My Mama saw me in Bird Crazy in San Diego and we fell in love! She had to fight with the Bird Store owner as they tried to sell me to someone else when they were holding me for her. Mom was pretty mad at those people!! Mama promised Dad that I would be her last baby but I don't believe it one bit!.

Hi! My name is Shelby

I am a Macaw from Running Springs, CA.

8 years old   F

Macaw

I love the wet mix from Bird Crazy and almonds

I love my tree stand and my mama's lap

I am just a 6month old baby Red Front Macaw...I do not have any pet-peeves yet...I am just happy being loved and cuddled!

She spoils me rotten! I love all the fun foods she is making me try! We are just learning about each other but Mama says she loves me more and more everyday!

I love to swing upside down and play in a big water bowl. I also love to eat my Mama's breakfast from her fork. My favorite thing to do though is to dance to "Bananaphon" by Raffi with my Mama.

Gotta Dance!.

  Rainbow here!
Big wing hug to you, Shelby!! It's so great to hear from your flock and to know that you are all happy and healthy. Extra exciting is the news that you and Stanley are STILL with the flock. That news just makes my day 'cause I didn't like imaging it any other way. Since we last swapped a note you've celebrated a Hatchday! Congratulations on soaring through your first year successfully! Bet you're looking brighter and more colorful than ever. Probably dancing up quite a storm these days too. Leavin' you with a tender kiss from a beak that's grinnin' with happiness at knowing you're home and happy. R ('>

  hi shelby
It is soo great to meet another Red Front Macaw. My mommy is finding that a lot of people have never heard of us. I am still a baby too so my red feathers are still coming in, itchy itchy! I have a cousin who is a red front too. We came from the same store. I live in PA with my flock, a sun conure, a senegal, a yellow collar macaw, my mom and dad, a sister and brother. I'm pecking you a vote. Stop over and say Hi. Zoee

Come visit me, Logan, Zoee & Milo.

  Shelby!
Glad to see you again! It's so exciting, what your Mama is doing for all our birdie friends out there hoping and searching for fun, safe, happy homes. I think I see her halo glowing from here in Illinois!! How's the homeschoolin' thing goin'? Do the students take the summer months off or is it a year-around activity? I bet you learn new things everyday yourself...like how to undo a clasp or get across that jungle gym faster...fun courses like that! Thrilled to squawk with you again. Take care, Shelby!

  Shelby,
Rainbow here. Remember my telling you about studying Algebra in homeschool? I've got the picture of me and the book on my page, put there just for you! Those were good times. What'd cha do in school today? Lunch and breaktime were always my favorites for obvious reasons; food & attention! I was wondering if you like to play with foot toys. Curious because you're a macaw similar to me; I'm not interested in them & my mom thinks that's odd. Need to know if I'm normal or not! AV2U for bein' my friend.

  Rainbow Here...Finally
Sorry it took so long for me to scratch back to you. Had an ice storm that took out the power which left this flock in the dark. And you know how birds can't do much in the dark! Even less on a webpage without power or the internet! The power outage lasted longer than the ice did. The graduated homeschoolers at this house are 21, 19 & 18. The oldest took an extra year to graduate, the middle one accomplished it on time and the youngest graduated a year early. All three sons still live at home because, well, they'd miss me if they moved away!!!! (And they'd miss the home cooking, laundry service, and other amenities!) Since they're all very nice guys I'm in no hurry to see them go. They each play games with me whenever they're home and also can be sweet-talked into sharing food with me. Good guys to have around. My mama is not a grandmama yet and doesn't anticipate becoming one anytime soon. You're going to have someone at the homeschool roundtable for a little while yet with an 8 year old there. Fun times! I love your extra pictures! That playgym, the one you're on with Stella; AWESOME! My mom's got rope and clips and hooks piled up here in preparation for the construnction of something similar but it's not going to be as BIG as yours! You're so lucky! Good to chat with you, Shelby.

  What a Beauty!
All of your colors sound dazzling! Couldn't you and I put on a show together! Enjoyed your note from the other day...of how you and your mama got to spend a bunch of time together. What a cool dad you have also! You know, my mom homeschooled her skinned-kids too!! I've got a picture of me studying Algebra w/ one of them once. Think I put a bite mark in that book. Jack said it exemplified his feelings exactly! Homeschool was great because there was always someone around to do stuff with. Now that they're all graduated there's no more meetings at the round table but that's ok...mom's completed devoted to us birds now that she's 'retired'!!!! Sounds like you're in school yourself...learning not to chomp on fingers...a temptation I fall prey to myself every so often...ok, more frequently that I want to admit! But I'm willin' to bet, with all the love and attention you're gettin', you'll master that desire with flying colors. (Hey, that was a good one...flying colors!!!! That describes you to a "T"!!) May you get some rockin' and scritches and lovin' time in today also. R! A V2U!

  Shelby!!
Stella has some very nice companions birds at her house! This is Rainbow, comin' around to meet each of you. I've never met a Red Front Macaw before. You're very pretty. I wonder what you look like under your wings. I see the song 'Bananaphon' is a popular number at your house. I'm going to have to get my mom to check that one out 'cause I love to dance! Looks like you do too! If only we could get together for an all out crazy dance session! What fun!! I'd love to sample your wet mix from Bird Crazy...if you like it, surely I would too. Smooches to you, Shelby! & a vote!
