.
Rafiki led the Pois by driving in five runs. Junior, George, and Tiki pushed two runs across each while Nippy and Romeo drove in one apiece.
Micky led the winners as he drove in six big runs. Waddles drove in five, Audie and Simon four each, Photon three, Little Bit two, and Kiwi and Peter one apiece.

We have a game tomorrow, Thursday, May 21: Pois vs. Quakers

The Quakers are a tough team; we should all be ready to play (and cheer) our very hardest.

From our cheerleaders:

GO TEAM GO -- YOU ARE OUR POIS
ROCK 'EM! SOCK 'EM! POW! POW! POW!
Da Pois'n'Dem -- Da Pois, Our Pois
We got our name from some Brooklyn Boys,
We went to see 'em, we asked 'em how
We could manage to endow
Our team with all their know-how
About teaching someone to kow-tow.

This is what they said to us,
It is much better to sound boisterous
Than to seem to be timorous
Make those Quakers quake for us
Even if you must be villainous
'Cause you are Da Pois, Our Pois
GO TEAM GO -- YOU ARE OUR POIS
ROCK 'EM! SOCK 'EM! POW! POW! POW!

EXTRA INNINGS PROMOTE POIS TO WIN
The Kevlar Keet’s defense had on their bullet proof vests early shutting out the Pois for the first 2 innings. The Keets scored 3 runs in the 1st when Jazzy opened while a solo HR and then Duty, Lattie and Henry all hit triples to make the score 3-0. However, the little birdies were unable to increase their score in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Pois got on the scoreboard when Junior scored when Rafiki hit a HR. The Keets would come right back as Jazzy, Duty and Lattie combined for 2 to make the score 5-2. After a defense dominated 4th, the Pois came out swinging with singles from Jack, Apollo and Mongo, doubles from George and Romeo and Junior’s HR to take a 6-5 lead. The Keets would retake the lead in the 6th when Betty and Iris scored when Mr. Birdie hit a triple. The Keets would increase their lead in the 7th scoring 3 runs as Lattie, Turk and Henry loaded the bases and scored when Betty hit a triple. The Kevlar defense would shine again stopping the Pois and entered the 9th with a 10-8 lead. The Pois were determined to break through the Keet’s defensive shield and tied the game when Junior scored when Molli hit a HR. In extra innings, the Pois would break the tie when Tiki scored when Nippy hit a single and thne Hal hit a HR to take a 3 run lead. Keet Tweety would hit a double to get things started for the Keet but the Pois slammed the door shut. Final Score: Da Pois ‘N” Dem 13, Kevlar Keets 10.

Team, good news is we played hard and led for a long time. Then the Macaws woke up and just overpowered us. We'll do better next game.

MIGHTY MACAWS POLISH THE POIS
Macaw pitcher Rio has been very vocal about today’s game so it was time to put up or shut that beak. The Pois took it to Rio and the Macaws in the 1st inning scoring 5 runs with hits from Rafiki and Romeo and 3 smashing HR by Junior, Mongo and Molli. Lucky would score when Jake hit a triple but the Macaws found themselves behind 5-1. In the 2nd Tiki opened with a HR. Nippy would then hit a single and score on a HR by George. Macaw captain/catcher Lucky flew out to the mound to settle Rio down. Apollo would hit a single but the Macaws escaped the inning down 8-1 when the Macaws loaded the bases but failed to score. The next 7 innings saw flawless defense from the Macaws allowing only 8 hits and no runs but could the Pois hold own to their lead? In the 3rd, Floop hit a HR followed by Ms. Presley and Lucky combining for 1 more. In the 4th, Jake and Jasper would combine for 1 to make the score 8-4 Pois. More scoring came for the Macaws in the 6th with doubles by Louie and Hootie and singles by Captain Mac and Baby. The Macaws would tie the game in the 7th with 2 runs with hits by Lucky, Alex, Jake and Indy. Malachite and Louie would both hit HRs in the 8th to take their 1st lead of the game for the Macaws. 4 more runs would follow but that proved to be all they needed. Final Score: Mighty Macaws 14, Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 8.

I believe we can win this game -- we are depending on your cheers, so get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast. If you use vitamins, be sure to take them.

But no matter what the outcome, the Pois'n'Dem are the BEST and have the best cheerleaders in BC!!!.

The CAGs inched 2 more closer in the 5th with solo HRs by Amanda and Suzie but the Pois came right back matching the 2 runs with hits from George, Oliver, Jack and Mongo to make the score 18- 11. In the 6th, Gizmo and Kelly had solo HRs but the CAG comeback took a shot when the Pois came up to bat. Rafiki scored when Calico hit a HR. Then came a string of hits from Molli, Kaji, Tiki, Nippy George, Jack, Angel and Hal’s HR to lead 24-11. The 7th inning was quiet which meant the CAGs had 2 innings to catch up. In the 8th, Suzie scored when Tahoe hit a HR followed by Gizmo scoring with a HR shot by Pepper. But the Pois came back with 3 runs to make the score 29-18. In the 9th, Robbie hit a single and scored on Katie’s HR. Poirot and Gizmo would then get on base but were thrown out in a double play to end the game. Final Score: Da Pois ‘N’ Dem 29, CAG Grey Knights 20.

TraiLing by 4 runs, the Zons rallied in the 8th when Echo scored with Pocco’s HR followed by Andre and Aries reaching home with Stubby’s HR. Asha and BabyGirl would add 1 more to make the score 18-17 Zons. The Pois were determined to get the lead back and in the 8th, Captain Oliver’s HR would score Apollo and Junior to retake the lead 20-18.
