Mom turned on the air yesterday, it was 86 downstairs!
Our hearts are sad for all that loss of life in OK. What a terrible event.
Mom worked in the RVS room again today, the baby foxes are growing like weeds! There are still a ton of raccoons and a few ground hogs, too. Then she went to get her hair cut, and stopped to pick up some lunch. We all told her to eat fast, because both the boys have a game today, and Falco wants to watch and cheer. Tonight she's working at the museum again, a special evening event. On my page is a pic of the fountain mom got running the other day. It looks like it's terra cotta, but it's really a light plastic. Hey Tooth !
Me and mom are taking a little time at the 'puter this morning before she leaves. It's too warm for sleeping ! Thank goodness the school had a/c installed over spring break - you can imagine what 26 ten year olds smell like after coming in from recess ? Ewwwwwwwwww !
22 days left ! Hip hip hooray ! Of course there's still that Philadelphia trip on June 5th - all the state testing and spring show practice prevented it from being any earlier :( Hot, hot, hot !

Hey, mom T enjoy the warm weather cause it doesn't last long!
Sorry I wasn’t on the BC on Monday. We had a very severe t-storm that lasted several hours. It cause some flooding, trees down, wires down, and no power in most of our county. Everything was back up and running this morning.
I was very, very scared and snuggled with mom the whole time, not making a sound. I don’t like rain and this was very bad. As soon as we could, we turned on CNN and saw the terrible destruction in Oklahoma. Keeping all those people in our prayers, so sad.

The Old Guy isn't going to develop pneumonia, is he? (When g'pa was in the hospital, that was one of the concerns)
My mom is waiting to see WHAT dad is doing. He actually had a tree service come give an estimate on taking out ALL the backyard trees. Wonder what will happen to the red bellied woodpecker that seems to stay in one of them.

How is everything going?? I hope you are enjoying the day and having lots of fun!!
I am trying to grab the remote, the mouse, mom's cord for her mp3 player and anything else I can get my beak on!! Yep! It's a great day!hehehehehe
It's making it hard on mom to blog for me but I know she can rise to the challenge! She keeps putting me back on her knee and I say "hello Sugar!"
Not much else going on today. It's just fine with me since I'm having a really fun time climbing all over the puter and all over mom!
I hope you and the mom's are having a fun day! Mom is hoping to get over to the library. She finished all the books she got the other day. I think she needs to slow down!

Mom kept Zippy from getting any more of my pellets.
Today there was a line of t'storms heading toward us. BUT, as will occur, the line split and went both north and south of us. We'll see if we get any rain tomorrow. It hit close to 90 today.

Hey tooth
Well only 5 weeks and counting ! And even better, the sun came out today ! Mom has a toy canal so she took the kids outside today to play . . . she needed the break too after babysitting yesterday ! I discovered I am cuter than a 14 month old, I'm more fun, I'm easier to take care of and I TALK ! The little bugger kept going for the 'puter and the remotes and as he's crawling at full speed, he's calling to mom "no, no, no" - silly kid !

Mom had training for a new exhibit today called the Roads of Arabia, which will open in a couple of weeks, then she had errands to run. 4th - Orb
Orb had the 1st post position and the jockey rode him by the rail the whole time. He hates being near the rail and you could see him put the brakes on. Rosie did really good on Mylute and lost 2nd by a head. They were both near the winner. Orb, the favorite was another 6 lengths behind them.
We won't be buying plants until after Memorial day. So, I'm sure yours will be planted first.
Today was sunny and a warm 80 degrees … FINALLY! I had a wonderful day. We had lunch and dinner on the patio. I was able to go outside several times too. The next two days will be severe t-storms and the temps will go down to 62 degrees. Was that summer today?????

DAY 18 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA'S LIFE part 10
When I brought Angel and Luigi home, I wasn't allowed to take them out of my cage. In the next few days I started to bring them out myself. It was fun hanging out with them because I taught them the bobbing head signal. Basically I bob my head in front of the cage and if they bob their heads, that means they want to come out. Also when Angel and Luigi were sitting on top of their cage, they would fly from their cage to all the way to the end of the room and turn and fly back to the cage. It was a lot of fun and I would start running and joining them too. Then Angel wanted to start breeding so I studied about breeding lovebirds and got the breeding box, the lovebird baby food formula and syringes. Angel and luigi tried breeding 5 times, the first 3, they laid eggs and then broke them and one of the eggs didn't hatch. Then I was learning on the way about staying away from the box and checking once a week. The next two times I did stay away from the box, and one bird hatched out. Unfortunatly Angel didn't take care of it properly and it died. Then the next time, 2 birds hatched out and both died since Angel didn't take care of them properly again. I realized that Angel wanted to keep breeding but I couldnt provide the box anymore because I had other things to do too. So I decided to sell Angel to someone who has another boy lovebird so Angel would continue to breed. I found a woman who owned a lovebird that was plucking his feathers. Before, she had the boy and the girl lovebird that were coupled. She and her husband got them from an auction. The wifebird had fractures and damaged body. I knew that the original owner didn't have patience with the female as they do bite to defend their territory. So after she got them, the wifebird died shortly leaving the husbird alone plucking. I was glad to give Angel to a good home where she would make the husbird happy and she would be living in with another couple, Bonny and Clyde. I was happy that Angel was with Sunny. Hey Tooth !
So moms are both busy these days huh ? Well, there are only 5 weeks left of school ! I don't know about there but here the last week is a waste - field days, picnic, clean the classroom, awards ceremony . . . so if the 4th grade doesn't know it by then, it's the 5th grade teacher's problem !
Mom was planning on a nice quiet weekend but her niece called to see if she would babysit. She's in a drum and bugle corps and has a parade on Sunday. So, if it's nice mom'll take Landon to the farm (he loves cows !) - if it's not, I'll teach him to play fetch by tossing toys at him !
Anyway the countdown has started - of course NYS still has the State Science Assessment in grades 4 and 8 ! UGH !

Hello Tooth~
I hope you are having a wonderful day. I've got the gardeners here to watch. They are outside my window mowing the lawns! Pretty soon Mandy will be woofing to go out just because she likes to smell the fresh cut grass! Mom takes her for a walk everyday and Mandy has decided she likes to walk down to the Starbucks. Do you suppose it's the scones they sell? I always share my scones with her so maybe she figured she just go down there and get us some! I like the way she thinks!!
Mom already went to the market before I even got up! The store is open 24 hours a day. It's less crowded early in the mornings but mom has to put up with freight on the floor and the floor scrubber being used. Since she works nights at a store, she is use to that stuff.
She got me some pecans so I'm looking forward to my snack! I'll be having apples and pecans today! Yum!
I'll be supervising the chores later on and letting mom know how she should do stuff! We all know our parronts would be lost without us!!
Mom finished Murder w/Puffins and put Revenge of the Wrought Iron Flamingos on hold! She is thinking of putting Crouching Buzzard, Leaping Loons on hold too since the books are being sent from another branch. We get to keep books for 3 weeks and if no one else has a hold you can renew them online.
Enjoy your day and I hope it's perfect! I sure hope the moms get to do something they want to do this weekend!!

Thanks for selling snacks at the games, the boys have been buying from you all week.
That was a close game, too bad we couldn't pull off the win! Congrats to the Wonder Wings for a well played game, though. Mom has 2 tours today, but they're widely separated, one at 11:20 and the next at 1:40. That means she won't get home til after 3:15, so we may be late for the game today. I hope we can get outside for awhile, though, because it's gorgeous out there, and mom still has some flowers to plant. She put in a painted fern a couple of days ago. She bought it because she thought one died. When she went to plant this one, the other one was up and thriving! So now we have 2, which is okay with us. I bought a bag of nuts at my game. Just wanted to tell you they were very good.
Well, the Derby is over but the Preakness is Saturday. Hope we get a Triple Crown winner this year ... I'm tired of waiting!!! Hmmm, I'll have to catch up with my Blood Horse magazine and see about Smarty Jones.
Today was a bit chilly so didn't stay out long. Friday is suppose to be really nice and get up to 72 degrees! Mom can't wait until Memorial weekend to get all her plants. Tonight is low 30's ... brrrr.

DAY 16 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 8
Before I ever got Luigi and Angel as my pets, I used to beg every single day for a pet. Ever since I was 4, I would wine and cry for a pet. The answer I got was a no, as always. Growing up, whenever I found out one of my classmates has a pet, I would go to my parents and use it as an excuse to get a pet. Then when I was around 13, I got very jealous when I found out my uncle got a hamster for his son and daughter and my neighbor friend got a canary. Well that made my beg and cry like crazy. So after begging for 9 years, my mom got fed up of me never giving up on this topic. So she discussed with dad and she asked me, what pet do you want? Well my options were short; I wasn’t allowed to get a dog, for obvious reasons in my religion. A cat will make my parents sneeze. A reptile was out of the question, and then I remembered how I loved playing with my grandma’s budgie. I decided I wanted to get a bird. Ok, the type of pet was decided, now the type of species was the argument. I told my parents I wanted a how bird that can talk and I could cuddle with. I asked to get a big bird, then no was the answer. First of all, theres no room in my house, second, I can’t put the bird outside since it’s freezing in Canada. So my parents told me you can get a big bird in Lebanon where it’s nice and warm. Ok, so the bird was going to be smaller, but I didn’t care because I wanted a pet really badly because I wanted to hold it and play with it. So when we went to montreal one time, there was a pet store in one of the big shopping malls. I went to see it and there was a whole bunch of small and medium birds. I saw canaries up high up on the cages. And fischers lovebird, cockatiels, it was a wonderland. At first I wanted the cockatiels, but mom thought they were noisy since they were screaming when I approached them. Then I saw the doves and I thought they were lovebirds. I told my mom I wanted the doves, she said no because they are harder to take care of. My mom pointed to the real lovebirds, they were so small, but then I thought about it. I hope everything is going great. It's been nice here but nothing exciting going on. We are finishing up the laundry today. Like I said, boring!
I'm hanging out in the play cage eating my apple and almonds and planning my next attack on that lovely toy hanging there! It's always a good day when I can make a lovely pile of wood at the bottom of my cage!
Mom is half way thru Murder with Puffins and she's been laughing the whole time! What a family!

Hi ya Tooth~
I hope you had a wonderful day! Mine was pretty good! I still have sunshine and I got to watch the gardeners today! They also opened the pool so I got to watch some crazy humans splashing around in there!
I got a little splash in myself! I decided it was time to clean up a bit so I threw the water from my water bowl all over! It's the only way I like to take a bath!
Mom went to the market today but she wasn't gone very long so it was okay. I just grabbed a nap while she was gone.
She went over to the library too so I have a nice stack of books to read! I can't wait! She got Murder with Puffins too! It took a while but that's okay. She started reading another series so she is alternating the books.

There's an old saying that a poor dress rehearsal means a good performance - mom is hoping the opposite is not true cause the kids did a good job ! Even after the lighting crew found out it was the blue bar that burned out - they have to use the blue gel on the spotlight to create night time. I've my wings crossed for her - not even so much for the show - for the cast party ! Almost 40 kids between 12 and 14 ! Can you say YIKES ?
Then mom will start this year's countdown . . . in the meantime, I'm working on a lovely mess for her for Mother's Day . . . Hi Tooth and flock
Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6
Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much.
Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom Gail. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it.

I see you're ready for Baseball, so are we! We wish mom T the best, and hope she can get a job sooner than what they are saying. She would be an asset to any place! Mom has a couple of books she wants to send, if you want them. One is Birds of a Feather, the other is Providence of a Sparrow. The first one is about a wild bird rehabber, and the second is about a house sparrow living with a human family, who ended up doing more than you might think to accommodate him. Let us know.
Mom's off today, and it's raining! Maybe that means she'll stick close to home. I know she's going to a different nursery with her sister, they made plans already. It's closer than the one they visited the other day, but it also has some great stock. Mom still needs more basil (can't have enough, you know), as well as some things for the last couple of planters. She decided no annuals on the ground this year, she'll put seeds there and see what comes up. Hope you are having a pleasant day, and get lots of scritchies today! DAY 9 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S LIFE part 1
Today birdies we have a guest speaker! Please welcome momma Dania! She will be telling her thrilling and also sad story of her life! Hello everybirdie! After my father and mother got married, my mother went and lived with my father in his apartment. So a few months passed and mother became pregnant, she was happy and greatful at the same time excited to see the baby. She still was in university and was studying, and her colleagues wanted to feel her stomach but mother was always uncomfortable so she needed her space. Well her colleagues were excited and didn’t know what is it like to be pregnant or your wife being pregnant. Moreover, 5 months passed and it was finally the time to know the baby’s gender! Mother and father were very anxious to know since this was their first baby, and so the doctor examined mother and got the results. After all the waiting and excitement, the results showed the baby, was wonderful baby girl. So my parents returned home happy and eager for the day when the baby comes to the world. Furthermore, months passed and the baby was really kicking and bouncing, and on the day when the baby was born, my parents still didn’t know what to name her, they were going to name her Emma but grandma, father’s mother, said otherwise. She suggested a name, and to my parents that was a perfect and beautiful name. The baby, cuddled in mommy’s arms, now in a new and curious world, she was named; Dania. DAY 8
FATHER’S PAST part 3
One day, while father’s mother and sister went shopping at the grocery store, mother spotted a young lady whom she recognized from Lebanon in maghara. She went to meet up with her and had a small conversation. The young lady mentioned where she lived and mother said that they’ll come for a visit one day. So sister and mother came back to father and said that they would go visit a family they know from maghara. Furthermore, they came to visit the family and were welcomed. Father met the young lady and knew she came from a good family. After talks and conversations, they fell in love. Father married at 36 years and brought his wife to live with him in the apartment. TOOTH!!
Baby finches have to be about the cutest little birdies ever! Hope Mom T gets a job, after all that work! This morning, mom cleaned and fed animals in a very full mammal nursery: 8 possums, 3 flying squirrels, 1 fox squirrel, 4 red squirrels, 3 chipmunks, and umpteen gray squirrels. There was one surprise there, though, a Chinese 3 toed box turtle! After she got back, she and her sister went to their favorite nursery. Mom bought a lot more than she planned, but it's an annual trip, so she figured she may as well splurge. The hanging baskets are spectacular, we'll have to post some pics for everyone. Tooth !
It's time to start the countdown ! Guess what happened to mom yesterday ? She was rehearsing with her drama club after school and one of her 7th graders came running from the light box yelling "Smoke !" Mom rushed to get everything turned off and hunted down the head of maintenence - who called an electrician. They finished their rehearsal on a dark stage ! Hopefully, they'll get it fixed fast ! Thursday is dress rehearsal and then comes the performances ! Lucky for her I was waiting and gave her lots of cuddles and beaky kisses when she got home. All dad gave her were ravioli's !Come visit me, Cookie ready for bazbol !, BC Library Now Open & Fly with the angels my Sally.

Oh, you're a silly bird! The Milonga Derby is Saturday May 11. The baseball starts on the 13th of May. You are a week ahead of yourself ... hehehehe. That's what happens when mom is working too much! NO WORKING NEXT YEAR MOM-D!!!!!
I got out in my stroller yesterday. But today, dad was cleaning the patio with some smelly stuff. mom said I couldn't go outside. I want to get out while it's still nice.
Today was another warm and sunny day. I’m liking this a lot! Wednesday should be a beautiful day too. Then, the rain and cold temps will be back. I can’t wait for beach weather! Have a good night.

DAY 7 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
FATHER’S PAST part 2
So after father boarded the plane to head to Canada, he started learning English and got a job at GAL POWER as an engineer. He lived in an apartment in downtown. It was hard to get around not being able to speak English as well but eventually he made a friend at his work who spoke the same language as him. One of father’s many adventures in Canada was fixing the electrical area behind a stage in front of the parliament where celebrities were supposed to preform on stage but the power went off. Luckily, father was able to fix it and everyone was back to cheering as the singers and performers came on stage. Furthermore, father was adjusted to the life in Canada except the fact that it was cold since in Lebanon it was warm. And so he was immigrating his family to Canada. First he brought his parents, then his sister and he was going to immigrate his two other sisters, which one of them is married and his older brother was in the united states but alas, Canada wasn’t accepting anymore immigrants so the family was separated. It was unfortunate and frightening since the war was still going on in Lebanon but he was able to communicate by sending mails to his sisters. So everyday they would send mails and even his parents to check on how they are doing and hoping everything is fine. Father had his parents and his sister live in the apartment with him. His sister worked as a teacher in Lebanon but had to get a new job, she went to college in order to work in the government. ANNUAL MILONGA DERBY
Yes, my fellow race lovers, it is that time again. The annual Milonga Derby is coming up this weekend.
Date: Saturday, May 11th
Time: 8PM EDT; 7PM CDT; 6PM MDT; 5PM PDT; 2PM ADT
Place: Milonga Page #165848
The big race is coming up, and I know you are all eggcited to see who will win this year. We have a whole new stable of horsies and some new jockeys and some returning ones. So make sure to place your bets with our paramutuel clerk, RaneBeau, and get ready for some real thrills as Chyna calls the race again this year.
After the race is over, we will announce the winners of the Annual Hat Contest with 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners in the mens, ladies and couples categories. We can tell you it is too close to call in each category at this point, so be sure to show up to see who pulls off the awards.
And you know Lizzie will be presenting her usual race day fare and the TPB&G will be mixing up mint juleps by the bucketful. For our younger birdies there is lemonade and all sorts of sodas, so we have something for everybirdy.
And finally we will finish the evening listening and dancing to the musical offerings of Sam and the Scruffy Birds Band. As usual Sam has a repertoire picked out just for this event, so I know we will all have a wonderful time.

We tied with Phoenix yesterday as the warmest cities in the US! COOL! That is a first!! I can also just about
guarantee it will be the only time that happens! Usually our weather records tend to be for the wetest place in the US! Today it is back to what May usually looks like up here! We are back to flannel shirt weather!

I hear you ! Life here has also been kind of nuts - dad's father just found out that he has a leaky valve that needs repair so dad's been running to cardiologists and surgeons . . . and mom has been having extra practices with her drama club - performance is next week !
Although with all this going on, one really good thing happened at school ! Workmen came in and installed a/c in the classrooms ! Hooray !

Shows how serious the administrators are about listening to staff, this guy obviously doesn't know what 'retirement' means. We are hoping for a good job locally for Anna, but she's willing to travel to find work.
Well, it's a beautiful day in the burgh, and here I sit at the computer, leaving messages for my friends. It will be brief today, though, because we real birds deserve a chance to go outside. Mom only had one tour this morning, so she was able to get her nails done and get a little shopping in before coming home. Mom will try to get a few things planted today, too. DAY 3 -THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
MOTHER’S PAST part 2
When mother arrived to Canada, the first thing her parents did was buy a home; it was a small home they bought as her parents couldn’t afford a big one. As mother lived in her home, there were no stoves to cook. That time they couldn’t afford a stove either so they bought cooked food from Harveys and others places that were affordable. Luckily, mother had an uncle who owned a candy shop near her so she was able to get sweets too. Mother had to share rooms with her older sister, the rooms were very small, and had mattresses on the floor. Furthermore, they only had a small kitchen, small living room tied with a small dining room, even smaller bathrooms and the stair only went up short. There were only four rooms upstairs and quite small too. They lived in a small neighborhood with houses stuck together. It was crowded in the house but happy they have shelter. Then she became a student at hawthorn public school, she couldn’t speak English but mother was able to speak French so she was able to communicate with other students and her teacher. Mother worked hard at learning a new language and soon she was able to speak it when she was thirteen. Everyday mother worked hard to do well in school so she would have a bright future and help her family earn money. She kept her marks at straight A+, her mother usually got mad when it was lower, but it was out of concern. Mother had to learn everything on her own and always went to the library from the morning to do research and stayed there until closing time just like what her twin siblings and older siblings did and her older brothers had to get working jobs to make money for the family. And even at a young age mother would do all the chores and clean the kitchen while her mother did the cooking. Mom has 7 siblings in her family; her youngest sibling was born in Canada. She had to take care of him, clean his diaper and wash him. She took care for him every day. Her dad worked hard everyday to earn money so the family could get food and eat. It's a pleasure to meet u, I am especially excited to meet another birdie that lives in PA! My name is TiaMaria, my friends call me Tia! I'm a 17 yr old Military Macaw from Greensburg PA, 20 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Luigi is my adopted little brother! His mommy is doing his BOTM campaign while finishing out the school year! Luigi's mommy, Dania is 15 yrs old & resides in Canada. She is doing Luigi's campaign on the civil war in the country of Lebanon, where her family is from. When Dania's mother was young, her family fled Lebanon after their house was struck by a bomb! She's starting with background info about her family, then will discuss the civil war!
