I used to be in another home before my forever home. I was friendly & loved everyone. Then one day I was hanging around outside with my first mom & a cat attacked me. I had to go to the vet & I was very scared. I had to have lots of shots & I grew to hate hands & things that look like scissors & instruments. Then my first mom & dad were splitting up. A friend knew of a couple who already had a parrot & approached them about the possibility of giving me a home. They weren't looking for another bird, but something told them to come check me out. My mom & dad said neither one of them were going to be able to give me the attention I deserved. They were broken hearted but really wanted to do the best thing for me. The new couple came over to my house to meet me. I don't like strangers but I felt compelled to fly to the woman. I sat on her shoulder while the people visited. I thought this new woman was very calm & I decided to test her. I chomped down on her ear lobe as hard as I could. All the lady did was camly say "Layla NO biting." Well there was no drama or yelling or anything like that from her. I decided that this lady must be trustworthy & she wouldn't be the kind of person to hurt me so I fell in love with her. After another couple of visits, I came to live in my new home & I have learned that my new parronts are loving & trustworthy. I still did bite a lot at first, but my new parronts were patient with me & used Bach remedies in my bathie water to help me adjust & feel better. Now I have two grey-colored brother birds & I am the princess of the house..

Active within 2 Days Hi! My name is Layla I am a Green-Cheeked Conure from Ashland, OR. Girly-girl, green girl, green meanie, Mighty Bitey Bird, Mighty aphroBitey, Bitey beak bird, 14 years old F Green-Cheeked Conure Pomegranite, fruits of all types, veggies, safflower seeds, potato, squash. My most favorite thing is when I got outside with mommy into our private raspberry patch and I get to pick my own berries and eat all I want. I do end up with red juice all over my beak though. On my mommies shoulders, down her shirt, on top of her head, on top of my cage, on my very own, private playstand (that I refuse to share with anyone) on top of the shower curtain rod while anyone is showering. The grey boys. The CAG and Cockatiel are annoying because they get attention that I want. I also HATE scissors and I try to protect my family from them. If someone picks up scissors I will run down their arm and bite them until they let go of the evil things. People just don't understand how bad scissors are and I am here to protect them. I will find scissors where ever they are and I will pull and tug and push them until I can make them fall to the ground. I don't like anyone to touch my cage or playstand. Even if you are putting a treat in my cage, you better watch out. They let me have bathies in a special pan or little bathie tub. My mommy makes me lots of toys and she even learned how to sew me a snuggley sleeping tent. I love to snuggle in cloth my mommy raps me in. It is called the Birdito bird game. I get wrapped up like a burrito and then I make cooing noises and burrow my way out when I want to play some more. I love to dance. One of my favorite song is Buttercup. I will hop around, bob up and down and flatten the feathers on the top of my head. My mommy thinks this is very cute. I also will push and pull things until I can get them to drop off of my cage, playstand or table. I just don't like the cluttered look!. My cage is mine don't touch. My playstand is mine, do not touch it either. My beak is my border patrol enforcer..

I managed to get my beak stuck inside of a bell on one of my toys. Mom and Dad had to take to the vet and get it removed. He did a great job and didn't even charge us for it. What a great emergence vet we have. I now own Leah a favor because she hide Mom camera so she could not take one of those embarrasing picture she like to take of us birds. Update on dad is that he will be going from 3 lap, 3x/day around the parking lot to 4 lap 3x/day today (all most a 1/4 mile). He is off his pain meds. He went shopping with mom yesterday at Costco for his morning walk, boy was he tried went he got home. This morning he woke up in a different position than when he went to sleep last night and he left the bedroom door open so that the furballs could come and go as they pleased. Mom has a quite the shock look on her face when she walked in the door and saw me on Ruby cage. She was not to happy with me. She even put a lock on the door that I use to get out of. It is a sad day for my flockily today. Our Boxer, Guinan, left us for the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. Guinan would have been 11 years old, had she lived to her next birthday on July 4. We will all miss her terribly, but especially Mom and Dad. Guinan was Mom’s 40th birthday gift to Dad. ~~ About 6 weeks ago, Guinan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. And after giving medication a chance to work to allow her to be symptom free, it became obvious that she was losing ground. Today, Mom and Dad talked to Guinan’s Dr. Tom, and the three of them decided that the tumor was growing much too fast for them to be able to give her any more good quality time with us. So we said our goodbyes, and made sure that our Rosalie Hale Bopp would be at the gates to the Rainbow Bridge, just this side of heaven, to greet Guinan and introduce her to the flockily she will be spending time with until all of us are together again. ~~ Please join me, Mom, Dad, my fiblings, and our kitties in a prayer for Guinan’s safe jouney to The Bridge, and for peace and comfort for those of us who remain behind. May we give and rely on each other’s strength in our sorrow, You can see her picture at the bottom of the my page. Your Good Friend }·> TidBit

Happy Lord's Day, Cotton Ball here. I have good tidings of great joy!.. Yes, really, we are doing just great, even though, Mom was away Friday evening and Saturday to a Ladies Retreat.. She brought home another Society Finch. A "Linda" she hopes. Lonnie was way too excited. Ellie or Ellery which ever it is, is not impressed.. Today we got baby tiel number 3. Out of 5 eggs two were not fertile..Everybirdie else got millet and treats....It was just a big party. Here is a vote for you..Patrick has his LIMERICK OF THE DAY posted under his motto.
