Neither rain, nor sleet, nor gloom of an impending ice storm could stay Mom and Dad from their determined goal to make it to the Greater Kansas City Caged Bird Show last March [2009]! Mind you, they had no intention of bringing home a birdie, but they were in dire need of a few items that a parront can’t find for their fids in any stores in the Kansas City area. They found everything they needed…ME ! ! !

Okay, Corkus Porkus…let’s give everybirdy the WHOLE story, shall we? Corky’s dad and mom had been talking about finding a pal for their 6 year old Green-Cheeked Conure, TidBit, for quite some time. His mom had even considered a beautiful little Green-Rumped Parakeet she met at the local pet store. But somehow, it just didn’t ‘feel’ like the right match, so she let that opportunity pass. While browsing at the bird show, she spied the most gorgeous little Turqouise Mutation Green-Cheek, that she just simply could not walk away from. Corky’s dad knows when his wife’s heart has just flown the coop, so all there was left to do was pick up supplies for the new baby too!

Active within 4 Days Hi! My name is © Corky ~ 2013 CrackerJack Conures Pitchin' Bird I am a Green-Cheeked Conure from Warrensburg, MO. My "formal" name is © Corkus Turquoisius Maximus. But I get called Corky, Corky Porky, Corkus Porkus, Corkimorkus (And any other “…orkus-Y” sounding variation Mom comes up with in the moment!) 4 years old M Green-Cheeked Conure I’m not real adventurous about taking treats yet. But just the other night, Mom nearly passed out when I actually took a morsel of Pizza crust from her! Although, she suspects that the Stitch’s Spicy Popcorn she gives me while we watch Sunday Night Football is going somewhere OTHER THAN the bottom of my cage. (…I’ll never tell!) You can pretty much find me either hangin’ out as close to the side of my cage next to TidBit’s cage as I can get. Or layin’ on my back on the floor of my cage playin’ with my toys. (That REALLY panics Mom ‘cause she can’t see me right away when she looks in my cage!) I’m just starting to feel comfortable outside of my cage anywhere but on Mom’s finger. I’m a pretty easy goin’ Little Fid. About the only thing I don’t like is Mom gettin’ too MUSHY for too LONG! (Geeze, can’t she just give me ONE kiss and be DONE WITH IT?!) When I wake up every morning…there’s Mom. When it’s time to go nite nite every evening…there’s Mom. Whenever I want attention…there- ’s Mom. Whenever I DON’T want attention…there- ’s Mom! (Oops…maybe that shoulda been up in “My pet peeves:”) I’m not quirky…I’M CORKY!. Like I just said…”I’m not quirky…I’M CORKY!”.

Our First Game is Thursday 5/16 @ 3 pm
Crackerjack Conures!!!!!
Listen up! Our first game will be Thursday against the Wonder Wings team! It should be a great game and we're playing against my frother Scion! hehehe! The first pitch goes at 3 pm EST. If you can't be there during the game, try to fly over to the stadium either earlier or later to see what is going on there. This year participation is everything and it will be checked by the officials! I sent out the season calendar with all our games on it yesterday in an email. Let me know if you didn't receive it!

I have two chores for the team!
1. Please blog me your hatch day - so we can be sure to give your the hatch day wishes from the team on your special day.
2. Please fly around and say hi to each CJC team member. We do have some new team members this year and we need to make them welcome! The team roster is on my profile page with everybirds' page number.

Tomorrow is Opening Day - the events begin at 2:30 EST but the first pitch is at 3 pm EST and the White Hawks are playing the Pois. It will be a great game if you have a chance to fly by! See you there! And see you at our first game on Thursday afternoon!

The CJCs will have a baseball practice at Kevlar Stadium #239836 on Saturday at 1 pm CST - that's 2 pm EST! I hope you'll be able to fly over. It's a little short notice but then again, baseball season kickoff is almost upon us - May 6th!
We will also have informal practices at the Stadium next week on Tuesday night at 8 pm EST and on Thursday night at 8 pm EST!
I also have the following workout routine for you to try out at the stadium on your own time!
Five times running around the bases - no flying!
10 sit up at each base, including home
10 jumping jacks at each base, including home
Hop up to the top of the perch stands and back down once
And 5 squats at each base, including home
Feel free to do that workout as many times as you like on the stadium page 239836!
And if anybirdie has any amazing cheers - please let our head cheerleader Kallie know at 195234!
Hope to see you all at the Stadium on Saturday afternoon!

Thanks for your numbers! Who is the conure that wants to be a reserve player? I have 3 so that will make 4 to make 14 for the team plus 2 cheerleaders! Our team is very popular! Sure can't wait to play! Is your mom the Commish? I didn't know that.

CJCs - time to get ready for Baseball!
Hi, Fantastic Conure Teammates! Baseball is a barely over a month away. Now, we're past the holidays, Valentine's, the Oscars, so it's time to get a moving and shaking those tailfeathers and get in shape!!!!

I even tried screaming like a conure in celebration of your win but not long that I was squeaking instead of squawking! You little fellas must have the biggest bio-megaphones in your little bodies to make such a tremendous noise for so very long. It is like your whole body is a audio magnifier!! Anyway, Happy Belated Hatchday! I hope it was a swell time! It must have been some party because I see it's still going on! I have a gift for you, King Corky! Sam holds up a silver bell on a silver chain. Sam holds it high over his head & King Corky jumps up and rings it! YES!! Sam says. It's the perfect tone for you! It's KING Corky for the day! Well, maybe you're the King there at the Korral everyday, I don't know. It'd be cool to know a little conure was the head honcho of a big and impressive flock like yours. Truth be told, I won't be the least bit surprised if you told me that's really how it is. Then again, the Cork~Meister that I know is this sweet little self-entertained, keeps-to-himself kind of guy. Whatever the rest of the crowd's doing, you're fine with as long as you've got your ball and stuff.

I hope the red carpet was rolled out in front of your cage and all the world was made your castle today. Congrats a whole bunch on winning the award the day after your hatchday. Nicely done Corky. Nicely done!
