Active within 1 Day Hi! My name is Dorian Grey - Hi Everybirdy!!! I am a Congo African Grey from Buffalo Grove, IL. Boo Boo, D, D-Man, Cool Yo D 4 years old M Congo African Grey GRAPES, Peanuts, Nutri-Berries, and especially AVI-CAKES!!! On his cage play top, at the very top of his toy hooks Baths, a certain pesky Sun Conure that lives on the other side of the family room, and people who don't appreciate "us Parrots". He always makes time to talk to me and give me a good head scritch. Best of all is we know how much he loves his birds! Oh Yeah...He's talking much better now that I've trained him!! Sticking his head in his food bowls and talking, so that his voice echos, screaming at his toys when he's swinging from them, and talking in a really loud voice if we don't answer his call-outs quickly enough!. Every day is a happy day if your family includes a companion Parrot to love.

Well, bazebol is finally here and we have our first game on Friday against the big birds...the Major League Beaks.

We need to just relax and have some fun playing some bazebol, we have done the work so now it is time to let our muscles do the remembering...

Bazebol is supposed to be a fun game so lets have some fun on Friday...If we win that will be awesome but if we don't it is not the end of the world. The most important thing is to have fun and do your very best, that is all that I ask of you...

Hello Dorian!
How's things with my Greyt friend? Looking forward to the weekend I'm sure. I love Saturdays because they're a rather laid back day, at least in the morning while the rest of the family sleeps in but mom is up with us birds and we're all just hanging out together. Saturdays are good days!

Hello Greyt Grey Wing!
As the assistant coach for the GGWs, I've been asked by our darling Coach Chloe to come around and announce that tomorrow is the beginning of SPRING TRAINING for our team. That's right, it's time to get ready to play ball! On Monday (4.15) and/or Tuesday (4.16) let's begin with TWO LAPS around the perimeter of the baseball field. Don't push yourself if you've not been all that active this past winter, but if you feel you're in fairly good shape or really want to impress your teammates (and yourself) go for three laps at an impressive pace. Follow up with stretches for those warmed-up muscles and some squats on the edge of a step to power up the legs. There'll be water and energy snacks available.

See you at KEVLAR STADIUM (239836) sometime between Monday morning and Tuesday evening.

P.S. I bet you've been wound up and active all winter long. Right? You have been, haven't you. I've had the best time this winter being fully flighted. It's a miracle, let me tell you.

Hello Fellow GREYT GREY WING!!
How are things with you handsome neighbor guy? Keeping that greyt mind of yours entertained? I've had a lovely winter of flying here, there and everywhere, something that makes life quite interesting, especially when you get to 'there' but mom doesn't know where 'there' is! I can't remember how many times in the last few months I've won at the game of Hide and Seek, and by win I mean have mom looking and searching high and low then calling in family members to help with the hunt because I can't be found. The best game was when I was found hanging on the back of my bird room door, something that wasn't obvious when the door was opened and up again the wall. It was only after the door had slowly shut during mom's frantic search for me that I was discovered. I'm very good at being quiet when the game is on! What I love are all the hugs and kisses of relief when I'm found. Something tells me though that my ploy to get those kisses is going to grow old and mom's just going to crown me for giving her heart an attack while I'm missing. Hey, one must do what's necessary to make life interesting, right?

Baseball Days are soon to start! Can't wait.

Are you getting excited about playing some baseball? I do need a few things from you as soon as you can get them to me…

1st: I need 15 numbers using the digits 1-12 (numbers can be used more than once)
2nd: I need some full sized pictures to use for your baseball photo. One or two with you facing the camera and a couple of side shots would be great if you can’t find both then just send what you can

Well Hello Dorian!
Welcome to the frigid world. I'm thinking I picked a perfectly dreadful time to lure you out of hibernation. It's 0 out right now. That's a temp that calls for the deepest of hibernation status! Or a very large heated perch that's set on HIGH. The other evening I was out in the family room where the fireplace had a roaring blazer going. I found that one side of me would get quite toasty but the other side felt almost chilled so I kept turning in circles. I guess I looked rather like a rotisserie chicken. Eventually I ended up on the couch, tucked under mom's chin for a good and proper scritch session. How I love those things. I even like having the fleecy throw pulled up over my back. Maybe winter's not so bad after all.

About that being called 'dead meat'... uh, that's not generally a good thing, Dorian. I've heard it before but it came from the beak of a Jenday. I heard it plain and clear, right before it pounced me. Just the other day, out of the blue this yellow and green blur streaked across the room and hit the hanging perch I was lounging on. I was nearly toppled from my roost thanks to the violent swinging that commenced. The little character didn't stay long. He flew right back to his room, a joyous expression on his beak over having scared the beejeebees out of me. I swear I heard him mutter "be afraid, be very afraid". Oh, believe me, I am. Thank goodness there's usually a sheer curtain that hangs in the doorway between my room and the conure quarters. It keeps Mr. Jensen where he's supposed to be, but the little twerp has a habit of hanging on that sheer as if he's just waiting for the door to open and give him the opportunity to make eye contact with me, the one that says "dead meat"... It's not a good thing.

You, you have yourself a greyt day, fellow teamie. And may you soon find your feet standing on a warm perch. Telling dad he had a brilliant idea there may well convince him he's indeed of superior intelligence.

Hello! Hello! Hello! How's the new year going so far? I so wish I'd been here to wish you both a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year but alas, my BC privileges have been far and few between since about the first of December. Today's been a good day with a chance to chat with a few friends here and there. I've been flying around to the members of our 2013 baseball team and letting them know I'm really looking forward to spring training and taking the field with them, yourself included. While it's sort of hard to imagine spending any time outdoors right now, those warm breezes will be blowing through SOME DAY. We just have to hold out with faith and trust... and be ready to swing that bat!

What's been keeping you entertained on these winter days? Besides Riley? he hee. Me, I've been enjoying the privilege of flight and the trouble it can get me into. Before too long I'll probably be saying my name with a tone to it as that's how I'm hearing it more and more these days. KELLY! You're not suppose to be there! Just this morning mom thought she heard me say "Get down from there." I've heard that a few times when I've managed to zoom up onto the loft. Fun!

Let me introduse my self. My Name is Miss Big Baby and I am the proprietor of a couple pages on BC. The Thirsty Parot Bar & Grill, the BC Castle page and the most important page the BC KIssing Booth.

I am out cruseing BC in my Star Fleet shuttle craft from the Enterprise NCC 1701D. I am looking for a few good birds who would like to be in the Kissing Booth.

Would you or one of your flock like to be in the booth? It is a way to meet new birds on BC. It is a 3 week run that starts on a Mon around noon.

I have learned that in preparation for the reading of your notes, one must hold on tight to their perch so they don't fall over backwards from laughing so hard! You slay me! Not literally, just figuratively.

And OH! There's a correction I must make. In my Turkey Day note I made a huge error in omitting an "N" and apostrophe and a "T", as in "Kirby isN'T one of the attack conures. He might like to be but he's just not big enough. Were he to land on any of us bigger birds, he'd only feel like a mere fly, a tiny annoying insect bumping up against us. That fact right there gets him so riled, it's a wonder he doesn't jump on us just to be annoying. Anyway, please note the error and credit Kirby a point. It's the other three conures that have no use for us bigger birds save for a punching bag, a trampoline and a teething ring. Or should that be a beaking ring? And goodness, if your scientists come up with a GMC (genetically modified conure) strain, please, I repeat PLEASE don't let my foes in the next room know. I don't need them buffed up and weighing 24 lb. They're heavy enough as 4 oz missiles! Why my mom loves those three, I'll never understand.

Any luck on that Dorian House construction project? Imagine the bliss of having your own private place where quiet was the norm and you could hear your own thoughts without having to really concentrate. Oh wait, you have spent time imagining it; that's why you WANT IT! Yeah, me too, Buddy. Me too. Only I want the additional housing to be for the 4 oz turkeys. I want to stay in the house, thank you very much.

How are things around home these days? How's the newly married skin-sis? Settled into her new life just fine? Do you still see Beaker and Jelly Bean on occasion? Our neighbors we met here on the BC have been down to visit a couple of times here recently with an Orange-winged Amazon and an African Grey in tow. I believe you've met Arthur Alex from baseball days. He comes and hangs out for an afternoon, not saying a word or moving around much, which I know is not at all what he's like at home! I wish he would be comfortable enough to open up a bit more while he's at my house because I love to hear him say "I'm gonna smack your little butt!" That one makes me laugh every time, as does my mom.

Hope your November is winding up nicely and the next holiday is looking to be a merry one.

And here it is; the Holidays you were saying were fast approaching. Before we know it, they'll be gone and we'll be stuck in that long wait for winter to be over. Ugh.

Any luck in having the CONURE named as the new official 'Thursday's Bird'? It didn't pan out here either. ... "pan out" ... get it? I don't know if I've told you about the new living arrangements here for the McFlock. They were inspired by the conure clan. Yippee! Dad built a completely separate room for them off of my room... with a solid door in between that (somewhat) kills the noise and definitely keeps us bigger birds safe from three of those dastardly conure beaks. (Keep in mind Kirby is one of the attack birds, but he does live in there with his comrades Jensen and Zoren. He'd be lost without them.)

I really can't stay although I'd love to sit and chat about this and then about that, but alas, there are yet many holiday greetings to hurry about with. I shall keep my little toes crossed that time works in my favor and I'm soon able to wing my way back by your page for a bit more discussion on this and that.

...and happy belated Hatchday! I too am from Illinois, I am kelly's neighbor guy! Enjoy your day in the castle my friend! Well it seems like the BC has solved some of their problems, at least for now! This is the third day of hit and miss for us! At any rate, it is a beautiful Monday, let's all enjoy it to the fullest! My daddy has some of his usual first of the week errands to run, so I'll have him write as many notes as we have time for!
