 I was a gift. Mom used to come visit me at the pet store then one day, she came in and there was a SOLD sigh on me and she started to cry! Luckily, I was sold to her and she didn't even know it! At first, perhaps the first 3 months, I wanted nothing - and I do mean NOTHING - to do with her, but them one day I decided I could not go another day unless me and mama were bestest friends! We then became the best of pals and now we cannot live without each other!. |

Kirby here! While we're heading into the joyful season of celebrating a very special birth, I want to take the time to touch base with all our former CJC baseball team members and find out who might be interested in being a part of the team in the 2013 season. The Commissioner's Office opens on the 2nd of January I believe and I want to be as ready as possible when that day comes. Although we're donning coats, hats and mittens right now, those warm spring breezes will eventually come cruising through and it'll be time for baseball caps and short-sleeved t-shirts again. So, here’s what we got. Last year’s Officiatin’ Staff o’ The Birdie BazeBol League’ve been mullin’ it over an’ they’ve come up with a Jim Dandy idea to help stave off the cravin’s that some o’ you Birdie BazeBol Players an’ Fans’ve been sufferin’ from, ‘cause o’ the lack o’ playin’ this Season.
They’ve all put their heads t’gether to give us a one-time opportunity t’ play ourselves a little BazeBol THIS summer! YuP! YaHooooo!! We’re goin’ back t’ Th’ Stadium!!! The 2012 All*Star Birdie BazeBol game’ll be played at KEVLAR Memorial Stadium th’ afternoon o’ Saturday, August 18th. Th’ plan is t’ play BazeBol startin’ at 3:00 pm CENTRAL TIME, an’ then party that night at the same time we always party for Th’ Milonga! (Translation for th’ Time Zone Challenged: 4:00 pm Eastern, 2:00 pm Mountain, 1:00 pm Pacific.That’s for the BazeBol Game now!)
So, I’m here right now t’ fill y’uns in on all th’ What-Not’s an’ Why-For’s of how this thing is gonna work. So tuck yer feathers b’hind yer ear holes and listen up ….
Th’ first thing that has t’ happen is CHOOSIN’ TEAMS.
Here’s how that’s gonna work. See this here hat I got in my wing? Well, right over there on that table is a bunch o’ scraps o’ paper for y’all t’ write your names on an put in th’ hat.
BUT THERE’s A CATCH!
There’s only ONE birdie PER FLOCK allowed to put their name in th’ hat ! ! ! I know. I KNOW! But there’s only 12 positions available on two teams so we gotta make it so’s as many flocks get a chance t’ play as possible, an’ this was the fairest way the Umps could think of.
So … Two teams; twelve players each (10 reg’lar positions an’ 2 reserves). One team’s gonna be ALL GIRL~BIRDS and one team’s gonna be ALL BOY~BIRDS!
We’re gonna keep the “HAT” out ‘til July 15. Then those Umps’ll pick the players for each team out o’ the hat … lottery style. An’ th’ positions’ll be assigned th’ same way too … lottery style.
You can bring all your little pieces o’ paper with your names writ on ‘em t’ my page so’s Th’ Kommish don’t miss any of ‘em. Bring ‘em t’ MY PAGE (#66865). An’ the same deal goes as for th’ Players: Names in th’ hat; two squads; maximost number o’ birdies on each squad – 6; one squad ALL GIRL~BIRDS (who’ll be cheerin’ for th’ BOY~BIRDS’ team, by th’ way) an’ one squad ALL BOY~BIRDS (cheerin’ for th’ GIRL~BIRDS’ team o’ course!); chosen lottery style. An’ the same rule applies ‘bout only ONE birdie PER FLOCK bein’ a CheerLeader. H-O-W-E-V-E-R, there can be one birdie’s name in the hat for PLAYIN’ and one birdie’s name in th’ hat for CHEERIN’ from th’ same flock. (An’ I don’t wanna be in ANY birdies flock meetin’s when they’re decidin’ which birdies from the flockily get t’ put their names in th’ hat an’ which ones don’t! NosirreeBob!!!)
Now, in case you’re one o’ th’ birdies who weren’t at th’ Milona last Saturday night, you missed what th’ names o ‘ th’ teams’r gonna be. Them ol’ soft hearted Umps decided it would be nice t’ honor th’ most recent Rainbow Bridge Departees in namin’ the teams for this here All*Star Game, just like they honored ‘em at th’ Milonga that night. SO … The GIRL~BIRDS’ team is gonna be called “Th’ Angel Wings” an’ th’ BOY~BIRDS team is gonna be known as “Berts at Bat”. Got a nice ring to it, don’t it?
Th’ Team Line-Ups’ll be announced at th’ next Milonga, July 21st.

LOLOL!!! ((bump)) Oh, I feel down! LOLOL!! Okay I'm back up now. LOLOL... your tent... you... WHOOSH!! LOLOLOL ((thud)) lolol... I fell down again! You're killin' me, Raven! I can't believe you chewed the holders on your hut and then it fell apart while you were in it! Oh my sides... they hurt from laughing so hard. *sigh* There's never a dull moment when you're around, is there. It's a wonder I haven't chewed the same bits of hardward on my hut; I sleep on the top, practically leaning on the straps that suspend the hut. I know, I'm weird, not sleeping on the inside. It must be something with this flock or the air we breath 'cause none of us sleep inside our huts. Jensen and I, we perch side by side on the top of our shared hut. (Yes, I sleep with my frother. Hush it.) Kirby, he used to sleep inside his but then one night he up and changed his GPS location of slumber. It sure was fun the morning mom walked in and nearly freaked because she couldn't find Kirbs anywhere. Even I wouldn't have known where he was if I hadn't seen him tuck himself up under this decorative felt edging that hangs around the top of the wall in our little room. He's slept up there now for months. Doesn't look the least bit relaxing to me, having to hang on all night, but whatever. Glad he hasn't asked me to join him.
Alright, I'm rambling here like some crazy chicken. It's just so great to get to talk to you. I too have missed our dude-time. Gotta get us more of this over the summer. You and your marvelously buff legs come around again real soon. If you're actually on vacation right now, for cryin' out loud, I hope you're having a really good time!

Hi Raven!
I wanted to stop by and say hello since Scritchy was visiting Apollo. I hope you've been well. We've had quite a few friends and family visiting us for most of the month of May and I have been quite the charming hostess let me tell you. I danced, did kissy noises, batted my eyelashes and successfully conned snacks out of every single guest! Now it's my grandma's turn- she and grandpa are coming up for a visit this weekend and she can't resist the Nanday charm. She and I often sit outside on the patio and share almonds, sorbets, and I take sips from her fruit smoothies...what a life! If you're ever in FL you have to come stay with me and live the life of Nanday leisure!

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but here I am finally to thank you for a wonderful date at the derby! I had a great time, even though it was hard to blog you there. I loved it, every minute and every taste of food and drink!
Well, mom is finally back from Michigan. She was busy there the whole time. Aunt Jane sure knows how to entertain. After the tulip stem festival (tulips were already done blooming) in Holland, the 3 travelers went to see Aunt Jane farther north. While with her, mom saw the Cross in the Woods, the lake and casino by Petoskey, Mackinaw Island, mushroom houses, a music museum, some art galleries, Sault Ste. Marie, the Soo canals and locks, Whitefish Point, Tegamenon (SP?) Falls, Leelanau peninsula, including a place called Fishtown, an old fishing village, and some wineries, and the Morel Mushroom festival and craft show in Boyne city. They were busy busy busy. Thanks to Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill for keeping mom entertained and fed, though!
Today mom was back at the center, where 762 animals have been admitted this year. At the same time last year, there had been 382 animals by this time. The center is on track to admit well over 3000 animals this year! Mom was busy with all the baby birds this morning, so the rest of the day is ours alone! (How did I get off on talking about rats???) That craziness you were telling me you've got going on there, you don't think it's, like contagious, do you? LOL about that slip of the beak on those toys from the fair being yours. ALL yours. Let's just say they are and that you're a very generous guy, sharing them with your less fortunate flockmates. What a guy you are, Raven.
It is quite a shocker to realize you've celebrated 10 of those hatchday things. Impressive. Because my age is not longer on the BC page, I've no idea what age mom was saying I was. Let's see, I was either one or two years old when I moved in here in 2008. Guess that makes me 4 or 5. Geesh, that sounds so childish next to your mature 10 years of living. Just think of the wealth of information your brain has compared to mine. I'd say I'd like to pick your brain for some good stuff, but that doesn't sound quite right.
I'm really hoping things at your place smooth out and settle down. A life with a little less crazy would a good thing.

Sounds like Giz and Gandy have a lot in common! Tell your mom to come on the cruise, they would have a ball! It's only for 7 days...
It has been gorgeous here the past week! Mom is going outside to plant stuff as soon as I'm done blogging. She worked at the museum this morning, and had second graders for her second tour. She said it's something like herding cats, but I'm not sure what that means.
I won the cards at the auction the other day, can't wait to see them. The wildlife center got a %50 contribution for them from mom. If you'd like to know more about the center, go to animalrescue.org and click on the wildlife center. That's where mom volunteers her time and money. Giz's taco lasted all of a day! My new toy is still intact, in fact, I'm waiting it out to see if it's going to attack or not. We are doing better each day, but we are all sad about Peep. Sorry we weren't on yesterday, mom was busy and she won't let me type for myself. She got the parrot lovers cruise booked, though, so she's leaving again in late October. The weather is getting nicer, maybe it's time to plant the flowers she ordered. Hey Buddy, ol' Pal, HOW ARE YOU? Zoren here, by the way, in case you have no clue who's doing all this excited yelling. First things first, HAPPY HATCHDAY! That's about a two-week tardy greeting there. Me and my bros, we were experiencing a major deficient in blogging time while your party was going on. Whatever excuse mom has, I don't wanna hear it. She keeps coming up with one after another and I think they're all worthless. I keep missing out on all the fun!
How's things in your hut? The inside of mine needs some major reupholstering. Jensen shredded the living daylights out of the material. Now the plexiglass floor piece is all there is to lay on in there and I'm just not that into a hard mattress like that. Been sleeping on the top of the tent lately, and making Jensen stand beside me so I've got somebirdie to lean on. Kirby, he's taken to slipping up against the ceiling under the felt leaves that are stapled up there. Odd bird, he is. Ha! Hope Luca don't hear that; she'll be over here bappin' me in the head with a GC wing!

I could of never done this with all your help and want you all to come to the castle and celebrate with me tonight. Hi Raven
We are all mourning the loss of my girl, Little Peeps. She was a wonderful, bright, happy spirit who lit up all our lives and will be missed. I still can't believe she's gone, it seems like a light has been turned off in the world. Aunt Jill will be back on line as soon as she can, right now she's broken hearted. It was a comic opera, and well staged, but every time mom thought of Peep and Aunt Jill, she lost it. It's a sad day today. We are all mourning the loss of Willie's girl, Little Peeps. Yes- we are so sad here for Lil Peeps! And for Aunt Jill! When we read the news yesterday morning, mom started crying. That Lil Peeps was so cute and sweet. I know Willie is devastated too. We are glad she's no longer in pain and she had a really wonderful life in FL. We have lost a lot of budgies in the last two years so she is flying with some of the best of Mexico!
Have your mom email my mom with your details and if my mom can talk my dad into it, maybe they can get over to the east coast while you're on vacation here. Are they planning to go to Chichen Itza or anything like that - that is only 2 hours from our house and would be easy to get to. I think your mom said they are going scuba diving? They picked a great place to do it! It will be a fun vacation. Who watches you and your flock when your parronts are gone?
I saw what Chyna wrote about Falco - I've thought all along that she really likes you a lot and you do look so adorable together. hehehe!

I'm so sad and upset about Lil Peeps. Mom wants to send a big hug to Aunt Jill. I wish the vet could have fixed her. I was hoping that he would remove the tumor.
Oh, derby attire is just summer suits and sundresses mostly ... and the hats of course! Falco really likes you, don't be afraid to tell her how you feel. You and Bailey were the special guys in her life.

I'm glad your mom got back to CA safely. Did you hear about poor Lil Peep? That is so sad. I just loved that little girl - such a sweetie! I know her momma is so sad right now. She is now making the Rainbow Bridge a brighter place for all the birds and animals up there! I will miss her so much!
My mom is going to a wedding near Mexico City so she's going away again for 4 days! It will be during the Derby milonga so I won't be able to go. Please tell Apollo that I'd love to go to the next milonga with him. I don't know what is happening with Captain right now and it could be that he won't be back on BC. I don't know so I'd love to hang out with Apollo and see what happens.
It is super hot here so we're napping this afternoon on the porch. That is cool that Falco is going to the milonga with you. I think you make a really handsome couple! Scion says to say hi to Annie from him when you're at the milonga - she'll be under the buffet table. He always meets her there.
We are just so sad about Lil Peep! Big hugs to you, your mom and the rest of the flock! Tell Apollo to fly over to say hi!

I'm so glad you aren't wearing a tux to the derby, now I won't have to find a gown. We can just go with our red legs and a new hat, what do you say? Mom loved FL, and is looking forward to next year as well. She liked the party more than the show, though. It was fun to put faces and names together, but she says she probably can't pass the quiz now, heehee.
Well, tonight is opera night for mom, and she's taking her daughter and son in law to dinner and the opera as part of their Christmas gift. It should be a good one, the last one of the season is always a spectacular performance.
I'm worried about Little Peep. She's going to the vet with Peetie today, and her mom should call my mom when they get back, but we've been worried all night long. I hope she is all right.
