I saw an ad for her on Craig's list. I kept inquiring about her and filled out an adoption application. Her foster home contacted me about a week later and she came home with us on 6/4/2009. Her foster home loved her very much, and this is quite evident in her wonderful disposition and super personality..

Hi! My name is SUSAN, sooo Sweet!

I am a Solomon Islands Eclectus from whiting, NJ.

Red Bird, Sooz, Sweetheart, lil griffin, Su Su, Lil Sooz, Suzy

7 years old   F

Solomon Islands Eclectus

Susan likes cinnamon sticks, banana, hard boiled egg whites with egg shells and fresh cantaloupe. She also likes to have a tiny bit of hard cheddar cheese as a treat (all of the birdies in our flock love this!!)

Her swing, her play top, and on anyone's shoulder or hand. She loves it especially when Mom cuddles with her at night! She is a Mamma's girl!

Susan gets nervous when she is perched on your hand and you are carrying her down a flight of steps. I am not sure why she doesn't like going down stairs, but she doesn't. I always have to cradle her against my body and tell he "it's ok", when I go down a flight of steps with her. She also doesn't like thunder storms and lightening strikes. (She was happy when we closed the blinds on the sliding glass door, so that she could no longer see out during a lightening storm.)

Susan loves her new home and her big new cage. Her foster home was very thoughtful and sent her off with some of her favorite toys and some of the food that she had been eating. (I don't know what she would do without her swing!) Susan likes the fact that we let her be herself, and she seems to be enjoying the variety of different foods that she has been getting since she has been here. She especially likes fresh vegetables and fruits. Susan likes getting new toys and she especially likes chasing around a little ball with a bell inside of it. She plays on the floor of her cage with the ball. She throws it around like a puppy playing! Susan is a crazy and playful girl! Susan seems to like having her cage kept spic and span clean; and she likes trying "to help out" while I do this for her.

Susan loves her baths; and she enjoys being fussed over when I dry her and fluff her feathers for her. (Like a lady being spoiled and fussed over in a beauty salon!)Susan also can't keep her beak off of anyone's jewelry. SHE IS SUCH A GIRL! Susan loves to swing on her swing really fast. It is funny how she pushes off of the sides of her cage to make herself swing!!! She also likes to dip some of her food in her water dish before she eats it. Susan has a very loud scream that she does on random and without warning. The first time that I heard it was very startling. Pedro and Rocket were just hanging out on their perches when Susan decided to scream...both birds went flying off in different directions! Susan can get a reaction out of anyone with her prehistoric sounding dinosaur scream! (I think that I heard her laugh when Rocket and Pedro went blasting off of their perches!!! LOL) Thankfully we don't hear this noise from her very often. Susan also enjoys immitating new noises. The other night we were watching a movie on TV that had a military theme to it. There was alot of machine gun fire in it; and it did not take long and before we knew it Susan was also "firing her machine gun"! Susan joined in the battle for the entire rest of the movie, and really seemed to be enjoying herself while she did it. She is quite a character and we love her SOOOOOOO much! Susan is a cheerleader for the Bird Channel "Wonder Wings" baseball team. Susan loves to make "owl calls" to the crowd during the games. She gets very excited and swings back and fourth very fast on her swing, when the team scores a run! LOL.

Make noise when everyone else in the flock does...and then they won't know that it is you!!

  Hey Susan....
Happy Humpday!!!

Sorry I have to make this short my mommy has to go to PT today.

Everyone did an awesome job with answers. But lots of them was half answers because of the confusion on the date.My bad...

My mommys uncle was in the barrocks in Pine Ridge in 1973.He was also an active member of AIM. AIM started off as a peaceful group defending the traditional ways of our tribes.Years later they were called militants and a lot of bad stuff because they had to go to war with the government and the BIA(We call the BIA bossing Indians around)
One sided yes.Our government is very one sided. It's ok for them to kill and inprison us but when we fight back we are called militants. We are warriors!!!

Everyone who answered my question about AIM can go to my gallery and pick up a pendleton blanket and post it on thier gallery. The blankets also make awesome backgrounds for our pictures. Alot of Native American babies use them for that too.

Todays question What tribe are my tribe's the Northern Cheyennes worse enemies and why...

Get your research on and win some beautiful Native American Jewelery.

Muck Love to all my friends and relations.

Pecked a V4U...Today my campaign blog will about the Houdini Museum..The Houdini Museum was established in 1988 at Scranton, Pa. It is in a turn-of-the-20thcentury building that has been entirely renovated.Houdini performed in Scranton and did several special challenges there. His brother, Hardeen, also appeared in Scranton and in its sister city, Wilkes Barre. Documents & letters attesting to this are on display at the museum & on its website. Houdini, performed at the Poll Theater for S.Z.Poll in Scranton, that was part of the Keith-Albee-Orpheum Circut at the time. This would become the RKO Movies Circut. The Houdini Tour, Show & Museum attraction is one of Scranton's most popular things to do and is highly rated. Stories about the Museum and its performers have been featured in recent years on television shows throughout the world. The live show at the Museum includes two of the best, nationally known magicians, Dorothy Dietrich & John Bravo(aka Ray Carter & Dick Brooks). The Houdini Museum covers Houdini's career and facts about Houdini. The Houdini Museum has national & international significance, especially since the tragic fire of an exhibit in Niagara Falls in May 1995. A part of the exhibit was on display for 13 years at the Magic Towne House in New York City. The Houdini Museum features memorabilia, artifacts, mannequins and films of the master magician. The Houdini Tour also includes a magic show as part of the tour...This is another point of interest to see while visiting the Pocono Region..Thank you every birdie who continue to vote for me everyday..I appreciate it very much...Have a great Tuesday....Many wing hugs to you...CYDNEY :o)

Pecked a V4U..Today I will be talking about the Pocono Snake & Animal Farm, Marshalls Creek....Jack Lowris founder of the long-time Pocono attraction, was a police officer in New Jersey who was fascinated with snakes..He decided to open a rattlesnake building & Lowris made his dream come true in 1969 when he built a world of snakes, monkeys, birds and other exotic animals in Marshalls Creek..With more than 100 reptiles & animals to care for the workers at Pocono Snakes & Animal farm keep a tight schedule.. The workers have a strict routine every morning they cut up fresh fruits to feed the animals and fill bottles to feed the pigs & goats..They also make sure that each animal is clean & place ready to go for lots of tourists...Walking into the farm is like walking into a jungle with animals that many have seen on television..The farm houses guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, alligators, monkeys, a bear, wolf, turtles, a leopard, deer, goats, a mountain lion, a bobcat & more..All of the animals here at the farm are donations from the state, individuals and rescues..None of the animals are wild...At the front door desk patrons can purchase food to feed the alligators, monkeys & other animals..The goats can also be fed with a baby bottle filled with milk..Many of the animals are celebrities or known for their unique personalities & amazing stories...Shelly the 150 lb. turtle is a century old..She once appeared on the "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson"...Another amazing story Hemingway a male alligator was found in a New York City apartment & rescued by Animal Planet's own "Animal Cops" before being donated to Pocono Snake & Animal Farm...This is not a big building where they are housed but whenever passing it the parking lot is always crowded..Some people do find this a place of interest while visiting in the Poconos....Hope you all are having a nice Monday...Thank every birdie who does vote for me during my campaign to be BOTM...Many wing hugs....CYDNEY :o)

Check out my gallery...

Today I'm posting a picture of the war pony I'm putting up for adoption. There's one catch...There is only one war pony left in the castle grounds corral. If you can tell me what AIM stands for and why they were so important to alot of our tribes you can pick up the war pony and bring him home.He is beautiful and strong. And he runs like the wind !!! So get your research on and and the first bird who sends me the correct answer will win.

No luck in house hunting yet.Beach property taxes are really high here. We went to Palos Verdes where my mommy loves to go and that was sky high. If we don't find a house soon we will be looking for a house in the mountains where its cool all year long...

Much love to you

  Hey Susan....
Thank you for liking my skin brother Circling Eagles poem...Theres a picture of him in my gallery. The young boy dancing in a powwow.
During this time period he wrote the poem.
Without even thinking of what he would write about. His heart opened up and all his feelings came out...
When the powwows starting turning commercial a lot of our friends from different tribes and reservations from different states slowly went away.
The saddness ripped through everyones hearts and it felt like our hearts where being ripped out of all of us...
Alot of these youngsters grew up together meeting at Powwows and sitting on the bleachers on cold nights sharing blankets and drinking hot chocolate and eating frybread together...

Elders from different tribes would sit together and talk about thier traditions and share coffee and frybread and tell stories.

When everyone got up to dance in the sacred circle there was a presence of love and pride so strong it was overwhelming in a good way.
Now the only real traditional powwows are held on our reservations.
We all miss those days so much.We know it will never be the same.

This weekend I will be in lockdown while my mommy and daddy go house hunting.
I probably won't be back until Monday...

Happy TGIF

After a year with no natural snow, the resort installed snow making in 1981...Several years later night skiing became available...As of 2010, Shawnee is a mid-sized ski area with two bases, 44 trails, 5 lifts and extensive night skiing...Also at Ski Shawnee during the months they have hold many different Festivals & Events such as: 1.   Hey Susan....
Happy Thursday !!!
As I promised I am going to share my big skin brother's Poem...
His name is Circling Eagle Bigfoot from my Grandfathers clan.
The Elk Horn Scraper Clan...This clan in my tribe are heavy duty medicine men and they are also match makers.

Circling Eagle was 8 years old when he wrote this poem. This poem brought him to be SO-Cals Indian student of the year...

This poem is over 20 years old and has won the SO-CAL state finals in the short poems division. It is very heart felt and it is what a young Native American boy can see from behind his eyes. At the time he wrote the poem there was great saddness because of the change in our Traditional Pow Wow circuit because it starting catering to the by standers who made it commercial more than traditional. My family was raised on the PowWow trail and they all saw our traditional ways being put a side.Leaving a mere memory of the good times.Todays Pow wows will never be the same.

Here's the poem
I'm just an Indian boy Written by Circling Eagle Bigfoot

I'm just an Indian Boy
I struggle to stay alive
So my traditional ways can survive

I'm just an Indian boy
I walk the narrow read mans road
I try to stay strong and bold

I'm just an Indian boy
The Elders say I must fight to live another day
That is the only way

I'm just an Indian boy
I hold my head up proud
And walk like Thunder thats loud

I'm just an Indian boy
I must fight for my people and defend
So our traditional ways will not end
I will always defend

I'm just an Indian boy
My eyes are filled with tears
I'm still a young boy with fears

I'm just an Indian boy
Just like the elders say
Sometimes are enemies have to kill us
Because they can't kill our spirit

I'm just an Indian boy
I will fight on for my people forever

By Circling Eagle Bigfoot.

Have an awesome day to all my friends and relations

  Hey Susan....
I'm finally back on BC after a very irritating weekend. My mommy tried to rest and heal up and my daddy got the summer flu. Trust me this dude whined and whined all week end. My mommy took him to the doctor on Monday and it was not all that bad. I got so tired of him whining so when he came to my cage and stuck his head in it to say hi to me I lunged and attacked...GAME OVER DADDY !!! Heehee!!!
Sick Daddys are a pain !!!

Today as promised I will be continue you the story about the Medicine woman and the bear.

As Falco runs out to fight the Crow warriors she grabs her war shield and runs out from her hiding place.
She see's the Crow Warriors with a beautiful brown bear. The bear is tied up and the crow warriors are dragging the bear to the fire to burn him. They are poking him with spears and trying to torture him. As Falco approaches she aims her arrow at the Crow Warriors ready to take them down. They see Falco and drop the bear in the fire as they try to run. The bear looks at Falco and say's please shoot me. You will release my spirit and your strong and powerful medicine...

With tears in Falcos eyes she shoots her arrow at the bear and suddenly the smoke coming from the fire turns into a huge swarm of mosquitos and they attack the Crow warriors. The Crow warriors run off screaming into the wilderness with the mosquitos chasing them. Falco falls to her knees and starts to cry. Then she hears a soft voice whispering in her ear saying Falco please shoot one of your arrows into the fire.We are meant to be together forever.
I have been watching you and always loved you. Please release my spirit !!! Falco stands up and shoots her arrow into the fire and
a big puff of smoke covers the fire. As she watches she see's a Strong and handsome Warrior walking out of the smoke. He walks up to Falco and says you released me from my bears body and now we are together for life... I was cursed many years ago by the Crow nation and because of you I'm free !!!
Falco and Medicine Bear go back to thier camp and get married. They live a long happy life together and have many children.
Because of what the Crow nation did the mosquitos fly in anger and bite hoomans...

Much love to you

Pecked a V4U...Again I want to thank every birdie who come by and peck a vote and help me become BOTM....Have a great Sunday...My campaign blog today will be about yet another place to visit when you are in the Poconos....Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm....Quiet Valley Farm is a historic working farm that is operated as an open-air museum...The farm encompasses 100 acres of pasture, woods & fields that is located within Stroudsburg, Pa. The farm consists of a farm house, a spring house, cabin, a school house, a barn, a frame was house, fruit drying house, smoke house, ice house, storage shed & wagon shed. Not only does it provide shelter for farm animals but, it also grows a wide variety of traditional crops. This beautiful farm is a step back into Colonial Times when life was simple & self-sufficiency was more important than it is today. Quiet Valley's 14 buildings are interpreted by costumed "family" guides who share the daily routines of a thrifty & industrious Pennsylvania Dutch Family & its descendants who lived at this location from 1765 to 1913. Guided tours & demonstrations take place on a continuous basis. The mail building has a large cellar-kitchen with an earthen floor & a huge fireplace. Here visitors cam see cooking demonstrations & learn about the life of Colonial Women. The bedroom includes a tester bed(a tester is a canopy) trundle bed & a cradle.A small parlor was added just beyond this this room during the 1890's and a "modern" kitchen with iron range & dry sink can be seen in this building as well. A "farmer" guide can be seen using farm equipment of many decades ago in the big barn and spinning & weaving demonstrations take place in the "granddaddy house." Throughout the complex, the following activities can be seen on a daily basis: spinning, weaving of flax or wool, meat smoking, drying of fruits & vegetables, gardening, cooking or baking, tending of animals and Colonial handcrafts. The farm features a full range of barnyard animals, work horse, cow, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, cats, dogs and others and kids can touch them..Children can also enjoy a "hay Jump". Opened on selected days in Spring and Fall & on a regular schedule from late June through Labor Day, Tues - Sat 10 am - 5 pm, Sunday 12 pm - 5 pm. Closed Mondays except Labor Day.Admission : Adults $10, Seniors(62+) $9, Children(3-12) $5 & Children under 3 free. Pecked a V4U...First I would like to thank every birdie who has come by my page with their vote for me to be BOTM...Today I will take you to another beautiful Falls here in the Poconos....History of Bushkill Falls(part 1)....Bushkill Falls is nicknamed "Niagara Falls of Pa." and is among the Keystones State's most famous attractions.Bushkill Falls is a series of 8 privately owned waterfalls, the tallest of which cascades over 100 ft.Located in Northeast Pa.'s, Pocono Mountains. Beginning at the head waters of Little Bushkill Creek. The water descends the mountain toward the Delaware River, forming Bushkill Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Bridesmaid Falls, Laurel Falls, Pennell Falls and three additional unnamed Falls. As the water begin their descent toward the Delaware River below, they move faster toward Bushkill Falls, rushing over Pennell falls, then between rocky walls through the upper Canyon and Laurel Glen.Suddenly the stream drops over the edge of a 100 foot cliff, the majestic Main Falls. From the deep pool at the bottom, banked by ferns, mosses and wild flowers, the creek now drops another 70 ft.through a long and spectacular gorge strewn with a gigantic boulder. Trail and bridges lace the area, affording splendid views.Nature hikers can take a 2.5 mile of hiking trails and are enthusiastic about the walk to the Bridal Veil Falls. Here you will follow a nice trail by the pond run stream. The stream soon flows into the Little Bushkill where the mountain path leads deep into the forest. Spring-fed waters tumble down the mountain side in a series of three lovely falls, so misty in their appearance they are named for brides in love.Charles E. Peters first opened Bushkill Falls to the public in 1904 with a single path and a swinging bridge over head of the Main Falls. Bushkill Falls is still owned by the Peter's family. There is an admission fee for the park per day of $12.50 for Adults, $11.50 for Seniors and $7 for children ages 4-10 yrs. Tomorrow I will give you the other activities they have there which is about 8 and also will tell you about all the trails you can walk and how long it takes approximately for each...Plus there will be some pictures posted in my gallery to look at...Have a great Friday...I do hope this will be another place of interest to you..Many birdie wing hugs....CYDNEY :o)

Happy Saturday !!! My mommy needed to rest her shoulders yesterday and did not get to my blogs. So from time to time if you don't hear from me that means my mommy's resting and I'll be back.
We are expecting 107 degrees today. Yesterday was too hot and todays hotter. I don't want to think about the temps by Sunday. They will be going up everyday. YUCK !!! Sorry about the c/p but my mommy has some catching up to do.

Here's my continuation to Falcos story...Part two

Falco was a very happy and beautiful medicine woman that was held in high regard amoung her tribe the Northern Cheyenne. She loved all the animals and was happy with them.
The only thing was she was very lonely for a husband and the warriors in her tribe were scared to ask her to marry them because of her tribal status.
Her Father Gus said don't worry my beautiful daughter you are blessed and grow more beautiful by the day.
Falco said to her father whats a blessing of beauty when I have no man to share it with. Falcos father Gus hugs her and says one day you will run paths with a totally unique and strong warrior and he will love you as you will love him. Falco shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
Falco walks to the mountains to pray to MAH-HEY-YOH.As she lights her sage to pray she hears the enemy of the Northern Cheyenne the Crow Nation speaking thier language to one another.
Falco hides behind a tree and watches them and what they are doing. And what she sees angers her heart and brings tears to her eyes.Falco is also a great Warrior and she steps out ready to fight !!!

Part three continued tomorrow.

Much love to you

Pecked a V4U...First I would like to thank everyone who continuously pecks a vote for me..Certainly appreciate each and every one..Have a great Thursday...Now I will do part 2 of my campaign blog...It is about the Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary that is a big part of the Dorflinger Glass Museum..Since 1980 the nearly 600 acre grounds of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary have preserved the natural beauty & wildlife of Northeastern, Pa. The Sanctuary is dedicated to the preservation of woodlands & open spaces and so much more. It is home to the Dorflinger Glass Museum that is dedicated to preserving the magnificent glass in White Mills from 1852 to 1921 with over 900 pieces of cut engraved, etched, glided & enameled crystal the museum proudly displays the nations largest collection of Dorflinger Glass...During the summer months the tranquil sanctuary gives life to the Wildflower Music Festival. This annual outdoor Music Festival brings the finest musicians to the area performing classical, jazz, folk, bluegrass and chamber repertoires. There is no better place to be on a Saturday evening than under the majestic pines, listening to quality music while enjoying a picinic supper & a glass of wine. Although the property of the Sanctuary extends nearly 600 acres, the preservation efforts of the organization move past the boundaries into the village of White Mills. Those efforts began with restoring one of the original seven houses built by Christian Dorflinger as homes of the workers he brought from France. It now serves as a reminder of a worker's life in 1867. Finally, back to this quietly beautiful place called a sanctuary. Miles of well-maintained walking trails clear the mind & refresh the soul. During the winter months, there is a special solitude in the swish of cross-country skis breaking through the snow. It all fosters the belief that enduring valves are part of a worthwhile way of life that should be preserved for & shared with future generations...Tomorrow I will be talking about yet another place of interest that is visited by many here in the Poconos...Hope you will find this campaign blog of some interest..Many birdie wing hugs....CYDNEY :o)

Pecked a V4U..Thanks to everyone who come by daily and peck a vote for me...I really appreciate it...Today I will be talking about Dorflinger-Suydam Glass Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in Historic White Mills, Pa...This will be in 2 parts..Today will be the Dorflinger Glass Museum...Home to the nations largest collection of Dorflinger glass. See more than 1,000 pieces cut, engraved, etched, gilded and enameled crystal. Beginning 1860s, Christian Dorflinger transformed White Mills from a sleepy hamlet on the banks of the Lackawaxen River into a bustling industrial center. For more than half a century the Dorflinger glass works produced exquisite cutlead crystal that graced many of America's finest tables, including those of several White House administrations. The Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary acquired its first piece of Dorflinger glass in Sept. 1981 as a gift from Agnes Houth Balsden. Mrs. Balsden gave a Marlboro pattern decanter in memory of her father, Fred Houth, who had worked in the Dorflinger factory. Many glass acquisitions followed & were held in a vault at an area bank as there was no museum to display them. In 1986, the trustees of the Sanctuary began a campaign to Raise $150,000 to construct a museum on the sanctuary grounds. With the generous support of the community, the fund drive surpassed its goal in the fall of 1987. At that time, noted glass expert Helen Barger agreed to donate more than 300 pieces of Dorflinger glass. The trustees named renowned Dorflinger expert Ray La Tournous curator of the budding museum in the winter of 1987. He was charged with the tasks of developing the collection & training volunteers. Construction of the building was completed in 1988. On May 20, 1989 the glass museum opened to the public. In 1991 acting curator Mark Eggenberger installed a display of glass from Dirflinger family members June Hardy & Jane Beers.Henry J.Loftus, Jr. was appointed curator in 1992 & continues in that position today. With more than 1,000 pieces, the Dorflinger Glass Museum is recognized as having the largest display of Dorflinger glass in the natiion..Volunteers donate their time to staff the museum & museum shop. The museum must generate enough revenue each year to support its costs. Admission & museum shop sales are the primary sources of funds for the museum. The Sanctuary support the museum by maintaining the building & grounds through the services of General Manager Tom Dein. The museum could not operate on its own without the support of the Sanctuary...Cost of Admission is Adults $5, Members & Seniors(55+)$4, Ages 6-18 $2.Tomorrow I will talk about the Wildlife Sanctuary and add pictures to my gallery...Hope you all are having a great Wednesday...Many birdie wing hugs....CYDNEY :o)

Happy Humpday !!! The house in Redondo Beach was a no !!! My mommy said the weather there felt so good and it only five blocks from the beach.
The house would have cost thousands to fix and wouldn't be ready to live in for years. So my mommy and daddy are still looking for a home in a beach city. We are all fed up with the heat here !!!

Today I'm starting a three part story that I didn't have time to do during my BOTM run.
Falco this is for you !!!

The Bear and the medicine woman...Part one...

There was a beautiful medicine woman named Falco. She loved the animals so much that everyday she would go to the mountains to feed them. She would spend time with the animals and read them stories and bathe them in the river. One day when Falco went to the mountains to feed and spend time with all her animal friends they followed her home.Falco let them build their homes around her lodge and they all loved each other so much. There was one animal that loved Falco so much he wanted to marry her...

I'll be back with part two on Thursday.Remember to V4 Cydney!

Pecked a V4U...Thanks again everyone who comes by daily with their vote for me to be BOTM..They are all greatly appreciated..Hope you all are having a nice Tuesday...Today I will be talking about another nice place to visit for some while they are here in the Poconos..It is the Cherry Valley Vineyards Winery..In 1912 an Italian Man came to the U.S. in search of the America Dream..After meeting his wife Mary and moving to the Pocono's he started Sorrenti's Cherry Valley Vineyards in 1981.Among one of the first to attempt growing grapes in a climate where others deemed it impossible and making wines of fruit and the local local Vitis Lambrisca grapes.Sorrenti set the bar for future wine makers & wineries in the area.Since then his son Nicolas has studied both at the vineyard and at US Davis in California perfecting his skills as winemaker. He has refined the taste and elegance of the wines at Cherry Valley Vineyards and has won over one hundred awards as results. The wine available in Pa.may sound unfamiliar at first. Names like Marachel Foch, Boco Noir, Leon Millot and Chambourin are used to identify the types of grapes we grow in Pa.The winery is known for its variety of wine and they offer a range of flavors to suit palate. They make known varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Grigio as well as a variety of fruit wines and Carbonated Spumantes for those who like it sweet. Some go to the vineyards to enjoy a sampling of their fine wines. They offer tasting 7 days a week and their staff will be happy to serve you.Aside from wine tasting & tours they plan events for their visitors to attend, like their annual Grape Stomp& Harvest Party.Every Sunday from May-Sept. is Sangria Sunday, with fresh made Sangria, free live music and light fare..In 2010 Mary & Dominic Sorrenti sold 187 acres of land to the Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge. His was the first parcel in the reserve and the land has been proclaimed to host hundreds of unique species of wildlife and is home to the Bog Turtle. The entrance to the park, is located alongside of the winery. Their guests are invited to partake in exploring the reserve & learning about the significance, diversity & importance of the Wildlife Refuge...This Cherry Hill Vineyards Winery & Wildlife Refuge is located in beautiful Cherry Valley, with some of the most breath taking grounds in the area...Tomorrow I will take you to yet another place here in the Pocono's that is of much interest to many people that come here for the visit...Many birdie wing hugs....CYDNEY :o)

I'm finally back !!! My mommy is still recovering from her surgery in this horrible hot weather and she had the summer flu all at once.
We had two days of cooler weather and the temps are going up to 105 degrees and will stay in the triple digits until next weekend.
Once again we don't believe the weather geeks on the news because it's always hotter than what they say it will be. My mommy firmly believes that this climate where we live is to harsh for hoomans.
Hoomans here in Perris SO-CAL don't look as healthy as hoomans in other cities and thier temps are not so hot like they are over here. BUMMER !!!
I'm sorry I have to c/p today but my mommy has another post op appointment and she's catching up on my blogs.

The temps are supposed to drop to 89 degrees today.Hopefully the weather geeks on the news are not lying again !!!

Tonight when my daddy gets home he's taking my mommy grocery shopping. I can't wait to sink my beak into those yummy peaches and carrot tops she brings home.

Tomorrow I might not be on BC cause my Mommy and daddy are going to Redondo beach to check out a fixer upper house. My mommy hopes they get it.
But first they got to see how much work is involved in fixing it up.
That would be nice to get out of this hot city and move close to the beach. The cool enviroment would make mommy a happy camper.

As for me and my flock we get lockdown with the skin sibs watching us tiels.

  HI SUSAN!!!!
Pecked a V4U...I am running for BOTM...Here is one of my campaign blogs.....Well today I am able to get on and do my campaign blog a bit earlier...Yipee!!! they are done working on the lines so it can be much earlier tomorrow...It will be a part 1 and finish part 2 tomorrow...Hope you all enjoy...The subject will be Lake Wallenpaupack located near Hawley, Pa.......Lake Wallenpaupack is a fresh water lake in Pennsylvania..It is the third largest lake in Pennsylvania measuring 52 miles of shore line, 13 miles in length, 60 feet deep at points and has in excess of 5,700 acres of surface water. It was created in 1926 by PPL the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company for hydroelectric purposes as well as flood control; however, it is best known as one of several major recreational destinations in the Pocono Mountains. Is is located near the city of Hawley and includes the counties of Pike and Wayne located in Northeastern Pa.The Lenape Indians named the area "Wallenpaupack"which means"The stream of swift and slow water."William Penn later owned the land and then deeded it to his son.Who then gave it to James Wilson One of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
In order to create the lake, PPL constructed a dam on Wallenpaupack Creek at Wilsonville and a levee.(Tapton Dike)The project 2,700 men almost 2 years to complete and 7 months for the reservoir to fill after the dam was closed off. The land of Wilsonville and the surrounding area in the valley was purchased by PPL from about 100 owners at about $20 and acre and most of the property was razed or moved. Some houses remained, and as the valley was flooded the water was so clear that one could see the houses under the water. In all 17 miles of roads and utility poles were rerouted and Purdytown Cemetery had to be relocated. The former town of Wilsonville now lies under the water near the dam. PPL manages 3,300 acres of land around the lake as well. While homeowners have access rights they must apply for permits things such as landscaping to installing exterior lights and cannot cut down vegetation to improve their view of the lake. A provision to keep the man-made lake natural...Tomorrow I will continue part 2 with the recreations that the lake has...Hope you will find this article of interest..I want to thank everybody who votes for me daily to be BOTM..Have a wonderful day..Lots of birdie wing hugs..Love, CYDNEY :o)

Navajo code talkers conclusion
Recruiters visited the Navajo rez and selected 30 code talkers. One dropped out so 29 started the program. Many of these were young Navajos who never left the Rez,making the transition to military life more difficult.Yet they perserved.
They would work night and day helpingto create the code.Once the first 29 were finished, two remained behind to train future Navajo code talkers.
The program was successful. The entire Navajo Nation had 50,000
people.By the end of the war 420 Navajo men worked as code talkers !!!

I salute all the Navajo Code talkers and our U.S soldiers. Please say a prayer for our military. They work hard to protect all of us and our freedom !!!

In U.S history the things that happened to us Native Americans were tragic.Invaders and settlers took most of our lands and misunderstood our culture and killed us in the thousands.
Then during World War 2 ,the U.S goverment needed our Navajo Brothers to help. And though they suffered greatly from this same government our Navajo brothers proudly answered the call to duty.

Communication is very essential during any War.
Codes were often used, but broken. In 1942 a man named Philip Jonhston thought of a code that would be un breakable by the enemy.
A code based on the Navajo Language...

Be here for the conclusion tommorow...

Truthfully I wasn't sure how a lot of you would respond to it !!! The response was awesome !!! Today I'm taking you to school. It's all about questions and answers.

What color represents death ???
What color represents life ???
What color represents power ???

Who is MAH-HEY-YOH ???
What are the four directions ???
What is sage and cedar used for and how is it used ???

What are the different catagories in Powwow dancing ???

Whats the difference between traditional Powwows and non traditional Powwows ???

What two types of Powwows are there ???

Why do we have a special day for our Elders ???

At what age does a boy become a warrior ???

What reservation do we come from and where is it ???

Who are those awesome birds in my photo gallery ???

Who is that boy dancing in a Powwow ???

What is the favorite food of all Native American tribes ???

Put on your thinking caps and give me your answers.

Tomorrow I will be starting an awesome blog for all of you.

  Hey Susan....
Happy Tuesday !!!

The puter is fixed for now and my skin sis will be typing my blogs for me as I dictate to her while I'm sitting on my mommys shoulder preening my mommy's hair.

Thank you all for sending your heart felt prayers and get well wishes to my mommy. The surgery went well and was way better than her last surgery. Now she's resting her shoulder and making the skin sibs do everything.Heehee !!!

My blogs will be short and they will get to the point. I'm trying to squeeze in as much as I can for my campaine and for you...

Today I'm taking you to a very touchy subject. Something most hoomans don't like to think or talk about but it's real and part of our circle of life...

Traditionl Northern Cheyenne Burials.

In my tribe the color white is the color of death. We use white when our loved ones go to the other side.
Burial clothes are made with soft white doe hide and the moccasins are baby soft.
The reason for this is when we all go to the other side we walk into the light where its all white and bright. When we arrive in the consel of elders with MAH-HEY-YOH we arrive being born again. Thats the reason why we use soft buckhide as soft as a baby's skin.

Black is the color of power and red is the color of life that runs through our veins.

When a tribal member or loved one goes to the other side we bathe them for their journey and bless them. We mourn for four days and nights, Some of us may cut ourselfs to ease the pain of the loss and some of us cut our hair to ease the pain of our loss. In my tribe long hair is an honor to have especially with the men.

After four day's and nights of mounrning we bury our departed one sitting up so when they arrive in the counsel of elders they will be sitting in the sacred circle with them. Mah-Hey-Yoh will then judge the our departed who has moved on to the other side.

Our tribal medicine man and holy man will then pray for four day's and nights. After they recieve thier answer they will tell us which consel or departed ones will go into. All of our departed will forever be happy and not suffer. We will then have a celebration with lots of food for them.

This is part of my world that not too many people outside of my tribe know about...
I'm sharing this with you.
Remember death is part of life in our circle. Be good,Do good and never lie or hurt or harm anyone. Always listen to our creator and obey his words to us. If you listen closely will hear a soft gentle loving voice whispering in your ear. You will know it's the creator. And also always remember in time of war when we are forced to kill we will be held in high honor here in this world and up in the stars where we all will be. There's never an end to life.
There's always a new beginning...

  Hi Susan
Kiddo here, filling in for my frother in feathers, Panther. His mom called and their puter is still down, so I am using his log on to continue his campaign for him at least for today and tomorrow when his mom is going in for her surgery. She thinks she will be back to blogging the day after that, but my mom had the same surgery and says she is smoking something funny in her peace pipe if she thinks she will be up to blogging that quick! We shall see.

Anyway Panther has had such an interesting campaign for us this month with a lot to learn about our Northern Cheyenne Native Americans. He wanted to ask each of you what is the most interesting thing you have learned about them this month?

Thanks for Panther,
Kiddo

  Hey Susan....
Happy TGIF !!!

Before I say anything I would like to introduce you to my second oldest brother Circling Eagle Bigfoot...He's the dancer on my profile picture. My mommy made everything he's wearing.
We all call him Eagle for short heehee !!!
Eagle is my second oldest skin bro. And on this picture he was only 7 years old. The elders in my family taught him to dance the right way.
He's a Northern Traditional dancer and being on the Powwow Trail all his life he started winning in Powwow dance competitions all over the US.
He is also well known and respected throughout the Powwow circut and Native American land.

My mommy went to Bank of America in Norco and she saw a painting of him on the banks wall.
It said young Native American boy. My mommy contacted the artist Francis Frazier who took a picture of him dancing and she said she had been working on painting his picture for many years and his picture traveled all over the U.S with her...
Anyway my mommy wanted to buy the picture from Francis but she said it was sold to a customer who wanted it. BUMMMER !!!
She told my mommy she would have given it to her...

Let me get back on track now heehee !!!
I'm going to talk to you about Powwows.
There is Northern protocol and Southern protocol Powwows. My tribe is Northern so our powwows we go to are all Northern protocal Powwows...

We have a variety of dance catagories such as Northern Traditional, Northern grass dance, Men's Northern fancy dance...
The women have womens Northern traditional buck hide or cloth dresses, Jingle dress dance, and womens Northern Fancy shawl dresses...

Some powwows are traditional and social and some powwows are contest and pay off with big money to the winners...

At Powwows we eat lots of fry bread and Native American tacos and chili stew. At night we are still eating frybread with hot coffee
or hot cocoa.
Every Powwow we went to we always met lots of powwow buddy's who stays our buddy's for life.
Some Powwows last all weekend and some over night.
Being there is awesome and magical with lots of love between different tribes.
A powwow with different tribes are called intertribal...

Thank you for your votes

Tomorrow I will continue with the singers and drummers at Powwows

  Hey Susan....
Happy Thursday !!!

Because of lack of time I have to make this blog short and to the point !!!

The Battle of little Big Horn... Custers last stand...

In late 1875 Cheyenne and Sioux Warriors were mad over the continued raids of Custer and his men going into our sacred lands and the black hills...

Our tribes gathered in Montana with great War Chiefs ready to fight for our tribes and our lands.
The following Spring two victories over the U.S calvary gave us strengh and spirit to fight on.

In the summer of 1876 was Custers last stand...
Custer and his men came to raid our camps and kill more of us.
Thinking there was only women, elders and children there they rode their horses into a trap !!!

As they approached what they thought was a camp with women, elders and children they got surrounded and out numbered by warriors from my tribe and the Sioux...

On that day only 60 warriors were killed and 262 men with Custer were killed in less than an hour.
What a time of victory it was for us !!!

History say's that Custer's body was found unmutilated and naked.
No thats not the truth...Custers body was never found !!! He was seen being killed. By our Warriors. But his body never found...
Some beleive that Custers body was put into a mass grave with his fallen men !!!
He dose not deserve a decent burial with honors and recognition.
Custer was by all means a coward and a cold blooded killer !!!

To this day the warriors have passed down from generation to generation. The sacred hat and clothing that belonged to Custer.
He was stripped naked when he died so the warriors could stake claim and victory !!! One of our tribe's are the keepers of the sacred hat...I can't tell you who because of the sacred vow of silence we made in those matters...

So the elders told us that's what really went down.Generations upon generations of our families have been told the real truth.
Trust me your hearing this first hand from real elders that were there and witnessed the battle. We are the real deal !!!
This is told the same way from generation to generation.

To this present day my tribe will go to the sight where we won victory over Custer and offer sage to our fallen warriors.
When it's quite we can hear the ghosts screaming out in the battle field and when we close our eyes the spirits of our fallen Warriors will take us with them on the battle feild and we can see things that went down that nobody outside of our tribes can see...

Like we all say History is a lie agreed upon. How do these so called historians know if they were not there ??? They just agree upon things because they don't know...They all guess at it and agree upon it.

Thank you for your votes
