 I met Zak several years ago, when his previous owner called to ask me whatever she could about parrots. She called me last month, asking me if I could take Zak, she was no longer able to keep him. He is still in quarentine, and will be until we get the rest of his test results back. I refer to Zak as *he* but he could turn out to be a *she*. UPDATE; The vet just called - I am definitely a MALE! *LATEST UPDATE* Aug 19, 2009 - I took Zak to the vet this morning, to redo the tests for the fungal infection and one blood test. I came home, only to have the phone ring 15 minutes later - everything is clean - Zak can meet the others! I dragged the cage into the bird room and Zak looked around, called out Hello Zak, in otherwords, telling everybirdy to say hello to him, and then he went off on a rampage, telling his life story. I am serious - he did not stop speaking Zon for a good 15 minutes. I was laughing so hard the tears were rolling down my cheeks. Shy - not Zak. I think he is thrilled to have others around. I was going to move his cage to a quieter place overnight, but decide not to, not after the way he went on. He is one happy bird!
NOV 3rd - What a way to start off Zak's reign as BOTM. I called the vet yesterday, having noticed his toe looked bad, and got an appointment with our favorite vet yesterday. The bad news was his toe has to be amputated. Surgery date was scheduled for today, the 4th. I took Zak back to the vet's instead of leaving him overnight, and prepped him with his painkiller and antibiotics. Okay, so this also saved me the overnight charges and the vet clinic even charges when they administer meds. I went into stress mode as the scheduled time of his surgery got closer, to the point of bringing on a migraine. The vet called me after Zak woke up, saying he was a real trooper and is recovering as he should be, and so far is not pulling at the bandage (so far, being the operative words). I will be calling back before they close, for another update. Since they are closed on Sundays, Zak will be coming home tomorrow towards the end of the day. i have no special plans for the weekend, except caring for him and the others in the flock.
THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN SO KIND AND SENT SOMETHING TO HELP WITH ZAK’S VET BILL! I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW BIG YOUR HEARTS ARE, BUT YOU ARE BIRD PEOPLE, LIKE ME. WE ARE HEADING TO THE VETS AGAIN TOMORROW, TO CHANGE HIS BANDAGE.. |

So, here’s what we got. Last year’s Officiatin’ Staff o’ The Birdie BazeBol League’ve been mullin’ it over an’ they’ve come up with a Jim Dandy idea to help stave off the cravin’s that some o’ you Birdie BazeBol Players an’ Fans’ve been sufferin’ from, ‘cause o’ the lack o’ playin’ this Season.
They’ve all put their heads t’gether to give us a one-time opportunity t’ play ourselves a little BazeBol THIS summer! YuP! YaHooooo!! We’re goin’ back t’ Th’ Stadium!!! The 2012 All*Star Birdie BazeBol game’ll be played at KEVLAR Memorial Stadium th’ afternoon o’ Saturday, August 18th. Th’ plan is t’ play BazeBol startin’ at 3:00 pm CENTRAL TIME, an’ then party that night at the same time we always party for Th’ Milonga! (Translation for th’ Time Zone Challenged: 4:00 pm Eastern, 2:00 pm Mountain, 1:00 pm Pacific.That’s for the BazeBol Game now!)
So, I’m here right now t’ fill y’uns in on all th’ What-Not’s an’ Why-For’s of how this thing is gonna work. So tuck yer feathers b’hind yer ear holes and listen up ….
Th’ first thing that has t’ happen is CHOOSIN’ TEAMS.
Here’s how that’s gonna work. See this here hat I got in my wing? Well, right over there on that table is a bunch o’ scraps o’ paper for y’all t’ write your names on an put in th’ hat.
BUT THERE’s A CATCH!
There’s only ONE birdie PER FLOCK allowed to put their name in th’ hat ! ! ! I know. I KNOW! But there’s only 12 positions available on two teams so we gotta make it so’s as many flocks get a chance t’ play as possible, an’ this was the fairest way the Umps could think of.
So … Two teams; twelve players each (10 reg’lar positions an’ 2 reserves). One team’s gonna be ALL GIRL~BIRDS and one team’s gonna be ALL BOY~BIRDS!
We’re gonna keep the “HAT” out ‘til July 15. Then those Umps’ll pick the players for each team out o’ the hat … lottery style. An’ th’ positions’ll be assigned th’ same way too … lottery style.
You can bring all your little pieces o’ paper with your names writ on ‘em t’ my page so’s Th’ Kommish don’t miss any of ‘em. Bring ‘em t’ MY PAGE (#66865). DON’T leave your name on Th’ Milonga Page ‘r Th’ Kidder’s page ‘r RanePlayer’s page, an’ NOT on Th’ BazeBol Page ‘cause it might get missed! An’ the same deal goes as for th’ Players: Names in th’ hat; two squads; maximost number o’ birdies on each squad – 6; one squad ALL GIRL~BIRDS (who’ll be cheerin’ for th’ BOY~BIRDS’ team, by th’ way) an’ one squad ALL BOY~BIRDS (cheerin’ for th’ GIRL~BIRDS’ team o’ course!); chosen lottery style. An’ the same rule applies ‘bout only ONE birdie PER FLOCK bein’ a CheerLeader. H-O-W-E-V-E-R, there can be one birdie’s name in the hat for PLAYIN’ and one birdie’s name in th’ hat for CHEERIN’ from th’ same flock. (An’ I don’t wanna be in ANY birdies flock meetin’s when they’re decidin’ which birdies from the flockily get t’ put their names in th’ hat an’ which ones don’t! NosirreeBob!!!)
Now, in case you’re one o’ th’ birdies who weren’t at th’ Milona last Saturday night, you missed what th’ names o ‘ th’ teams’r gonna be. Them ol’ soft hearted Umps decided it would be nice t’ honor th’ most recent Rainbow Bridge Departees in namin’ the teams for this here All*Star Game, just like they honored ‘em at th’ Milonga that night. SO … The GIRL~BIRDS’ team is gonna be called “Th’ Angel Wings” an’ th’ BOY~BIRDS team is gonna be known as “Berts at Bat”. Got a nice ring to it, don’t it?
Th’ Team Line-Ups’ll be announced at th’ next Milonga, July 21st.
So get yer names in the HAT an’ then get out there an’ start warmin’ up them Wings an’ Bats an’ doin’ cart wheels an’ stuff!!!

Hi Zak and flock and mom Paula
Sweetheart's mom Theresa here to thank you so much for your condolences for our beautiful Sweetheart who has flown over the rainbow bridge. I miss her so much as do the rest of the flock and she will always hold a special place in our hearts here. Mom posted a short video of her on BC today in rememberance of her. All the birds here on BC have been wonderful to the flock and I at this very hard time for us and we are so grateful to each and every one of them.

Lots of damage all around us but it skipped our house, so we were fortunate. Now I'm hearing about the F4 in Indiana, it looks like it's going to be a tough spring here. So, where are you moving to? Yea, as I walk in the valley of the EVIL BC, I shall fear no evil, Cause I am the baddest little bird in town. ha ha
Anywho, what I heard was that all the letters they get from people that complain, are placed in an area to be taken care of by the office birds. I believe it said, they use them to line the cages. SO, see they are being used for a good purpose. And as far as them saying that nobody is complaining, thats a bunch of dropping. `Ü´ Greetings and Happy New Year!
My Dear Mr Zak,
I am here to share with you a gift that would have been appropriate at Christmas. But I did not wish to interrupt flockily Holiday Celebrations with a 10,000th Vote Celebration and I have waited until the start of the New Year for that reason. It is, indeed a gift that was hard to come by and, to be sure, it is actually from Momma and me.
Momma and I know and appreciate that you all are dear and understanding featheriends to have been so supportive of my wish to achieve 10,000 votes when I began making it known a few months ago; and to have been so patient with my start again~stop again effort to achieve that goal. We also know that because of your love and featheriendship that no eggsplanations are necessary or eggspected. But that eggsplanation is critical to the story of how this gift came to be. So, with your indulgence, I shall share it with you now.
Over the past year to 14 months, Momma and we at The K Kritter Korral have eggsperienced a great deal of loss. We have bid three of our furry four-legged members Good-Bye and sent them to wait at the Rainbow Bridge with fister Rosalie. Each of them had been a part of the Korral for15 and 16 years, respectively. Then of course in April all of BirdChanneldom lost our First BazeBol Commissioner, Mr Tim, who was one of Momma’s best friends on the Planet. In June, Momma sent her only brother, and the last member of her core family, to be with Jesus.
Momma did her very best to keep BazeBol alive and well on the BirdChannel as a legacy to Mr Tim. She did all she could to be strong for Uncle Bill’s four children. But she didn’t take the time to say her own goodbyes properly and therein lay the rub for The Fids of The K Kritter Korral and our active participation on the BirdChannel. When the BazeBol Season reached its conclusion, and she would naturally have had time to contemplate the state of her heart, she endeavored to avoid or postpone that task by diving into something that I wanted very badly. The result … I disappointed many of my featheriends.
But I am not here to apologize. I come bearing a gift, as I mentioned earlier.Come visit me, `Ü´ Ruby Francesca ~ 7 is My Lucky Number Today!.

Momma finally decided to take Heavenly Father’s advice and take 30 days, as they did in the very old days in the Bible, to fully grieve her losses, before trying to move on. And one night, during her bedtime conversation with God, he spoke to her.
Momma says she knows it is God talking to her when there is a *PoP* or a *CLunK* or a *FLaSH* and a thought comes into her head that is crystal clear, and full of wisdom, that answers her question or solves her problem; and then she right away feels a sense of peace and calm wash over her like a warm summer rain. This is what God told Momma about every one she had said goodbye to this year …
YOU ARE A FAR BETTER PERSON FOR HAVING HAD THEM IN YOUR LIFE. And YOU ARE NO LESS NOW THAT THEY ARE GONE.
Momma also heard of a Pastor that told someone who was grieving the loss of her momma, “She’s not only in your past. She’s in your future too.”
My Dear BirdChannel Flockily and Featheriends, THIS is the gift I give to you in appreciation for all your love and support.
Now, shall we get that total up to 10,000 so we can have the first, biggest party of 2012, and Celebrate our Featheriendships?! I would like that very much!

Hi Zak
We had my hatchday party at lunch time. I got to run around on the kitchen table, cause mom put all kinds of cools treats there for all of us. We had what she called birdie cake, and it was pretty good. So now I'm TWO, and I don't notice any difference. Tweet.Come visit me, Tweet & Squak.

Hi Zack,
Boy was it loud last night! :( It was sooo loud, those firecrackers and those bombs, it sounded like Sadam Hussin was bombing our island! It was sooo loud it shook the house :(
Mom put Pookie and the back room and covered him so he wouldn’t freak out on those bomb noises. I was resting on mom cause this was my first New Years and she was afraid I woudn’t do very good by myself. She was right, I slept on her chest as those bombs went off. I felt safe on her, thank God.
Hope your New Year’s was a little more quiet than ours.
