Fresh Papaya, Mango, grapes, Raw Peanuts, pumpkin and papaya chews, and all SUNFLOWER SEEDS!!!!
 Nowadays since its cold, i've been hanging out in mom's shirt cause its nice and warm and cozy in there. :)
 I think i'm a teenager now. I don't like loud noises or stink and strange people and my vet said that I can't have seeds everyday cause its not good for me. :( And when i'm on mom and don't want to come down till i'm ready to go down! :( Cause i'm a spoiled birdy!
 she gives me love and lots of fruits and treats and stuff to play with and spoils me rotten :)
I also took a DNA test on Friday to see if i'm a boy birdy or a girl birdy. We'll know in 10 days. :) I think we'll get the results by February 14th, 2010 Valentine's Day.
GUESS WHAT EVERYONE, I'M A BOYEEEE!!!!! MY DNA TEST CAME BACK TODAY FEBRUARY 17, 2010!!! HEHEHEHHEHE :) HAPPY HAPPY, JOY JOY!!!!
Also, my mom reminds me to say my birdy prayers every night before I go to sleep. And it goes something like this: Dear God, I thank you for my mommy and daddy and all of my birdy friends here on the BCC and every where else. Please bless all my birdy friends and especially to those who just came out of surgery and are recooperating. Please bless those young and old birdies who are ill or are not feeling well, as you are the great physician in the sky and can heal all. I pray that you cover all us birdies with your shield of armor to protect us from any disease or illness or harm that may come our way. I thank you from the bottom of my little birdy heart, Amen. :)
 I think i'm in puberty my hormonies are running a muck! I don't like daddy when i'm on mommy and I try to bite him and I lunge!! I dunno why? PUBERTY !!!!.

Hi Pookie!
How are u sweetie? I didn't do my blogging yesterday, mom & I were involved in a bizarre, freak accident early yesterday afternoon! I was unscathed, but mom wasn't as lucky...she's fine now, but very sore!
When mom is holding me, I like her to kiss my belly! She kissed me on my birdie nose, then I told her KISS BAAALLY! At the same time she raised me up, I lifted my left leg, & somehow, my front 2 toes slipped into mom's right nostril & GOT STUCK! Of course I'm past due for a nail trim & my nails are extra long & very sharp! I was struggling to get my toes free & mom was howling in pain! Thinking it was a game, I quit struggling & started squealing! Mom gently grabbed my foot & turned her head & my toes came out!
My poor mom was gushing blood! She grabbed paper towels to try to control the bleeding, got me to step up onto her cane, squirted my foot, put me in my cage, & took off for the emergency room! To make matters worse, they couldn't help laughing when mom told them how the injury occurred! That was a story that they NEVER heard before! Mom spent 3 hrs at the emergency room & had to have her nostril cauterized! Mom is fine, but her nose is very sore! I don't think that I'll be getting belly kisses anytime soon!

Our First Game is Thursday 5/16 @ 3 pm
Crackerjack Conures!!!!!
Listen up! Our first game will be Thursday against the Wonder Wings team! It should be a great game and we're playing against my frother Scion! hehehe! The first pitch goes at 3 pm EST. If you can't be there during the game, try to fly over to the stadium either earlier or later to see what is going on there. This year participation is everything and it will be checked by the officials! I sent out the season calendar with all our games on it yesterday in an email. Let me know if you didn't receive it!
I have two chores for the team!
1. Please blog me your hatch day - so we can be sure to give your the hatch day wishes from the team on your special day.
2. Please fly around and say hi to each CJC team member. We do have some new team members this year and we need to make them welcome! The team roster is on my profile page with everybirds' page number.
Tomorrow is Opening Day - the events begin at 2:30 EST but the first pitch is at 3 pm EST and the White Hawks are playing the Pois. It will be a great game if you have a chance to fly by! See you there! And see you at our first game on Thursday afternoon!

To our BC family, I sincerely thank u for all the sympathy & condolences we received at this difficult time. It really touched our hearts. Chloe was a cherished family member. She was a Pitt-wire haired terrier mix with a gentle heart & soul. She fiercely loved mom & the 3 grandkids, & would have given her life for them. My sweet Chloe, I will always love u & forever miss u. RIP my sweet Angel. Chloe: 5/6/04 - 5/6/13.

Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6
Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much.
Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom GAil. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it.

How is your sweet mama doing? We hope the pain is easing some and that she is able to get some good sleep. Being tired always makes everything seem worse! We are continuing our prayers and we hope the whole situation gets resolved quickly. It has been far too long already and she needs some answers and some peace too!
Are you getting time in the sun cage? It's sunny here but it's been windy too so it's still not warm enough for me to sit outside. It's usually that way up here but since I get to sit by the window, I'm fine with it!

Who built your wonderful sun cage?
Mom isn't so much forgetful as not thinking to scedule another stop WHEN she has a vehicle--skinbro & skinsis use it often during business hours. With the skinbro who's b-day mom didn't do, he's 32 and WHAT to send him is an issue. Dad is no help. Mom gets lazy.
The 'stuff' is sitting right there on the table in a bag. It is becoming part of the scenery.
So sorry to hear mom is feeling so sore. Is dad feeling any better so he can help mom?

ANNUAL MILONGA DERBY
Yes, my fellow race lovers, it is that time again. The annual Milonga Derby is coming up this weekend.
Date: Saturday, May 11th
Time: 8PM EDT; 7PM CDT; 6PM MDT; 5PM PDT; 2PM ADT
Place: Milonga Page #165848
The big race is coming up, and I know you are all eggcited to see who will win this year. We have a whole new stable of horsies and some new jockeys and some returning ones. So make sure to place your bets with our paramutuel clerk, RaneBeau, and get ready for some real thrills as Chyna calls the race again this year.
After the race is over, we will announce the winners of the Annual Hat Contest with 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners in the mens, ladies and couples categories. We can tell you it is too close to call in each category at this point, so be sure to show up to see who pulls off the awards.
And you know Lizzie will be presenting her usual race day fare and the TPB&G will be mixing up mint juleps by the bucketful. For our younger birdies there is lemonade and all sorts of sodas, so we have something for everybirdy.
And finally we will finish the evening listening and dancing to the musical offerings of Sam and the Scruffy Birds Band. As usual Sam has a repertoire picked out just for this event, so I know we will all have a wonderful time.

I am doing much better, I will still need to visit the vet yet this week. Mom is trying to figure out when she can have the car to take me.
Mom stayed with g'pa for 4 days, 3 nights. I missed her. She was glad to hear I was doing ok. She has not yet gotten to the post office.

To all my dear friends, I won't be on the BC the next few days, other than to give Luigi his BOTM vote. Mom's heart is very heavy with grief. Our dog Chloe crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning around 10am. Chloe was a wonderful dog & she & mom loved each other very much. She will be greatly missed. Chloe was diagnosed with lung cancer a month ago. Today, May 6th, was her 9th birthday.

Hi Pookie
How are u sweetie? Not much happening here today! Mom was busy doing things so I thought I'd follow her around & help her! My plan worked beautifully...she scooped me up & took me outside to drive my car! It looks like I'll get to go outside everyday this week! The weather guessers are calling for thunderstorms Saturday, but it's looking pretty good until then! I love to take a shower, but for some reason I freak out when I get rained on!

and Angel Sallykins! My Mom said it was sooo nice talking to you! And we just loved hearing you too! We can't thank you and your sweet Mom for all the prayers you are sending my way,we sooo appreciate it more than you know! We are all praying for your wonderful Mom to get some relief from all that pain she's in and doesn't deserve to be in! My Mom and I are praying that she can get some peaceful sleep without any pain!
I know just how hard it is to try and keep quiet when our Mom's want to sleep in but like you said the minute the sun comes in our windows we just have to squawk for joy!Please try and keep your sweet Mom warm and comfortable! We love you all soooo much!

We hope you're doing well, It is good to hear from you. Mom loved the Vietnamese dinner last night, they had pho, which is a hot soup with lots of stuff to put in it, and a great liquid desert, with lots of grapes in it. It was so nice to see everyone before Nghi's parents leave for New Jersey. They are deciding where to live, here in Pittsburgh or in New Jersey when they settle in. They will open a bakery wherever they decide.
Mom is going to a local nursery to buy a few plants today, and get some things in the ground. She's been antsy about getting it done for a few days. We will get time outside, too, since it's so pretty and sunny out. Hope you have some time outside, or at least in a sunny window today. Hello Pookie~
How are you doing today? It's very pretty here still and I can't believe all the sunshine I am getting to enjoy.
Mom is going to run over to the library and the market soon but she's only going to the market across the street so she won't be gone long. The library is only 3 blocks up the street. I love having it so close so that when I'm done with my picture books mom can get over there and get me more! I truly do love storytime!
Mom and the kids want to go see Iron Man 3 but I don't know when they are going. Everyone has to go somewhere today so they might go tomorrow morning.
I hope everything is just wonderful at your place today! I hope your mom is doing well too. Please let her know we are thinking of her!

Hi Pookie & Angel Sally!
Thank you for stopping by to congratulate me when I was Bird of the Day! I had a lovely time in the castle with beautiful Chyna.
I'm still nervous in my new home, but I am adjusting. Momma needs to work on me with my step ups, I'm not very good with them. I like shoulders, but no one seems to want me to go up there yet. I bit mom three times yesterday. I was sitting by her chest and she was getting up to get something, but she scared me and a bit her neck. Then when she tried to get my beaky off I bit her finger and the back of her head. I didn't bite her that hard, but I did make her bleed a little bit. She has a nice mark and bruise on her neck, but she's okay. She said she's not mad at me. I really like destroying stuff (as expected)! I've almost destroyed a whole toy in my cage, and I've also destroyed many finger traps, lolly pop sticks, and a ball. hehe! Mommy made birdie for me (And I guess those other birds that I'm not allowed to play with). It has red, orange and yellow bell peppers, strawberries, almonds, and flax seed in it. I really like bread, so it's a good way for me to eat that other stuff! I also talk! I can say Hi Jester, Hi, Jester, I love you, and mommy thinks she heard me say pretty bird. I also laugh, bark, and blow kisses! I have two voices, a really deep one that a mumble stuff with, and a really adorable one that I say most of my words with. Mom says she'll have to get a video of me talking, it's so sweet!

Just only one more day before your Momma gets to see the doctor and we are all praying that she can get some answers and relief then and will not be made to wait! Spotlight on Caring-TAZ part 5
Hi birdies, SKY here with the 5th part of our interview with the PROCTOR flock. I wish to thank TAZ and his Mom Gail for sharing with us. SKY; please, continue to tell us about your wonderful flock members. JEWEL was the next to join the flock, Burt saw her in one of the local bird stores and as I said before he is a sucker for birdies needing a home so Burt paid for her and home she came. He thought that maybe she would help mom get over TJ. She was originally purchased from the store as a present for a man's wife but was returned after she decided she didn't like the woman and bit her. Guess what, she is my girl now...see what taking a little time can do.
CALABAR was a Mitred conure and was Jewel’s best friend. Their cages were close to each other and they would be visiting and playing together all day long. Calabar was one of the bird store employee’s bird but they also had an Umbrella cockatoo that attacked her and left a mark on her beak so they wanted a safer environment for her so we took her in. Before she came to live with her previous owner her life was not so good, she was exposed to a lot of bad things like cigarette smoke, marijuana smoke etc. she did not get a good diet their either…taco chips etc. She lived in a party house that was not a proper place for a parrot. She was with us for 10 years and one day we came home and found her on the bottom of her cage. She had passed away while we were gone. We had a necropsy done and it was found that she had a hole in her proventicular and some other issues probably caused by her diet and exposure to bad air. I miss her a lot as she was a very sweet girl who loved to ride on shoulders and loved car rides.
Scooby Doo joined us after we used to visit another bird store here and we saw him there a few times but then he got sold to a lady who ended up returning him as she said she was allergic to him. We used to visit him at the store until one day Scooby was out and sitting on a little girls shoulder and he decided he would fly over to visit me and he sat on my shoulder for the rest of the time I was there so they decided to buy him and a new cage and home he came. Burt calls him the Universal Parrot...he loves everyone and never bites. He is a joy to take to schools as he loves the kids there.

Spotlight on CARING-Taz part 4
HELLO all, SKY BOY here with the continuing interview with our good friends TAZ, The PROCTOR FLOCK and Mom Gail SKY; Tell me about the birds in your flock? Are any rescues?
MOM GAIL; TWEETY our first fid passed away on New Year's Day 2005, she was 11 years old. She was a very sweet girl and she is missed.
TAZ is the only planned fid in our flock Taz, we found him at a breeders about 180 miles away. We decided on a citron cockatoo after doing a lot of research on them. He was only a couple of months old when we first saw him and of course we fell in love with him. He stayed there until he was 6 months and then he joined our flock. He is a joy but he is also a challenge. He used to be strictly a mama’s boy but around 10 years ago he decided that in the mornings he is a papa’s boy but in the evening he loves me. If I am in the room as well as Burt then his mission is to get rid of me. He is a planner; he plans and figures out the best way to get me. I have been bitten quite badly a few times and Burt was almost ready to remove him from the flock but I would never let that happen. Burt would never really do that but in the moment that he saw me bitten he was just very upset. We have a system figured out so that we are not in the bird room together when Taz is out. He is such an intelligent fellow; it is amazing to watch him. He loves wood and will go through a toy in less than a day so we need to have lots and lots of wood around for him.
TJ was next to join, Burt saw him in the local pet store sitting in a small cage looking very sad…Burt is a sucker for a sad face so he bought him and surprised me. I took him to our vet and had all the tests done as I had a bad feeling about him. He was with us for a short nine months. One day after his quarantine was over I noticed that he had some discharge coming from one of his nares so off to the vet we went. The vet did a culture and came back and the result was Pseudomonas so he gave me the medicine to treat him. TJ was none too fond of being toweled for his medicine but over all he did great. I had to flush his nares as well. He appeared to be over it and was doing well. About a month later I noticed discharge coming from the same nare again. Off to the vet and more tests were taken and this time the vet came back with a diagnoses of Aspergillus so more medicine for TJ to take. I followed the vet's instructions but started to think that things were not right so I called to talk to the vet and could not get a hold of him but the tech said to continue the meds as they all needed to be taken to be effective. I gave TJ his next dose but shortly after he was convulsing on the bottom of his cage so I called Burt and we took him to the emergency vet and unfortunately TJ did not make it. They tried to save him but it was not to be. I felt very guilty about that and blamed myself for his death, I still do.

Let us know how you like mom's glasses. I love grooming my mom's glasses, but the boys pay no attention to them. Today mom did a tour for kids from Potter County, so they must have left home around 6:30 to be at the museum by 10. It's really far away. They loved the dinosaurs, and even the teacher took a ton of pictures. It was their first visit to the Carnegie museum! Then mom stopped to pick up stuff for the Italian dinner tomorrow evening for Nghi's parents. They canceled today because they had to fill out some paperwork. Hope you are having a great day! Wow, I love your outdoor cage! Just a quick hello today, as it's after 5 and mom is just getting in. She trained this morning, then took her car to the dealer for an inspection. That inspection trip lasted over 3 1/2 hours, and she's pretty upset right now. It's a newish car, less than 5000 miles, should have taken, at her estimation, about an hour and a half for an oil change, inspection, and tire rotation. Anyway, we need our attention, so this note is brief. Tomorrow, we may do better. Hope you are having a great day. Mom has a gift for you waiting for her to get it to the post office. SILLY MOM. Its been there for weeks already.
Last week she was dealing with skinsis appointments and ME. Found out I'm a girl, hehehehe. Found out due to egg trouble and mom is still concerned.

Well, it's official! Mommy's adoption application was accepted, and we are picking up Jester at 5:30. I promise to have mommy post his history when she gets home with him, but right now she has to go finish a painting for his foster dad. Look for his BC page later today. :)

I hope everything is going great at your nest. How is mom feeling? We are still praying for her and we hope she is doing okay. The doctor appointment is closer now and I sure hope he can figure something out for her!
Not much going on around here. I got to watch the gardeners plant more flowers out front yesterday. I don't know what they are yet because they are not blooming!! It will be exciting when they do!

The practice today is 2 pm Eastern Standard Time. I'm on Central so it will be 1 pm for me. Not sure for Hawaii!
The practices on Tues and Thurs. evenings will be at 8 pm Eastern so that is 7 pm Central for me!
It is very confusing! Hope your mom is feeling better!!! We are thinking of her in our prayers!
