Kaluka is a "throw-away" bird. His first owner, was an old man who loved and doted on him. From what we understand, the old man died and his family did not want the bird. The sent/sold him to a pet store. We don't know how long he was at the pet store. From there, a woman in NJ bought him. She had him maybe 6 months, and because he apparently was aggressive, she sold/gave him to a woman in Pennsylvania. In April of 2002, this woman in PA posted on the AOL message boards that she wanted to get rid of him because he was biting and nasty. I dialogued with her for six weeks, trying to get her to work with the bird - but she refused. I drove out to meet her and she quite literally dumped the bird in my car and ran off. We were his fifth home in four years! We are his final home as well. He will not be tossed around any more. We are thinking he has been abused, and that is why he is so unpredictable. He has sent me to the ER for bites - but we still love him..

Hi! My name is Kaluka

I am a Cockatoo from Edison, NJ.

Lucca, Kaluke

17 years old   M

Cockatoo

Almonds for sure, birdie bread, veggies, a lot of things

On his high cement perch

Sometimes it seems like EVERYTHING bothers Kaluka and other times, he is as sweet as sugar.

She loves me unconditionally - and she tastes good too!

He is unpredictable for one thing. His funny habit though, is he uses tools - a nut shell or bell to scoop water...things like that.

Birds just gotta have fun!.

I have a lessor sulpher crested cockatoo. That kinda has the same back ground but just older I think Merlin is about 13 years old but he will be forever my bird no matter how much he bites me. Now if i can get him to talk and play and not bite will be a plus.

I have a CAG that the same thing happened to. He's not to friendly yet and I hope he breeds with my female CAG.
All signs are good so far.

Come visit me, Princess & Albert.
