How my tiel and I got together was just a miracle. I had lost my first tiel in 98 and was hoping one would drop on my doorstep and in 2002 we were supposed to babysit him for his previous mommy and she passed away and her friend asked if we would keep him for our own. I was so happy! cause I needed a tiel to fill the hole my first tiel left. Of course my peach fronted conure arrived the day after he died but it was only a tiel that could fill up that hole. I love my conure because she makes me laugh and keeps me happy. I was even happier when Peepers came to fill that void, the void needed by another tiel. I became the owner when my mom asked me if I wanted to keep him and I was like heck ya, I love this tiel so much! I heard his previous mommy wanted to make sure he was in a loving home before she died and he sure is!.

Cinnamon Mutation Cockatiel

nutraberries,pa- sta,animal crackers,apple peels,

i like to hang out on the playpen with my 4 conure brothers/sister- s and my pesky lutino brother and on my mommys shoulder.

I dont like showers but mommy makes me go with her but hey at least im a clean boy!, when my brother Mario steals MY perch(Lutino Cockatiel),when i gotta be stuck in the cage when mommy goes to work cuz i like to hop onto the floor because she doesnt want me getting hurt,

I love my mommy cuz she takes real good care of me and gives me lots of loves, she says im a special boy cuz i eat with my foot like a parrot she takes me on car rides, walks on my neat neon yellow harness and leash which i hate but wearing that leash means going out so i gotta be a good boy for mommy and wear it,she likes to snuggle with me and i with her. for my birthday she makes me a special birdie cake topped with seeds cuz i only get pellets for my meals cuz she thinks pellets are alot more healthier for me than seeds and they taste good too! the fruity ones are my fave! im just soo happy she adopted me cuz im happy that i found her and made her soo happy again! me being left at her house was a miracle to her and to me too cuz i have 5 brothers/sister- s for company when mommy goes to work.

i like to eat with my foot like a parrot mommy thinks its soo COOL when i do that,I like to hold my foot up when i sing and she thinks thats soo CUTE!, mommy taught me to play dead, i just lay on my back in the palm of her hand real still she thinks thats soo Cute as well and hopping on the floor and going for a run catch me if u can cuz my little pink tiel legs can move!.

"where there is floor tiel will travel, watch your step cuz im goin for a run!".

  Hi, Peepers
That is good the head contractor listened to Nana and will ensure those things get done. Really to his benefit also to make her happy since if do a good job she'll tell her friends and relatives and give a recommendation and that is worth so much more than any advertizing. No one should be considered a pest for wanting to get their money's worth or just getting what they asked for before even hiring someone.

Do agree that many cosmetic procedures have a medical necessity behind it. Whether to aid breathing, eating, talking more of the cost should be covered by ins. Think when Nana does decide to get hearing aids can just not wear 'em at home so much as it probably more useful when talking to others.

Yeah, mom doesn't mind carrots raw but cooked really doesn't care for 'em. Would eat the peas and carrots in stuff but never liked 'em. The snow peas are okay though and that is something we love too.

Didn't have any BC issues and hope it doesn't get any worse. Very odd when end up on another bird page. Never had that happen to us.

The three 'tiels all open their wings up wide for a big group 'tiel wing hug and hold on tight for a long time savoring their friendship and love humming and swaying the entire time.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Boo Boo and I got to go outside today for the first time this year.Boo Boo got to sit on the porch for about 45 minutes.. Dad sat there with her for about 1/2 until mom brought me out in my harness and then dad went inside. even though it was Boo Boos old cage it scared her at first but she adjusted very quickly and even took 2 baths. usually i am not that interested but since this was the first time for the year i was quite excited and very interested in watching all the birds flying around in the yard. since dad went inside he decided to wash a frying pan mom had soaking in the sink. suddenly we all heard this yelling because dad had dropped the frying pan on his foot and smashed his already broken toes so mom had to cut short my outside time today but 15 minutes is better than none at all and i am looking forward to the next time i get to go out.

  HI MY DEAR SWEET PEEPERS!!!
We certainly had so much fun at the Space Farm in New Jersey on Monday..The animals they have there are so neat..Monkeys were funny and the deer with their fawns..Some of the fawns were so tiny...They had so many different farm animals, cows, chickens, pigs, ducks, horses, goats...They even left us have a ride on the wagons with the bales of hay as our seats...The horse and pony rides were just as much fun....Even the food at the farm house that they gave us to eat was delicious...The parronts stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home and we had a yummy ice cream sundae...When it was time for our dinner nobody was really that hungry so Mom said she make us sandwiches if we wanted something to eat later..Dad put up the net for volleyball in the yard and we played so many games...Of course you guys beat the girls all but one game..We all ended up so tired sitting there watching the movie on TV and everyone of us fell a sleep so Mom covered us and left us all right there...
Today we had a great breakfast again..Mom made us all egg mcmuffins with sausage or canadian bacon, hot chocolate & juice..Then it was off to New Jersey again to the Minor League Baseball Game...It was so much fun especially when they had the clowns come out on the field at the 7th inning
stretch..We ate so much food hot dogs, popcorn, candy cotton and had snow cones..Again when Mom was going to make dinner none of us were ready to eat so she said we can have something later..All of us went for a walk down to the lake where they have the basketball courts and shot some baskets..You my dear Peepers are pretty good at making baskets...So I suggest tonight we all should climb in our condos before we get to sleepy ...Tomorrow is another day and I have a lot planned again...Pecked a V4U...Sure hope your are enjoying your time here with me and of course the rest of the flock...With many birdie wing hugs & beak kisses to you..Much love always...Your forever girlfriend, Baby Girl :o)

  HI Peepers
My mom collects a pension but she also gets social security. Does Nana?
Yesterday mom planted everything else that was left. She thought she was done, but noticed that the guys who did the lawn weed whacked the Chinese Lanterns that she planted. She called Jeff to complain and he said he had more, and would bring them. Well, he brought three more plants, as well as snow peas, potatoes, tomatoes, apple mint, mustard greens, and cilantro! He and mom planted all that, and by last evening her neck and back were aching. It was a good time to plant, though, when there was help! Jeff also cleared out some of the day lilies so mom could plant the Asiatic lilies she got for Mother's day.
Today mom has a lunch with the pool ladies. I guess they'll all be talking about the pool opening on Saturday. She also has a bunch of errands, like getting more seed and suet which she didn't do yesterday, getting more fruits and veggies for us, and getting a mani/pedi if possible. Bree is coming on Friday to do our birdicures, so that's arranged.
Seems like summer is on the way! I hope you are having a great day. It's beautiful here this morning, so we're hoping it stays this way all day long. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Hopefully the head contractor will get the workers to do the job that they were hired for fixing/repairing all the things Nana wants done.

Think it took dad 3 or 5 years before he actually decided to get the hearing aids. Really not sure why ins won't pay more for 'em.

Since mom never really liked carrots or peas switching to a southwestern blend in the chicken pot pie made sense. If one likes hot peppers can always add a few of those too. Always good to have food on hand when too late or tired to want to cook anything.

  Hi Peepers
the nursery delivered the bottle brush shrub today . dad spent all day Saturday and this morning digging the hole. he had to use a pick ax and a root loper. it would have taken mom a week to dig the hole. after dad put the shrub in the ground he spent the rest of the afternoon mixing the soil with social mulch and peat moss and carefully tamping it into the ground. the shrub doesn't look like much now but eventually will.

  HI Peepers
Why doesn't Nana have Medicare? I thought everyone over 65 had it. Does she collect social security? If so, have her check the receipt and see if she's paying for Medicare. Call the office, they can help her figure it out. Not sure that would help with the hearing aids, but it's at least some protection.
Peppy says thanks for the vote.
Mom's tours yesterday were great, she enjoyed each one of them. She had a question on the last one that she didn't answer to the woman's satisfaction, and she really tried to answer it to the best of her ability. The question was very unclear, though, so maybe that was the problem.
We had a lovely time with mom after she got home, though. We all got our cuddles and scritches from her, and she even sang and danced with us.
Those baby woodpeckers that were rescued on Saturday are doing well.
Today mom cleaned the bunny room at the center. She also prepared 3 more cages for incoming patients in the treatment room. It seems that as soon as some bunnies leave, there are others to take their places. Mom also fed the mom possum, the falcon, and the mallard in the recovery room, as well as doing 3 laundry tubs full of dishes. She was going to run out for bird seed but she's tired, so may do it tomorrow instead. It seems the wild birds around here are eating up the suet and seed as soon as it gets put outside!
I hope you're having a great day, getting lots of sunshine and some cuddles and scritches, too. Hugs, Willie

Hopefully Nana gets all those holes filled in and any other tasks she wanted done by the painters. Would assume if talk to 'em in person might listen better. She shouldn't pay 'em if they don't do the work correctly as she specify.

Know dad changes the batteries on the hearing aids a lot but don't recall him having to buy any that much so guess he got a good supply from the hearing aid guy. Just has to remember to turn 'em off at night when takes 'em out so not using 'em up by accident.

Staying cool here and got a tad windy. Still sunny but dad heard it'll warm up again but not as high as last time.

Homemade chicken pot pie is always yummy. Mom hasn't made that in a while. Might have to do that now, heehee.

  HI Peepers
Doesn't Medicare pay for the hearing aids? They should, shouldn't they? If Nana needs them, she should have them, and the discomfort will go away with time.
Mom did 3 tours at the wildlife center yesterday, and Meaghan, one of the educators, also did 3, so there were about 60 visitors. Mom's tours were great, until the last one, when it was pouring rain. She was still able to show everyone the nurseries, the animals in the habitat building, the foxes and raptors who live outside, and the menagerie. On the last tour, she left out the turtles, because it was muddy to get back to where their summer home is. People seemed glad to see the place, and learn what is done there for the wildlife. When mom got there, there had been 1082 intakes for the year, but while she was doing tours, another bunch of animals were being brought in, so she thinks by the time she left, there were probably 1100 intakes for this year.
Jeff lent some saws to them yesterday so they could cut some baby woodpeckers out of a log. Someone had chopped down a tree without checking for wildlife, and when they realized there were babies in one of the tree cavities, they called the center and brought in the log that contained them. The mother wouldn't go near them once they were on the ground, so the center is their best chance. When mom got there, she showed the people on her tours the log they came in, and was able to encourage people not to tear down or wall up any places where wild babies may be hidden.
Today mom is doing her final weekend tours before the summer. The pool opens next Saturday, so she will not sign up to do weekends at the museum until after Labor Day. She's doing 3 dinosaur tours today, so it's a great way to finish her weekends.
I hope today is bright and sunny for you. It's still cloudy here, and supposed to rain later today AGAIN. May you get lots of cuddles and scritches today, as well as your favorite treats. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
It was a tad irksome for the pest company to send the guy out who wasn't trained on anything but termites after dad told them over the phone what the problem was. Would've made more sense to send an all around worker since pest wasn't totally identified. Would never want big ants inside the house.

Our dad likes cheese. He's just cutting down on fats in his diet and is a tad lactose intolerant so avoids as much milk based foods as he can. Tasted good anyway with just a smidgeon of cheese and lots of veggies.

It took our dad years to finally get those hearing aids. The ins doesn't cover that much of the cost and batteries can get costly. Whenever he's seen the hearing aid guy is given batteries so that helps.

Hopefully Verizon can assist and get Nana her wireless phones working again. Just inconvenient for one who has difficulty getting and down and walking to answer the phone in another room.

Got some rain here. Not sure how much but there were quite a few puddles on her way home. Temps staying down.

hopefully verizon can get Nanas phone problems resolved. those hearing aids are super expensive and sorry to hear Nana will have to put them on hold for awhile.

for some reason mom was feeling a false sense of security from the marauding deer. they came by last night and browsed on every new plant mom planted. they didn't touch anything else. they even ate the flowers off of the geraniums which they have never touched before. it is kind of funny since none of the neighbors ever plant anything so the deer don't even bother going into their property. our house is like a smorgasbord of gourmet delights for them.

  HI Peepers
WE got tired just reading your blog! Your mom was sooo busy yesterday. Is Verizon going to help check on those phones? It's good that Nana got hearing aids if it helps her to hear better. Did your mom realize that Nana wasn't hearing so well? Was it an ongoing problem?
Mom planted a lot of what she bought yesterday, but there's still at least a flat to go. She had to stop because she was getting sore legs and back. I hope she can finish today, but it's raining right now. The weather guessers said it would only get to 58 today, so we'll see. The rain is supposed to end by noon, too. Mom is leading 3 tours at the wildlife center today.
If people dropped off goodies for the baby shower last month, they could sign up for a tour of the center. The education folks picked this weekend for all the tours, but they were short handed, so mom volunteered to do some. There are 5 tours today and 5 more tomorrow, so she's helping out today. People can tour where the education animals are, but not the rehab patients. Mom will walk them by the nurseries, though, and they can peek in but they have to stay in the hall.
Hopefully the rain will have ended by then, so mom can show everyone the silver foxes and the raptor mews. They lost Maxina, one of the red tailed hawks, this week, but there are still others out there. Martha is off display, too, as she is raising a foster baby. Still, there are a lot of animals to see.
I hope you are having a great day today, and getting some sunshine, cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Before we got the regular outside pest treatment the ants would normally only come inside the house during winter, eggspecially if raining a lot. So, between the drought and the treatments never see 'em inside, whew! The pest guy showed up but was only qualified to deal with termites so called and arranged for another worker to come out. Dad wasn't happy aince the first one was scheduled 1-3 (so had to stay home) and the second was scheduled 3-5 but mom was home by then so dad ran his errand and was back before the worker. It turned out to be some sorta bigish sized ant.

It is strange and just not right to be actually hot/stuffy enough in the middle of winter to use the a/c but we've done it. Happens in Jan usually and then often Feb and Mar will be cold again. Know it really confuses the plants. No rain yesterday since chance was slim for our area but hopefully get some today.

As soon as mom got home from work yesterday she began to chop and prep stuff to make the lasagna. Didn't make her own sauce and used minimal cheese since dad avoids cheese. Still tasted yummy as we got a strip of noodle. Making the individual portions is great so have a hot, homecooked meal on those busy days when get home late.

What a relief to at least get one phone working at Nana's. Hopefully will be able to get the wireless ones working again soon.

That is wonderful Nana will be getting the hearing aids and sounds like got a thorough testing of what hearing she does have. Will make a big difference not missing what is going on around here and hearing correctly when others talk to her.

Glad you got sunshine even if temps were cool. Cooler here since clouds moved in and windy. Dad said a few oranges fell.

The three 'tiels all open their wings wide for a big group 'tiel wing hug and hold on tight for a long time swaying and humming happily.

  Hi Peepers
mom and dad have been traveling now for 2 days to various garden centers to find a shrub to replace the blue spruce pine tree dad had cut down last fall. they went to a place about 25 miles south of the city and found a beautiful nursey that had beautiful plants and had perfect shrubs for mom and dad. problem was dad isn't able to dig a hold big enough for some of the big root balls and can't afford to have the nursey deliver and plant so the parents settled for a bottle brush buckeye shrub that is about 3 feet tall but should grow to about 15 feet which is "deer resistant", tolerates shade and wind and grows big fluffily white plumes. while mom was out with dad today the bank called and said moms power of attorney for g-ma has been approved so mom has to go to the bank tomorrow to sign papers so she can open a new checking account for g-ma and start paying her bills and keep track of what the money is being spent on.

HAPPY TGIF DAY

  HI Peepers
We're kind of hoping to get out later, too.
This morning mom was assigned to do the recovery room. It was the first time in months that she's been in there. The little box turtle with the nail polish on his shell is coming clean; mom could actually see natural scutes on parts of his shell. She scrubbed him for the normal 5 minutes, and put him back in his clean cage. Now that spring is here, there are some different animals in the recovery room. Beside the turtles, there are some injured animals; a female mallard, a little garter snake, an opossum, and a peregrine falcon. Mom needed help to get the falcon out of her cage so she could clean it, but she put her back inside on her own. The opossum has babies in her pouch, so mom was extra careful with her, too. The snake came in with some injuries, and is bandaged, but keeps knocking the bandages loose. The mallard is pretty stressed, but mom managed to clean her cage with her inside it the whole time.
After the center, mom went to a local nursery to pick up some plants. She got some hanging baskets for the porch, and she thinks she has enough to fill all the containers on the patio and in front. There's a woodpecker who is excavating out a tree stump that mom has been using as a plant stand in the front of the house for years. There must have been some tasty tidbits in there, he/she has nearly the whole stump gone. The top is still there, but mom doesn't think she's putting any plants on it this year.
It's a sunny, warm day, in the mid 70s, so should be perfect for planting everything later on, when our blogs are done. I hope you are having a great day, getting some good spring weather, and of course, lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
The pest guy will come later today so we'll see what he thinks it is doing the lil holes. Too small for any furry critter. Doing the treatment on regular basis outside is working to keep pesky ants from coming into the house.

We'll use the a/c anytime it gets hot outside as the house will get stuffy once the afternoon sun shines. Have had to use it in middle of winter when it was unseasonably warm but again, the thing with warmth in winter, fall or spring is that generally nights and mornings are cool so if need a/c it'll be in the afternoon. Glad your flock was able to get some fresh air and showers outside.

Oh, the weather thingy was accurate. Mom saw the weather last night and a temp drop is forecast as well as rain. We might not get much today but Sat should bring some though our area might not get a lot. That's okay, so long as other areas get it and get some in the reservoirs.

Hope your mom can schedule a techie to check the wires. She should stress that it is for an elderly woman (mostly) living alone and needs a working phone in case of emergency. Eggspecially since she's already suffered a fall and been injured.

There is always something that must be upkept when a homeowner. Just have to do sections at a time and never let anything get too bad if can avoid it.

Our mom is planning on making lasaga too! Was gonna do it last night but it was warm so since today should be cooler and she got all the ingredients think will do so when gets home from work.

The three 'tiels all open their wings wide for a big group 'tiel wing hug and hold on tight for a long time basking in their friendship and love humming and swaying the entire time.

That phone stuff sounds like a nightmare. Hope Verizon can help out with it. That's so frustrating!
Last night's dinner at the Village Inn was delicious. Mom had wedding soup (which isn't as good as what she makes, but it was okay), and their special, which was crab and shrimp stuffed pangasius. Her sis and brother in law enjoyed their Italian food, as well.
Today it's sunny and close to 70, so it's feeling more like spring. I hope your weather is as nice. Mom may get outside to do a few things, maybe even get the Chinese Lanterns planted today.
This morning mom had 2 tours in Dinosaurs with 4th grade classes. Have we ever mentioned that mom loves dinosaurs and 4th grade kids? (I know, countless times!) Today was such a fun day for mom at the museum, the kids were so sweet. She got interesting questions from them, too.
I hope your day is going well, and you are getting some well deserved attention, with lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Think seen mostly the smaller ants inside but some bigger ones outside but no fire ants. Certainly never gotten bit by any, yuck to the thought of that! Dad found some areas some lil critter was making holes in the dirt and assumes is ant or other unwanted so having the pest guy come and deal with it.

Staying warm here but not bad since not humid. Still, the a/c was on in the house so it never got stuffy. According to the weather thingy in dad's new car supposed to rain on Fri. We'll see how accurate that is and temps to drop back as well.

Gosh, hope can figure out what is wrong with Nana's phones. Maybe is the wires rather than the phones? Just seems strange that none of the phones work. If haven't had the phone company check it out or bring a phone that know works to try then will have more idea what might be wrong.

The walls inside the living room probably need repainting but doesn't look bad. The back bedrooms and bathroom have been redone awhile back.

  Hi Peepers
mom thinks maybe if Nana doesn't have surge protectors and the house grounded her phones might have gotten fried from an electrical storm. an electrician once told mom a lightening bolt can travel from over 30 miles away and do damage. mom doesn't know if this is true or not but has had many electrical things in the house fried before the house was grounded. that might not be the correct term as mom is not an electrician and only knows how to plug things into an outlet and not how to repair them. tell nana to buy lots of surge protectors and buy wireless phones from good quality companies. it might initially cost less to buy cheaper phones except you have to constantly replace them. maybe i am wrong so don't get mad. mom never said she was that bright.

We sure hope Nana is safe and that the phones are back to working today. It's hard on your mom when she can't talk to Nana, and make sure she's okay.
Today mom had 2 eighth grade tours in Ancient Egypt. She hasn't spent a lot of time this spring in that particular hall, so it was kind of a nice break from the dinosaurs and North American wildlife. I think she's back in dinosaurs tomorrow, though. These kids were pretty interested in the topic, and loved the touchable stuff, too.
Tonight mom is going to dinner with her sister and brother in law, and they are going on an Alaskan cruise tomorrow. She won't see them until next weekend when the pool opens. They are going to a nice restaurant nearby which specializes in Italian food, so they should all be able to find something good to eat.
It's still pretty chilly here. It rained this morning and is still cloudy. It's about 58 out there, too. I hope you are having a great day today, and getting lots of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Oh, yes, the spraying outside does help as does getting those ant hills taken care of. Didn't know about ants biting. Yuck! They must be bigger than ones we had here.

A lot of oranges get eaten by critters and some have beak holes so those get wasted but we always have plenty. Parronts would rather wild critters in their yard be on the healthy side and not sick and spreading illness from lack of nutrition.

<sigh!> got into the mid 80s yesterday. Not humid, so not as bad as it would've been. Parronts were in and out all day running errands and happy to have a/c in car and home. Sure wish our weathers could be melded.

Hopefully your mom can figure out why one cordless phone problem will make all of 'em not work. That is good skinbro is there at night but know your mom needs to be able to talk to her during the day to ensure all is well.

Ooooo, won a prize pic from NTT? Gotta fly over to Angel Gabbie's and pick out something. Still haven't posted Silver's derby winnings yet.

  Hi Peepers
i like your picture very much

our weather has been pretty cool and one morning last week we even had snow flurries. today wasn't too bad and warmed up to the mid 60's. we are getting lots of rain which is good for everything growing. haven't seen much deer activity around and hope we don't get baby fawns born in our garden again. they are super cute but learn to eat all the plants and flowers.

we had a tree service come and inject the base of all our big trees and shrubs with vitamins. 6 of our trees are big oaks and because of the oak blight they are coming back to inject them with antibiotics to prevent infestation. all of our giant rhodendrums on the side of the house died and it has been determined it is a fungus infection in the soil so they must all be dug out and the whole area defunguscided. its sad because they still have a green leaf here and there and maybe one or two blooms on each shrub.

love Cori

  HI Peepers
Thank you so much for the pictures! I have them in my gallery already, I love them.
It's still chilly here, only 59 at 1:30 today. It's still cloudy, too, so that's part of the reason. Mom had to pick up plants from the deck today. Apparently a squirrel got into one of the pots, upended it, and spilled dirt out of some of the others, too. She's had plants out there hardening off for a few days. She had them all in the kitchen the other night when we had the hard freeze warning, but put them out again yesterday.
On Sunday, mom, her daughter, and Anna went to dinner at a Thai restaurant. Anna surprised them both by picking up the tab! Mom thinks it made her happy to buy for everyone for a change. Mom still left the tip. The food was great, and everyone loved their meals. When mom got home, she made fudge for today's docent meeting and luncheon.
So after the meeting this morning, the docents had their spring pot luck lunch. This means that mom won't have to cook tonight, as she ate a lot for lunch. Mom's fudge is usually a big hit, and today was no exception. Not as many people stayed for lunch, though, so she had to bring some back home.
We're not doing anything special for the rest of the day, just kind of hanging out with mom. That suits us just fine, though. I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of cuddles and scritches, and maybe even some sunshine. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
The orange color on the bird certainly made him stand out and he sat on the hummingbird feeder for a lil while so mom could study him. The grand was over at the time so mom held her up so she could see the bird too.

That is good not to have seen more ants. They really need to stay outside! Sometimes there won't be any crumbs or anything and they still come searching. Fortunately we get pest treatment outside and that has kept all pesky ants away, whew!

Oh, yes, garden fresh fruit and veggies just can't be beat. So long as insects don't eat too much on 'em! An orange that is dry just not worth trying to eat.

Remaining nicely spring here. Do wish for more rain but at least temps haven't gone back to near summer heat again.

  HI Peepers
My goodness, your mom was sure busy! Hope Anthony finds something he likes and can afford. Seems like Nana must be feeling a bit better, if she could come visit for a little while. It was nice of Anthony to take mom and Nana out to lunch, too.
Wow, I won a jukebox and a prize pic? That's spectacular!
I would love the snow globe picture, please.
Mom keeps saying we had June in March, so now it's more like April here in May. Today started out with a frost warning overnight, but it's warmed up to 60 already. It's sunny out there, which helps a lot.
This morning mom went to the center early so she could take Falco to the vet. She was assigned the avian nursery with another person, so they both fed babies, and cleaned other cages in between. Mom got the whole side bank of cages done (about 12 occupied) during her shift, while feeding the 20 minute baby, the 30 and 45 minute babies, too. The other lady fed some of the 45 minute babies and fledglings, and the 60 minute ones. Of course, that means cleaning the incubators every time, as well.
When she got home, she took Falco to the vet for the last time! Dr. Pleban had to search under her new feathers for the booboo, and she said it's healed now. That's great news, no more collar, and Falco can finally take a bath. She's been waiting forever! Now mom can call Bree, too, to get all our pedicures done soon.
Falco was preening as soon as that thing came off! She told us it felt so good to get to those neck feathers and make sure they are all in good shape. Mom posted some new pics of her with those new fluffy feathers coming in.
I hope you are having a wonderful day, getting lots of sun and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Think that oranged headed songbird might be a finch. Mom saw a couple birds flying around and thinks they might be young ones learning to fly. They would fly back to the area dad knows there was a nest. Couldn't see what species they were. Hopefully those nasty ants skedaddle so the hummingbird feeder there can be put up.

The oranges here are best from Jan to Mar or thereabouts. When we get enough rain they are very juicy and mild. Oranges that are too acidic aren't fun to eat. Always iffy to buy a bag of fruit. Never know what some of 'em are like inside. Sometimes mom'll buy a bag of apples to make a crisp or pie and often they will be bruised.

Hopefully skinbro will be able to find a good place soon. Things are just too high priced for what they are.

We will so miss BC if it truly shuts down end of the year. So happy it has lasted longer than eggspected but don't want to lose all our friends either.

The crowded tour was 12:30, so might have been the time of day. It would have been better if they could have spread out, though.
Congratulations to all the winners from the Milonga Derby last night; Jenny, Cookie, and Chyna for their first place wins, especially, but also Dixie and Raffikki for place and show in the race. It was a wonderful evening, great party! Thanks to all who helped to make it possible, especially Chyna and the regular milonga crew.
It's really chilly here today, in the mid 40s and not going anywhere all day. Mom is off, so was going to get some planting done, but that's out the window now. I suspect she'll spend some time catching up on reading instead. She's started collecting her summer stash of books, but there are a few science ones in there that she wants to read, too. There's one by Bill Nye, another called the Sixth Extinction, and the one she can't wait to get to called the Field Guide to Mesozoic Birds and other Winged Dinosaurs.
Tonight she and the family celebrate with Mother's day dinner out. Her daughter made reservations, and mom isn't sure where they are going, but is sure it will be good. I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of the sunshine and good weather we are lacking, as well as lots of well deserved attention today. Hugs, Willie

Another wonderful derby Milonga. Congrats to Dixie and Smarty Jones on their trophy. Thanks to Kiddo, Kaji, Chyna, Ranebeau and all the other fids and BC moms who helped to make it so fun.

A few days ago dad mentioned seeing a bird sitting on the hummingbird feeder (not eating). Yesterday mom saw it. Not sure what kinda songbird it was but it had a orangy head and neck. Might have to look at some pics to try to identify it.

As you know our dad's put out lemons (and oranges) plenty of times and someone(s) always takes 'em. Not sure if they are better than the store ones but they are fresher and cheaper, heehee.

  HI Peepers
Mom had 4 mini tours today at the museum. The numbers were weird, though. She had 7 on her first tour, 5 on the second one, then 23(!) for the third tour, and 6 for the final one. They were all in Dinosaur Hall, which mom likes, but those numbers were strange. Today in Oakland, and also at the Music Hall at the museum, there were a lot of graduations going on. The parking lot at the museum was filling up quickly when mom got there, and there were lots of family groups walking around in the museum, we think either waiting for the ceremonies to start, or celebrating the end of them.
It's a gloomy looking cool day with rain off and on all day, too.
This is going to be one exciting race tonight! We've placed our bets and can't wait to see who wins the Milonga Derby! Hope to see you there, but meanwhile get lots of well deserved attention. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Gosh, a three minute drive would be so much better than whatever skinsis has. Would save her so much in gas and time. The company should really figure out to transfer her to a closer place as be more productive and rested for each shift.

Think those two old coworkers of mom's rented but still. They'd both been promoted so that was part of why sent elsewhere.

Mom's sis and hubby have long since bought their own house but they were very happy at the time that their rent could not be increased overly much since they'd been there for so long. New people of course could be subject to a much high rate.

So fun to watch various types and sizes of birds coming and going from the lemon tree. Dad has recently trimmed it a tad. He wanted to do more but had filled up the yard waste container so stopped. Had put out a box of lemons for free (which was taken) so those didn't go to waste.

How are ya this evening? Good, I hope. I wanna say thanks for stoppin' by the wagering window and placing your bets for this year Milonga Derby. You've picked out some fine horses and jockeys to put your money on. They're all so fast I don't know how one will get out in front of any of the others and cross the finish line first. Imagine the chaos is all 12 crossed the line at the same time!
