 On June 26th, 2005, me and my cousin walked into the Augusta Petco. We were going to get a budgie for my cousin, who at the time was living with me. We went into the aviary and looked at the budgies. I thought that one of the green ones would be cool, but she said no, and that she wanted the little blue and white one that was falling asleep on his perch. She made a perfectly good choice!
Spirit was my cousin's pet until she moved out in 2007. She didn't want to bring him with her, so he fell into my hands. I'll admit, I didn't take good care of him at first. He had been somewhat hand trained, but I didn't handle him at all so he quickly lost trust with hands. In 2009, I realized that I need to take good care of this precious life, who was now mine. I found that Spirit is a bright, comical joy who I couldn't love more nor be more proud of!
After over a year of training, I have finally gotten him used to hands and he is no longer afraid of them! He even steps up on cue. We've gone a LONG way in Spirit's training! Thank you everyone on Birdchannel who has guided me along the way and given me advice whenever I have questions! You're the best! ♥

Hi! My name is Spirit Cloude, 2nd Base for the 'Keets
I am an American Parakeet from West Gardiner, ME.
 ORIGIN: Spirit started out as my cousin's bird. I wanted to name him Cloud, because of his markings. Obviously, I didn't get my way, (LOL), and he was named Spirit. (My cousin was weird like that. She was interested in spirits and ghosts, and magic and silly things.)
Five or six years later, after my cousin moved out of my house and Spirit became my responsibility, I realized that he didn't have a middle name (all of my pets have middle names!). After a bit of thought, I settled on "Cloude" ... the extra "E" on the end IS intentional and meant purely for flourish and to make my budgie's name different!
"Cloude" is pronounced the same way as the regular spelling, "Cloud".
NICKNAMES: Spirit Boy, Big Boy, Silly Boy, Spear Beer, Spirit Biderit, Spirit Biderit Mister Mimerit, Messy-Boy, Little-Boy, S.C. and SP

He has tried peas, green beans, bananas, millet spray, mandarin oranges, cucumbers, apples, strawberries, corn, carrots, french fries, bread, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and pasta. Through trial and error, I have found that his definite favorites are (in no specific order), corn, carrots, strawberries, millet spray and apples.

 He likes pretending to be a cockatoo (fluffs up the feathers on his head, pins his eyes and makes lots of noise!), his favorite music genre is Hip Hop, he tends to like Soulja Boy, he used to treat his mirror like his mate, he used to be obsessed with his linked-ring toy until I got him a new one! He's moody and stubborn. He's pretty picky when it comes to trying new food... He's a very crazy budgie!.

Hi Spirit Cloude
Don't you just love baseball season? Our weekend is a mixed bag; mom is doing tours today and tomorrow, but it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. Today the dogs go to the groomer, but when mom drops them off, I think she is planning on taking us all outside! YAY!! It's so pretty here, with all the flowers in bloom. The irises have started to blossom, too. Tonight, mom and her family are celebrating Mother's Day. They always wait to do that, so they aren't in crowded restaurants and being hustled to eat fast. Tomorrow, tours are in the afternoon, so again, we might get outside. I think that's all for this weekend. I hope you are having a fun weekend, and get a chance to enjoy some fantastic weather where you are, as well. DAY 17 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA'S LIFE part 9
After leaving Montreal to go home, I started researching on the Internet about lovebirds. When I was done, I decided to buy a lovebird. My dad told me I could buy one from kijiji. So the type of lovebird I chose was fischers lovebird. I looked all over kijiji but none of them lived closer to my area. So I decided to pick another type of lovebirds. The next one I chose was the peach-faced lovebird then I did research. I went one kijiji and found a bird breeder who was breeding lovebirds and budgies. She had 2 lovebirds that we're coupled, the green one was 5 months and the yellow one was 4 months. I somehow got dad to get me two birds instead of one. So we contacted the lady and went to her house. It was long trip to me to get to neapean. When we got there, the house had noisy chirping birds. The lady was handfeeding a lovebird! It was so cute and adorable. She showed me around then she showed me the two lovebirds. I brought the cage with me to the two birds inside. The lady asked "What are you going to name your new birds?" Since the green one was a boy and he reminded me of super Mario, I named him Luigi. The yellow one who was a girl, I named her Angel, because she was yellow with white flight and rump feathers so it reminded me of the sun. Dear Sugar Beak
I had so much fun today! I forgot to tell you why I couldn't go to the game on Thursday! Mom was bittin by a spider and was in a lot of pain! She got to the Dr. today cause the ankle and foot were swelling up!He gave her two antibiotics cause he says it looks infected! It's all read and swollen and hurts a lot! She killed the spiders and sprayed vinegar water all over our house! The house smells like an Italian salad!Hehee!!!
Do you think we could go to the KB Saturday night after the game and ride the water rides, and then sleep over in our footie jammies and watch movies? Then on Sunday we could go to the Episcopal church together!

Wow! What a game! I think the Macaws underestimated the Keets, cause they thought we would be scared of them! HAH!
I had so much fun, and I was thrilled when you hit that Home Run!Hehee!!!
However, all that did'nt compare to us going to the Pasta Palace for dinner and spending some quality time alone with you! All the other birds went to the TPB&G. That would be nice too, but I enjoyed our 'date' much more! I love you!

DAY 14 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 6
When I was around 4, my dad was able to install a long distance plan on our home phone. It made my parents and my grandma happy that they were able to communicate with their families in Lebanon. Most times my dad would talk to his sisters on the phone and then hands the phone to me to say hi to them. My aunts loved me very much and always want to treat me. Since dad was able to communicate with them by phone, he was able to get them to visit us in the summer. So his sisters and nieces came to Canada and me and my brother had to share a room and sleeping with our mattresses on the ground, that time we didn’t have real beds. My cousins would sleep in the other room. During the night, me and my brother would get up from our bed and go to our cousin’s room. My cousins were always sleeping and everytime we came in, the youngest out of the two sisters would start crying and my parents would come and put us back into our room. We got to go out to mooney’s bay with my cousins and aunts and we would go for a walk in the park. My oldest cousins usually liked to play with my brother and my other cousin who was almost my age would love playing with me. We took photos and had a great time. Later on, they had to go back to Lebanon which was sad for us because I was going to miss my cousins. It's amazing, I think, that we Keets are going to get to play baseball this year. For a minute there I was thinking there was going to be a season without us represented in the league, but at the last minute, Coach Muffin pulled a team together and here we are, ready to run with the big dogs. I mean, the big birds! I bet, just like in the past, we'll be this amazing team with the most incredible sense of team spirit and sportsmanship. I'm really proud to be playing alongside you, Spirit Cloude.

guarantee it will be the only time that happens! Usually our weather records tend to be for the wetest place in the US! Today it is back to what May usually looks like up here! We are back to flannel shirt weather!

Dear Honey Bun
I'm glad you're on the Kevlar Keets team! It will be quite a while before I will be strong enough to play sports. I lost a lot of weight, and mom started giving me honey water in a syringe. This, for some reason, gave me enough strength to eat, and washed out the broken eggs!(Mom's pretty smart that way!)
Anyway, I'm still very tired and weak, sometimes mom has to pick me up off the floor cause I can't quite make it to where I usually go. But, I am getting stronger! Mom said today that I have started putting back on a little wieght! I still sleep a lot though, and all my friends have been visiting and sittin with me!
I promise I'll come to the games and cheer you on!

Hello Spirit~
I hope your day is going great! I have to apologize for not getting around as much as I should. Things got a bit busy and unfortunately, my social time is suffering!
Who knew humans could have so much stuff that needs going thru!!!
Dad took over the storage room so now there is lots of stuff that needs to be put somewhere else or tossed. The whole process is taking much longer than we thought it would. I have suggested that we only keep my toys and anything we need to use for food and toss everything else! Nope! None of that stuff was in the storage room but I think it would be a good thing for all of us to downsize! Toys and food are the most important things so we definately need to keep that stuff! I suppose the dog, the cat and the turtles can stay too!
I'm enjoying my apple right now and enjoying the view from the window. Yes! I have sunshine! It is going to be lovely for the next few days. The way it works up here is that the weekdays are lovely and when the weekend gets here the rain will come back! It's sorta like mother nature likes to tease us!

Hello Spirit~
I do hope you are having a wonderful day! I'm doing just fine. Not much going on around here today. Dad has been cleaning out the storage room to make it into a workshop so mom and I have lots of stuff to find a place for. Mom says some of it can just be sent off to goodwill but it will be interesting to see where she is going to put the rest of it! Mom says that if we haven't used it for a while, it is really time to get rid of it. You can tell that mom doesn't like clutter!

Hello Spirit~
I hope your day is going great! It's pretty quiet around here. Mom and I are watching the last Harry Potter movie! It's very exciting but very sad too!
It's still cool and rainy here. It got warm for a few days and then went back to being cold again. That is why we had the avalanches up in the mountains. They do avalanche control all the time up there but they had no warning for these avalanches. At least it's closed down now so everyone will be safe.
Mom cleaned my cage out before I even got up this morning! I think that was pretty sneaky of her!! It does look very nice and I have a new toy so I guess it's time to mess it up again! You know we like our cages just so!!

I hope you are having a wonderful day. Kinda slow news day around here. Mom is doing laundry and I am eating apples! I don't mind it being quiet as long as I get to hang out with mom.
Mom got me a bunch of new books from the library so I have been enjoying them. Mom didn't find anything to read but she didn't have a lot of time to hang out there. She'd spend hours there if she could! It's always such a peaceful place.
Mom figured out how to capture pictures from video and other pages where you don't have the save option. She was able to save my avatar in my picture file! Now she is going nuts looking for videos. I'm sure most of the world already knows how to do this but it's a big thing for mom!

Hiya SC
Mom is backkkkkk! She came home yesterday from Jason's and was super exhausted!! Mom and Jason saw a few movies went out to eat and hung pictures in his apartment! He had 9 wood carvings that Grandpa made!! Mom hung them in the dining area and she and Jason went to TJMAXX and Mom bought him a nice big painting for over his couch! It's starting to look lived in now that Mom hung some stuff on the walls!! :)Remember I told you awhile ago that Mom purchased a blow-up mattress and had it shipped to Jason? Well Mom couldn't sleep on it cause it was not to comfy! Mom ended up sleeping on the couch recliner which wasn't to comfy either. Needless to say, she didn't get much sleep while she was there. Today Mom did a lot of cleaning in her room and the bathroom. We were happy just to have her back home with us!! Jason called today to tell mom he stopped at the humane society and he is thinking about volunteering there!! He has to apply on line and take a course that they will send him to. Mom sure is excited about this!!! I will let you know what happens!! :)
While Mom was away the Gym arrived that Mango won from the Bird Safe store contest!! I got to play on it before anyone else did because I am the only one that dad can handle with out getting a finger removed!! Heehehe... It was fun!!!
That's all for now!! I gotta get to bed soon!

I like the 3rd pic the best, is that his mommy? The new pic is another tuktuk, which the 5 travelers piled into when they finished shopping in Bangkok. They had all their packages, too, and giggled all the way back to the hotel. Mom is going to the spring flower show today at Phipps conservatory, so we might have pics to share soon. If there is nothing spectacular there, though, we won't. Mom will be taking pics with her new phone, so she may have to learn how to get them from the phone to the computer. Love the calf! How cute is that? First of all, wow, what a surprise! Thanks for helping make me BOTD today! I get to celebrate with my friend Chyna in the castle all day long, and of course, you're invited as well.
Second, mom finally uploaded some of the pics from Nghi's facebook so you could see part of the vacation. On my page are a Buddha carved into a mountain in Thailand, as well as 2 pics of the elephant show mom attended where the elephants were sensational. So happy to see you! Thank you for the compliment on my picture. Mom took it yesterday when we were outside on the backyard deck.
How was your Easter weekend? Did you have fun? I had a wonderful weekend! Friday & Saturday I helped mom plant flowers and played in the water hose....both days I also started off Saturday by surprising my with my own personal Easter egg. For real...no April Fool's joke. I enjoyed Easter and stayed out with mom and the family....watched Cade look for Easter eggs...had a good time!
Today is April Fool's Day, so be sure and watch yourself...you never know who's going to try and fool you ~ :-)
