Percy was my first bird. Our friend got a parakeet and after being around him for a while, I wanted one too! I had looked at his parakeet book, observing the different color patterns and had decided that Percy's pattern and color was my favorite (i just LOVE grey, its a common theme in the birds i've picked out! his light grey stripes are just gorgeous)! When we went to the pet store, I saw him and I couldnt take my eyes off him! He was just gorgeous!.

Hi! My name is Sir Percival

I am a Budgerigar from palestine, TX.

Percy, Percy-bird, proud papa

8 years old   M

Budgerigar

Millet!

Right now I'm busy guarding my nest (3 babies!) and feeding my love, Maybelle. Other times I love to roam around the floor, and going into Pip's cage to eat her food and play with her toys!

Dont have any, Im just happy-go-lucky!

She gave me a home, as well as 3 female parakeets to choose from! i flirted with all of them, but ultimately i chose Maybelle, the new girl! (seen in the pic with me- she's the bright bluish one on the right!)

I'm just a nut! i flirt wilth alllll other birds, even an african grey! i'm the clown, very vocal with my jibberish!.

No bird is out of my league! I know I'm Beautiful!!.

  2nd clutch
maybelle and i had a 2nd clutch, but they all have new homes now. this clutch was identical to the first clutch. our owners are done with breeding- they are burnt out! and maybelle needs the rest as much as i do! the difference with this 2nd clutch is that all 5 hatched, but i guess because maybelle chose such a small space to nest in, the last 2 babies died..

  little Sophie
well the baby that had red eyes turned out not to be albino..the strange thing is: the eyes turned black after a couple weeks...i dont understand this..anyone have a clue?
she is actually light blue on her underside and has cinnamon stripes on her wings and head..
she is the BEST baby ever..so much personality and a people-bird!! she has been renamed "Sophie" since "Blanca" means white hehe..

Hello Sir Percival! How are the babies doing? I bet they look a LOT different than their pictures now. Have their feathers come in yet? I bet your caretakers are busy making preparations for their own baby!

Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at www.1luckybird.com

Come visit me, Tweety, Frosty and Ringo.

Congratulations on your ino baby! It probably is an albino, but it could be a lutino (yellow with red eyes and no markings) or a rarer fallow, in that case it will look a lot like Percival but with red eyes (fallow meaning pale or bleached). Inos aren't too terribly rare (because they breed true), but are very beautiful- especially albinos I think. Fallows are rarer, though. Whatever Blanca turns out to be, I'm sure you'll love it!

  exciting observation!
the youngest of my babies is an albino! Mommy noticed that its eyes are reddish/pink while the other two have black eyes. Names have been chosen for all 3 babies. The oldest will be Rebel, the middle Winnie, and the youngest Blanca. My owners LOVE having the babies around! it is so exciting for them!

  taming
A good way to tame the babies without handfeeding is to handle them a couple of times a day, starting just before their eyes open (around six days old). Make sure your hands are clean but not smelly (no perfum-y soap) and be very gentle with them- if you're nervous about picking them up you can scoop them up with a warm spoon. Just snuggle them and talk to them so they think it's natural to be held and snuggled by people. They won't be as tame as if they were handfed, generally, but they should be pretty tame and sometimes they can learn to talk right out of the nest!

Apperently if you go into a dark room and put the egg over the lense of a flashlight with your hand cupped around the egg (with the flashlight turned on), you should be able to tell if the egg is clear. I probably did it wrong, or maybe I checked at the wrong time... I say just leave the eggs until there's no way they're going to hatch (like a week after the last one hatches). Three babies!!!!!! Are you going to keep them all?

Yahoo!!!!!! Just wait until the third or fourth baby hatches- it's hard to believe that they all end up the same size in the end (roughly). How many eggs are there? Did you check to see if they were all fertile? I always checked, but I could never tell(!), so I just left any unhatched eggs in the nest for about a week. Are the other girls jelous? I bet the babies are going to be beautiful!

  Welcome to Bird Channel!
Hello Sir Percival! Our caregiver has a cat named Percy. She is also partial to grey and blue birds (and violet, of course, that's what Sky and I are!)- someday she would like to have a black 'keet, but they're awfully rare right now. Do the girls fight over you? You're very handsome! -Windy

Come visit me, Tedi, Sam, Sky *RIP* & Wind.
