After having Ringo & Mr. Peabody, our family wasn't quite complete. Therefore, enter Maxine! Our bird family is now perfect. What fun! Each bird has a distinct personality and traits. For the largest bird in our family, Maxine is very gentle and loves to be cuddled.. Awards

Hi! My name is Maxine

I am a Blue-and-Gold Macaw from Saginaw, MN.

Max, Maxie

10 years old   F

Blue-and-Gold Macaw

Nuts!! Any and all kinds! She has also been very interested in different fruits. She's only been home with us for a few weeks, so we're still discovering things.

Maxine loves her T-perch, right next to me. She can sit on that perch for hours, playing with the toys suspended from the perch.

Max is pretty new to us, but so far, I'd have to say that she gets upset only when our Sun Conure and African Grey are allowed out of their cages and she's not. It's too soon to let them all play together!

Everything! She has an incomparable voice, gorgeous colors, and very expressive eyes. The future looks very exciting, as we get to know each other more and more!

When Max wants out, she sits quietly and mutters upupupupup over and over. Up, up, up... She also loves to charge our dog, from inside the safety of her cage. The dog, a Westie, beats a hasty retreat (he hasn't figured out yet that the cage will stop our Maxie!)..

Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at

Come visit me, Tweety, Frosty and Ringo.

Here’s a vote for you and a birdie poem:

I love birds, I love them so,
Life without them I’ll never know.
Each day starts with a meeting,
Chirps and whistles it’s their own special greeting.
Fresh fruits and veggies to wash and chop,
Served with warm birdie bread to fill each crop.
Toys of wood, leather and bells,
Makes for fun with loud squawking yells.
Feathers and pellets all over my floor,
Does not deter me from loving them more.
As the sun fades we share kisses and scritches,
Then it’s off to each cage with sweet dream wishes.

If you enjoyed that, please stop by the Bird Contest section on this website and give us your vote in the poetry contest – we are on page 4! Mom would like to add another member to our flock and by winning a new cage, this would encourage Daddy to let her do so!

Come visit me, Riley, Tinkerbell, Tiki & Sayde Rose.

  Welcome, Maxine!
Rainbow here, fellow Macaw (I'm a Harlequin!), welcoming you to the Bird Channel pages. You sound like a lovely gal, all sweet and cuddly! I'd love to hear you muttering 'up-up-up' when you'd like out of your cage! My mom noted that you live with an African Grey and a Sun Conure...and that she could happily be transplanted to your house and have all the birds she wants also! (Actually she has two AG but no SConure.) It sounds like you're in a wonderful place with a lifetime of love and adoration ahead of you. Enjoy! Here's a vote for you, my fellow Macaw.

Come visit me, RaneBeau ('>.
