 I rescued her from an abusive situation where she was very ill from neglect. I was asked to "bird sit" her and two other birds during the winter months. Living in Northern Michigan our winters are severe. The owner of these birds was spending the winter using wood heat. He used the heating situation as an excuse to get rid of them. He never came back to get them and has never asked about them either. They were in terrible shape and were diagnosed with Beak and Feather. Renegade could not eat because she had a thoat infection. She was frighted and had obviously been abused as well as neglected. That was three years ago and now she is free of beak and feather and doing very well. We have our annual physical's just to be sure all is well. We did lose one of the birds "Popcorn" a Goffins Cockatoo. She died this winter from being egg bound. We were unable to get to the vet (1 hours drive from us)in time. A wonderful little bird and I mourn her death.. |

How lucky you are to have peacocks, my mom and I have never seen one in real life. I'm kinda afraid of birds bigger than I am. I'm sure I wouldn't be afraid of you because you are so nice.It won't be long before mom puts in her garden and I get to eat fresh vegetables,love it......How have you been doing? What have you been up to? The weather is very warm here. How is the weather there? There is A birdfeeder outside of my window and I love to watch the birds. sometimes I tell them hello, but they never answer me back. Then I usually get mad and yell at them,but that just makes them fly away. Still I love it when the windows are open.Come visit me, Sunny.

Hi Renegade, Thank you for your note. I'm not the plucker, my buddy Apollo is. He's still plucking and thankfully his tail feathers are coming back in. He plucks everything except his wings and head. He had a bath the other day and mom wrapped him in a warm towel to keep him warm. It's the weekend and I hope you and your mates enjoy! Hi thanks for visiting my boys and girls (Aries, Apollo & Sunshine). Apollo is the plucker and like your boy, I just can't figure out why they do that. He almost lost his life as he self mutilated himself in the beginning. What a helpless little creature he was. He's full of personality and a bit of a biter. Thank you for stopping by. All of my flock were rescued by mom and dad. Thay can't say no when someone is trying to get rid of their bird! We all get along pretty well. Last night dad gave all of us a shower! I don't like showers, but mom says maybe my feathers will grow back in if I shower more. I especially don't like to be misted! I guess I'm just a "dirty bird". LOL Mom & dad love me even though I don't have any feathers. I talk to them all day, and call "mama" when I lose sight of mom. Stop by again

My brother Groucho is a feather plucker from way back, mom tried everything, more toys, drugs, collars, he just wanted to pluck but he is healthy and loved and now so are you.
