 He was in a second home and they didn't want him anymore so they gave him to me. He doesn't much trust people so we just let him do his thing and admire his beauty. A touchable, sweet bird he's not but he is so gorgeous he's still worth having here and he seems content as long as we don't try to handle him.. |

Cuca has died
Our dear little girl died this morning (5/19/09) at approimately 9:00 am PST. She became ill suddenly and as we were on our way to an emergency vet, she died in my arms. We are besides ourselves with grief right now and KayKay is unusually quiet as well. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.Come visit me, KayKay & Cuca.

Yes, specifically I am a Hispanolian Amazon from the Dominican Republic. Mom says to send her your email address and she'll see if she can send you a close up of my beak ... that is IF I'll let her get close to me with that THING!! LOL Whenever she comes near me with that THING or that other THING (that rings) I try to bite it! hee-hee ..
Anyway, Mom doesn't think I have any ridges or barbs on the sides of my beak .. it's pretty smooth, she thinks!
Is what's on your beak growing off the edge, or is it higher up on the sides?

LOL - when mom started on here, she didn't know what those words meant either!
Well, I'm not too sure about this fister ... she whistles allllll kinds of sounds and makes these really strange noices too! I think she's funny and I laugh at all those noices. She hasn't been real nice to my mom though and has bit her a few times ... she bites harder than I do ... course I don't really bit (much) I just need to hang on sometime cause of my bum leg and sometimes I get a little bit scared and squeeze with my beak a little harder than I mean to! (hee-hee)
Guess what happened? I lost a toe!! It just fell off!! Didn't hurt me a bit, but it sure freaked out mom and dad. It was on my bum leg and was all twisted and off to the side ... I didn't use it anyway. So, I guess I won't miss it .. hee-hee

Hi Peanut
My new fister arrived today. She's "interesting" and makes lots of strange noises. Gurgles and pops and she even burps! Ha-ha. Mom and Dad moved me into a new cage last night. It's smaller than my old cage, but has all my same stuff in it. And, it's in the same exact place, so I guess that's okay. The new fister got moved into my old cage - which is bigger, cause she's a bigger birdie than me. Mom and Dad were worried that I would be upset about getting moved AND getting a new fister, but I slept just fine last night and I can climb around in my new cage just as well as the old one.

Wow!
That's pretty cool peanut ... I bet if you watch mom and spike you'll see that mom's touches are really nice and spike likes them ... so maybe ???? hee-hee!
I LOVE it when mom and dad give me scritches, especially under my chin! I turn my head all the way around so they can reach those itchy spots!! :-)

You are a very pretty bird and lucky that your parronts are so understanding. I wonder if they have ever heard of Chet Womack and the "Taming, training, and tricks" video. It is amazing. Anyway, if you are a happy bird and they are happy with you, that is all that matters. Maybe you could fly by for a visit sometime. We have 3 amazons, a cockatoo, and a catalina macaw in our flock. Dandy here. I don't know. You probably trust her more than you think. You know she won't hurt you and will always give you food and water. I tried to follow mom today and she's dogsitting. The dog is old, but since I've been tortured by dogs I just don't like her. Mom came running down telling the dog to stay and then picked me up and let me on her shoulder for a few minutes until I calmed down. And Sly and Kiwi were telling me it was okay. Mom promised that she'd take the dog home before she brought me down tomorrow. Sly teases the dog and then tells her to go lay down. Wish I was that brave. Oh well, mom said I was a brave boy when she picked me up. Gotta love her.
