 My mom and dad fell in love with me as soon as they spotted me at the flea market. My breeder is the same one as Bobo's so my mom is always in the store and when my dad seen me, he had to have me which really shocked my mom because he's always telling her, "No more birds!!" I think it was my sweet little face that lured him in! hee hee! Damn I'm good!!!!!
My mom's best friend, Kathy K. just lost her Moluccan Cockatoo a year ago and his name was Buddy so that's how I got my name. Thank you Angel buddy!. |

Bad news: Fwanky's left flight feather has been cut off after I saw her yesterday ( We arrived to MI from Washington DC yesterday)! I have no clue how that happened! But don't worry, she's still doing fine- bein' herself- except that she's now calmer than usual... Should that be good or bad? Hi Buddy - How you doin'? What is the latest in your life? How's the flock (human and feathered)?
I'm not doing so great. When I went to get my collar off, the vet took some blood. She found that I have an infection, probably in my heart. (I've had one before there.) AND, to make matters worse, my blood pressure, which is high, has elevated.
She put me on some strong antibiotics. I go in to see her every week for a shot. I don't know for how long. My blood pressure meds have been increased, too.
Mom is so heartbroken. She just wants me to be healthy. It's so frustrating and scary to keep running into one health challenge after another. Well, she can't forget that I'm a fighter. A survivor. I've made it this far despite the problems -- which are due to the past abuse and neglect I suffered -- and I intend to keep fighting. I'm full of life and bouncy. I'm going to beat this, dammit!
So please keep your claws crossed for me.

You are soooooo lucky, you have the best mommy in the whole world (well...besides my mommy! Tehehe!) And you are named after one of the most wonderful birds ever. Angel Buddy was a very dear BBFF of ours, and his mommy Kathy is a friend of my mommy's too. My mommy actually started her rescue in honor of Buddy. So you are definitely one lucky birdie! Artie here to check in and see how you're doing, you little guy.
I'm in my collar (again). I hate it but Mom says I need it because I worried a teeny tiny spot on my belly. It's just a little sore, Mom! She wants to take no chances of infection. My worn out body couldn't take it, we fear. No worries - it will come off in a few weeks. In the meantime I get extra skritches and time out with Dad (my human of choice).
Anyway, I hope you're staying warm and dry. Does it get very cold there? Mom always thinks of FL as being warm and sunny.

I'm glad you didn't have to suffer to find your forever home. We parrots deserve to be treated as you are - with love from the start. I guess the upside for me is that it makes my days now that much sweeter. I still bear the scars of my past, but Mom kisses them and makes me feel happy to be alive and loved.
I'm way happy to be clean now - you're right, I was a filthy mess when Mom found me. I had my preening gland removed because it was so badly infected, so I don't have natural oils to protect my feathers. Mom gives me a misting from time to time when I need a little touch up. Otherwise, I'll bathe in my water bowl when I feel like sprucing up. It's good to see my white feathers sparkle.
I'm so sorry to hear about your bro's itchy belly. There is a medicine called "Soother" that my vet gave to my mom for when I start picking at my belly. Fortunately, I don't do it often, but when I do, Mom tries (ahem!) to put it on me. It's a cream that protects the area and reduces itching and inflammation. If you want more information on it, my mom can send it along.
I'm really honored that you'd nominate me for BOTW. I might like to take you up on it. What does it involve? Do I need to hand out "Vote for Artie" buttons? Tee hee hee!

Summersaults off your perch? Wow you sound like a wild one! I like jumping from daddy's tummy to his raised knee and then back again. I also run in circles on the back of the couch and almost fall off. One of my favorite things to do though is chase after the dogs feet (or mom's if she is watching). Mom says she wants to get a video of me doing this.

Thanks for your visit. Yes I can talk - not much yet though. My favorite thing to say is "night night". I tell all the other birds this when mom and dad cover them up; I tell mom and dad this if it is getting too late and I still hear them; I tell dad this when I want to go back to my cage or when he is trying to change my food before the sun comes up. I also say "whatcha doin" and "I love you". My human sister came to live with us last year and she thought I was too noisy so she taught me a phrase that mom and dad don't like - "shut up". It came in handy a couple of times when sister was beginning to argue with mom. I told her what she told me and they started laughing. What do you say? Are you nice to everyone or do you have favorites? I love my dad but still bite mom.
