 I was visiting my favorite exotic bird shop and one of the employees convinced me to hold an Un-Cape Parrot. I had never heard of such a bird, but the second Beaker stepped onto my hand and put his head down for a scratch, I knew it was all over. Two weeks later, Beaker joined the family. These Gray Headed beauties are adorable and affectionate. I am lucky to have such a rare birdy buddy in my life.. |

Did someone say PEANUTS??? Oh ya, I like nutri-nuts and nutriberries too. You may think I am crazy, but the only thing that gets me down from the top of my cage besides peanuts is a nice bowl of veggies!
 My favorite places include, my boing, the top of my cage, and anywhere mom hangs out (especially when she has food). :o)
 I really don't like it when mom takes my soccer ball and throws it. Other pet peeves include that little green Parrotlet that lives across the room, it especially drives me nuts when she flies in circles above my head! And come on, why do people have to touch my stuff? I don't care when mom does it, but if anyone else comes even close, watch out!
 Did I mention Peanuts? Mom's shoulder also has the perfect space for me to hang. I am even willing to dive off my cage to go to mom. One of these days I will learn to fly!
 I like to mimic household sounds like the door alert, microwave and even mom's text message alert. I like to make sounds into my food bowls so it echoes and I love trying to take baths in my water dish even though I can't quite figure out how to fit inside it. One of my many adorable habits is doing somersaults off of the top of my cage (I haven't quite figured out my graceful landing yet). I am also quite the ladies man! ;o).

Heya, Beaker! Game tomorrow!
On Wednesday, we have game two of the season against the
Kevlar Keets. Never underestimate the Keets--they are
playing in the stadium that bears their name, and they are
force to be reckoned with!
Of course, both Co-Captain Calico and I know we have a
team that is strong, and coming off our first win--so we
are pretty confident that we can keep things on the
winning side!
Practice will be an hour before the game, so come early.
Get a good night's rest, and eat a great breakfast, too!
Lizzie will be providing snacks for us during the game, as
she does all the time. And afterward we can get together
at the Bar and Grill to kick back and relax!

FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON
Hi fellow Pois, It's Capatin Calico.
Tomorrow, Monday, 12th is the first game of the 2013 Birdie Baseball Season and we're playing the first game, against theC-2 White Hawks.
There will be a pre-game show at 2:30pm eastern time and the game will start at 3:00pm eastern time.
I know we have not had a chance to practice as a team. Kaji and I have been swampped. I'm sure all of you have been practicing on your own and Iknow we'll do a great job. Let's try to make a great showing at the first game of the season.

WE WON GAME 3.

THE WORLD SERIES STARTS TOMORROW
Hi team!
Captains Kaji and Calico here.
Tomorrow, Oct 17th is the first game of the Birdie Baseball World Series and we're playing in it. What an honor this is! To think that, just a few months ago, we were wondering if we would ever win a game. But, just a few months later, here we are, playing in the World Series. What a comeback we made!
The next 5 days are the most importand 5 days the Pois have ever experienced. They will decide whether or not we will be the World champions. We're betting that we will be THE WORLD CHAMPIONS.
We are playing The Mighty Macaws. Their team name speaks for itself. They are Mighty. So, tonight, get lots of rest. Eat a good dinner and have a light breakfast. We'll see you on the field, bright and early for practice. Calico and I will be silent during the game but we'll be with you, playing just as always.

Heya, Beaker!
THIS IS IT! ALL OR NAUGHT! THE FINAL GAME OF THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP IS TOMORROW!!
Captain Calico and I are here to let you know that we have taken the championship down to the wire. Tomorrow will either see us as the Beak League Champs, or will send us to the stands to watch the C2 White Hawks take on the Mighty Macaws.
We want to say to you that no matter what happens, this team has such heart, and such sportsmanship--and how humbled we are to be your co-captains. We started slow, and for a team with many new players, that was the best approach ever. We had a lot of new players on the team this season, and everyone really came together so well, and really worked as a team.
So, get some good perch time tonight. Come to the ball park early and we will get a little batting practice in. Lizzie has promised some good food to keep our strength up. Come with your 'A' game, and let's do everythign we can to keep the season going!

Nah, I don't have any new cheers but I do have something important that I need to tell you! You are a great Pois'N Dem ball player! You have been the BEST First Basebird of all the Beak League team's! I know because I've been watching them! I am so glad you are on our team!! It's been a privilege and an honor to play baseball with you and all the other Pois'N Dem! Sam gives Beaker a big hug! Thanks for the best year of baseball I've ever had...even though it's been the ONLY season of baseball I've ever had!! Heehee!! It's been a BLAST and I wanted you to know this before tomorrow's game. Yeah, it's real important, but it carries no weight to having any influence on how I feel about our team. You see, after this season is through, I won't be back. There are so many Grey Birds wanting to play that I agreed to Coach next year. So there will be a mixed grey team of Congo's and Tinmeh's that are just waiting in line to play. Scratch me off the Pois' N Dem, that would make at least another dozen or more who get to play! How could I tell them "no"? That's why I'm sad about not playing more games NOW with the Pois'. Heya, Beaker!
PLAYOFF ROUND TWO ANNOUNCEMENT!
Da Pois'N'Dem are now in Round Two of the Playoffs! We are playing against the C-2 White Hawks, who have reigned supreme over our division all season.
The dates:
Monday October 3rd
Wednesday October 5th
Friday October 7th
Monday October 10th (if needed)
Wednesday October 12th (if needed)
This is a best of 5 round. So we need to be on our toesies and make sure that we play solid, fundamental ball, okay? So no partying (too much) before the gamedays. Get to the ballpark early for some strategizing and some practice. Lizzie will be bringing some special food and drinks for us, too, in case you don't get a good breakfast before the game (though Captain Calico and I strongly recommend eating breakfast!)
We are playing the games for our friends, Bailey and Sunny. We also want to remember our teammates from years past, who are with both Bailey and Sunny at the Bridge: our sweet little Divo, and our dear Baby. We know they are watching over us, and we need to make sure that we play our best for them!

Captain Calico and I are so very proud of what this team has done this year! To be able to be in the playoffs is very special, and we have done it two years in a row. That in itself is incredible!! So hats off to every single one of you on this team!!

Heya, Beaker!
PLAYOFF ANNOUNCEMENT!
The Pois'N'Dem will be playing the first round of our playoffs on Monday, Wednesday and if needed, on Friday. So this note is to let you all know to show up at the ballpark this coming week for some batting practice and light stretching!
I do have news: our Nippy is not on the BC any longer. Coach Calico noticed it when she went to post the last game, and let me know. I got Mom to let me use the puter so I could write to Nippy's Mom to make sure everything was okay. I got this back from Nippy's Mom:
HI GUYS,we are doing well,mom has been so busy,mom had to travel to P.R,due to unexpected death of her stepmom,now she has the flu and is in bed sick..mom decided that we are unable to log on bc like we use too but you guys can email us when you want too..we miss you all even mom but she is going thru alot especially worrying about her dad which has bed diabetes and lives alone,say hi to everyone for us..love,hugs and beakys to all..nippy and gang and mom.
So, playing in place of Nippy will be either Ginger or Leah. I sure wish that we could have our little star player with us during the playoffs, but I know that sometimes we can't have what we want.
Ginger and Leah, we are going to let you decide as to who will play on Monday and Wednesday. Both Coach Calico and I are very confident that either one of you will do superbly!
So, even though this is a little early, remember to be at the stadium Monday and Wednesday for the game!! And we are a great team, and both Coach Calico and I are thrilled that we are in the playoffs again this year!!

LISTEN UP -- We play the Keets tomorrow!
Tomorrow we have our make up game from when the Ump was sick! We are playing the second game in the double header, so make sure that you get good rest (no flying around partying tonight, or, if you do, come back home at a reasonable hour so you get your baseball/beauty sleep!) and get to the ball park tomorrow some time after the first game has started.

Glad that you are back! I bet you got all spoiled at your Grandma and Grandpa's, huh? Nice that your Mom and Dad could do some traveling, too--Mom would love to go someplace (anyplace) but she says that she really needs to do things around the apt. and wants to take some time off to do that. She was working a whole lot of hours and weekends and stuff. I would love it to have her home with me, even if it means she is working around the place, cuz I would be on her shoulder! Anyway, we won our last game, and get ready for a two game week! We play on Wednesday and Saturday. So it should be a great week!!

We are playing the C-2 White Hawks. We remember that they beat us the last game we played against them, so everybody needs to get a good night's rest, and eat a good breakfast, too. Okay, we have to play the Might Macaws tomorrow, so the instructions from Coach Calico and me are: plenty of rest, good breakfast, batting practice and some good stretching before the game. We are gonna have to be very fast and very crafty to beat these big birds, and Coach and I know that we are up to it! Da Pois are Da Best, and don't anyone forget it!

I know I have been bad at getting around to say hi. Mom is the reason why--she has been working on a huge project for her job, and still won't let me on the puter when she is at work. Not fair!

Well, Team, lets get ourselves ready for the second game of this week. We are up against the Rockin' Red Tails. Now I know that we lost the game on Tuesday, but we really did have fun during the game--and that is what this is all about. Oh, gosh and golly gee...we had a little problem getting the game info out to everyone last night. With many apologies for the snafu, I have to say this:
POIS POUNCE ON KEETS
The Kevlar Keets played host to the Pois N Dem for today’s game. Defense dominated the 1st inning as both teams went 3 up 3 down. In the 2nd, Pois Comet hit a triple and scored when Coco hit a triple as the Keet offense was denied again. In the 3rd, Pois Hal opened the inning with a double. Nippy then hit a triple as Ginger, Leah and Ollie all hit doubles. Kaji then hit a single as Hulk hit a double to net 5 runs for the Pois. The Keets finally got on the score board when Baby Birdman hit a double and scored when Duty hit a HR. The 4th saw just 3 singles by Sam, Willie and Little Peep and no runs. In the 5th, Pois Nippy was left stranded on 3rd base as the Pois returned the favor for Spirit Cloude and Baby Birdman. In the 6th, the Keet defense held the Pois hitless as Ms Ronnie and Lattie Jr hit triples and Spirit Cloud and Emily Rose hit doubles to make the score 6-5 Pois. In the 7th, Comet, Gizmo and Hal hit triples, Coco and Nippy hit doubles and Sam hit a single to make the score 11-5. The Keets came right back as Duty hit a solo HR into right field. Then Jazzy, Ms Ronnie and Willie loaded the bases. Lattie Jr and Spirit Cloud also hit singles as the Keets scored 3 runs and left the inning with bases loaded. In the 8th, Calico hit a triple and scored when Kaji hit a single. Beaker followed with a single but was left on the bases with Kaji. Duty and Sergio also hit singles but could not round the bases. With the score 12-8, the Pois opened the 9th inning with a single by Coco. Gizmo and Sam then hit doubles and Hal hit a single to make the score 14-8. Keet Little Peep hit a double to try and start the Keet comeback but the rally fizzled. Final score: Pois N Dem 14, Kevlar Keets 8.
WE WON!!! And everyone contributed so much, I know Coach Calico would agree: We are so very proud of each and every one of you! This is the best team, win or lose (we prefer win, right?) cuz everyone plays with 110% of themselves!

Game tomorrow!
Well, it's Monday, and what a fine day to play ball. We will be playing twice this week, so...make sure you work out, practice hard and get plenty of good eats and sleep!!
We are playing the C-2 White Hawks. Now they are bigger than we are, so the strategy here is to really hit hard and try to get on base. We are faster and smaller, so hoping we can steal a couple bases!
Oh, ya, it would be really nice to get a win tomorrow, too--cuz it is my Birdthday! 21 years ago today, Mom walked into the petshop and the lady there brought me out. When I saw Mom I was in love, and did this head bob and ran up her arm and settled right in the crook of her neck. She could hardly believe it. I was right there for as long as she was in the store, and even though I poopied on her twice, she took me home with her!
