Hello Luca
How's my pretty little gal~pal these days? I often wonder what you and your flock are up to and how things are with your family.
Life for this little Green Cheek is good enough. It's been an okay summer; hot, sometimes boring, occasionally exciting. I've endured numerous wing trims in the hope of finding a cut that will actually ground me enough to allow me time out of the bird room. I'm so little and so light, I fly no matter how short the flight feathers are cut. Mom says I just need detachable wings! I think not, but then after getting left behind in my room because the ceiling fans have to be one to keep the cool air circulating, I'm thinking that maybe she's got a good idea there. The fans don't need to be on much right now since the temperatures have even out so once again I'm out and about in the house. Happy Kirby!!
Just so you know, I miss talking with you so very much. I completely understand about busy parronts and all; I just want to say you're missed, my luscious little Luca...

So, here’s what we got. Last year’s Officiatin’ Staff o’ The Birdie BazeBol League’ve been mullin’ it over an’ they’ve come up with a Jim Dandy idea to help stave off the cravin’s that some o’ you Birdie BazeBol Players an’ Fans’ve been sufferin’ from, ‘cause o’ the lack o’ playin’ this Season.
They’ve all put their heads t’gether to give us a one-time opportunity t’ play ourselves a little BazeBol THIS summer! YuP! YaHooooo!! We’re goin’ back t’ Th’ Stadium!!! The 2012 All*Star Birdie BazeBol game’ll be played at KEVLAR Memorial Stadium th’ afternoon o’ Saturday, August 18th. Th’ plan is t’ play BazeBol startin’ at 3:00 pm CENTRAL TIME, an’ then party that night at the same time we always party for Th’ Milonga! (Translation for th’ Time Zone Challenged: 4:00 pm Eastern, 2:00 pm Mountain, 1:00 pm Pacific.That’s for the BazeBol Game now!)
So, I’m here right now t’ fill y’uns in on all th’ What-Not’s an’ Why-For’s of how this thing is gonna work. So tuck yer feathers b’hind yer ear holes and listen up ….
Th’ first thing that has t’ happen is CHOOSIN’ TEAMS.
Here’s how that’s gonna work. See this here hat I got in my wing? Well, right over there on that table is a bunch o’ scraps o’ paper for y’all t’ write your names on an put in th’ hat.
BUT THERE’s A CATCH!
There’s only ONE birdie PER FLOCK allowed to put their name in th’ hat ! ! ! I know. I KNOW! But there’s only 12 positions available on two teams so we gotta make it so’s as many flocks get a chance t’ play as possible, an’ this was the fairest way the Umps could think of.
So … Two teams; twelve players each (10 reg’lar positions an’ 2 reserves). One team’s gonna be ALL GIRL~BIRDS and one team’s gonna be ALL BOY~BIRDS!
We’re gonna keep the “HAT” out ‘til July 15. Then those Umps’ll pick the players for each team out o’ the hat … lottery style. An’ th’ positions’ll be assigned th’ same way too … lottery style.
You can bring all your little pieces o’ paper with your names writ on ‘em t’ my page so’s Th’ Kommish don’t miss any of ‘em. Bring ‘em t’ MY PAGE (#66865). Them ol’ soft hearted Umps decided it would be nice t’ honor th’ most recent Rainbow Bridge Departees in namin’ the teams for this here All*Star Game, just like they honored ‘em at th’ Milonga that night. SO … The GIRL~BIRDS’ team is gonna be called “Th’ Angel Wings” an’ th’ BOY~BIRDS team is gonna be known as “Berts at Bat”. Got a nice ring to it, don’t it?

My heart, it goes all pitter-pat, skippity-do-dah, flip-flip-FLY when you come by. Could this be love? Affirmative. Most definitely.
Molting legs, huh? Ugh. How bothersome. Legs are't exactly the easiest thing to reach and then if you've just GOT to get to an itch and you happen to be standing on a swinging perch, well, suddenly you find yourself acting like a trapeze artist. I hope in the time since you wrote the note about that little bit of picking you were doing, things have settled down and you're back to being that not-a-picker kind of girl. (Did that make ANY sense?) Zoren's sitting here beside me, threatening to pick on me if I don't hurry it up so he can write to his BBB. You get a itch you think might tempt you to pick, call me. I'd be happy to do the scratching and rubbing so you don't have to deal with the temptation.
Those hugs and kisses shared in recent months - it was my pleasure. I'd be more proud of myself if there were actually more of them. You have a smart heart, I want you to know. It knew I was thinking about you!
As for what your little Prince has been up to lately, well, my greatest claim to fame right now is the fresh beak mark right above mom's lip! I don't know what happened but I flew at mom and managed to bite her. No one, including myself, is sure if it was intended or an accident. See, us conure boyz, we claim the big bird room when all those hoodlums go out to the parrot pen. It's nice to have all that extra space to explore, all those unguarded food dishes to rummage through, all those water bowls to bathe in. I have to laugh that none of them know they're drinking bath water just before bedtime!! Anyway, yesterday when mom came plowing threw the door with a macaw on each arm, all three of us boyz jumped, not because we were doing anything we didn't want to be caught doing, nope. No way. I managed to fly right into mom's face and bit down either to hold on or punish her for scaring the livin' beegeebees out of me. Now I just want to pick at the bite mark whenever I'm within kissing distance. Mom told me thanks but the tone wasn't all that thankful.
Thanks for all the kisses and hugs... and the extra kiss at the end. You're the sweetest!

What's new with you? Me, I'm stretchin' out and enjoying the spaciousness of my room. The 'tiels moved out today so now there's all sorts of room for the Kirbster! With the weather looking like it's gonna stay warm and late-spring-like, the 'Tiels were packed up and totted out to the barn where they commenced such a happy bunch of squeaking, it sounded like the gates at DisneyWorld had just opened. The downer about them not being in the room now is that there's not going to be that sprinkle of 'Tiels seeds that are spread out for them on top of the flat cage. I love to run through there grabbing up my favorites. Mom's always telling me that those aren't mine to be picking through but I ignore her. A few safflower seeds aren't going to be missed, certainly.
Still being all lovey~dovey with your Mom? I wanted to be a Mr. Snuggle-Bunny today but I had to let Zoren and Jensen come along for the shoulder time session so that ended the cuddling stuff. Instead, the Z-man and I played King of the Hill, or rather King of the Hair on top of mom's head. I'm proud to say I didn't lose. Didn't win either but the important point for me is that Zoren didn't just swift kick my tail off and call himself the winner. Mom says her hair looks like a rat made a nest in it by the time the two of us settling down to just leaning on each other instead of square-dancing together. And no, we don't really square dance. It's more like judo or sword fighting. I know, we're weird.

Oh Happy Day~

I'm really sorry about all the gloom that beens hanging out your place these past months. Ugh, how heavy that must feel. Wouldn't it be awesome if your mom's trip to sunny Florida could honest and truly brighten things up for her again! Sometimes a little time away is the magic trick that's needed. Of course that always involves us birdies being left behind but if our moms come back with a new spring in their step, then it was worth it.
So you've been really lovey~dovey with your mom lately, huh? I'd be happy to be that with mine if I could just wedge myself in between all the other birds around here who are feeling the same way. Even Alfie, the shy about love Amazon has taken to begging for head scritches and nuzzling. My beak about dropped open when I saw that guy rubbing his head on mom's shoulder and actually enjoying a neck rub! He's never allowed mom to touch him like that before. It's all not good news for me as it only means I have more competition for mom's affections. My only advantage is that as a conure, I one of the few who gets shoulder time. *Kirby sticks his tongue out at Kelly and RaneBeau.* You're a sweetie to help wipe away your mom's tears. No wonder she's feeling a little better.
Thank you for your kind words about the loss of our frother Mozart. That was definitely a downer day. Mom was feeling awful for maybe doing the wrong thing in allowing a physically challenged parrot so much freedom, thinking that if he'd be in his cage, he wouldn't have fallen to his death and would still be with us. But time has allowed her to accept that that would've been terrible for Mo. He loved to be out and about! He hung on his door with great anticipation from the moment mom would walk in the room in the morning. He knew that being on the door would get him swung out when the latch was hit. While he liked to give mom a bad time, he was learning that the longer he resisted the urge to chase after her, the longer he got to stay out and play. With time, mom was hoping to truly convince this precious parrot that not all humans were as bad as the ones that had hurt him in early years. I think that's the hardest part of losing Mo; that chance was cut short. It's this flock's honor to have been given the chance to provide Mo with at least a year's worth of love and entertainment. We'll always miss that little guy. Thank you again, Luca, for your compassion, and that gentle hug you shared. Amazing how a hug can make one feel better, huh?

Hey Luca Pot Pie!!
Yeah mom checked her email late today cause her and Sally was up all night praying. I think they were praying for all the birdies but especially Lil Peeps and Chyna and others that they could remember.

We will surely miss lil peeps, may she rest in peace and our friends at the Rainbow Bridge will take care of her.

Yeah, mom knows well about probate, she's still waiting for it to end and its been 6 years and counting. :(
That's why she is going to church more. Plus she is praying for everybirdie too.

Well, that cream for Sally seems to be letting her not pick at her feathers and skin so its growing back and it might work for your frother too.

Ginger and I saved it from being robbed from 2 big ravens. :)
I've been going to the BC Security school and I think we graduate next week. :) Yipeee, then more training.
Sally has feathers that are starting to grow back cause of this ointment cream thing. Maybe your other fids might want to try it.
Go ask Sally, mom took some pictures of her pin feathers coming out.

Yeah, well the grieving process doesn't go away over night you know, so you'd better take care of your mama. She might have them river days like my mom. I bite her lip when she starts crying, but then that's just me. :)
