Sprouts
I recently sprouted some seed, and gave to sprouts to my finches. Though they were nervous at first, Pyr took a bite out of a wheat berry sprout and enthusiastically sampled the other sprouts. My other finches quickly followed his example.Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Swings
Today i went and purchased a swinging perch for my finches. They can't seem to get enough of it! Pyr even ate his grape half while swinging vigorously on the perch. Cute :)Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Building an Aviary!
After much planning and deliberation, I have decided to convert one of our computer rooms into an indoor aviary. My cousin, who has 4 indoor and 9 outdoor aviaries on her huge property in San Diego, is driving up here to help me :)Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Sneeze?
Tday, while I was feeding Pyr a grape half, he peered at me and seemed almost to sneeze a a bit before resuming his normal activity. After looking into bird sneezes, I discovered that it is normal for them to sneeze once in a while. Whew :)Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Feeding Fruits
Today I took a few pomegranate arils (the fleshy bits surrounding the seeds), diced up a few grapes and apples, and threw them all into a bowl. My societys were not the only ones to enjoy this meal; my four zebras also hopped over to investigate. I ended up making a fruit salad for them as well.Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Perches on Finger!
Today I was doing a routine cage change, when suddenly...
Pyr, with a short chirp, burst out of his nest and landed on my finger. I froze, mostly from shock. He stayed on it for a few more seconds before fluttering down to his birdie bath :)
Needless to say, that made my day!Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.

Finch Song
My finches have different songs =]
Ember's is a muted chiming, while Pyr's is a high-pitched gurgling whistle. How endearing!
Both my birds seem to enjoy recordings I have of mountain streams, and will chirp enthusiastically when birdsong starts in the recording ^.^Come visit me, Pyr & Eirwen.
