After we lost our precious, little Daisy, I was at the Bird store and saw him in one of the cages. I had wanted an ekkie for quite awhile. So I asked about him and learned that he needed to be rehomed. His previous owner had two seriously ill children and had to give him and his flockmates up. He was only two years old and just starting to talk. He was very scared the first time he was taken out of his cage. However, I visited him almost everyday for a month. He soon began to look forward to our visits. He also began to recognize me when I came into the store, and wanted to come out and visit me. One day my husband was with me and asked me when I was going to bring him home. So I wrote out a check, ordered his cage and made arrangements as to when I'd pick him up. It was an excellent decision. He's a delightful, wonderful bird and is very happy in his forever home. He said about three phrases at first. Now, 5 years later, he says about 3 dozen different things, including telling our ringneck, Princess, to "Stop it!" when she's shrieking. He loves to talk and has the cutest little voice! My favorite is, "I go poopy, Mama. I'm a GOOD BOY!" He does, too, and he is!! He's potty-trained..

Hi! My name is Finnegan - Thanks for making me your BOTD!

I am a Solomon Islands Eclectus from White Lake, MI.

Solomon Islands Eclectus

CHEESE, pecans, CHEESE, grape juice, CHEESE, apples, eggs and just about ANY FOOD Mama and Daddy are eating! Did I mention CHEESE? Oh, and I almost forgot, blueberry yogurt, yummm!

My boing, the baker's rack out on the sun porch (when the weather's warm) and my playstand. I also like to hang out on the fold-down door of my cage, and of course, my fav...on Mama and Daddy.

Touching my head or my back with your hands.

Mommy and Daddy love me SO much that they share their food with me. I get to try so many new and delicious things. What bird wouldn't love that? I LOVE to eat, so that's really high on my priority list. I love to take showers with Mommy, and she and I constantly talk to each other. She's taught me many new words and phrases. I love to talk to Mommy, but not Daddy, although I'm getting better about that. Mommy gives me lots of kissies, too, and I say "Kissy" and make the kissy sound. In all, I say about 30 different things now.

I LOVE being blown dry with the hair dryer after my shower with Mama. I talk a lot, but stop talking when my Daddy enters the room. Best of all, I am potty trained and tell Mama when I have to poopy. I don't happen to think that's quirky, do you?.

What's for dinner??.

  Hi finnegan
one day last year i kept screaming and screaming and mom kept checking on me and couldn't find anything wrong. my cage is right beside the sliding glass doors and mom thought maybe i had seen a hawk outside so she looked out the window and saw the big black snake trying to figure out how to open the screen door and come inside and eat me. mom grabbed her camera and went outside to take the picture and afterwards used a branch to get the snake off of the screen. she followed it as it slithered away and it went under the house.

  Hi ya Fin~
I hope you are having a wonderful day too! Mom just got off the phone with dad and he is back in Phoenix. He has a load to Texas but his truck broke so they sent him back to the main terminal in Phoenix. He has a new truck now but has to move all the stuff from the old one to the new one. That is going to take some serious time because dad has lots and lots in that truck! It is near 100 there so mom told him to get lots of water and do it slowly!hehehehehe He is not use to that kind of heat anymore!! 80 is considered a heat wave up here!!!
Enjoy your day!

  Hi Finnegan
That's why mom won't take any other birds, she's got enough cages and there's only so much time in a day to spend with us already. The good news is that Millie and Lily, the doves, don't really require human interactions.
Mom has been a bit dizzy and nauseous since last night, so when she left the center today she went to the store and got some ginger ale to help her settle the stomach. Hope that takes care of the dizziness too. Of course, she also bought a new cucumber, pepper, yam, and berries for us while she was there.
When she got to the center today she found out she was doing (what else?) the RVS room. But when Bree saw her, she suggested that mom just sit in there and feed bats. Mom fed all 7 of them and cleaned their cages, but it took over 2 hours. While she was working, one of the staff came in and told her not to clean the big cages, just to finish the bats and leave. Mom was happy to oblige. She thought she'd get some yard things done today, but it was raining when she left the supermarket, so yard work is probably out of the question.
I hope you are having a beautiful spring day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Peppino, in the KB until 4/20, Divo & Falco.

  Hi Finnegan
SHHHHHHHH!, Mikey D here at Widow's Creek. The place looks abandoned, not a bird in sight. Suddenly, outta the brush Black Bart's mite-infected side-kicks appear, guns poised at the ready. Mikey D takes a deep breath, and steps down from the lazy-board, and nods to the other drivers to follow suit. Cautiously, every nerve on the ready, the BC team moves to join the trail Boss.
"Far enough, now back off from them there wagons" a surly lookin' Raven orders, his six-shooter aimed at Mikey D. " fella's you take a gander and make sure them wagons have the treasure Bart wants."
Cappy and the tunnel birds have broken through the dirt and have slowly pried on the saloon floor until the boards are loose. Cappy is on high alert waiting for the signal. The tunnel birds are all ready to make their move and just wait in silence until Cappy hears the signal to burst through the floor and save Jesse.
"Wow, we tunnel birds did quick work." Pearl whispers to Silver waiting in the darkness," All the cowbirdies are eggcited and scared but more than prepared to do their assigned duties to carry out the rescue of Jesse as soon as the Trail Boss gives the order. They listen for the sound of Sky's double-barrel shot gun. Cookie shakes dust and dirt from his feathers after digging and stands waiting in silence. Dixie and Kallie along with Peepers and Celine all worked hard to move that dirt out from the tunnel they were building to connect to the saloon. They can't wait to save Jesse from Black Bart's clutches.
Mikey D, looks at the gang of thieves, then at the wagons. " Ok, you got everything ya wanted, now let my friends walk outta here peaceful-like"
"NO, Bart ordered us to take ya all hostage and bring you all back to town. You, come with me" he points at Pookie, one of the drivers, we're gonna go check out the loot. If there's any funny-business he's gonna get it. Hear me?" he growls angrily. Mikey D shakes his head, and waits not sayin' a word. He over-hears one of the bandits call the surly Raven, "Badact".
"WAIT! Badact ya sure you really wanta hand over all this treasure to Black Bart? You all kno' he ain't gonna share it with ya!" this gets the bandit-birds grumblin' among themselves. The plan is working. If they can convince these scoundrels that Black Bart is goin' to take everything they just might get them to turn against their leader.
Badact grabs Pookie by the shirt-collar and marches him to the sixth wagon, stoppin' to think for a moment, he then reaches his wing out to pull open the back of the canopy. He stops dead in his tracks as Kiddo jumps up, his gun leveled at Badact's head. The action gives everyone of the BC team time to dive for cover. Kiddo shoots over Badacts head, startling him, " feelin' lucky?" Kiddo yells angrily. Sky jumps out of his wagon bed, shooting his gun into the air, the double barrel echoing clear to the Ghost Town, signaling the Tunnel Birds into action. All chaos breaks loss

  Hi Finnegan
Howdy, Mikey D here, at the camp readying to head into Widow's Creek. Cappy the tunnel-bird champ and his crew are already heading towards the Ghost Town, digging their tunnel quickly under Black Bart's beak, and moving in to place to rescue Jesse from their felonious grasps.
Ms BB rides back quietly into camp, unseen by the busy birds, it isn't until she speaks they realize she is there, " the tunnel birds are gettin' near the saloon! I seen a big pile of dirt outside of camp. Black Bart still has not shown himself. Some of his gang are still at Widows Creek waiting for the surprise you have planned for them. The group have got the horses away unnoticed and should have them here in the remuda any minute."
"It's time everyone!" Mikey D says loudly enough to be heard by all, "OK drivers, carporals act real casual-like, and don't let them know anythings up! Gun-birds, stay safe, wait for the signal, " Where's that feather-plucked rat?" before you come out shootin' and may God be with us!"
"The horses are stashed safely among the herd of cattle and mules, " Peppino reports to the others.
"Everybirdie knows the part they must play to successfully rescue Jesse and keep us and our cargo safe. Black Bart will regret messing with us again." Silver exclaims, as he and Pepper check their weapons.Pookie says "I'm all ready lets start heading out. I've got my rifle along with a night vision scope attached. I never leave home without it." he climbs up into the wagon. Peepers,Celine and the rest of the Dixie flock are all eager to help dig and be tunnel birds! They all grab a shovel to show Mikey D just how strong and fast they can be! Cappy directs the work, as dirt flies quickly out of the tunnel. Kaji takes a quick look of the work and reports back to the others that the tunnel is nearly finished.
"Let's move'em out!" Mikey D calls as he snaps the reins of his team and pulls them out onto the rough, rutted road. Kiddo spins around and draws his gun to show he is ready for Black Bart before jumping up onto the back of one of the empty wagons, joining the others hidden away in the beds of the Schooners. They move along at a slow walk, no birdie eager for what is to come. In the distance Mikey D spies Widow's Creek and can just make out a small figure of a bird watchin' them.
The Tunnel completed, Cappy waits for a few minutes to regroup his team before them head inside to make their way towards the saloon. They check their guns, and follow into the darkness. They wait to hear the signal shot from Sky at the Widow Creek. Then they will bust through the final inches of dirt and bust into the back of the saloon to save Jesse. Falco and Chyna take a deep breath as they wait. Very bird's nerves are on edge, ready to swing into action......
Mikey D holds up his wing, as they pull carefully into the opening at Widow's Creek..
see ya tomorrow, MIKEY D

  Hi Finnegan
CONCLUSION ON SPIDERS
Cellar spiders which have super long legs like daddy long legs (which are not spiders) love to eat ants. if you have those tiny tiny little ants running around in your house cellar spiders will eat all of them.
3. Antarctica is the only continent in the world where you will absolutely not find a spider. There are creatures who live there like whales and penguins, but people and spiders stay away from the Antarctica lifestyle. because arthropods like to keep their butts warm, just like humans do.
4. Spiders possess shyness as a personality trait just like people .Spiders, even large ones like tarantulas, are docile in nature. Most spiders are inherently shy critters. They get squished more often than they actually bite humans. Spiders will defend themselves in rare cases, but these buggies mostly get scared and hide in the presence of danger.Because of their shyness they ALMOST NEVER seek out humans to bite. When spiders and humans come in contact, it is usually when they are looking for warmth or just happen to be seeking out food and we bump into each other.
5. Although we have all the eyes that we need, both spiders and humans rely on our other senses. You would think having eight eyes would be all the eyes that you need to see perfectly, but for most spiders that is not the case. Nearly all spiders have eight simple eyes, but having six more peepers than us, doesn’t make their vision any more superior since most arachnids have poor eyesight. On average, over six out of 10 people need to wear glasses or contact lenses, making our visual impairments almost identical to that of spiders. Instead, both spiders and people depend on our other senses, like sound, taste and touch, to help us survive. Nobody’s perfect; not people with two eyes nor arthropods with a whopping eight.

it is a pain to remove all those webs, mainly because they gather so much dust but consider letting spiders be or releasing them back outside the next time you see arachnid amigos in your home. plus i find them quite tasty

  Hi Finnegan
WELL HOWDYYYY!, Mikey D finally back online. WOW, no net was sure tough. Didn't know how we'd make it much longer. Thankfully we can just pick on up were we left off. We gathered together to plan our rescue of Jesse and a greetin' for Black Bart he'd not soon forget. Lizzie had rustled up a great meal, but nobirdie seem too hungry with so much about to take place. With the wagons unloaded, and Apache, Bon Bon. Angel and Willie standin' guard we set about makin' plans on how to carry out our mission.
" I have scouted out Widow's Creek." Ms BB explained, " There is 1 road through the creek with lots of cover to hide in. That's bad for us cause Black Bart has his gang hid in it. I seen the movements they made back and forth to their horses. " BB paused for emphases "The cover is good for us cause we can sneak up & get the drop on them. Maybe a few birds can sneak in & lead their horses away.?"
"Now, that sounds like a workable idea, " Zippy says eager to get goin' and save Jesse. "I volunteer to go!"
"I will too" Parker adds. " Me too!" Flitzer offers.
"OK, you be careful. Take their horses back around the creek, and into our remuda for safe keepin. But be careful." Mikey D says, patting them each on the shoulder. He knows he's picked the best birds to do that job. Angel-tiel, Pepper and Peppino join the group as they ride out of camp to carry out their mission. Angel & Pepper are happy to help the birdies execute the "surprise" for Black Bart!
"We need to get these wagons hitched and ready." Sky adds looking at Mikey D for direction. "I'll be honored to be in the wagon as I'm a good shot." Pookie steps forward eager to do his share to help. Cookie and Spot get their guns ready, they know the team will out smart that rotten Black Bart and his gang.
"We're ready to do whatever part we need to help rescue Jesse and keep everybirdie, cargo, etc. safe." Pearl and Silver check their weapons and smiling, join the volunteers climbing into the now empty wagons.
Cappy steps up to help Mikey D and Sky lead the attack. "I'm very proficient with a sling shot lol. " he begins to pick out shooters to be in his wagon. Kiddo re-loads and speaks up "I have my six shooter loaded and ready to go!" he hops into the wagon bed ready to fight. Cappy asks "has anybirdie thought of digging a tunnel into the town? ... Cappy explains he is very adept at digging escape tunnels .
"NOW, that's a plan" Mikey D says grinning widely, We need tunnel birds quick! Any volunteers? Wings go up all over camp. "Cappy, you take all the tunnel-birds you need and head into town. Tunnel your way carefully towards the saloon. "Jesse!, we'll be there soon!"
see ya tomorrow, MIKEY D

  Hi Finnegan
the more spiders we have around the less chance for the need of any poisonous insecticides.for the next 2 days i would like to talk about SPIDERS. my mom and Cori are very afraid of them but would never hurt one .Spiders are one of our most misunderstood creatures. There are movies about them taking over your house, they are depicted in autumn decorations designed to scare people, but spiders are just like us. From our mutual disdain for mosquitoes and some species tend to their young, we have a lot in common with this arachnid . Plus, We need spiders in order to survive. Before you squash that spider that you just spied crawling across your floor, consider these five fascinating facts about these eight-leggers.
1. Mother spiders stay with their babies, just like we do.Almost all spider moms protect their young by creating a safe “blanket” made of silk to cover them with and then guard the sac until hatching. The moms that don’t leave or die before their babies hatch will stay with their wee spiderlings and care for them. The wolf spider, who is known as super-spider-mom, will carry the egg sac with her until her tots hatch. Once the wolf spider babies are born, they climb onto mom’s back and ride along until they are full developed. They survive by eating the yolk from their egg sacs. The wolf spider babies go everywhere that mama goes, including during her hunting. If a baby falls off of her back, she will halt what she’s doing and wait for the little bugger to hop back on. Comb-footed spider mamas also stay with their little ones and feed their offspring with liquid from their mouths. This all sounds a bit like attachment parenting.
2. We have the same archenemy: the mosquito. over one million people die each year due to mosquito-borne illnesses? There are 10 major diseases that are caused by these little buzzers, including Malaria and the West Nile virus. Well, our friend the spider eats those pesky pests. In fact, certain spider species, like the Malaysian jumping spider, get their nutrition solely from mosquitoes. Another jumping spider from Africa is known to eat mosquitoes exclusively, unlike most spiders who eat mosquitoes and other insects. Spiders are also known to stalk mosquitoes like cats

I hope you are having a lovely day! Still very beautiful up here and we are not expecting any rain until Wednesday. I think there will be lots of people out this weekend! The Orca pod is back in the San Juans so I think lots of people will go up to take a look at them. They have a baby with them this year!
I think it's just wonderful that your mom foster's birds. Some bird are just don't like being touch and I think that's why lots of them end up in rescues. I am all for letting them be who they are going to be. As long as we birds know we are safe and have toys and food, we will be just fine! It takes a very long time to build trust but I know that Holly knows your mom is a special lady and that she can trust her! I do hope it all works out for Holly! She still has a long life ahead of her! I certainly will be praying for her!

  Hi Finnegan
Of course there's hope for 25 year old Holly. She just needs some TLC. We hope your mom can take her and help her out, and not be a failed foster. Mom would be, though, she couldn't give up a foster. That's why she does squirrels and possums, she knows they're wild and have to go back outside!
Today mom had her best spring day at the center so far. She got to work in the bunny room and take care of the baby squirrels. Many of the babies have been weaned and are eating either salad (bunnies) or mash (squirrels), so mom got to clean their little cages and prepare baby food for them. She loves the babies.
It's cool and cloudy again today. Mom didn't get any work done outside yesterday because while we were blogging it started to rain. It rained on and off all day. Today was supposed to be better, but it's still pretty humid outside and a bit cool. Mom doesn't like to work out there on cool damp days. I hope you are having some good spring weather and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  HI FINNEGAN!!!
Well we actually live in a gated community on top of the mountain in a very wooded area..It has 3 lakes and so the bear do make their trip to the lakes often and we happen to live a block away from the one lake. The lots that there are no houses on are entirely wooded areas and many trees..Most houses when being built here only clear out enough area for the house & yard and let all the trees surrounding the rest of the property. So I would say we are a spot in the woods...Guessing this is a big decision for your Mom but giving that once beautiful bird another chance to be the same again would be a challenge for her...Bless her in whatever she does...Our Mom took in our 2 sisters Coconut and Baby Girl because of an owner moving and her child was allergic to them. They have their own pages but BC has not moves them to your page as of yet...Mom keeps asking them for their help.....Well Finnegan hope you are having a great TGIF...Pecked a V4U...Many birdie wing hugs to you my friend...Love, Sam :o)

  Hi Finnegan
SOME SAD NEWS:
New data from the highly secretive arm of the U.S. Agriculture Department known as Wildlife Services reveals it killed more than 2.7 million animals during fiscal year 2014, including wolves, coyotes, bears, mountain lions, beavers, foxes, eagles and other animals deemed pests by powerful agricultural, livestock and other special interests.Despite increasing calls for reform after the program killed more than 4 million animals in 2013, the latest kill report indicates the reckless slaughter of wildlife continues, including 322 gray wolves, 61,702 coyotes, 580 black bears, 305 mountain lions, 796 bobcats, 454 river otters, 2,930 foxes, three bald eagles, five golden eagles and 22,496 beavers. The program also killed 15,698 black-tailed prairie dogs and destroyed more than 33,309 of their dens.

“It’s sickening to see these staggering numbers and to know that so many of these animals were cut down by aerial snipers, deadly poisons and traps,” said Amy Atwood, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity. “These acts of brutality are carried out every day, robbing our landscapes of bears, wolves, coyotes and other animals that deserve far better. Wildlife Services does its dirty work far from public view and clearly has no interest in cleaning up its act.”Agency insiders have revealed that the agency kills many more animals than it reports.

Many animals – especially wolves, coyotes and prairie dogs – were targeted and killed on behalf of livestock grazers or other powerful agricultural interests. Wildlife Services does not reveal how many animals were wounded or injured, but not killed.
The new data also show that hundreds animals were killed unintentionally including 390 river otters, as well as hundreds of badgers, black bears, bobcats, coyotes, foxes, jackrabbits, muskrats, raccoons, skunks, opossums, porcupines and 16 pet dogs.

The data show that the federal program has refused to substantially slow its killing despite a growing public outcry, an ongoing investigation by the Agriculture Department’s inspector general, and calls for reform by scientists, members of Congress and nongovernmental organizations.“Wildlife Services continues to thumb its nose at the growing number of Americans demanding an end to business as usual,” said Atwood. “This appalling and completely unnecessary extermination of American wildlife must stop.”Just since 1996 Wildlife Services has shot, poisoned and strangled by snare more than 27 million native animals.

Just cleaning going on here today. My play cage really needs cleaning because someone make a huge pile of chewed up wood on the bottom! Don't know how it all got there but I do know it is time to clean it up! Have to make room in case someone wants to chew some more wood up!!!
Enjoy the day!

  Hi Finnegan
Howdy partners, Mikey D here with our Thursday update. Things had taken a turn for the worse, when SKY and GUS came up with a plan that might just work to help us free Jesse and keep our cargo safe. Black Bart, that low0down dirty bird bird-napped Jesse as he rode a lame mule back to the remuda. That rotten scoundrel has his black, beady eyes fixed on stealin' our cargo, taken our wagons and riding off with our mules and herd. Well, let me be tellin' ya, there ain't no way we's gonna be givin' that low-flyin' thief and his gang of lice-bitten villains anything, and we're gonna be show him in no uncertain terms.
" Here comes a lone rider Boss!" Cappy yells out from his look-out position in a nearby tree. "It's Miss BB". Miss BB gallops into the camp & dismounts. "Boss, I did not see any way we can get into that Saloon in the ghost town without being seen. There are guards on top of the buildings. Mr Sky's plan sounds like the best chance of success. Sky and Gus are right about Black Bart. He & his gang are not that bright. Just downright mean & ornery. I volunteer to be in one of the empty wagons. " she exclaims a growl in her voice.
The group of birds burst out in a loud cheer of triumph. " We'll take on that stealin' bird-nappin' feather-duster of a hooligan." One and two by twos the birds offer their wings in this battle to save Jesse and protect their precious freight of Birdie-treats.
"You know I'm with you!" Sugar yells high-fouring Mikey D."You could put Lizzie in that wagon. I guarantee you that is all you need to do." Kaji says, as Lizzie demonstrates her fire power for everybirdie.
"You're right, she'd toast him, but good. We gotta make sure we get Jesse back first, then she can practice her flame-thrownin' skills" Sky says laughing. The others join in and soon everyone is laughing at the image of Black Bart meeting Miss Lizzie.
"Now, that's fire-power" Flitzer adds." there sure ain't no shortage of volunteers to take on Black Bart. I certainly want to be a member of this mission to rescue Jesse!' Kiddo tells Dory and Polly.
"ok, we're all in agreement. Let's get these wagon's unloaded quick. I need some riders to head out to the remuda and have them bring the herd close in. Miss BB, you, Sky, and a few volunteers ride out to get the Beakerton Agents out on the trail still. We have a big party to plan for and right quickly too!" Mikey D assigns the work and heads to his wagon with Chuey to begin the job of unloading the freight. " We'll need to have gun-birds stay here to guard the hidden cargo." he takes a deep breath. Time is running by fast and they had much to do if their plan was going to work.
It isn't long before everybirdie is gathered together, working to prepare for the surprise that was awaitin' Black Bart and his gang come sundown at Widow's Creek.
see ya tomorrow, MIKEY D

  HI FINNEGAN!!!
We see many deer, bear, wild turkeys, racoons all the time in our yard and also an occasional fox. This is spring, summer and fall for some and the deer all year around....Wow that does sound pretty awesome to have somewhere the parronts can go and pick up a decent cage and not spend the big bucks for it.Nothing like that around here...That sounds like it would be great to have a bigger parrot in your flock if for only a while until it is adopted..The weather has been beautiful here the last couple of days with sun and temps in the mid 60s..Have a great Thursday..Just pecked another V4U..Many birdie wing hugs to you...Sam :o)

  Hi Finnegan
Honest Steve sounds like the place to buy a gently used cage. Fostering a grey means you will have one more bird in your house, and mom will fall in love with him/her! We know because of Gizmo. Greys are so amazing! All of us parrots are amazing, but greys are more so.
Nothing special going on today, just chilling with mom. She is still working outside to clean up after the winter, but it's too cool to take us out there yet. Maybe Saturday, it's supposed to go to 70 then. Tonight mom will go to dinner with her sister, then clean our cages again. It's a recycling week here, so she'll be cleaning up all the paper we get in the mail on a daily basis too. Tomorrow all the extra newspapers will go to the wildlife center for use there.
I hope you are having a good day, getting some springlike weather, and of course, getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Finnegan
How awesome that anyone who needs a cage can go shopping at Honest Steve's Cage Sale and pay a minimal price for a gently used cage!My Mom would do the same thing also, even if the cage is clean she always goes over it again! Our cousin is an African Grey(CAG)Bella and she just turned 21 years old and we have a cousin Trixie II who is a Jenday and she just turned 3 years old.Peepers is 23 years old and Kallie is 21 and I am 22(Dixie).How awesome that sweet little Pixie fell in love with Larry. And what a loving home they have found with your sweet loving Momma and daddy! Our Mom used to take in unwanted fids and there were alot of heartbreaking reasons why they were being dumped.Mom and all of us just give your wonderful Parronts warm hugs for being so loving and caring.
We had a wonderful day here also in the 60's with warm sunshine!Dixie got to go for a car ride with Mom to Nana's and while Nana was having PT out in the yard learning to walk with her cane Mom took Dixie out in the sunshine and walked with them.He really loved it and didn't want to come inside!I hope the rest of us get to go outside tomorrow! Finally its beginning to feel and look like spring!Mom and all of us just love the picture of your sweet Momma with all of you on her!Such a pretty Mom adorned with pretty fids!
Wishing you a greyt day and we're sending you all our love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses,Loving you always and forever,Dixie,Kallie and Peepers!

  Hi Finny and flockily
Mikey D here after a day's absence. I must say Mr Sky ( Sky Flock) looks rather handsome with his beak and nails all trim and polished. Then to make it worse he got a huge wooden toy from Chuey's Chewable Bird Toy Creations. Geesh, I had to sit here and tend mules all day in the hot sun whilst I fretted some over how we'd get Jesse back from Black Bart. As I was sittin' astride the lazy-board on the wagon, driving these tired, sweaty mules Ms BB came ridin into our midst.

"I had a short meeting with The Bird yesterday up in the hills. He/she has had a hard time getting away from Black Bart. The Bird said "Black Bart & his gang have Jesse in their camp in the ghost town. They are in the saloon." I hope this intel helps. I am going to scout the ghost town for ways to get in without being seen" with this message she wheeled her steed and galloped off into the distance before I had a chance to ask any questions. The whole message has me troubled now. We have until sundown to figure out a way to rescue Jesse, before we have to deal with Black Bart. There ain't no way, no how we're gonna hand over our wagon train to the likes of that feathered rascal.
Lizzie is thoroughly disgusted." I shoulda toasted Black Bart last time," she thinks. "Now he has Jesse. I know I should just pay attention to my cooking but I sure do have a mind to torch that dastardly demon. " she exhales a puff of smoke and fire in her anger. Kaji looks at her, and grins. Black Bart just might have bitten off more then he can handle this time.
Mikey D calls a break, pulling off into a nice cool grove of cottonwood trees that grow by a shallow river bank. The perfect place for a quick, make-shift camp and rest. Everyone needs a break and somethin' good in their bellies, then they will figure out how to rescue Jesse from that bad varmint Bart. BB was off scouting the Ghost Town, and no doubt would be back soon with the intel they needed to make a quick, safe mission of it. Even the smell of roasting beef and bread wasn't enough to stop that knot of worry in Mikey D's stomach.

Sky and Gus arrive at the camp, and tend their team. Washing up in the river they hurry to find Mikey D. " We've been thinkin' boss, we might have a plan that just might work. You see, Black Bart isn't that bright, just mean and ornery so we were thinkin' that if we were to unload the wagons and deliver them to him at the Widow's Creek. Instead of freight we have gun-birds stowed away inside the wagon beds and when he comes to check them out, we gett'um good. He won't even suspect a thing. We act all afraid and all when we pull into the rendezvous place. We can teach that rat bird a lesson he'll never forget.
Mikey D listens carefully and smiles. It might just work, if everybirdie can play along with the plan. But "Is there enough birds willing to take on Black Bart?" he asks out loud hopeful that they can win this battle.
see ya tomorrow, Mikey D

  Hi Finnegan
i didn't get to go outside yesterday. mom messed up on the blogs. she was tired and didn't proof read it and somehow included Coris blog in mine. i don't wear a harness and always go outside in my cage and mom sits there with me and reads the paper or a book. good news that Jenny Lynn is allowed back on bird channel but not until May.

the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced a plan to kill 16,000 double-crested cormorants who it believes need to die simply because they eat fish. The Army Corps plan on targeting cormorants on East Sand Island, which is located near the mouth of the Columbia River. The spot is considered an important point for migrating salmon, but it’s also an important nesting site for cormorants and a variety of other birds.

The island is home to the largest double-crested cormorant colony in the west, the largest Brown Pelican roost in the Pacific Northwest and the largest Caspian Tern colony in the world. It has also been designated as an internationally recognized Important Bird Area by both the Audubon Society and the American Bird Conservancy.Bird and wildlife advocates raised serious concerns that the proposal was cruel, wasteful and pointless, and used these birds as scapegoats for problems affecting salmon that are caused by humans – namely dams and habitat loss. The plan could have dire unintended consequences for cormorants who may be doing well on the island, but aren’t thriving elsewhere, which could push them towards needing endangered species protection.

Criticism brought by researchers from Oregon State University who were hired by the Army Corps to study the bird population on the island. They say the Army Corps ignored their findings and isn’t using the best available science in its plan to protect young salmon.Despite widespread opposition from the public and scientific community, the Army Corps announced it has finalized its decision to reduce the number of cormorants targeted, but will still kill nearly 11,000 of them and destroy more than 26,000 of their nests to reduce their numbers by more than half. They still have to get permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to begin, bringing in contractors from the notorious Wildlife Services to start the killing this spring.A lawsuit could shut down the plan and save cormorants from this massive slaughter. The Audubon Society of Portland announced its Board of Directors has voted to sue both the Army Corps and the FWS if permits are granted.

  Hello Finnegan~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's sunny and windy here. We had to put the fireplace on for a bit just to warm up the living room. We got a bit of cold weather for a few days but since they really needed the extra snow in the mountains I am just fine with it.
Mom had to renew Merlin's "Home Again" chip this morning. They charge $17.99 a year but that is not bad at all. With him being such a crazy cat it is necessary to keep all the info updated just in case he does get out. Everyone has learned to be vigilant when he is around so hopefully it is a service we never have to use.
Mom is feeling much better today. We have some cleaning up to do and then she needs to stop by the market. No bread or milk in the house!! Mandy will be getting a bath also. Then mom will be back to work tonight. She is not going to work on Friday night since there really isn't any reason to. She'll just take a vacation day for Sunday night.
I hope your day is just perfect!

  HI FINNEGAN!!!
Glad to hear you are getting some decent temps now and it seems more like spring..We finally are also and do enjoy our screened porch in the summer but the parronts have a lot of things to get off of it before it will be ready for anybody being out there..They had all new laminate floors put in and all the old carpet taken up which made them have to store a lot of things on the porch..Now the big task is getting it all off for the summer..Hey, that is awesome have a family of mallards living on the covered pool just so they do not damage the cover..It would be so neat to see the babies...What we have around here is the doe with their new born fawns every year.Pretty neat to see how small they are when first born and trying to keep up with Mom...Have a wonderful Tuesday,,Pecked another V4U..With many birdie wing hugs to you my dear friend, Sam :o)

  Hi Finnegan
It's so neat to be able to watch the waterfowl! I bet you love it! Do the swans have cygnets yet? I think probably it's too early, but saw the pics in your gallery.
Dinner last night was a lot of fun. They ate at a place mom had never been called the Silk Elephant. It was pretty good Thai food, but she liked the company more. She hasn't seen Jim for awhile, and last time she saw him, he was here for his aunt's funeral, so they didn't get to talk much. Last night everyone got caught up with each other over a good dinner. What could be better? And mom found out he's here for a few more days, so maybe she'll get a chance to go visit him again. He is staying at his sister's house, which isn't too far.
Today mom is hoping to get out into the yard and continue the cleanup. The guys came and mowed yesterday for the first time, so we think spring is officially started now! I hope you are having a fun day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Finnegan
Its always nice when spring finally springs LOL
Today dad and another guy did some more of the boundary lines at the trail. They use the GPS to find the old marks if they can and then remark them again since some are either gone or badly faded. These boundary marks is to know where the property lines actually are and that people wont wander off onto someone else property. This afternoon it warmed up and was so nice and I got to go outside again to enjoy it too. I have chewed off a good portion of my feathers (a bad habit I started when I was young and had a crop infection) so mom is hoping the sun will help me leave the feathers grow again. “Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them but you know they are there.” Leaving a vote for you.~~Your friend, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

Oh does that sound so wonderful to be able to go out on your summer porch and enjoy some fresh air and play all day! What a nice place you live in to be able to just watch everything that's going on the lake!We have swans in the swan pond that's about a five minute drive from us and we have a big pond at the end of our development that has all kinds of mallard ducks and Canadian Geese! It must be so much fun to watch the ducks swimming on top of your swimming pool cover! We can't wait for Mom to take us all out in our stroller for a walk down to our pond so we can watch all the ducks and the fishermen and in the summertime all the kids are down there playing in the pond splashing around too!Mom has our playgyms in each of the rooms here,we have one big playgym in our room, another big one in the dining room and a smaller one in the TV room and Kallie gets to fly all over the house all day long,he knows he can only land from one playgym to the next and not go anywhere else.Dixie can no longer fly around with him and is stuck in the cage until Mom comes to get him,he can't hold onto her either because his toes are all twisted from gout.So Mom needs to keep him safe until she can be with him.In the summer we get to spend lots of time on the deck outside in our deck cage and watch everyone walking by and all the birds coming to the feeders and the bird bath.We just can't wait for the weather to get really warm so we can go outside again!
Wishing you a greyt day and we're sending you all our love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses for our sweet friend Finnegan!Love Dixie,Kallie and Peepers
