  Hi Maghee
Thanks for visting me. I am glad I stay inside in the summer. I hear mom and dad say how hot it is outside. It is getting over 100 and close to 110. Too hot for me. The rest of the year isn't bad though so it is just getting though summer.

Come visit me, Hilda (even though I am a boy), Sunny & Pierre.

  Hi Maghee,
Welcome to BC (I think it is fun getting to know other birds here). My dad said he has family in Bangor but I don't know what it is like there. Come by and visit sometime. I am a different kind of conure and have different members in my flock too.

Come visit me, Hilda (even though I am a boy), Sunny & Pierre.

Good morning! Thats great that you talk!Mom wishes I did. I make funy sounds and I also do the kissing sounds. Kissing mom is one of my fav pastimes. Mom had the same problem with finding a dusky. She really wanted one, but there weren't many around. She didn't find any rescues and there were not many local breeders who had them. Icarus was bought from a specialty bird store. They were a bit pricey, they offered no guarantess, warantees, or banding on the birds. Icarus had a twisted back toe that she had a vet look at within 3 days of buying him and they claimed it could not be fixed, but that he would live a normal life without it functioning. The store said he was born with it like that. She kept him and things worked out fine, but goes to show that sometimes those specialty bird stores aren't always great either. I recommend breeders if you can't find a reccue bird you want. Mom did find me at Petco however and despite the fact that I was overpriced, she was very happy with me. She went to my store often for supplies and kept seeing me every visit hanging in my cage, playing around. Whenever she approached me I would smoosh up against the glass as if to say "hey, wanna play?" My plumage was bad because I had a wing/tail biting habit, but I did it out of boredom since no one but the staff played with me and I didn't have a lot of toys. (I quit that as soon as she got me) She finally asked to play with me one day and well you know the rest! I was too playful, quiet and friendly for her to resist!...Back then! lol (Now I'm territorial and noisy.) I came banded, they offered a 30 day trial, said that I was vet checked regularly and was hand fed and played with a lot until I was transplanted to that store....All the other birds in my clutch were also separated and disbersed to other local Petcos........I found one of my brother's on here! Caymus the Dusky is from my clutch. He is from Orlando, with the same hatch date and was sold at a Petco also! They told us that the guy who was raising the birds was amazing and played with them all the time. He was actually the one who taught me how to kiss! Cool huh?! So yeah, if you see or hear from Caymus, he's good people. Well, have a great day up in ME. It's the weekend so I'm sure mom's folks are up there right now too. Mom is oging out with some co-workers today for the awesome Sweet Tomatoes buffet and Pirate's Cove mini golf. Maybe I could be her parrot! Argh!

Come visit me, Michaelangelo & Icarus.

Whats up Maghee? Yeah, my owner's mom said that it has been raining non-stop in New England for days or weeks! They were complaining about it while she complained about the extreme heat wave.....I say "pick your poison"! lol Mom loves New England, but doesn't do well in cold temps. She says she thinks she's cold blooded. Sometimes the heat in the summer here is too hot so thats when she takes her vacations up north.
Mom picked my name because my old favorite pass- time was hanging upside down in my cage. She didn't want to call me "batty" or "vampire" so she figured since she was a fine and performing arts major in school, Michaelangleo who painted the dome ceiling of the Sistene Chapel haning from a suspended platform on his back would be the perfect person to name me after.
She liked how colorful some of the other conures were and pretty, but mom picked me because Duskies are said to be not as noisy as those (though I can still be loud) but just as fun and monkey- like. Another fairly quiet kind or (less loud) conure is the peach front. She hopes to either get one of those or a Hahn's Macaw in the future. Mom hasn't heard me talk but there have been others who said they had heard me talk. I whistle different things and I understand concepts like "come here", "down", "up", "want?" "no" and my trick commands of roll over, shake hands, front flip, turn around, kiss etc...... I understand them, but it doesn't always mean that I want to listen and do it! lol Sometimes she has to offer me a treat! Well, gotta fly, but chat with ya later! Stay dry and I'll try not to fry! Ha ha!

Come visit me, Michaelangelo & Icarus.

Hey dude! Welcome to the site! My name is Michaelangelo or Mikey for short. I live in FL with my human and a rd rumped parakeet "Icarus". My human is from MA, but apparently she goes up to ME usually once a year since she was a kid. Her parents have a weekend home up there. Maybe someday she'll take me with her on a visit so we can get out of this FL heat wave! Have a great day!

Come visit me, Michaelangelo & Icarus.
