 Winston is a rescue. He had not been sold and was in terrible condition. We knew if we did not buy him, he would have died. The avian vet diagnosed liver disease and avian gastric yeast. Now, after two months of treatments, he is doing just fine and the next step is to try and see if we can keep him from plucking his feathers.. |

Hi Winston and flockily
BRRRRRRRR! Sounds too cold to me. It has been cold here to but has warmed up again quickly. I had the same problem a few years back when our furnace broke--boiler and they had to build a rad for it--almost a month in November but it stayed warm until the day they fixed it then the temps dropped to minus numbers.
We don't appreciate the heat until it's gone. SO? How did the doggies do at their last trial weekend? Today my fister Zeena has a ball game at Kevlar stadium. It's our first season playing.
Better get flying. Have a greyt weekend.

Hello Winston and flock !
Has our weather been glorious or what ? I bet dad is really enjoying getting back outside and working ! We're hoping to get flowers into our planters out on the back deck this weekend -
Cookie, too, loves to chat with the outdoor birds. As soon as the weather changed, his cage was moved near the windows - we have 3 pair of cardinals who will actually come up to the sliding glass door and peek in at him . . .
In a few more weeks we'll be able to travel to our summer cottage - the back porch is screened in and Cookie loves to sit out there squawking at the ducks. We also get lots of hummingbirds there . . .

I'm so happy Winston is doing well
and enjoying sharing his space :) Everything here is pretty much the same, although Cookie is looking forward to moving to his spring/summer/fall spot near the window ! One day we will replace the old drafty windows so he can be there all the time !
We think of dad at this time of year especially - he must be getting very busy now that spring is arriving ! Have the English budgies figured out the nest box yet ?Come visit me, Cookie ready for bazbol !, BC Library Now Open & Fly with the angels my Sally.

So Winston is sharing a cage these days ?
With whom ? I'm sure he enjoys having a cage mate (or 2) to chatter with. There is nothing like the chatter of budgies to fill a house with happiness :) In fact Winston looks very happy in the pictures and it sure does look like his feathers are growing nicely . . .

SKY; In light on the growing numbers of bird friends flying to the Rainbow Bridge due to health problems related to obesity, I understand you, Spot and Momma Rea decided to open the gym. Is this correct?
Ms Chirps; Absolutely. It is alarming the number of BC birds that are over weight and out of shape. We decided to open the gym to help teach birdies to exercise and to have seminars of food and health issues.
SKY; That is a wonderful idea. I know that too many of us eat to well, exercise to little.
Ms Chirps: Yes, it's very true. We hope to help stimulate owner/bird exercises to increase our life spans and avoid health problems.
SKY: To help promote this endeavor YOU will be hosting the first ever Rainbow Gym indoor birdie GAMES next week?
Ms Chirps: YES. On Saturday MARCH 9th and SUNDAY MARCH 10th we will be having a full range of events. Boys versus girls. There will be something for every bird to take part in. The complete list is posted on ANGEL BERTIE'S RAINBOW GYM page.

Winston is looking good
Winston has been very good for the Winter in not plucking. I think the increased humidity with all the plants in the room has helped.
