Aurora has a sad story with a Happy ending. She came into our store over Two years ago when I first began working there. She came in with her sister compleatly under weight and quite obviously abused. They were missing Tail's, There wings had been butchered, it was just Heart Breaking. Auroras sister Jersy was very out going willing to let people pick her up and pet her we knew she would be able to find a Home quickly. Aurora was another story all togeather, she would not let you touch her or she would throw herself to the floor to try and get away in a total panic. She was Scared of her own Shadow and god forbid your pull anything out like a mist bottel to bath her. It Just Broke my heart, So I told our store owner that I wanted her and wanted to do whatever it took for me to make her happy again. So I figured well im here all the time I can work with her little bit by little bit every day I can gain her trust.
Yea Right.......
So one night after fighting her into her nite time cage in the back of our store I waited for her to settel in and eat and once calm I proceeded to have a 1 on 1 with her. I told her if she would be good and not Bite me and be scared of me She would be my Special Girl above all others and I would take her Home, Spoil her rotten and she could screem as loud as she wanted too.
As Crazy as it Sounds The next day when I came into work I had a New Bird. She must have sat that night and thought to herself,
"this Might be A sweet gig" and figured she could at least try it out. Well I am too this Day The only man she will let touch her. Shes not fond of Strangers but slowly comes around to everyone with time. She goes to The Store with me every day with her little brother gangi to play with all the other Parrots and is Formaly Known around Our Store as Queen Aurora.

Hi! My name is Aurora

I am an Umbrella Cockatoo from Columbia, SC.

She Goes By Aurora, I gave her that name because it stands for The Goddess Aurora. She stand's for The Goddess of the New Dawn and New Starts in life. Which is also why I choose to give Aurora her birthday on New Years Day. She also goes By The wife, But we also call her Ra-Ra, or re-re depeding on how loud she is being, Sweet Bird,Baby doll, and god only knows what else.
She is Loved Deeply

14 years old   F

Umbrella Cockatoo

Aurora is sorta picky she only will eat certain treats so I have her eating orgainc and very high grade Bird Food which she loves.
SHE LOVES Cashews, Go figure there my favorite too.

In My Face!!!!
She is a Velcro Bird!!!
This girl has to be on daddys shoulder,lap,He- ad, w/e as long as im holding her shes is the best bird in the world and Happy as she can be.

Aurora is very Scared of Men.
Since I got her as a 5/6 year old rescue she had some bad phobias about men and strangers. Which has taken alot of time and work, but to this day she is still very wary of Men.

My Daddy does everything it takes to Keep me a Happy loud Cockatoo, loves me for it, and would not change a thing in the world about me.

Aurora is not only Beautiful but a very smart Girl. She has proven me much dumber more then once. I Often have woken to her pushing the entire Grate out of the bottom of her Macaw cage around 5 in the morning. Along with the Lound "Bang" I get the joyful sounds of a Too that has some how learned to get a peice of wood and rattel it the legth of her cage, as if she were in prision. Until Daddy gets up, that is. What better way to start my day, with the warden..
