 How my tiel and I got together was just a miracle. I had lost my first tiel in 98 and was hoping one would drop on my doorstep and in 2002 we were supposed to babysit him for his previous mommy and she passed away and her friend asked if we would keep him for our own. I was so happy! cause I needed a tiel to fill the hole my first tiel left. Of course my peach fronted conure arrived the day after he died but it was only a tiel that could fill up that hole. I love my conure because she makes me laugh and keeps me happy. I was even happier when Peepers came to fill that void, the void needed by another tiel. I became the owner when my mom asked me if I wanted to keep him and I was like heck ya, I love this tiel so much! I heard his previous mommy wanted to make sure he was in a loving home before she died and he sure is!. |

 i like to hang out on the playpen with my 4 conure brothers/sister- s and my pesky lutino brother and on my mommys shoulder.
 I dont like showers but mommy makes me go with her but hey at least im a clean boy!, when my brother Mario steals MY perch(Lutino Cockatiel),when i gotta be stuck in the cage when mommy goes to work cuz i like to hop onto the floor because she doesnt want me getting hurt,
 I love my mommy cuz she takes real good care of me and gives me lots of loves, she says im a special boy cuz i eat with my foot like a parrot she takes me on car rides, walks on my neat neon yellow harness and leash which i hate but wearing that leash means going out so i gotta be a good boy for mommy and wear it,she likes to snuggle with me and i with her. for my birthday she makes me a special birdie cake topped with seeds cuz i only get pellets for my meals cuz she thinks pellets are alot more healthier for me than seeds and they taste good too! the fruity ones are my fave! im just soo happy she adopted me cuz im happy that i found her and made her soo happy again! me being left at her house was a miracle to her and to me too cuz i have 5 brothers/sister- s for company when mommy goes to work.
 i like to eat with my foot like a parrot mommy thinks its soo COOL when i do that,I like to hold my foot up when i sing and she thinks thats soo CUTE!, mommy taught me to play dead, i just lay on my back in the palm of her hand real still she thinks thats soo Cute as well and hopping on the floor and going for a run catch me if u can cuz my little pink tiel legs can move!.

Panther tells us that Tweeety is concocting lots of new smoothie/energy drinks to keep us going with all the running, throwing, batting, etc. Saw that Dixie is having great adventures with Sugar and even took you and Kallie along.

Ah, Peepers! What a game it was today, huh? Us little birds, we did an amazing job of working together and earning the WIN! You had some nice hits and some great plays in the outfield.
Imagine you're missing your mom and dad really bad right about now. I know what it's like to have my family gone and I don't like it much. It's just too quiet without mom talking to me all the time. Hope your parronts are having a really good time and that your mom's getting some real relaxing moments in. She worked hard to get ready to go on this vacation. She needs the break!

We mentioned to Coach Kacey about your coming with us on our first game. Kiddo made a comment about the game ending at 1pm CA time and mom might get us to the game before 12:30, so we'll really just be getting there at the tail end, but at least we'll be there.
Good luck to Dixie on his game and we're sure that Kallie is an awesome cheerleader. We haven't made it to a game yet, but we did fly over to see what happened.
When the parronts bought our current birdhouse they had to flatten the back seats lay it down and let it stick out just a tiny bit out the hatchback. It was only a couple miles drive and could go thru residential streets. Dad got a used truck later so the couple times we vacationed at the grandparronts it was easier loading it into the pickup. We traveled in our carrier.
It was kinda amazing how much stuff dad always wanted to take when they were only going someplace for a couple of nights, but he did mostly also adhere to the one bag rule. He's the one who always did that to begin with.

Okay, even though we will arrive at our first game late since mom'll get home after the start time we'll take you along. It's gonna be a good game.
The few times the parronts went on a vacation a week or more they would only take one bag each, plus mom would have a bigish purse to hold on her lap, put at her feet that sorta thing. If they flew they didn't want to check their bags and wait, just wanted it to fit overhead or underneath and if in a car whatever fit in the trunk. Hope your mom makes a list and consults it to be sure nothing is forgotten.

Your dad is so sweet! Did you see the Keets won their first game? I'm so happy! We beat the Mighty Macaws!
We had a frost overnight, but mom covered all the new plants, so we were okay. This morning, she had 2 tours in the museum, one in dinosaurs, and one about animal adaptations. Then it was off to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions, and finally here to blog.
Congrats to the Pois for winning their first game. Today the Kevlar Keets (Willie's team) and on Thursday the CJCs (Falco's team) are playing. We are anxious to see how the new teams perform, too.

If we make it to our Tue game we will be late as mom gets off work at 12 (CA time) and the pregame starts at 11:30, still, we will endeavor to arrive though we shall be late and we can take you along unless somebirdie else can who will get there on time.
Not sure why non BC folk can't understand how special it is here. We'd think that anyone with pets would 'get it', but that's okay, we know and that's what matters. Even if you didn't blog a bird and they find out your concern, question, etc, they will not hesitate to fly over with their own story or advice or suggestion of help or just a wing to lean on.
Tell your parronts to enjoy their vacation. You fids will be fine with the fidsitter with all your instructions and food and toys. It'll be fun to catch up when you're back on BC. Maybe your mom'll see those fiddleheads on her vacation, heehee.

Sunshine runs into his outstretched wings. I've missed you like crazy. Hopefully things will slow down a bit for your Mom. Our prayers and thoughts are with Nana.
The new furball Collin is fitting in quite well. His fur is growing back and is looking more like a Yorkie. Mom said she will let his fur grow to the ground. That means a black mop running around the house.
I've been having some really good days. Mixed in with some bad days. My arthritis flairs up at times. So, Mom puts the heat lamp on my cage. The warmth feel good on the old bones.
Wish you could come down here and stay a while. We've got plenty of room in the birdie room. Don't think Mom would mind if you snuck in. I mean what's one more?

Your mom will get it all done, we have every confidence in her. Mom did get the shopping done yesterday, as well as the tours at the museum, but didn't plant anything, because it's way too cold. She just watered it all and put it on the porch next to the house so it didn't get frost on the flats. Maybe tomorrow will be warmer, or even this afternoon. Think the marathon bomber's kid is a girl. If the mom has any sense she'll have the girl use her (the mom's) last name instead of the dad so there will be less problems for the girl growing up.
Coach Kacey says she hopes to set up one more team practice before our first game. Since we don't play until the second week that means it'll be later this week. Saw the schedule, but no times are listed yet.
Thanks for the congrats and for voting for us too. We are so honored and thrilled to receive the award.
The fiddlehead is described as a fern so we imagine it'll smell like that. Very dark green so it might be a quite strong scent.

After sitting in the cool weather yesterday, mom will be at the museum today to do tours. She is hoping that she will get some shopping done afterwards, too. She still has to plant most of what she bought on Friday, but that can wait until she gets home, or even until tomorrow. We don't blame those in VA for being upset about the burial, but guess it was just a lose-lose situation since they didn't do a cremation.
Our mom nearly forgot about getting us to the practice as well, but fortunately turned on the puter at 4 and saw Panther's blog inquiring if we were going. Still, we have had lots of practice on our own prior to the 'tiel practice field opening so think we're in great shape.
Haven't heard about another official practice, so we'll just see you at the field whenever you can get there.
Hopefully Nana's surgery goes well and the recovery is swift.
All we can think of is that those fiddleheads must've been eaten when there wasn't much choice of food and had to eat what was available. Nowadays, it's probably considered a delicacy, heehee. Wonder if it smells good?
Great seeing you and the flock at the Milonga last night and we were sure surprised to win. Darn that mom had to leave before it was announced and then when she got back had to scroll thru the blogs to see that we won.

A couple of the southern CA birds told us yesterday that they only got rain for a few minutes so guess it's over for CA, not that we got any at all.
Mom saw that the marathon bomber got buried in a muslim cemetery in Virginia and now people in VA are complaining they weren't consulted. Think they should've cremated him and given the urn to his parronts.
We missed you at the team practice. Only a few of us made it, but it was fun and the picnic was yummy.
Your mom must be very busy making sure things are in place for the vacation. Ensuring you and the flock are set up and have the fidsitter with enough supplies and instructions is a must, but we know your mom will still worry, that's what moms do.
Hopefully nana's laser surgery goes smoothly, but 3 hours? Do they need to do something to her prior to the surgery, yikes! Perhaps they do the surgery and then have to monitor her for a while before she's released?
Wonder who was the first brave one to try fiddleheads initially? Who would've thought something so strange looking would be something people/animals would want to eat, heehee.

Tell mom to be sure to look in the herb section of the garden shop or nursery. They will be there, because they produce kind of small flowers, not the showy big geraniums we are used to. Mom has cranesbill geraniums growing and these have the same size flower, if they flower at all. Tell mom to look for pineapple sage, too, as those leaves smell heavenly, and it produces a long red flower very late in the summer. Wow, lots of you there in the midwest/east are getting rain. While Southern CA got some rain our area got nada, zilch, zero. Oh, well, at least there's been some rain. Hope you enjoyed the sun and warmth while it was there.
That's great that Dixie is doing well. Sounds like the combo of the meds and the food and the heated perch is all doing well to keep Dixie's foot from curling and hurting all the time.
We did hear about no place wants to bury that alleged bombers body. Wonder if it's against their belief to have a cremation? That way only an urn would be needed. That poor mortuary.
Think Coach Kacey listed info on the 'tiel practice page. We just fly over there after we visit her to see what's posted.
Mom saw an article recently about the fiddleheads and said it's mostly an east coast thing. Sure do look strange, but think we'd probably like it since it's supposed to be crunchy and that's the way we like our veggies.

Mom got the scented ones today at the nursery, she got one lemon and one attar of roses! They also had pine, strawberry, and a few others, but she had to watch how much she was buying. She rode with her sister, and they had to get both orders into one car!

How wonderful to be able to get outside and enjoy the sun and warmth while you can before you get rain again. Still no rain for our area. Yikes! Both you and Dixie got tails pooped on? At least a tail cleaning isn't so bad as getting it off the crest. (How is Dixie doing these days?)
We assume that the rain that southern CA got helped with the containing of the fires. In our area we don't hear the updates since it's so far away. If it was near us the coverage would be more ongoing, but that's how it is with all news stories.
Have to stopped by the 'tiel practice field yet? We fly in whenever we visit Coach Kacey since just have to click on the pic in her gallery to go there. You know that Panther set up a practice field near the KB so we 'tiels can see players from other teams in action.

Okay we'll wait for the paint details. Mom doesn't have time right now, anyway, with the museum and center being so busy. the scented geraniums are usually sold in the herb section of the nursery, not the geranium section. Their leaves are different, mostly curly, and if you touch them, you can smell what kind they are. Some have rose, apricot, orange, lemon, apple scents, for instance. I know your mom and Nana would love them! Mom likes smelly stuff in the garden, she even buys nicotiana for its scent at night. Sounds like you and the flock enjoyed your outside time though it appears you didn't want another shower. Glad to hear you haven't been pooped on lately.
Think parts of Southern CA got rain so it must be helping the firefighters get a handle on the wildfires. No rain to speak of here, but it is cooler and less sunny. Okay with us as last week was a tad too warm for spring anyway.
Pearl is gonna keep our bats and equipment in tiptop shape, but if we need replacements he'll use the bazebol credit card Coach Kacey entrusted him with to get any needed replacements during the season.

What kind of paint did they use for the cage? Falco's cage is powdered, and it's wearing off in the corners and on the grate. Mom paid top dollar for it, so wants to repair rather than replace it.
Mom didn't plant anything yesterday! She spent a couple of hours cleaning the yard and pulling ivy off the back of the house, as well as cutting down maple saplings back there. Then she went to the nursery, but it was crowded and she didn't particularly want to deal with that. She and her sister are going to a nursery they both love on Wed. after she's done at the center. This one has unusual varieties, lots of things to choose from, and some of mom's favorites, like scented geraniums. She's looking forward to spending her $$ there. They will have some hanging baskets better than the ones she saw yesterday, too. Hope you are having a good day. Good to get Bella's birdhouse all spiffed up and everything clean for adding it next to the other birdhouses.
Did we tell you we had a shower the other day as mom thought it was warm all week and we might like it? Silver eventually opened his wings, but Pearl only did so very briefly.
Cooler here, but a bit windy. We know southern CA got a cool down so that will help in putting those fires out.
Okay, back to practice since opening day is only a week away. We will miss the festivities since our mom won't be home from work.

Mom says if the nice weather stays awhile, we'll get our cages power washed soon. THat will be nice, as I'm a good food flinger, and the inside bars are hard for mom to reach sometimes.
Mom loved the Vietnamese dinner last night, they had pho, which is a hot soup with lots of stuff to put in it, and a great liquid desert, with lots of grapes in it. It was so nice to see everyone before Nghi's parents leave for New Jersey. They are deciding where to live, here in Pittsburgh or in New Jersey when they settle in. They will open a bakery wherever they decide.
Mom is going to a local nursery to buy a few plants today, and get some things in the ground. She's been antsy about getting it done for a few days. We will get time outside, too, since it's so pretty and sunny out. Hope you have some time outside, or at least in a sunny window today. Hi, Peepers
Okay, that's a lot of shifting around of things to make room for Bella. Her birdhouse must be big to have to go all around like that, but good it's on wheels. Nothing better than a birdhouse on wheels. Was such a pain with our old one not being mobile and it two pieces. Had to move the stand then the actual birdhouse part and put together again.
The fires are mostly down in southern CA. A couple in our general vicinity, but not near enough for us to see or smell any smoke. Hope the fires are contained quickly. The parronts have never been near a fire and hope they never do.
The 'tiel practice field is awesome. Great place to really feel how far one must throw and how tight to run thru the bases to get to 'em quickly.

Hey Peepers
Cable companies, doctors, lots of folks think your time isn't as valuable as theirs is! It's a real shame. Well, mom is looking forward to her Vietnamese dinner tonight, but doesn't know what they will serve yet. Yesterday when she got her nails done, Nghi told her that mom was shopping at the Asian stores in the Strip district. If your mom comes here, she'll have to see the strip, it's a great place to shop! There are lots of exotic food stores there, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Oriental, etc. as well as places that specialize in meats, pastries, etc. Mom has a gift card for the fish place and hasn't had time to go spend it yet! Hi, Peepers
Hopefully all the bird houses fit without being too cramped. Wouldn't want birds poking their beaks to a neighbor and possiblity causing any mischief for the fidsitter.
Very warm again yesterday and hope it cools down a bit today. Parronts are going to the flea market then do some grocery shopping. Some areas of CA are having wildfires. The ones in Southern CA are worrisome. There was a grass fire closer to us, but not so close for us to see or smell the smoke.
Terrible that there was only the one cashier whenever one goes to pay a bill. The parronts always go to the nearby office to pay the car ins and sometimes only one person there. Guess handing out the movie coupons acknowledged they had a line out the door, but why didn't someone else come to help? Certainly would think they had another person or two to just get the line whittled down.
Too hot to practice today. We'll just relax and have a cold root beer instead, heehee.

Mom only had one tour this morning, so she was able to get her nails done and get a little shopping in before coming home. Mom will try to get a few things planted today, too. Sounds like shutting all the rooms off eggcept the bird room would work fine. It might not be that cold by then, right?
That's too bad that Mario and Celine still consider you an outsider and treat you that way. Still, you must persevere and deal with it as best you can.
Still warm here, but again, not as bad as Southern CA with their over 90s and the hot wind and the fires.

You poor boy! Maybe mom should get you a sleep cage all your own. How about sleeping in Candida's place? She's young, it should be easy, heehee.
Mom had 2 tours with second grade this morning, yikes! It was like herding cats, which I know you've heard before, but these little ones were worse than any group mom has ever had! They had the attention span of gnats, and were buzzing about like them too. Maybe she's just working too much.
Last night, all the dinner guests loved the lasagna and meat assortment, and ate all the salad, too! One of them brought a Vietnamese desert, with durian, lychee, red beans, jackfruit, and some other stuff in coconut milk. It was a great ending to a terrific meal. We weren't allowed out while they ate, though. Hope you are having a good day, it's gorgeous here, sunny and warm! Hi, Peepers
There were a few times it got cold in April after the furnace got turned off, but mom said we have blankets and jackets so not to bother relighting it. Probably stays colder longer where you are so don't want to risk it. Still, if the parronts don't mind bundling up so long as the bird room is warm then that might work. Mom's used the baking routine to warm up the house quite a lot. Simmering a pot of soup works too. 'Sides if it's cold then the warm stuff is more than welcome to eat.
Thought that the pooping on Peepers business was dealt with, but guess more measures need to be taken. We would not appreciate having to get bathed that often to get poop off, but we know it must be done.
Time to play. Pearl passes out bats and helmets. Zippy has the balls and Peepers, Moggie, Panther and the rest have their mitts on and ready to warm up.

You are gonna have to find a higher perch, buddy! Not much new here, mom is doing a lasagna dinner for Nghi's family tonight, so we're keeping this short. She already made the braciole(seasoned, rolled steaks) and sausage, and the little meatballs are done and ready to go. So, just the sauce, noodles, and assembly/baking are left. She has to clean the house before they come too, you know: feathers, fur, food on every surface! Tomorrow is tour day, so we'll see you tomorrow afternoon. Hope your day is fantastic! Sure wish we could merge our weather with yours. Since it's getting warmer and there's been not much rain there are fire warnings out for many of the hill areas. The 80 temps aren't bad when it's windy and not humid. Our dad has a tendency to turn our furnace off around April since it's usually warm by then and if not then just have more blankets or bake something.
Moggie's joined Panther with the practice and Zippy too so we have lots of players here. The 'tiels get their mitts and warm up by throwing and catching.
