Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at

Come visit me, Tweety, Frosty and Ringo.

  Hi Chii
I would like to tell you how pretty you look, and say that it is nice to meet you. I am half blind because another cockatiel I used to live with at my former residence tore my right eye out. So I have only 1 eye now, and I can still see out of the left side. Some people think it is a little creepy when I turn my head and face them with my missing eye side, but my mom is not grossed out by it. She loves me just the same. I am glad you got a very nice home too.
Oh yes tell your new papa the best thing to do for you is the leave your cage set up the way it is so that you do not get disoriented and you know where things are. Bye Bye

Tina, Leavenworth, KS.

  Hi Chii!
Well I'm sorry to hear you are blind, but I'm glad you have such a loving home. I'm a feather plucker and have lots of issues since being rescued by my mom. She loves me just the same (just like your mom). You are a very pretty bird. Have your mom come visit me sometime. I'm going to vote for you today! Birdie hugs, Buddy

Come visit me, Clyde, Tiki, Buddy, r.i.p. 8/20/08 & Bobbi.

Way to go taking on the responsibility of a handicap bird and wanting to make his life the happiest and healthiest!! We had one with splayed legs, it is a different problem, so I'm afraid we don't have any advice for caring for the blind, but as much of a challenge as caring for a handicap bird can be, it is also very rewarding. Good luck and best wishes from our flock, you guys have lots of love already so you will do great!

Come visit me, Sunny (Sunhine), Marvin / Marvine, Kiki & All The Budgies.

Welcome to bird channel. You are an adorable lovebird. I have two fischers and they are such cute birds. I don't know with being blind, how much the bird tries to really move around, but our lovebirds are constantly on the go. Do you have any other birds in the house? I keep my amazon in the back room away from my other birds, due to her loudness and the fact that she was an only bird prior to my obtaining her and she seems to like having the room to herself. What I did with her was I got a homedics sound maker, it makes the sound of the rain forest, which makes a wonderful bird chirping sounds and this way the bird doesn't feel alone, she's like she's in a rain forest. It works great, my lovebirds hear this in the room beside her and they chirp off and on with it. The best thing for her is your holding her and attention, to make him happy.

Come visit me, Corky, LuLu, ANGEL, Arie & ZIGGY.

Search for other blind birds, or baby birds, that she could be friends with. A companion might do a world of good for her.

I've never had a blind bird either, but I have friends who have. They always said to make sure they can move around comfortably inside AND outside there cage...easy to manuever around I guess is what I mean. Don't change it up once you have it set. Try doing a search on the internet, or talk to some bird rescues...they may have some great ideas! Bless you Chii. Glad you found a good home!
