Katie, Queen of the Crowd! How it's going? Here, it's all fine and dandy; spending some quality time on my new boing in my new room. Yup, finally got that room that the teenage guy was just wasting. I mean, all those windows, all that sunlight, the view of the front yard and the action out on the street... he never saw 'em 'cause he never opened the blinds or the curtains. Like I said, what a waste. He's moving his stuff to a smaller back bedroom that's in the process of being built just for him, primarily so I could have my own room. Ok, a room I share with the other feathered flockmates in the group. Thinkin' of you while I swing here on my rope perch.... K *v*

I Knew It!
I just knew nothing had changed when it came to who was running the show at your place. Trust it to be a Grey with the say! A couple of days ago I through out a new one; when Rainbow does one of his ear-splitting squawks (notably when I'M getting attention he thinks he deserves) Dad often responds with a sarcastic, "Thanks, Rainbow" You guessed it, now when I hear that annoying noise I say the same thing with the same irritated tone. The most rewarding aspect is that I hear mom chuckling under her breath every time I say it. Score one for Kelly. Well, Your Majesty, I do hope your Freedom Celebration Weekend is a Firecracker of a Holiday. K *v*

I've just heard the best news imagineable; you're BACK!! Katie, Katie, Katie! I've missed you. Worried about you too. Definitely darn happy to hear that you and your flock and family are just fine after all those scary fires. My boyfriend, yea, I've got me a BC Boyfriend, he's presently dealing with smoke in the air and limited time outdoors because of it... he's somewhere in the northern portion of your state. Poor CA... always under fire. So, Chic, tell me, how's the roost that you're rulin'? I know you're the one still in charge... you're the Grey... we're always the ones runnin' the show! I assure you, I hold that title here, even if I am the smallest parrot. (We're of course not counting the cockatiels and the parakeets. Frivolous flock members! although they do have some interesting toys...) Imagine in the time we've been out of communication you've added a ton of great new lines and words to your vocab. I've taken up repeated my dad's phone conversations pretty much in their entirety. My oldest featherless brother joined the Marines back in Oct so there are lots of calls between him and my dad... which I eavesdrop on quite frequently. I've had more fun sounding off the ringtone that signals a call from Michael and watching dad answer his phone for nothing! Oh, the simple joys in life! Well, before I bowl you over with rampant conversation I'll let you go. I just had to come and say Hi, so glad you're happy and heathy and home safe. Can't wait to hear some details about life in Running Springs where your royal Greyness Rules!! Until then... K °v°

Kelly here...I hear a mini-vacation's in the making and after that you might be able to catch up on what's new in the neighborhood. So looking forward to chatterin' with you. I've missed you something fierce!! Hope your weekend was action-packed. The other Grey at my house had her bit of excitement for the week; she shocked Mom by flying off across the neighborhood! Her wings were so severely trimmed by an inexperienced vet that she hasn't been able to fly for nearly three years. Today she proved that she's healed!! Mom got her sprinting excercise in for the day and Shebah got her heartattack taken care of!! (She's fine, really...) Can't wait to yammer away with ya when you have the time. You're the reason I got this webpage in the first place!! Until we chat again...K

Wow...you sound like me. I don't get along with my daddy very well either. My mom is my favorite but I have been getting better with my human sister. I let her put her hand on my play area but I watch her the entire time. I don't want her touching my toys. Mom says I have to be nice to everyone but I don't want to. I just have to be nice to mom since she takes care of me the best. I haven't said much. I love to garble, whistle and make noises. Mom says I am too young and I will probably talk when I get older. She loves to hear me talk no matter if it is just sounds, whistling or garble but I know she is anxiously awaiting for those garbles to change to words. I have been practicing. You sure are a beautiful grey and I love your motto. Keep everyone in line and keep ruling that roost...someone has to be in charge and you sound best qualified. Birdie beak kisses for you.

Question...
What's your honest opinion of Amazons? They cool? How do you and Stanley get along? I know, as long as he moves out of the way when you come to inspect his territory he's easy to get along with... But that aside, I thought I should ask for your thoughts on Amazons, particularly DHY ones. I get the feeling I'm about to meet one...thought you could prepare me! You know, I always get 'goose bumps' (or should a bird say 'uncle bumps' or 'human bumps' since we're birds...) whenever I re-read your profile. Why? Because you nail being a Grey on the head with your writing skills! You do us CAGs proud! Later...

Kelly here. I'd've been here hours ago but, geez, couldn't get Rainbow off the keyboard. Him & Stella & Stanley, they've got all kinds of stuff to yammer about, don't they! You know, an odd thing's been happenin' here the last few days...I've been asked NOT to talk!... about a particular dog, that is. Normally, whenever I'm talking people seem impressed. But today, whenever I called Kayla, the rat terrier, I got the oddest response. As a hospice bird I know you'll understand completely...a favored dog is no longer at my house due to illness...and my calling her all day isn't helping mend broken hearts. Mom assured me that someday it will be back to sounding special, hearing me whistle for that dog, but today she was wishing I'd talk about some other critter. Guess I'll have to start calling out, "Rainbow, hush it!" Get him involved! If these people here are this sad when I depart this planet I'll be touched. Problem is, I think I'm slated to outlive most of THEM! Poor fellers! Hey, congrats on the new outdoor play area. It must be somethin' for you to be playing nice with everyone so you don't have to have a timeout and miss out on the fun! Wise choice, Katie! What do ya think of Stella's new palace? Isn't the Queen Katie supposed to be in the palace? Oh, I know, you have plans! You be good! (Can't believe I don't know how to say those words...I hear them all the time...you be good...)

No Wonder!
I knew it all along. I tried to tell Rainbow to quit worrying, that you were all just busy with really important stuff, but NOOO, he had to be all concerned and sad and stuff. Brother. Got those alphabet blocks chewed to smithereens yet? I annihilated a wooden chew toy the other day...that was in somebody else's open cage. Fun. Of course I promptly got ushered back to my condo but I saw a smirk at the corner of mom's mouth...she honestly thought it was funny that I wedged myself into a smaller cage and had myself a grand time. I heard her tell the poor 'tiels that she'd put together another one for them and also one for me since I apparently liked it!! Glad to know all is well with you and your kingdom. And ok, I admit it, I was worried too but that's between you and me only! Pals...Kelly.

Thanks for the swoop-thru note! It was great to hear from you. I spent a wee portion of my morning in a practice session on the learning perch. Mom is aiming to educate me on a few manners like waving and saying 'thank you'. We'll see how that goes. 'Course she's holdin' all my favorite treats so I may hafta cave on this one and follow through with the requests so I can get me some of them almonds and sunflower seeds. Blast. Then again, knowing a few tricks can make you the center of attention when other folks stop in. The other CAG here, I would've put a pile of almonds on her never learning, much less 'performing' a learned trick...stuff like that is just 'below' her. But today I watched in amazement as she did 'turn-around' after 'turn-around' for the family and gorged herself silly on walnuts, pecans, and MY almonds. Well if that's what jumpin' through hoops'll get cha, bring it on!! I'll learn to ride a motorcycle if it gets me the spotlight! Enough chatterin' from me. Hope your week's off to a great start. Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at www.1luckybird.com

Yup, here I am, on the web! Cool, ain't it. It is indeed fun to rule the roost; and you said it right, the 'big guys' are so easily buffaloed. Sadly, one of those big guys is another CAG at my house. I don't know if I'm ashamed or proud of the fact I can run Shebah, Queen of Eygpt, off her home faster than the Nile flows. She's gettin' better though; recently she's just been moving over and letting me take her favorite spot on top of the arch. Yes, that was a picture of my mom and us two Greys...I'm the smaller one near her shoulder. ( Shebah's a little on the chunky side. She should get out and roust others off their houses more often. It's good execise!!) She appreciates your compliment. (Actually, that picture's no longer there...I got a new photo gallery pic so the original was moved down. I was such a baby there. I wanted one that shows the more current me.) I really like your full name; Katie the Wonder CAG. I'm going to have to work on something impressive of my own. We CAGs need to maintain our supremacy! LOL! You're a funny girl! "I was here first." You've got 'em there. I believe that explains Shebah's thinking. (She's the one that put in a good word for me and got me adopted into the family...) She's honestly not all that thrilled that I'm here...she'd prefer to be the only bird in the house. She might even be happier if her and mom were the only living things in the house. She acts like an old lady most of the time; all grumpy and haughty and what not. Toys are even below her standards although I saw her shake a bell the other day. She's the kind that wouldn't want a webpage 'cause she wouldn't want humans looking at her picture! But you know, she's quite a talker...when only mom's around...they're pretty close. But Kelly now...the more attention the better! I heard mom & Kelly talking at the computer yesterday; mom was showing your pictures to Kelly (whose eyes pinned in interest!) and said something about getting a page created for her. Then they proceeded to have a photo shot...so I think you might get to meet the little character soon! You mentioned maybe working on your tude. Well, I don't think you need to make any changes. Rainbow here, inspired to come and meet you, having seen your name as one of Stella's housemates. From your profile, though, I get the feeling, that, well, other birds are an interference!! That's ok, I understand. I happen to really like that Stella, and Stanley and Shelby too! There's an CAG at my house that really should get in touch with you. Her name's Kelly and she shares a lot of your beliefs; all cages should be CAG property, toys included. She hates pellets and is a follower of the Grey's Rule theory. But she doesn't have her own webpage...she keeps mom too busy to have the time to make her one. Her lose! Even though I'm not a Grey, (I'm a Harlequin, just as your mom suspected), I'm impressed with your bravado. You greys keep things extra exciting!! A V2U!

not a bird room
It is a screened in patio. And the whole flock loves it. We get to stay out there on the weekends, soon it will stay light longer and we will be able to go out during the week too. I would love to sleep with my mom too, any hints on how to make this happen ? Did you visit the whole flock? It takes some time but stop by and say hi...have a "you are special vote"...
