  It is with Great Sadness...
...That I am here to let you know that Betty, our right fielder, passed away last evening. Our team has lost yet another great player, the BC another sweet bird, and this blue boy, the love of his life.

Life has sad moments and this is one of them for me.

In honor of our fallen teammates the following message has been posted on the Baseball Page from The League Commissioner:

For the remainder of the season all Bird Channel Baseball League players, coaches, and umpires will wear black armbands in memory of Betty, Lattie, and Pebbles. We know this cannot fill the hole left by their passing but we hope it will show our respect.

Is this not the kindest of acts our fallen players are being shown? I remain proud to be a KEVLAR KEET and will wear this badge not only in rememberance of our friends who have gone before us but in honor of the friends we have in the here and now who share in our sorrow and celebrate the memories.   Here's Your Red Feather!!
Keets Rip Redtails
Most Bird Channel Baseball League observers looked at the Kevlar Keets’ recent upset of the league-leading Savage Sennies as something they would not be able to repeat. Maybe they were wrong as on Wednesday the Keets kept their bats in overdrive and ripped the Redtail Killer CAGs 34-14.
The game was tied at 2-all in the bottom of the second when the Keets burst out with seven runs as iris and Sidney hit solo home runs and Henry jacked A THREE-RUN shot. The Keets followed that with a four-run third as Lattie Jr. hit a two-run homer and the Keets led 13-2.
The Redtails tried to crawl back in the game with 10 runs in the top of the fourth as Sheba hit a three-run triple, Munchkin hit a two-run triple and Gabriella homered with one birdie on base. The Keets said “I’ll see your ten runs and raise you one as they blasted out eleven in the bottom of the inning. Betty. It is, and Mr. Birdie led off with singles to load the bases and Jazzy cleared them with a grand-slam home run. Duty hit a solo shot and Lattie Jr. and Turk reached base. Henry DOUBLED in Duty and Sidney walked to load the bases again. Betty singled in Lattie Jr. and Iris cleared the bases with a triple. She later scored on Tweety’s single and the Keets led 24-12 and coasted to the win as hurler Duty shut the Retails out over the final four innings.
Sheba drove in three to lead the Redtails. Arthur, Munchkin, Gabriella, and Layla all drove in two and Mowgli, Grady, and Ruby drove in one each.
Jazzy pushed six runs across to lead the Keets while Henry drove in five and Iris and Lattie Jr. drove in four each. Tweety, Sidney, and Getty drove in three each, Turk, Duty, and Mr. Birdie two apiece.

Thanks, Henry. You were awesome! Hope this makes your day. I know it did mine. T '>

We're up against the Savage Sennies, the toughest team in the Talon League. On top of that, we're playing in a packed stadium today at HersheyPark as part of the Rio & Ruby Anniversary Celebration. (The Sports Report will be posted on Rio's page 12707 at about 12 EST) No game has been more important than this one! This is our chance to show that despite our many losses, we are an incredible team if not only for the sense of Pride and Spirit we display when it comes to a love of the game. We've got to pull down those caps, pull up the pants, and stroll out onto that ball field like we own the place and know the future. Yeah, that's it... CONFIDENCE!!

The team needs your awesome catching wing on 3rd in its finest form today, Henry — that same fine form you've displayed all season.

This Sports Report was too good not to share with you.

Keets Klobber Senegals
The Kevlar Keets responded to the pep-talk from their manager Turk and flexed their feathers Thursday on the way to a 21-18 win over the tough Super Senegals. The tough little birds powered eleven home runs in the contest and left their opponents mumbling about performance enhancing millet spray.
The Keets got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning as Duty and Lattie connected for back-to-back jacks. Turk tripled and Henry lost one over the fence as the Keets took a 4-0 lead. The Keets were still flying high in the top of the second inning as Mr. Birdie tripled and scored on a single by Tweety. Jazzy homered to drive in Tweety and Duty hit a solo shot as the Keets now led 8-0.
The Senegals chipped away at the lead and had cut it to 12-8 entering the seventh but the Keets got two-run shots from Betty and Tweety to extend the lead to 16-8. Betty added another two-run jack in the eighth to boost the margin to 18-8.
The Senegals finally put on their hitting cleats in the bottom of the eighth as they sent eleven birdies up to bat with all of their runs scoring after two outs had been recorded. Lover Boy and Erin Amber reached base and scored ahead of a home run by NY Mango. Lola and Sam singled ahead of a triple by Lars. Max tripled in Lars and then scored ahead of a home run by Pico. Gus added a solo shot and the Sennies had cut the lead to 18-17.
The Keets added three runs of insurance in the top of the ninth and allowed only a solo home run from Erin Amber in the bottom of the inning as they won by the final margin of 21-18.

I love how you lost that ball over the fence... It's what helped give us such a strong start, a real boost to our confidence. Bet that ball's never found. My cap's off to you for your fine coverage of third base as well. Enjoy the thrill of this victory through the coming weekend. Your coach, team mate and friend, T '>

  *Turk Removes His Cap*
Well Team, the ball is not rolling in our favor. Not in the least. Our Saturday game against the macaws went to the Big Guys. If you've not been by the BC League page, it's worth the trip to read the write up from that day. Apparently, my fellow 'Keets, we are somewhat of the darlings of the BC League! That fact though does not save us from loosing a game. On the contrary... unfortunately.

I was to be here this evening to prepare you for tomorrow's game against the Brazilian Bombers but much to my surprise, the game has already been played. (Maybe your Coach has been hit in the head one too many times by a fly ball and I just don't know which day it is anymore.) Interestingly enough, after Asha chastised the Macaws for beatin' up on us little guys, she and her team came out and promptly repeated the beating. Yes, we lost. Again.

I don't know what to tell you, Team, other than if we can't win this series with our baseball talents, let's win the hearts of our competitors by being cheery, outgoing, friendly, and eternally upbeat. Isn't that what a Budgie's famous for anyway?

My cap's off to all of you, for being here for your team, time after time.

Coach Turk here. The following Sports Report will show that though we are small, we are mighty and we put up an incredible fight to the finish in our Bullet-Proof Kevlar vests. I'm very, VERY PROUD of my team.

The Kevlar Keet’s defense had on their bullet proof vests early shutting out the Pois for the first 2 innings. The Keets scored 3 runs in the 1st when Jazzy opened while a solo HR and then Duty, Lattie and Henry all hit triples to make the score 3-0. However, the little birdies were unable to increase their score in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Pois got on the scoreboard when Junior scored when Rafiki hit a HR. The Keets would come right back as Jazzy, Duty and Lattie combined for 2 to make the score 5-2. After a defense dominated 4th, the Pois came out swinging with singles from Jack, Apollo and Mongo, doubles from George and Romeo and Junior’s HR to take a 6-5 lead. The Keets would retake the lead in the 6th when Betty and Iris scored when Mr. Birdie hit a triple. The Keets would increase their lead in the 7th scoring 3 runs as Lattie, Turk and Henry loaded the bases and scored when Betty hit a triple. The Kevlar defense would shine again stopping the Pois and entered the 9th with a 10-8 lead. The Pois were determined to break through the Keet’s defensive shield and tied the game when Junior scored when Molli hit a HR. In extra innings, the Pois would break the tie when Tiki scored when Nippy hit a single and thne Hal hit a HR to take a 3 run lead. Keet Tweety would hit a double to get things started for the Keet but the Pois slammed the door shut. Final Score: Da Pois ‘N” Dem 13, Kevlar Keets 10.

Excellent defense we had there in those first two innings, you, our On-It Third Base Bird, an integral part of that. Then, get a bat in your wing and you go to town on that ball, knockin' it out there a triple and comin' on home after making it on base. Fantastic, Henry.

Our next match up comes against the Tiel Terrors. They're no longer undefeated. The Grey Knights took'm down a notch! We're gonna keep that trend going! Yeah!!

Hope the rest of your week is a fine one. T '>

Well, Team, the Red Tailed Killer Greys took that last game from us. As your coach, I'm willing to take full responsibility as I failed to make it around to leave words of preparation and encouragement. (It's pretty bad when the coach misses a game!) You, Henry, are our VIP for the game, with your FOUR RBIs. My cap is off to you, Sir!! Though our impressinve team is down three games out of five games, the season is yet YOUNG, leaving us lots of opportunity to win many more. Our next chance is a week away; SATURDAY! KEVLAR KEETS vs TAGS.

And now an important Baseball Announcement!!

The Bird Channel Baseball League will be holding its First Annual All-Star Game the first week in June. You need to start thinking of who you want to vote to your LEAGUE's All-Star Team. Members of each league will vote for the team to represent them at the big game. You cannot vote for a member of your own team! EACH player needs to vote for one player at EACH POSITION and send your ballot to the BC League Page. Cast your vote as soon as possible!

Let's put together a great team for the TALON LEAGUE! Members of that league include the Columbina Conquistadors, the Savage Sennies, the Quakers, US, the TAGS, C2 Hawks, and the CAG2 team. If in 'watching' any of those games you noted an exceptional player in a particular position, vote for them to play on the All-Star Team. I'd like to see a strong showing of voting by the KEVLAR KEETS on the BC page. Pretty please!

  Good GAME!
The Kevlar Keets came from behind Tuesday to take a razor-thin 13-12 win over the Cloumbian Conquistadors.
The game was a thriller all the way as the lead went back-and-forth throughout. Both teams posted single runs in the first inning. The Keets got two runs in the top of the second but the Zons put up single runs in the second and third to tie the game at 3-all. The Keets exploded for three runs in the fourth as Jazzy, Duty, and Henry drove in scores.
The Conquistadors seemed to take command of the contest in the bottom of the fourth as they pushed seven big runs across the plate. They opened up the inning with five straight singles. Fred followed with a grand-slam home run and the Zons had a 10-6 lead. Neither team scored for the next two innings but in the top of the seventh the Keets began their comeback with a two-run triple by Mr. Birdie. In the eighth Lattie drove in a run and Betty plated a pair to put the Keets up 11-10.
But the Zons would not go down that easily as they came back in the bottom of the eighth as Ethyl hit a two-run homer to move the Conquistadors to a 12-11 lead. It was now the Keets turn as Duty singled and Lattie smacked a two-run homer over the fence for a 13-12 lead. Duty shut the Zons down in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the thrilling win for the Kevlar Keets.
Fred led the Zons with a grand-slam homer and his flockmate Ethyl drove in three runs. Alfie, Pebbles, Karyn, Max, and Jenny-Lynn all drove in runs.
Lattie and Mr. Birdie drove in three runs each for the Keets. Jazzy and Betty plated two each while Tweety, Duty, and Henry all drove in a run for the winners.

Henry!! It's an honor to be a part of this team. I'm so proud to say I'm a KEVLAR KEET!! Thanks for that all-important run you pounded in there in the fourth; without it we wouldn't have been one point ahead in the ninth inning.

Ok Team, let's just bite the bullet and get to the bad news; brought to you from the BC Baseball Sports Page (123745):

Hawks Klobber Keets
The Kevlar Keets hosted the White Hawks at Keet Koliseum but the night belonged to the visitors as the Hawks used the long ball to power their way to a 25-11 victory.
The Hawks opened the scoring in the top of the second inning as they plated three runs. They continued the scoring parade in the third as Snuggles blasted a bases-loaded homer and Cocoa smacked a two-run blast to make the score 9-0. Clyde swatted a three-run long ball in the fourth to boost the margin to 12-0.
The Keets cut the score in half in the bottom of the fourth as Turk hit a two-run homer and Betty plated three runs with a long ball but the Hawks put the game away with seven runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth as they coasted to the 25-11 victory.
Betty drove in three runs for the Keets and Turk, Sidney, and Henry plated two each. (YEA HENRY!!) Tweety and Lattie drove in one run each.
Clyde drove in six runs for the Hawks while Cocoa pushed five across and Snuggles and Rocky four apiece. Cuddles drove in three, Romeo two, and Christine Dijon one. The Hawks smacked seven home runs to only three for the Keets.

And there you have it. Now let's not jump to the conclusion that those Toos' hits were home runs because we're of smaller stature and the balls were constantly over our heads. Not so. We played some great baseball! The skills we used to beat the Quakers are the same ones we're going to bring to the field in our next game when we play the Columbian Conquistadors mid-week, next week. Henry, the bird covering third base for the CC's is Max (40581). He's also their coach so I'll be going by his page also, to, you know, give him a fair warning that the Keets are ready for another win.... I'm sure he'd enjoy a visit from a lively and interesting bird like you. Thanks for visiting Jade before our game against the Quakers. I love what you wrote to her and I see she wrote back to you. That's what I'm talkin'bout! Gettin' to know other birds. You're the coolest, Henry. Until our next gathering on the green, keep that beak up, those muscles flexed and a song in your heart. T '>

  Chill for another Day!
Your Coach got a tad excited and a little hasty in announcing we had a game to play today. It's actually tomorrow that we take on the c2 white hawks. Same plan... different day. T '>

Put on the KEVLAR!! It's time to PLAY BALL!
Henry! You ready to play another baseball game? Sure hope so; tomorrow we're meeting the C2 White Hawks, a team that lost their first game against the TAGs. Their third base bird is named Sailor and as best as I can tell, his number is 55687, tho I didn't see a cap on him in any of his pictures. I've just compared his photo in the team roster to his page and I'd say it is this Sailor.... I mention all of this in hopes you'll fly by and exchange a little friendly banter before or even after the game, you know, in an effort to spread the friendship around the BC!! Isn't that what sports are really supposed to be about?!! That and the winning!! Imagine the KEVLAR KEETS winning tomorrow... picture the victory... T '>

Henry! You Showed Up Just in Time!

Here's the write-up from the BC Baseball Page: (123746)

Keets Bulletproof Against Quakers
It was a battle between the Quakers and the Parakeets as the Green Dragons took on the Kevlar Keets on Wednesday at the Parakeet Palace. The Kevlar Keets lived up to their names as they were literally bulletproof over the course of the first six innings as they built a big lead and held on to win 19-11.
Iris led the offense in the beginning for the Keets as she singled in a run in the bottom of the second and smacked a three-run homer in the third as the home team went up 6-0. The Keets added three in the fourth and four more in the fifth as Lattie lost one over the outfield fence to power home three runs. Two more runs in the sixth gave the Keets a huge 15-0 lead.
The Quakers finally got on the board as they plated three runs in the top of the seventh as Waddles tripled home a pair. The Dragons added five in the eighth as Team Captain Peter Tator Head got all of a pitch with the bases juiced and smashed a grand-slam home run. The Quakers entered the top of the ninth trailing 19-8 and they were able to add three more markers, but it was too little and too late as the home team prevailed.
Iris, Lattie, and Jazzy all drove in four runs for the Keets as all three hit home runs. Sidney and Mr. Birdie drove in two each and Betty, Tweety, and Henry also drove in runs for the winners.
Peter drove in a pair for the Keets. Waddles and Mikey drove in two each and Little Bit and Jade added RBIs.
But the hero of the game had to be Keet pitcher Duty who held the Quakers scoreless for six innings while his team built an insurmountable lead.

You contributed impressively to the incredible collection of points we had in this game. Excellent style, Man! Pat yourself on the back. Here, I'd like to do the same... *pat-pat* T '>
