I answered an ad online because she looked so sweet and sad - almost totally plucked. She had just been rescued and I knew that I could love that little face forever!.

Hi! My name is Parasol

I am an Umbrella Cockatoo from Cardington, OH.

Paris is her nickname

14 years old   F

Umbrella Cockatoo

Brazilian nuts and peanut butter

My shoulder, My shoulder, My shoulder!

Not being the center of attention and WATER

Her skritches and her kisses!

She spent many years alone in a garage without windows. I believe that she must have taken up time by eating very slowly and with a ritual behind every piece of food.
She also crosses one foot over the other and taps her fingers when bored!
.

Nekkid is beautiful!.

Ichi, Kiwi, and Mav's mom here!
Hello everybirdie! We have gone thru some big changes over here, hence our absence from this place for so long. We lost another flockmate, Tequila, leaving Maverick as the last of my keets. I have taken the profiles down of my babies that have crossed the rainbow bridge, to leave room for any new editions to my flock I may receive, which brings me to my latest news. As you may have heard on the news, Michigan's economy has become horrible, and alot of people are suffering, as well as the animals. Being a michigander myself, I have witnessed first hand the hard times we've fallen upon. My husband lost his job a few months ago, and both of us have been struggling looking for work. That, among other things, put a huge strain on our relationship, and alomst tore us completely apart. Thankfully, we were able to open our eyes and hearts, and work thru our problems and stay together. It was after going thru all of this, and seeing the growing number of homeless and abused pets, that I realized I must do something to help. My husband and I are opening our home to unwanted parrots. I have placed an ad on craigslist to help get the word out, and I'm spreading the word on here as well. Now being that we are hard pressed for cash, and don't have that much space, we are asking for any help and assistance people are willing to give. Donations, volunteers, advice, anything of that nature is welcome. Remember that I am not doing this for myself, this is for parrots. Tho it does give me great joy to care for every lil bundle of feathers that comes my way =]

  Hi!
Thanks for flying by and giving me a vote. Here's one for you. Love your motto. My dad is bald on top of his head (which is funny looking to me because the head is supposed to be feathered even when the rest is nekkid), and my mom says bald is beautiful. I don't know about him being so beautiful, but you sure are. Rescue animals are the best, because once we find that loving home we wish and pray for, we sure return the love, don't we?

Come visit me, Eli.

  Happy thanksgiving!
Here is a wonderful holliday recipe that I concocted today! Hope you and your flock enjoy!

Birdy Pumpkin Nut Puffs

Ingredients:
½ part flax seed
1 part oats (either rolled, whole or steel cut)
1 part shelled raw almonds (may toast if desired)
1 part shelled raw pecans (may toast if desired)
any other nut or grain you wish to add –perhaps cannabis seed or wheat berries
plain canned pumpkin
cinnaman and/or nutmeg and/or ground cloves (optional)

Equipment:
Mixing bowl
Spoon
Oven or microwave
Mini-muffin tin or paper plate
Oil for greasing tin

To make these I took the flax, oatmeal, almonds and pecans and processed them into a flour in my blender – then I took and added canned pumpkin until it was a paste. Then I dropped small dallops into my (greased!) muffin tin and cooked at (convection) 350’F for 7 minutes. Alternatively, you may add less pumpkin and roll into balls. Place the balls on a paper plate and microwave for about 2 minutes, or until they reach desired crunchiness.
For large birds you may opt to not initially grind up the ingredients, but just throw them all together, or only loosely chop them. I haven’t made it this way, as less is wasted by my birds if it is all together.

Optionally you may either add in or sprinkle on a small amount of cinnoman, nutmeg or ground cloves. I sprinkled those three alternately across my little “muffins”.

Serve to birdies slightly warm or cool as a “footheld” nutty holiday treat!

  Hello,
Parasol, I am very happy that you found a wonderful home! I find it so hard to believe that people can be so cruel to their birds, my bird is so spoiled I just can't imagine anyone keeping such a wonderful bird in a garage. My vote to you.

Come visit me, Pixie.

  Hello Parasol
Lucca the 'tiel here. Thank you for your comments! Its hard to think some one could put a beautiful bird like you in a garage without sunlight. I'm glad you have a new life with your current owners. You are quite gorgeous. One of my 'tiel friends Wyatt used to pluck her wing feathers but now they are almost totally fixed!
Heres a vote!!!

  Hi Parasol
I scream at sundown but Cracker screams when mommy is on the phone. I was also a rescue and I was abused. My former owner's husband chased me with a nail gun and they plucked all my feathers so they did not grow in right. I have been with my new family for almost 2 years now and I am very happy.

Hi, Winston here. Today is my big day: a trip to the avian vet. Of course, I don't like having my blood drawn, but if the results are good, I can get off my medication.
Maybe we can both work together to stop plucking our feathers. And I am happy that you too have found a good home.
Here's a vote for you. Hope you have a chance to visit the rest of our family.

I'm still nekkid too! It's not a bad thing. Mom says I have the face only a mother could love...Dad calls me a terradactyl...wait till I get some size on me...I'll show him the attitude of a terradactyl!!! You are beautiful too. Mom says eventually she will try dad again later (in a year or so!) and we may get a too brother or sister He wasn't to pleased about my arrival, but he'll grow to love me too, just like the rest of the flock. I know I am already growing on him...he wants to feed me and hold me at night!!!! Here's a vote for "nekkid is beautiful!"

Come visit me, Skittles, Miss "B", Sonny & Lincoln.
