Mom says that eventually summer is coming and she thinks that we birds would like these in our water dishes....
Making Blossom Ice Cubes:
Gently rinse your pesticide-free flower blossoms.
Boil water for 2 minutes for all the air trapped in the water to escape. Remove from heat and let the water cool until room temperature. NOTE: This will ensure that the ice cubes are crystal clear.
Place each blossom at the base of each individual compartment within an ice tray. Fill each compartment half full with the cooled boiled water and freeze.
After the water is frozen solid, fill each ice cube compartment the rest of the way to the top with the remaining boiled water. Freeze until ready to use.
Scented Geraniums (Pelargonium species) - The flower flavor generally corresponds to the variety. For example, a lemon-scented geranium would have lemon-scented flowers. They come in fragrances from citrus and spice to fruits and flowers, and usually in colors of pinks and pastels. Sprinkle them over desserts and in refreshing drinks or freeze in ice cubes.

Punkin here. I'm on a quest to make BOTM and could use some votes. I'm telling birdies what flowers we CAN EAT. although you tiels eat most flowers hehehe
What amazes me is the different flavors of flowers. Mom says since there are late blooming tulips I should add them before it's to late to enjoy....
Tulip Petals (Tulipa) - Flavor varies from tulip to tulip, but generally the petals taste like sweet lettuce, fresh baby peas, or a cucumber-like texture and flavor. NOTE: Some people have had strong allergic reactions to them. If touching them causes a rash, numbness etc. Don't eat them! Don't eat the bulbs ever. If you have any doubts, don't eat the flower.
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) - It has a star-burst yellow flowers that have a mild anise flavor. Use with desserts or cold soups, or as a garnish with your entrees.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) - Sweet, floral flavor, with lemon and citrus notes. Flowers look beautiful and taste good too in a glass of champagne, with chocolate cake, or as a garnish for sorbets or ice creams. Lavender lends itself to savory dishes also, from hearty stews to wine-reduced sauces. Diminutive blooms add a mysterious scent to custards, flans or sorbets. Lol this time we took ages to reply. Our old computer broke down and we had to get internet on the laptop. What a hassle. Thats good to hear about your new friend. We have the same number in our flocks at the moment. Cool Aye. Nice big families. Lace layed five eggs which is good. (Its a little late to breed but its summer here so if worst comes to worst we'll hand raise them, the weather is unpredictible at the mo) then they were disturbed and chintz crushed them. Lace has layed 2 more now and is guarding them ferociously which is strange for her because she is usually quite nice. Lu got a new swing and me and Opie are jealous. We got mummy back though. We didn't go back in the cage when told and mummy was quite late for work today. But when she came home she made us a nice meal. Came by to thank you for visiting my page, and imagine my surprise when I realized you live just down the road from me! It's a pretty long road being Interstate 405, but we are in the same neck of the woods. And Popeye and her flock live even closer to you in La Habra. You might want to introduce yourself to them as well.
I wanted to let you know that I am not running for BOTW or BOTM (althought Floop is), since I was fortunate enough to win both of those honors already. I was BOTM last summer, and I enjoyed it so much I felt it would be nice to help other birdies win the award. So I put together the BOTM calendar to let everybirdy know who was running each month, and the winner (and it is not a guaranteed thing to win just because you want it) gets a royal portrait posted in the portrait gallery at the bottom of the page. If you look at the "Founding Feathers" page, that is the prior winners going back as far as I could obtain pics. I felt it was only right to show our admiration for all these fine birds.
There is a similar schedule for birds wishing to run for BOTW. It is on Rocky's page, and his page # is 16847. To get there you just change the # in the URL bar from 135561 (which is your #) to 16847 and hit enter. If you are interested in ever running for BOTW, Rocky is the bird to speak to.
Finally I would like to welcome you to the bird channel, or BC as we affectionately call it. We have a lot of fun here including at least one virtual party every month. The next one is this Saturday at the Milonga Ballroom page #153554. It starts at 5PM our time, and if you just show up at the page and read the blogs for a bit you will get the idea. It is a lot of fun. The theme of this party is Boogie Nights, and we will be "dancing" to music of the 40s, 50s & 60s. Come check it out, and you will make lots of terrific new friends.

Yup thats me.Never in trouble.Even when I rile up the aviary birds on purpose then run and hide, chew through mail and important documents and have a nasty habit of pooing on mummy after attacking visitors (I'm secretly a little terror) I just pull my baby face and start crying and...hehe...all is forgiven! I live with heaps of others too. 8 hopefully soon to be 11 tiels,2 doves and 1 old budgie. Mummy says that cockatiels are the greatest. We all have our little characters. We still have to put up my brother Seagull's page then Chintzy, Sparrow and Blackbird. Hello
Just came by to give you a vote and say hello love your play gym my mommy wants to get me one of those so I can play by her when she is washing the dishes. Right now I have to play on the other counter and that is not that much fun. I like to be as close to her as possible I wont even let her out of the room. I try my hardest to fly after her but my wings are clipped so she has to come and pick me up.Come visit me, Sunny.
