After we lost our precious, little Daisy, I was at the Bird store and saw him in one of the cages. I had wanted an ekkie for quite awhile. So I asked about him and learned that he needed to be rehomed. His previous owner had two seriously ill children and had to give him and his flockmates up. He was only two years old and just starting to talk. He was very scared the first time he was taken out of his cage. However, I visited him almost everyday for a month. He soon began to look forward to our visits. He also began to recognize me when I came into the store, and wanted to come out and visit me. One day my husband was with me and asked me when I was going to bring him home. So I wrote out a check, ordered his cage and made arrangements as to when I'd pick him up. It was an excellent decision. He's a delightful, wonderful bird and is very happy in his forever home. He said about three phrases at first. Now, 5 years later, he says about 3 dozen different things, including telling our ringneck, Princess, to "Stop it!" when she's shrieking. He loves to talk and has the cutest little voice! My favorite is, "I go poopy, Mama. I'm a GOOD BOY!" He does, too, and he is!! He's potty-trained..

Hi! My name is Finnegan - Will you be my Valentine?

I am a Solomon Islands Eclectus from White Lake, MI.

Finny, Finny-Guinny Mr. Finnegan, Buddy, Mama's Boy

8 years old   M

Solomon Islands Eclectus

CHEESE, pecans, CHEESE, grape juice, CHEESE, apples, eggs and just about ANY FOOD Mama and Daddy are eating! Did I mention CHEESE? Oh, and I almost forgot, blueberry yogurt, yummm!

My boing, the baker's rack out on the sun porch (when the weather's warm) and my playstand. I also like to hang out on the fold-down door of my cage, and of course, my fav...on Mama and Daddy.

Touching my head or my back with your hands.

Mommy and Daddy love me SO much that they share their food with me. I get to try so many new and delicious things. What bird wouldn't love that? I LOVE to eat, so that's really high on my priority list. I love to take showers with Mommy, and she and I constantly talk to each other. She's taught me many new words and phrases. I love to talk to Mommy, but not Daddy, although I'm getting better about that. Mommy gives me lots of kissies, too, and I say "Kissy" and make the kissy sound. In all, I say about 30 different things now.

I LOVE being blown dry with the hair dryer after my shower with Mama. I talk a lot, but stop talking when my Daddy enters the room. Best of all, I am potty trained and tell Mama when I have to poopy. I don't happen to think that's quirky, do you?.

What's for dinner??.

Poor Liv, she still has pink eye & she also has a stomach virus! It hasn't been a good week for her! Mom hasn't been on BC the past 2 days because we were taking care of Livi and she spent the night last night. I love the grandkiddos sooooo much, but they don't like me chasing them around, but they do like giving me kisses!

We are in for some really cold weather. Between now and Sunday the high temps will be in the teens and low 20's and the low temps will be in the single digits! On Saturday the temp will be around 11°/-2° and very windy & with the wind chill it could feel like -20°! That's way too cold!

I hope your day was a good one!

Hina seems to be the oldest goddess, for she is known all over the Pacific as Hina, Sina, or 'Ina. Essentially, she represents female energy, and a variant of her name, hine, is used as a word ending to mean female or feminine (cf. wahine). In many stories she is closely associated with the moon, the ocean, and female activities like tapa making, as well as healing. She has many, many different aspects and epithets covering a wide range of human activities. In the oldest stories she is variously the wife, sister, mother, or grandmother of Maui, and she has also been incorporated into newer religions as the wife of Kane or Ku. She does not, however appear anywhere in the Pele pantheon. The word hina means "to fall down," "gray," and "to blow in a straight course." Some of her forms include the 'elepaio bird, coral, a type of banana, and the gourd.
Haumea is the great earth goddess, sometimes equated to Papa the creatrice, and sometimes to La'iLa'i, the first woman. Her children are said to have been born from different parts of her body, which befits an earth goddess. That she is a very old goddess is evidenced by the fact that she was incorporated into several different Hawaiian religions, including that of Pele, for whom she plays the role of mother. She is usually associated with food supply, marriage, birth, and rebirth. In chants she is called Haumea "of mysterious forms, of eightfold forms, of four hundred thousand forms." One of her commonly known forms, however, is the breadfruit tree. There is no single word haumea in Hawaiian, but hau can mean "a ruler" and mea can mean "reddish (like red earth)." Because of her position as an earth goddess, and because Hawaiians consider stones as the bones of the earth, the Kahilis say that she represents the element of stone.
Pele is the most well known today. Although scholars consider her as a purely local development, the stories of Pele say that she came to these islands from somewhere else, sometimes as a human from Tahiti, and sometimes as a natural force that formed the Hawaiian chain of volcanic islands. In the most popular stories, however, she found the islands already here when she came, landing first at Ni'ihau, then Kauai, and moving onward until reaching her current home at Kilauea Crater on the Big Island. As a word in the Hawaiian language her name, pele, means molten lava. She is not, therefore, a spirit who lives in the molten lava, she is the spirit of molten lava itself. However, she is not the cooled-off lava rock, and the legend that she will curse anyone who takes rocks from her islands is a modern myth and not part of old Hawaiian tradition. Her various forms, expressed by herself or through aspects of her spirit "family," are those of an old, mature, or young woman; a white dog; fire; lava; wind; clouds; thunder; and lightning. She is also associated with the 'ohelo plant that grows on the slopes of the volcanoes.
Hi'iaka is the sister of Pele, born in the shape of an egg. H

  Hi Finnegan,
The meaning of the name “Laka” is: “Gentle, tame”.
Aolani Name Meaning & Origin
"Beautiful Heavenly Cloud"

Hawaiian Goddesses
by Serge Kahili King
The Hawaiian concept of gods and goddesses is very different from that of Western and Near Eastern traditions, from African and Australian traditions, and from North and South American traditions. Although still different, it bears a closer resemblance to the more eclectic traditions of India, China, and Japan than with any others.
The word for god or goddess in Hawaiian is akua, whose meaning is very indeterminate. It was applied to the spirit, i.e., the invisible motive or creative essence, of anything and everything. Therefore, the Creator, the wind, the first aspect of the full moon, a high-ranking chief, a slave, a ghost, and that which causes a motor to work might all be called akua in certain contexts. For the most part, though, the word was commonly applied to forces, persons, and things which had a lot of mana, i.e., power or influence. What this means is that, when we hear or read stories of an entity such as Pele, the volcano goddess, we can never be certain whether the story is about the spirit of a natural phenomenon, the human ancestor of a particular family line, or both, or neither.
Another important feature of Hawaiian gods and goddesses is that they are often completely unrelated. To people familiar with the Greek Olympians as a family opposing the Titans as a family, or the Norse Aesir against the Vanir, relations between Hawaiian gods and goddesses seem incomprehensible. As Martha Beckwith says in Hawaiian Mythology, "It seems to me therefore probable that different immigrant families brought with them the gods and ritual familiar to them." Unlike the Hindu system, which at least tries to form the gods and goddesses of many different peoples, times, and places into an integrated whole, the Hawaiians seldom bothered to do so, allowing vastly different traditions to exist side by side in happy chaos. And in the few instances where some integration was attempted, it was always very limited in scope.
One more feature to be mentioned about Hawaiian gods and goddesses is that the more power they were assumed to have, the more different forms they were thought to take at will. The most powerful could take forms that were either human, animal, vegetable, mineral, or other. The god Kamapua'a, for example, could turn into a human, a pig, a fish, a type of grass, or even the rain. In Hawaiian these forms are called kino lau (many bodies).
In this article we are putting our focus on Hawaiian goddesses, and since there are so many of them, we will only look at seven of the most important ones. Even then, only a small amount of information will be given for each one. In addition to information available from various written sources, such as Beckwith's Hawaiian Mythology, I will add information given me by members of the Kahili family who taught me their traditions personally.

  Heya, Finny and Miss Lucy!
We are missing the aviary and avatars, but the pictures are back on your page--guess the BC is doing something again. Hopefully all will be back working again. If we are lucky, that is.

We had some snow last night, and Grandpa said that Brian, his next door neighbor, used his snow blower to clean off his drive and walk. So he went for a paper, and then to get some nuts and bolts for a snowshovel that should be retired, but Grandpa loves it as it is very lightweight. He also picked up two more 25 lb. bags of ice melt (the cheaper stuff but since it is getting to the end of winter, should be fine). So Mom stayed home with me. Now we get the cold--it is 15 now, but the wind chill is 2. Glad I have my heater for tonight!

Wing hugs coming atcha!

Trust me you don't want to live here in the IE in the Central Desert!!!

  Hi Finnegan,
Sorry my blog is late, mom was tired when she came home from work and took a birdie nap.

I think the older hoomans get the more sleep they need. Shish!!

Anywho, today we will learn some words that if you come to Hawaii you will definitely need to know.

For example the restrooms have hydro glyphics and only says Kane (Ka ne) male or Wahine (wa-hee-nay) female. That's where a lot of tourists shake their heads trying to figure out which is which.

Also if you hear the word pupule (pooh-poo-lay) that means crazy; insane. Most common use is crazy.

Here's a nice phrase called Pehea 'oe? (Pay-hay-ya oy) (oy as in toy) meaning how are you?

A lot of us has to do this every week or get the trash out. 'Opala (oh-pa-la). Yes every week we hafta take the 'Opala out. :)

Here's a good one I think everyone will like. 'Ono (oh-no) meaning delicious, tasty. Most common use delicious, as in taste of food. :)

This one everyone had some of. It's called 'ohana (oh-ha-na) or family.

This one refers to my Angel frother Pookie. He was very niele (née-eh-lay) meaning curious, inquisitive, a busy body or nosy person or bird. Hehehe

This one we all say to each other. Malama pono (ma-la-ma po-no) meaning be careful, take care , or to care for. Most common use: Take care. :)

Hope you all have a fun time pronunciating Hawaiian phrases or words.

Soon everyone will be speaking Hawaiian.

Malama pono! :)

A Hui ho (ah who-ee ho) until we meet again or see you later.

Sending you all warm wing hugs and beaky kisses along with a vote.

  Hi Finnegan
I dont like my head rubbed or scritches but mom cuddles me tightly and gives me kisses all the time too.Maybe the difference is cause I was only 2 weeks old when mom bought me and she would hold me when she came to the store to visit and they would hand feed me while she held me. As I got older mom hand fed me there if she was there during feeding time. Mom visited the store once or twice a week and would stay at least an hour each time or more. That store had snakes for sale too (pretty dumb) and I am scared of anything with long handles or hoses or cords and mom suspects one of those snakes got loose but only guessing. I only went back to the store one time cause mom and dad were going on a cruise and mom felt it better I stay there since the workers knew me but I stay with skin sis if mom and dad go on vacation now.
Today started out ok but by afternoon it was really cloudy and the rain came. That is ok but its suppose to turn into snow and we might get 1-3” if the weather guesser guesses right LOL. Its suppose to get lots colder too. The two grands that are the same age were both home from school sick today. Sounds like a touch of the flu for both of them and they haven’t even been around each other. I was sitting with mom on the back of the couch for a long time this evening. Mom decided it was time to take a potty break so she sat me on the wastebasket. Well mom threw a pie pan in the wastebasket and all that shiny stuff I wouldn’t co operate. I got tired of sitting there and flew back to my condo. I don’t know why the humans throw scary things in the waste basket like that! “My heart smiles just thinking of you.“ Leaving a vote for you my friend~~Gus (RIP Chi chi)

It's definite. You and Lucy Blue will be in one of the buffet pics that Kaji and Lizzie will be posting in the Milonga gallery as soon as the voting is done.

Not much going on here today. Mom abandoned me as usual to go to her stupid gym and work out and then dance around doing zumba. And she stayed for the full hour of zumba this time. She stopped on the way home to pick up a script, and it turned out she needed to have her new card for the secondary insurance with her. She didn't think she had it, so she said she would come back tomorrow. Then when she got home, Dad reminded her she put it in her purse to see the doc last week. She had it with her all the time! Not really happy with herself.

Anyway I got her for a while before her shower and after. Even though it is actually hot here (80), there was no sunbath again today because of the wind gusts. They are blowing from 25-40 MPH, so Mom is not about to take me outside. Supposed to die down this afternoon, so hopefully I will get out there tomorrow which is supposed to be even warmer.

Don't forget to go vote for your favorite pics in the Valentines contest on the Milonga page #165848.   Heya, Finny!
Wow, so you have a connection to Peyton Manning! Okay, so it is for a haircut, but how cool! We sure do hope he retires--all that beating and battering that QB's take sure can cause some injury. Poor Cam was sacked so many times he has to be hurting today. He is good, for sure, and will only get better with more experience and more coaching.

Mom has the recipe from Grandma--she modifies it and uses more onion, and seasons the meat with more than just salt and pepper, and skips the fat. Hopefully Grandpa will try the BBQ and it will get a big thumbs up.

We got two inches of snow here. Should have been a dusting but of course the narrow band of it stayed right over us in a stall. Mom went to get a paper for Grandpa and then went over to clean up the driveway (he had snow blowed it already) from the snow that fell after he did it once, and do the sidewalk and salt everything down. He kept saying to Mom it was good enough but she doesn't do a half-arsed job, so...Now she is home and doing laundry. Guess we get more of the stuff, but hopefully it won't stick!

Wing hugs coming your way!

  Hi Finnegan
Happy Chinese New Year Everybirdie! It's the Year of the Monkey, I wonder if that gives us all a chance to act like monkeys all year long? Congratulations to the Broncos, too. We didn't watch the game, but Lady Gaga did one great job with the National Anthem, and Beyonce did a fine halftime show. We tuned in to that to see Santana play a little.
Mom finished the Pterosaur book, watched the videos from the AMNH website, watched the Puppy Bowl, and even turned on the Fish Bowl for a few minutes.
Mom cleaned the mammal nursery today, with 3 squirrels and 2 possums, all adults. None of them was ready to go outside yet, though, they each need some extra care. The little flying squirrel has a stash of around 2 pounds of nuts that she's keeping in a pillowcase in her cage. Everyone is letting her keep them. We think when she gets released, she'll have a stash to start with in the spring.
Someone brought in a fennec fox! These guys are desert foxes who live in the Sahara. He said he found it on his back porch, didn't know what it was, and brought it to us. The poor little thing is emaciated and dehydrated, as well as blind in one eye. They are keeping him in the treatment room for now and trying to bulk him up a little. If he survives, we think he'll be going to the zoo or to some kind of sanctuary. It makes mom so angry when people take wild animals and try to make them pets. There are enough dogs, cats, and other animals who make good pets already.
It's supposed to snow here tonight through Wednesday, but we'll see what happens. Those guys are wrong probably more than they are right. I hope you are having a great day today, getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

I'm so tied of the cold! We've been told by the locals that this is a very wet and cold winter ... not normal! They don't get rain from October thru May and it's 10 degrees (or more) colder than normal. So unfair for our first winter!!!!

  Heya, Finny!
Mom made BBQ bison today--spicier version of sloppy joes from a recipe from Grandma. I love it and so does Mom and Grandpa. She did not tell Grandpa it was from bison, so hopefully he will think it is greyt. He doesn't like to try things, so Mom will just find out if he likes it. I thought it was yummy!

Fat and tendons and stuff are yucky. Mom got the bison cuz it was a treat--it is expensive. But if she uses ground meat, she gets the super lean stuff. Mostly she buys turkey breast, but sometimes red meat is just a greyt change.

Got done watching the Super Bowl and am happy that the Broncos won. Hoping Peyton Manning will retire--he deserves not getting hurt anymore.

I do feel very badly about you and Lucy missing out on the pic contest, so I asked Lizzie and Kaji to make sure to include you both in a pic for the buffet. Those pics will be going up after voting ends on the 17th. Hope that helps a little. Those buffet pics are always wonderful.

I hope everybirdy will remember to go by the Milonga page #165848 and vote for their favorite four pics today, even though it is Superbowl Sunday.

Mom will be watching the game at home alone, since Dad doesn't like football much. She likes both teams, so she will be happy no matter who wins. It will definitely be a battle of the QBs, so youth vs. eggsperience? Who will come out on top? We shall see.

The Santa Ana winds continue to bring us warm temps with a high of 78 today. However with continual winds of 16-20 mph I once again am deprived of my sunbath. I am sitting in my window and yelling at the bush that is waving all over. I think there is something in there!!

  Hi Finnegan,
Today I want to talk about where my mom is from. She grew up in a little town called Hilo pronounced (hee lo). The name of Hilo is an ancient one, its origins lost in the mists of time. One of the widely accepted origins is that Hilo was named for a famous Polynesian navigator, Hiro, perhaps in honor of his great skill in bringing his people to this rich and fertile place.

The first night of the lunar month, just following the new moon, is known as Hilo. The think crescent moon is on the eastern horizon as the sun rises, its shape reflected in the curve of Hilo Bay's crescent shaped black sand beach.

No story of Hilo is complete without mention of the three names for Hilo. Hilo-one refers to the part of Hilo fronting the black sand beach, where shoreline activities like fishing and canoe launching took place. Hilo-Hanakahi, the fertile food-producing land south of Hilo Bay was named for a beloved chief who ruled here during a time of peace. The formidable cliffs that run north from the mouth of the Wailuku River are known as Hilo-pali-ku. Hilo was considered waiwai, or wealthy, due to its abundance of fresh water.

A charming folk tale has long been told linking Hilo to King Kamehameha, a great warrior, whose chief ambition, which he lived to realize, was to become the ruler of all the Hawaiian Islands. Naturally, he had numerous enemies, and he never remained long in one place for fear that the some of them might learn about his whereabouts and attack him.

Okay now for some fun stuff. Today is Sunday and it is spelled Lapule pronounced (la-poo-lay) in Hawaiian. The month is February and it is spelled 'Ianuali pronounced (yah-new-ah-lee) in Hawaiian. Have you got it? :)

Just say it slow and it will come, soon you all will be eggsperts in speaking Hawaiian.

Tomorrrow is spelled i ka la 'apopo pronounced (ee kah lah ah-poh-poh) in Hawaiian.

We shall finish or pau/(pow) in Hawaiian with good afternoon or aloha awakea (ah-low-hah ah-vah-kay-ah)or (midday).

Mahalo a Nui Loa (ma-hah-low ah noo-ee low-ah) or Thank you very much for your love and support.

Here's a vote for you and hope you all have a great Lapule afternoon! :)

Love,

Laka Aolani, Candidate for BOTM

  Hi Finnegan
The contests are usually announced on the calendar page and/or the milonga page by Kiddo or another member of the milonga team. Keep going there to see new contests monthly. There isn't always a contest with the milonga, but often there is. Sometimes the folks in the kissing booth hold contests, too, so check there every 2 weeks. Sorry you missed this one, Lucy's pic is adorable.
We now have images of pterosaurs on all of our pages. Mom tried to photograph the book on Pterosaurs, but it's shiny and that didn't work well. We got some images from the AMNH website to show everyone, and if you want to look it up for yourselves, this page shows a lot of what's in the exhibit and the book. We're just teasing you with a few images. You can go to AMNH.org/pterosaurs and see for yourself lots of what's on display. There have been about 150 different species of pterosaur fossils found, ranging in size from ones that will fit in your hand to Quetzlcoatlus northropi, which has a wing span about the length of a city bus and weighed between 180-250 kilograms! That's 550 lbs. at its heaviest. He stood about the height of a giraffe.
You might be able to access some of the short movies that are being shown, too. One big thing to remember is that they are NOT dinosaurs. They, like crocodiles and dinosaurs, all belong to the archosaur family, but they are cousins, at best. One of the things mom loved seeing is that they all had a fine hairy coating, probably to keep them warm.
I hope everyone wasn't bored by that, mom is finding them very interesting. Don't forget to vote in the milonga contest today and every day. I hope you are having a sunny day today. We are, and the temps are already in the 40s, but we know the cold is coming back soon. Make sure you get lots of attention today! Lots of cuddles and scritches should be coming your way. Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo and Divo, mom loves you both, Willie, Vote Laka for BOTM, Peppino, vote Laka for BOTM & Falco, vote Laka, 259145, BOTM.

  Hi Finnegan,
Tonight I want to talk about Madame Pele, the volcano Goddess of Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Legend has it that the lava flow will never come down to the Hilo side or the Kona side as long as the "Hawaiians" are in check. So to speak.

That's why there are Hula Halaus that have ceremonies at the volcano to leave offerings of food and other stuff but no hooman sacrifices. Which is good. :)

There are many legends at the volcano observatory that have written testimony from hundreds of tourists that have taken a trinket from the land and have fallen into lots of bad luck.

Be it a rock or black sand or something minute, everything from the Aina or land has to stay here. Once taken off the island the person or persons will have terrible terrible bad luck.

Many of them had since sent those things taken sent back to the island ASAP.

There are warning signs about taking anything off the island. All the written testimony proves that the legend is true.

Tourist beware, or prepare to have terrible bad luck. Indeed the Madame Pele spirit of the "Aina" or land is so true and strong.

That's like Mr. Glen Grants stories in his book "Chicken Skin" tells all and then some it's very true.

Happy weekend everyone and a vote for you too.

Love & Aloha from Hawaii. :)

Thank you for you votes and support.

At least we saw sun this morning. In the afternoon, the rain started and hasn't stopped yet! I'm still waiting around wearing my swimsuit and flip flops. Looks like one more week of low 60's ....brrrrrr. The only eggciting thing we saw today was a cute brown bunny eating our lawn.

  Heya, Finny!
Oh wow, we think that your folks processing the deer themselves is something. We have not had venison because Mom is a bit leery of the wild taste. Done like your Mom does, well, Mom would try it. We used to have a place that sold it fresh, but it got really pricey. This is the first time we have seen fresh in ages, some places sell it but it is frozen.

Mom went to get her feathers cut today, and her hairdresser said she loved the website. And sounds like Mom could get on as a consultant for other stuff that her hubby does. That would be cool. It sounds like there is a lot of stuff in the works. Guess we shall see. Then Mom said she wanted to see the hubby's laptop--it has been in to Best Buy 8 times in two years for issues. Mom says she wants to see what the problem is when he gets it back.

Then she made soup today. Oh, boy! I knew the minute she took that stock pot out that something good was gonna happen. Just got done having my second nibble at it (buried the beak the first round). Just yummy!

Hope your Saturday was awesome and you got lots of good Mom time like I did.

Wing hugs coming your way!

Kaji

  Hi Finnegan
I want to give a very big thank you to SweetPepper & her sweet mom for making my awesome Valentine's Milonga pic! Thank you sooooo much!!!

Mom left for 1 1/2 hrs today to get some supplies for Livi's science fair project. Mom is going to her house tomorrow morning to start working on sugar crystals. Livi is in a girls' basketball league so mom has to work around her practice schedule. I'm sure not going to like being in lockdown every time she leaves! Mom's world is supposed to revolve around ME!

I hope your day was a good one!
Love & a vote

  Hi Finnegan
The thunder never scares me either.Oh yes the bowl baths are always lots of fun. Boy we sure do have lots in common Finnegan!
This morning I kept flying to mom and she would let me sit on her shoulder and help her. She was just messing with making a card so it was no big deal. Once she got done with that and I flew to her she held me and said I was going to get a bath since it was time so we did that . I got a pecan for my treat so it wasn’t a bad trade off and then I got wrapped in my fluffy towel and went in the bathroom when I got my feathers blow dried. Oh that sure makes a fid feel great. Of course I kept thinking all day and begging too for another pecan but mom wouldn’t budge…if only I could get that refrigerator door open I would help myself!! “Our hearts decide who is family” Leaving a vote for you ..Frothter, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Oh, Finnegan
I am so sorry, but the deadline to enter the contest was yesterday. Actually all you had to do was post a blog on the milonga page saying you wanted to enter, and I would have picked up the photos and had them numbered and loaded. I hope you and your mom and Lucy are not too disappointed, but you can certainly come and vote for the ones that are loaded.

Yep, the voting has begun in the February Valentine's Milonga Pic Contest (hefty title, isn't it?). We are already getting lots of votes, so I want to thank all the voters and remind everybirdy else to get their tailfeathers on over to page #165848 and support your favorites. There are four categories, so four votes per flock per day. That's a lot of votes between now and the 17th, so get busy.

It is nice here today, but so far not quite warm enough to get outside. However tomorrow they are predicting a high of 80, with 80 or a little more through Friday. The warm weather is greyt for my sunbaths, but there is not a drop of rain in that forecast. That is not a good thing at all.

Mom got her new book from Amazon to replace the one I chewed up, so she will be making a run to the library today. I will be losing her for an hour or so, and nobirdy to blame but myself. Phooey!

  Hi Finnegan
When Cookie was king, he added the library to the castle. If you want to find it, go to the calendar page and look below the daily listing to find Places Of Interest on BC. The page number will be listed there. There are all kinds of neat books listed by BC moms, and of course, many are about birds.
We finally got some pics posted of the new chair: the first pic in the gallery is a close up of the pattern, but doesn't show the colors well, so the second one is the colors. The pillow on there is one mom cross stitched a few years ago. The third pic is mom's left hand, new polish.
Mom was at the museum today doing another spotlight of Archaeopteryx for a couple of hours. It was much more relaxed than last week, though. She only saw about 90 people. It's always fun to do those spotlights, because there are lots of interesting questions and comments.
The weather today is in the mid 40s, it's really sunny and pretty, too. We think that's not going to last long, though we can't complain about winter this year. It's been really mild.
Now that mom is home, she's ours, all ours, for the rest of the day! We hope you will all go to the milonga page and vote every day for each category. If you don't have the page number, go to my aviary and hit the biggest avatar, the pink and purple one.
Have a great day today, get lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Finnegan,
Sorry I didn't get my blog out today as mom had an interview lunch time and they made her wait for a few minutes then told her to come back in 15 minutes. Plus mom had to feed the meter but forgot her phone at work so she drove a block and then came back. She had to kinda walk far so when she came home she took a long birdie nap.

She didn't get up till 6 pm, what a snoozer I tell ya!

So tonight I'm gonna talk about Iolani Palace that's in town.

It's full of antiques and portraits of the past king and queens and other Hawaiian descendants also.

Mom took a ghost walking tour one night long time ago and one stop was at the palace and the tour guide was a renound ghost guy.

At one end where the princess was being held he said you could smell her perfume blowing in the breeze. And everyone on the tour could smell it and got chicken skin. Down the street was an old building that was an old morgue back in the day and that's why people in that building has eggsperienced things moving or missing.

The spirits are alive and moving there. Mom never worked in that building, well not since she heard about that.

The ghost tour ended up in the graveyard in town which was appropriate being a ghost tour an all.

Mom enjoyed it and so did her friends.

In my gallery you can see the palace and also other pictures.

Now you know if you ever go by the palace on the east side corner, try and see if you can smell the princess perfume. You'll be amazed, mom was. :)

That's all for tonight as my typist is getting sleepy.

More tomorrow and I thank you for your votes and support.

Here's a vote for you also.

Love and Aloha,

Laka Aolani, BOTM Candidate
