 Last summer, my mom and dad lost their bird-kid, Mook. He was a Goffin Cockatoo. They were so sad and upset. At first, after he died, they weren't sure if they wanted another bird-kid, but they couldn't stand it - they missed Mook and the fun company he provided. So Mom found a great breeder who lived nearby and they met ME! Of course Mom and Dad fell in love with me right away and I've owned them ever since!. |

Happy Thanksgiving!
Hello Kunta. I hope you have a wonderful day of eating lots of good things and getting lots of rest after. I have to be good today so I don't get mistaken for a turkey. The main picture on my page shows I am fit for eating. I think I would be too tough though because I fly and play so much. I am hoping to dig into a pumpkin pie. They are so tasty. Hey! It's me, Kunta!!
Hey everyone! I'm back! My mom got a stupid job, so she hasn't helped me keep up on my blog or with my friends. She KNOWS she has to type for me! What's a social bird like me suppose to do!?! Last month (June) I celebrated my first hatchday! Yay! I'm a year old now! I've been saying several words, as well as learning to whistle a whole song! Mom and dad say I'm doing very well and have the tune about down perfect! Sometimes I end it with a wolf whistle, but what the heck! Mom promised me that she'd try hard to keep me updated at least once a week. We'll see...she's just not very dependable sometimes. She'll be gone a whole week at the end of July. She's going to ride her bike in RAGBRAI - whatever that is. All I know is that I'm not going to get any cuddling from her for a whole week! That really stinks. I guess my dad will have to do.Come visit me, Kunta.

Yep, our tongues are talented. Mommy loves to watch how I hold my food too. She says I'm very fastidious. I have to clean every spec of crumbs off my toes when I'm done too. Though I do like to flick grape skins all over when I eat them. They make such a mess for mommy to clean up.Come visit me, Kira.

Just flappin' by to say 'Hi Kunta!' Thrilled that today was a warmer day and I could spend a little time outdoors in my aviary. I love to imitate the wild birds. I also love it when I hear the neighbor lade say, "I wonder what kind of bird that is!" One day I kept saying "Hello!" and she kept peeking around to see who was talking...Mom says I'm being cruel but I see her smirking also. My family's caught on to phone rings coming from me instead of their phones so there's no more fun in 'calling' them. Time to figure out some other way to practice my motto! You poor, poor thing. Falling in the toilet, how embarrassing. I bet your Dad keeps the lid down now. How old are you? I started to say, " Hello," at about four months, but it took about two months to perfect it. Our humans seem to get very excited with every new word, so keep up the good work. how was your night did you sleep well,i did and i woke mommy up early again to get my breakfast,hihihi i know she is not morning person and need her coffee before she make me my breakfast,but hey who needs to sleep in hihihihi i know she would like to sleep a bit longer,but daddy makes sure she don't,you should hear him in the morning making all the noises and then ask mommy nicely,why she don't sleep longer,when i hear mommy's voice then she lost,because i start whistling and "talking" until she get's up for good,hihihihi...my mommy said she will wait of the email from your mommy and she told me,she will put some more perches on my tree,so i can walk and climb alover them,can't wait...the weather looks good here so i hope it will warm up so mommy will take me outside and i can get some sun and fresh air...so i'll go back to my breakfast,talk to you later

Thanks for droppin' me a note! Dunnit feel nice when someone writes to you! Thanks to you, my day had a very nice start! Sounds like your days are filled with one happy experience after another...hanging out with Mom or Dad wherever they might be working. I'm a Mommy's bird; no socializing with Dad for me...unless he's got popcorn! I have my designated counter space too...but of course that turns out to be the only place I don't want to be, instead daring to try and sneak onto the spots I'm not supposed to be at! Kunta I havent heard from you in so long I just read your blog on Jangos page and you said you are talking!!! meeee tooooo. I just made everything clear yesterday and I say Peek a boo and pretty girl. Mommys says Ill never learn my name cause mommy never calls me by my name only luv bug. Maybe I will say that!!
How are you doing? How was your Easter? I got 2 new toys and mommy made me a plastic egg hunt with all my fav treats inside plus a colored hard boiled egg...weeeeee it was fun but I wasnt sure of those plastic eggs mommy had to open them for me.
Hope you and mommy are well and congratulations on talking now they cant get us to be quiet *giggle*

Hi Kunta,
Yep, bottle caps, milk jug caps, business cards, the cardboard tubes from toilet paper rolls, a little plastic bottle--my toy basket has those too along with the store bought toys. My mommy wonders why she spends so much on toys when I seem to like the household stuff better. Junk mail is a treat especially if it has the cellophane window on the envelope! I love how it crinkles. Another thing she does is take a brown lunch bag, put hand toys in it and ties it to the inside of my cage like a pinata. She also buys me the real birdy pinatas too. I loooove to shred paper, cardboard, and palm frond toys. I don't like the harder wood toys as much, just the softer woods. I also love the plastic jingle balls. I chew them to bits trying to get the bells out. I also like to unscrew any quick links and take the clappers out of the bells on my toys. Mommy says I have a talented tongue to be able to do that.Come visit me, Kira.

thanks for stepping by and finally someone what live in the neighborhood :)yeah talking its not so easy and i really try hard but my mommy and daddy have a hard time too to understand what i say,but hey i'm just 5 month old and i whistle too when mommy leaves the room or i can't see her anymore and do not stop either til she answers me or comes back and i whistle in the morning to tell her its time to get up and bring me my breakfast. mommy left me once too and big human brother was supossed to feed me,oh boy....do you know how responsible 19 year old teenager are,can you believe it he gave me my food at 9.30am that is almost my lunchtime LOL,my mommy gets up for me at 6am because i want my food and daddy thinks so too,because he tells mommy to get up,hehehehehe,after mommy came back,i was alover her and told her that she never ever should leave me alone :) don't know if she really got it hehehehe,but i still love my mommy very much,you can tell your mommy,that if she want to know how my mommy made the tree,she can send her a email too if she want,my mommy's email is gzollfrank@yahoo.com and my mommy can send her pictures of the tree too and show and tell her how to do it,my mom always make toys for me,because like your mommy she think the play stands and most of the toys are just to expensive,so gotta run now,because mommy say's its time to start cooking dinner, chatting later again

Mommy holds out a piece of floss for me and I slide the tip of my beak back and forth across it. Mommy thinks its because I see her floss so I have to do it too. Mommy also lets me have the empty floss dispensers for toys (after she takes out the cutter) because I love to open and close them and chew the lids off. They're more fun than some of the toys she buys me! She hides little treats in them and I have to open them to get them out. Kunta's a cool name. We K's have to stick together!Come visit me, Kira.

Hey Kunta, thanks for the vote. Forest City is straight up I35. Once you get about 20 miles south of the Minnesota border, you can travel 15 miles West on Highway 9 and you run right into Forest City. Mom and Dad live just one mile off of Hwy 9.
Tell you mommy "welcome to Iowa" for me. It's a great place to live. Where is your mommy from? I was origianlly purchased from a breeder in LeRoy, MN. She is always at the bird fair. She was the lady in the middle row of the big room that had 5 or 6 of us CAG's for sale. Some of them had the same mom and dad as I do. Mom is adopting a Timneh in a few weeks from a lady that can't keep him any more. I'm so excited to be getting a new brother to play with. I hope he's nice, just like you. I FELL IN THE TOILET!!!
Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to tell you all this, but what the heck...we're all friends aren't we? The other day, I was on top of the shower doors watching my dad shave, when I decided I didn't want up there any more. When I flew down....I uh...kinda landed in the stool. Well let me tell you - that was NOT FUN! It scared both me and my dad! Then the worst thing came next when my dad decided he had to rinse me off in the sink! I'll tell you what - we BOTH learned a lesson that day! Dad always keeps the lid of the stool down and I don't fly down when I shouldn't!! Hey, I'm just glad he didn't flush!!
