How my tiel and I got together was just a miracle. I had lost my first tiel in 98 and was hoping one would drop on my doorstep and in 2002 we were supposed to babysit him for his previous mommy and she passed away and her friend asked if we would keep him for our own. I was so happy! cause I needed a tiel to fill the hole my first tiel left. Of course my peach fronted conure arrived the day after he died but it was only a tiel that could fill up that hole. I love my conure because she makes me laugh and keeps me happy. I was even happier when Peepers came to fill that void, the void needed by another tiel. I became the owner when my mom asked me if I wanted to keep him and I was like heck ya, I love this tiel so much! I heard his previous mommy wanted to make sure he was in a loving home before she died and he sure is!.

nutraberries,pa- sta,animal crackers,apple peels,

i like to hang out on the playpen with my 4 conure brothers/sister- s and my pesky lutino brother and on my mommys shoulder.

I dont like showers but mommy makes me go with her but hey at least im a clean boy!, when my brother Mario steals MY perch(Lutino Cockatiel),when i gotta be stuck in the cage when mommy goes to work cuz i like to hop onto the floor because she doesnt want me getting hurt,

I love my mommy cuz she takes real good care of me and gives me lots of loves, she says im a special boy cuz i eat with my foot like a parrot she takes me on car rides, walks on my neat neon yellow harness and leash which i hate but wearing that leash means going out so i gotta be a good boy for mommy and wear it,she likes to snuggle with me and i with her. for my birthday she makes me a special birdie cake topped with seeds cuz i only get pellets for my meals cuz she thinks pellets are alot more healthier for me than seeds and they taste good too! the fruity ones are my fave! im just soo happy she adopted me cuz im happy that i found her and made her soo happy again! me being left at her house was a miracle to her and to me too cuz i have 5 brothers/sister- s for company when mommy goes to work.

i like to eat with my foot like a parrot mommy thinks its soo COOL when i do that,I like to hold my foot up when i sing and she thinks thats soo CUTE!, mommy taught me to play dead, i just lay on my back in the palm of her hand real still she thinks thats soo Cute as well and hopping on the floor and going for a run catch me if u can cuz my little pink tiel legs can move!.

  Hi Peepers
mom used to skin her shins all the time when she was a kid roller skating with the skates that fit on your shoe with a key, riding her bike and falling off and playing with her brothers. she never remembers a skin shin that hurt so much. she finally took off the bandage today and that made it feel better. dad told mom that if she can just pull all the leaves down on the 3rd hillside of the house he will have the lawn service come and suck them up and that is a big relief to mom. if only that darn shin would start healing.

the painter who is painting the house came yesterday at 1pm to start and left t 3pm. today he came at 1pm and left at 3pm. his work is meticulous but he works extremely slow and since he works only a few hours at a time at this rate he will be painting the house all summer. mom has 5 bushes (2 mountain laurel & 3 yellow twig dogwood) she wants to plant around the foundation but is afraid to plant them until he is done and by that time it might be too late to plant them. he told mom he was checking her outdoor bird houses and found some of them filled with wasp nests so he took them out so the birds will come and use them so he is a good guy but can't expect him not to smash her shrubs with his ladder. we had to replace the wood in several sections of the house because it was rotted a few years ago when we had the flooding inside the house and it was determined that water was draining off of the roof and running down the side of the house. well the guy who did that did a half ass job and it all has to be replaced. now that the big blue spruce pine tree has been cut down we see that the wood has rotted because the tree was too close to the house. dad wants to buy a big shrub to replace that. anyway the painter is doing the wood replacement also. today he lost his pack of cigarettes and spent about 1/2 hour hunting for them but never found them. so he painted for 1-1/2 hours.

HAPPY HUMPDAY

  HI Peepers
Thanks for the updates on your mom and Nana. We hope Anthony gets the apartment. Even though studios are small, he doesn't need that much space for one guy.
Yesterday mom saw a hummingbird on our azalea. She got all excited, and will clean and fill the feeder today. It was a female, which means there might be a nest nearby.
Mom finally planted her larkspur seeds, but it might be too late. Our neighbor, who gave her the seeds, already has plants 4 inches or so high!
Today mom is off, but has some errands to run, so we'll be in lockdown for a couple of hours, until she gets back. It's a beautiful spring day here, kind of cool, but sunny. I hope you are getting some good spring weather there, along with cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Sounds like skinsis has learned to manage her finances since not asking for any help with bill paying and such. Know the parronts never mind either of 'em showing up for meals and taking eggstra home as it is a good way to ensure they have some healthy things to eat.

Mom's parronts hired a couple of the friends for projects at their house too. Just never know about big business these days how trained some of the employees would be. Hopefully Nana will get her house painted soon. Our dad and his brother did our house here and dad has spot painted here and there where it was needed. They've both painted their parronts house so know how to do it. Mom would help by taping the windows.

Can't imagine going that many days without seeing the sun. After a couple of days we'd be going bonkers. Even when it rains the sun often comes out afterwards.

We won another jukebox and prize pic? WhoooHoooo! We'll get it posted in our gallery and fly over to Angel Gabbie's soon. Think you mentioned there were a few new ones to choose from. Gotta check out this weeks lyrics.

  Hi Peepers
mom has not been feeling well at all. instead of resting up and feeling better she was feeling worse and worse but continued to try and get things done. these last few days it was agony just sitting. her back and side hurt and her leg was throbbing. yesterday she didn't do much of anything and last night she felt even worse so finally went to bed early. today she is feeling better. she changed the bandages on her leg and saw it wasn't healing at all but its not infected. after cleaning it up and a[plying new bandages it feels better now. the painter is at the house and has found lots of wood that is rotted and needs to be replaced. maybe thats why we have so many ants.

Boring days at home with mom are the best, aren't they? Did Anthony take the studio? I hope so, I know mom is trying to clear stuff out of the house. How's your mom doing? Is her hip healed? Is she still going to therapy?
How's Nana doing? How did her eye appointment go?
Today is pretty cloudy looking, and it's cool out there, in the 50s right now, and only going into the low 60s. Mom will get some laundry done, and may change out some of her winter things for more spring and summer things. At least the quilt on the bed is finally changed to the summer weight one.

I hope you are having a great beautiful spring day today, getting lots of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Think mom has taught skinsis well in shopping clearance and sale items. She does also occasionally just buy stuff if she needs it but also knows if prices are too high for things then won't buy 'em.

One of dad's friends does concrete jobs. Another is a contractor. Another works construction. All have helped with various projects. Might as well hire friends and dad usually helps out and gets a bit off the price since he knows how to do many of the jobs too.

Supposed to rain again here Thu/Fri but once again not supposed to be heavy. We eggspect more of it to fall in other areas but that's fine with us so long as reservoirs are getting filled or snowpack is added to as that also helps. Hopefully get some warmth and more sunshine there.

  HI Peepers
Your poor mom never gets a break! We thought the apartment was a done deal, sorry to hear it wasn't.
Mom talked to about 50 people yesterday about the pterosaurs hanging from the overlook. She spelled it wrong yesterday, for anyone looking them up: It's cycnoramphus, with a y not an i. They have weird mouths, tiny teeth only in the front. There were lots of people using the elevator and the stairs on the overlook, just not that many stopping to look at what mom had to show. She even had a cast of a pterodactyl for folks to touch.
After the museum, mom went to Barnes and Noble to use the coupons she had. As usual, it didn't take her long to find things to read.
Today at the center mom had the avian nursery to do. There are some nestlings there who had to eat every 30 minutes, and she had the timer for them, too. The nestlings were a little fuzzy finch, a Carolina wren, and a baby robin. There were also several mallards in there, 10, at least, in 2 cages with decoy moms and mirrors. There was a baby goose with a decoy mom in its cage, too. There were the usual mourning doves and pigeons, as well as an eastern screech owl, a cardinal, and a pileated woodpecker. Mom also set up a cage for a grey catbird, but didn't see it, as it was still in the treatment room.
She was a few minutes late getting out today; that was a lot of birds, with the baby feedings thrown in.
Now, mom is home with us, hoping to finish a book today, and maybe get some laundry going. Tomorrow Falco has a follow up appointment with the vet; she is seeing that girl before rush hour starts, YAY! She's going to see more than 2 feathers growing in, too. Mom says it looks like a bunch of chest feathers are coming. I hope you are having a good day, getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Not sure how the young folk are gonna manage once they get older and want to buy houses and such. Gotta have some savings for a rainy day too as can't charge everything on the CC (assuming they have one) but guess it might just be live and learn and that might be a very hard lesson indeed.

Know some areas houses are farther away from schools so having a school bus is a must. Like we said not many near us and many who live a tad farther will use the county buses so have to pay for that. Would imagine paying for bus will help to maintain 'em.

Temps remaining warmish with a cool breeze. Not humid so that is good. Hope you get warmer there too.

Yes, took days for the driveway to be torn out and replaced but something was done everyday to get it ready and the install was fairly quick. Another friend who works in concrete got the side parts framed in and done with the pebbles and other parts had smooth. The brickwork is in the center.

Hopefully skinbro will be approved for one of the apartments and can get moved in and take his mattress away.

Often having a late lunch means only want a snack at dinner time. Nice to have the next dinner already prepped and ready to bake.

  HI Peepers
It's great that brother got the apartment close to sis. Hope he got everything moved in there yesterday.
Mom went with her niece to see the opera last night. The scenery was really cute, it looked very 2 dimensional, and was mostly drawn onto a white background, so looked very childlike and unsophisticated. The music was typical Stravinsky, mom liked it a lot. In fact, she enjoyed the music more than the singing, because the music was playful in spots. The cast was very well matched vocally, and the chorus did a bang up job! For an opera written in 1951, it was pretty good. Mom doesn't usually like contemporary works like that. They had dinner at Nicky's Thai Kitchen before the performance, too.
Today mom has to do a 3 hour spotlight at the new pterosaurs in Dinosaur hall. They are cicnorhamphus, and they are hanging above the hall. Mom thinks she'll be on the second floor balcony, so people can see them better. They are pretty cool pterosaurs, have beaks that indicate they were filter feeders, something like flamingos.
I think after the museum, mom will head to Barnes and Noble, then come home. I hope you are having a good day there. It's gloomy here, and raining off and on. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Think the plastic trays weren't strong enough to go in the dishwasher. Probably warp or melt. Would've been so much easier. At least a burnt on pot or pan is fairly flat/smooth. Those lil spots that can't get into is irksome.

It is always a mystery when a young person has a job and then flakes and does the no show or calls off when not sick. Can't imagine how they can pay their bills or other eggspenses if don't actually go to work. Some complain about lack of hours but then don't want to come in when asked or stay longer.

Glad don't really have school buses here but the parronts picking up kids really clog things up and often are poor drivers when kids are walking and such. If homes are 4 or more miles away then makes sense to have school bus. Most kids here live within a mile or maybe a tad farther which is easily walkable or ride a bike.

Got into the 70s yesterday. Not bad with the cool breeze. Today is supposed to be 80s. The a/c at mom's work still not best.

A few years ago dad redid the driveway. Got all the old concrete out and dug out the dirt and put paving bricks in. He saw a backhoe guy in the parking lot on his lunch break so hired him to break up the old driveway and then used a sledgehammer to break the pieces up. A friend who was helping with the new driveway arranged for a dump truck to put the old pieces in. Quite an undertaking.

  HI Peepers
Today there's not much going on. It's a beautiful day outside, though. Mom walked the dogs in sunshine! She'll spend part of today getting ready for the opera tonight. Aunt Ginny can't go with her, so her niece Jessica is going to pick mom up for dinner and the opera. The opera is The Rake's Progress, which mom has never heard. It's by Igor Stravinsky, who wrote some controversial music in his day, like the Firebird and the Rite of Spring. Those are both ballets that mom likes, so hopefully the opera will be at least interesting.

  Hi, Peepers
Yeah, mom would fill the sink with water and let the dehydrator tray soak for a while and then have to use a toothpick (to not scratch the plastic) to clean the lil holes. Rather tedious.

Sometimes the small school buses go down our street. Those are for special needs kids. Too bad your mom wasn't ahead of the school bus since had to wait for it to turn around to get into the driveway.

The worse when hear about someone car broken into when parked on their driveway! One morning the neighbor told dad that his security camera caught a guy getting to the neighbor unlocked car but there was nothing of value left in it. Apparently checked mom's car but it was locked. She never takes her laptop in the car, whew!

Ten minutes to get out of Nana's street to come home? Around here 3-3:30 time is when schools let out so have to stay clear of any streets with a school or leading to a school unless have lots of time to waste. Many parronts will just block the road waiting for their turn to get into parking lot rather than parking and walking (which is what mom did when picked up skinsis as a kid since she was leaving work just before school let out) but on days she wasn't working would just walk.

Temps a bit warmer yesterday and today will be higher and then Sun will be higher still, yuck!

  Hi Peepers
moms eye is feeling better and just a little itchy . her side really hurts but that should go away. mom waited for dad, at the eye doctors, for 3 hours. she finished a book and then dad came out and said the doctor said his eye was much better and dad was very relieved. it was good mom was forced to sit there since she couldn't get into anymore accidents while reading. mom came home and then slept and slept some more and is feeling more rested. today she bought 3 yellow twig dogwoods to plant. they re good for -40F and don't require much sun.

Bad Paddy Cake was at it again and landed on top of the curtains in the bedroom and took off with the silk poop protector mom made to cover the curtains. its about 12 feet long and when i saw that thing dropping down to the carpet I panicked and ran into my cat carrier for safety and wouldn't come out until mom had it draped over the top of the curtains again.

Boo Boo saw it falling first and had already hoped to the other end of the bedroom before i even knew what was happening.

  HI Peepers
You sure had a rough start, but it's good you're with your mom now, she really loves you.
Mom's sister drove her to the eye surgeon yesterday, and in spite of messed up directions from MapQuest, they managed to find the place. The directions told them to do a U turn and go back up the same road, but the place was to their right where the U turn was indicated! Anyway, the doctor did the laser procedure in her right eye, and said he didn't think the left one needed it at all, and maybe never would. Wouldn't that be great? So she has to put in prednisone drops for 5 days, and see her regular eye doc next week for a follow up. She's already seeing better, though. Mom went to dinner with her sister while they waited for the prescription drops to be ready.
This morning mom had the bunny room to clean. She cleaned about 22 cages, with about 40 or so bunnies. There was another person in there weighing them, so that was a huge help. In the middle of cleaning the bunnies, the director came in and asked mom to tube feed 6 possum babies, so she left to do that, too. The babies were in an incubator in the mammal nursery, in a Christmas stocking. Cute, right? They didn't want to go back in there after they were fed, so mom just covered them with a soft blanket and left the stocking in with them. Possums are so cute when they are that little, and they are pretty easy to intubate. Of course, mom clogged one of the feeding tubes, and squirted possum milk all over the place, including her glasses and face. It all worked out though. She managed to get them all done. The staff was complaining about tubes clogging when she went back to the bunny room, so she was glad it wasn't just her.
Now mom is ours for the rest of the day. She needs to do some laundry, but other than that, she's ours, all ours.
It's still pretty cool here, in the low 50s with cloud cover, so it doesn't look too good outside. I hope you are getting better weather, and lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Dad bought the dehydrator years ago after seeing it advertised on TV. Mostly made beef jerky with it but also dried fruits and herbs too. Had to rotate trays and that was annoying. Couldn't put in the dishwasher and not fun to clean.

Glad Dixie continues to improve. No fun when a fid has an injury or needs meds for any reason. Hopefully won't need the drops too much longer.

Not too many school buses around here. Think most kids do live within walking/biking distance of school but many gets rides from parronts which always means a traffic jam on the street the school is on with cars waiting for students to get out.

Hopefully that B&G is as fortunate as you in finding another wonderful forever home. Know being a bigger bird will be more difficult as it probably still grieving for his mom in his own way.

Still on the cool side here yesterday but know that heat will be arriving over the w/e. Wish could share with you! Hope it only lasts a couple of days and not humid. Just too early to have temps in the 80s (or higher).

Parronts babysat last night. They took the grand out to dinner and she so enjoyed her mac cheese and strawberries. Got a lil sundae dessert too. During the meal a waiter asked if the parronts owned a black something or other car but they don't. That prompted dad to look out the window and then saw a black car with the side window smashed. Soon saw the owner talking with a Sheriff officer and mom heard that a laptop was taken. Just cannot leave anything of value visible!

That poor B&G is probably mourning, he/she needs time to grieve the passing of its owner. I bet later it will be a super great pet, especially as it hasn't been passed around for 35 years. Poor baby...
Today it's raining hard out there, but of course the dogs still wanted a walk. It's funny, because they hide under the overhang on the deck when mom puts them out in the rain, but they'll walk on leads right out in the rain! Mom got wet, too, even though she was carrying an umbrella. It's a spring rain, though, so it will be good for the flowers. Temps are mid 50s, it feels like.
Mom is getting that laser treatment on her eyes today, we think. She doesn't know if he'll do both eyes today or not, but we're kind of hoping he does, just to get it over with.

  Hi Peepers
Makes sense that if takes years to accumulate stuff then take years to get rid of it. A long time ago the parronts got a food dehydrator. The top broke so dad wants to replace it. That one was plastic so wants a stainless steel one. They are all kinda large (and eggspensive) and mom never used more than three trays at one time. She'll keep checking 'em out before deciding.

Hopefully Dixie's eye is getting better from the meds and eye drops. Keeping our wings crossed for him.

So, so much construction, road work, or work underneath roads making for detours or just closing of a lane (or two) backing up traffic and creating delays and slowness. At least they aren't set up yet when mom goes to work but she does have to watch out for the school madness when she goes home. Just gotta know where to avoid the mess!

Sounds like the B&G will need a patient new owner since was with the previous one such a long time. Hopefully won't be too frustrated waiting and getting unruly but imagine harder to find a new place for a bigger fid.

Got our rain yesterday but not much fell in our area. Most went north of us where they had lightning too. It was windy and cool most of the day despite the sunshine.

mom limped down and picked up the last bag of leaves on hillside 2. then she had to buy a sheppards hook because when dad cut down the blue spruce last fall mom had moved a birdhouse from it to where she always hangs the hummingbird feeder. birds have made a nest in the bird house so mom had to hang the hummingbird feeder in new spot. after getting it in the ground and then getting the hummingbird feeder hung up a branch from the shrub smacked mom in the eye. mom didn't pay much attention at the time but now it is seeping and itchy and quite sickening. mom is loading both eyes up with eye drops and hopes it will feel better tomorrow.tomorrow she has to drive dad to have more intensive testing done on his eyeballs and he won't be able to see afterwards and its 35 mies away.

Your mom gets a lot of visits from family, which is really nice. (Except when she wants to get things done, that is, haha.) Mom's daughter calls occasionally, as do the grands, but she doesn't really see them all that often.
Mom had 2 tours this morning with first grades. They all wanted dinosaurs and friends, and both groups had booked a pterosaur time after their tour, so mom knows they will have a great time. One of the little guys kept trying to correct mom when she said pterosaur! He kept saying pterodactyl, so she finally told him that pterodactyl names one animal in the group, but pterosaur is the name for the whole group. He was very cute!
I hope your weather is better than ours today. It's 62 and cloudy, looks like rain any second. We are hoping the rain doesn't come until mom is back from the vet's office. I hope that you are getting lots of attention, cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
The side of the house dad put the bricks to block the dust and leaves from the neighbors gardener is the side that isn't used much and not seen if visitors come. The other side with the shared fence where the neighbors walkway is has raised beds on our side so no way for anything to come thru there. No one likes to see a dirt mess after finished cleaning up the yard. Those leaf blowers should never blow stuff out into traffic. Just an accident waiting to happen.

Hopefully those big things will be gone for good so your parronts have more room for what they want to do with the space. Too much stuff around here as well and one day will organize and streamline.

we have had the lawn service come by about 4 times and suck up all the leaves. the leave mom is getting now on side one is from the detective who blows all his leaves onto the side of our property. side 2 is from the neighbor who never picks up his leaves and the wind blows them all onto the property. side 3 are all the leaves that have been tightly packed around all the forsythia bushes growing on the hillside. that is the dirties job because mom has to lay on the hillside and unpack the leaves from the base of the shrubs and then pull the leaves to the bottom and then pick them up. if you blow them they just get packed tighter and if you don't pick them up they will kill the shrubs.. mom trys and gets it done before all the bugs come out and bite her.

  HI Peepers
It sounds like it stays cold up there forever! We are getting warm again here.
Today mom did the presentation of Hopi and ancient Egyptian animals for the new docent class. It was a little scary, because mom didn't find a lot of information on the Hopi animals, but she managed. She showed the class some of the things that lived or live today in the southwest, like jaguars, pronghorns, etc. She also stopped at the deer and elk cases, even though those particular deer and elk aren't from the southwest. They also stopped at the coyote.
Egypt was a lot easier to research and present. Mom presented the animals and the gods with whom they were associated. It was fun, because not only did they wander all over the second floor, looking at the African dioramas, they also got to see the dung beetles from the resource room.
On the third floor, mom did Bird Hall, but told them they were doing both Egyptian and Hopi, so they had to keep separate notes for them. They paid particular attention to vultures and falcons for Egypt, golden eagles for Hopi, then further down the hall, they stopped at the turkey (Hopi raise wild ones for food), quail, ibis, and a few others. The last 2 stops were in the cultural halls. Mom showed them the mummified animals in Egypt, and where to see the golden eagle in the Hopi area. All in all, it took the full 2 hours which mom didn't expect, but they seemed to get a lot out of it.
On the way home, mom stopped at Trader Joe's (always a mistake when you are hungry), and picked up some beet hummus, Mediterranean hummus, curried chicken salad, sushi, well, you get the picture. She went in there for broccoli and blueberries for us. Oh yes, she got them, too.
That meant coming straight home, though, because it's warm out and some of the things she bought had to be frozen or refrigerated. So she didn't stop to vote, but will go later, as she's not going to miss today's primary.
It rained here this morning, and apparently while mom was lecturing at the museum. It looks like it might rain again, but in between, the sun is really hot. It's in the mid 70s here. I hope you are having a great spring day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches, too. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
The worse thing is when the gardeners that people hire for doing their yards blow all the dust/dirt into neighbor yards rather than gathering it up and putting in the yard waste. Our dad ended up putting bricks up against the bottoms of the fence to keep anything from getting blown underneath. Or when they blow the stuff into the street and there are cars going by (or worse someone on a bicycle) and that makes it hard to see.

Good that more of the eggcess stuff is gone from the house. Mattress/boxsprings do take up a lot of space.

Know BC parronts would enjoy having Celine be more active. Know skinsis probably hasn't fully recovered and know not always find time to blog when working. Still, if she's interested can always get on occasionally if everyday is too much.

well mom over did it again. today she started on the 2nd hillside. she got 7 50lbs bag full of leaves. that wasn't the hard part. it was dragging the leaves up the hill that did her in. she slipped and ripped open her shin on a rock. she was so exhausted from dragging the leaves up the hillside she never finished the last bag. the blood on her shin dried and her stuck her jeans to her leg. the good news is their was no tear on her jeans. she was so exhausted she didn't even wash up afterwards. she just got dad his dinner and watched tv all night. i soent the evening pulling all the sticks and leaves out of moms hair. it was a dirty job but somebody had to help her.

  HI Peepers
Mom got back late from the center today. She went up about 15 minutes early, and started right away to do animal intakes. One couple brought in 3 bunnies in their nest (mom had been hit by a car), and while mom was doing the intake info on them, another lady came in with 7 baby possums. So, between answering the phone, and doing the paperwork, there went her advantage in being there a little early. Mom checked with Jess, one of the rehabilitators, to see how she could help, because Jess looked very stressed out. Jess told her she needed to stimulate and weigh all the baby bunnies and she was the only person there who knew how to do that. Mom said not true, I can help! So she stimulated about 24 baby bunnies to help them urinate and defecate, then weighed each one of them and marked the charts. It saved Jess a ton of stress and time.
After that, mom cleaned the squirrel porch, and prepared 2 cages out there for babies from the mammal nursery who are ready to go outside and see the world, although they're not ready for release yet. When she finished that, she cleaned the small flight aviary, where Martha the great horned owl is raising a young one. The baby has grown quite big, and was clacking its beak at mom, just like an owl should do. Martha is a great foster mom.
They had scheduled mom to feed raccoons at noon, but it was already 10 after, the raccoons' milk was not even warm yet, and mom was tired, so she told Jess she was leaving.
It sure was a long and busy morning. Now she's back with us, and as soon as she's done with our blogs and a shower, she will work on her presentation for the docents tomorrow. She will be doing Egyptian and Hopi animals. She is including reptiles in this presentation, because both groups are/were desert dwellers, so there are lots of reptiles there. Also, in Egypt, she has to include the dung beetles! She's not sure it will last for 2 hours, though. That's fine with her, of course.
Today is a bright, sunny day, in the 60s so far, which is normal. I hope you are having a great day, getting sunshine, and lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Old car batteries are taken by whoever is selling the new battery. It is the regular batteries that are taken at curbside if left in a clear, sealed bag on top of the recycle can. The idiots are only looking for cans/bottles to redeem for cash but they don't necessarily put anything back in the can once they grab what they want.

We figured it was skinsis who maintains Celine's page but know can be difficult to find time to write the blogs when busy with work and such. At least now with the email notification working she'll know if Celine gets any blogs.

Temps remain on the mild side since it was so windy. Dad had cleaned up all the leaves but the wind just knocked more off trees or blown from neighbors it looks like he didn't do anything. At least got a layer gone.

Sounds like a busy day there with the oven cleaning and the stuff with skinsis. Hopefully both she and skinbro will be able to take their stuff away and good to have all the things for donation. Be more space soon.

today mom worked outside and got 4 bags of leaves from the side of the house. 2 more sides to go.

Maybe Nana should get a tracphone, that's one where you can buy minutes. After buying the phone, she can buy a year's worth of minutes for $100. Then there is no monthly bill to pay.
Peppino says thanks for the vote.
It's a bit warmer today than it was yesterday. It's around 70 and sunny right now. Mom went to the bird show this morning, and it was pretty good. She bought some new sea grass mats with toys on them, some poop off, many other toys (of course), and a huge bag of fresh chop. The chop was being sold fresh to benefit a parrot rescue group, so mom was happy to contribute. The lady making it made an immense plastic bin full! She put in more things than mom cuts up every day, so we're going to try it with Maxine and the boys. Mom might give Falco some too, to see if she'll eat it.
She got to see 2 presentations at the bird show, one on how to make chop, and one about the new rescue in our area. They had lots of birds with them, including 2 adorable nandays and a galah that mom was really admiring. I have to say that she came home with lots of stuff, but no new birds. This place offers foster opportunities though, so she's thinking about that. There were the usual raffles going on, as well as a huge raffle for an outdoor aviary. Mom did not buy tickets for that one, though! She'd never get it put up outside.
When she left the show, she stopped at Moio's, a local Italian bakery, to take some goodies to Aunt Ginny who is recovering from pneumonia. Mom was her first company, although her adult kids have been with her every day and evening for the past 2 weeks. They had a nice visit, then mom came back here and divided the chop into some smaller containers for the freezer. It's supposed to be good frozen for 3 months. She is really hoping we'll eat it.
Here's Falco's update: The vet called yesterday and changed my appointment to this week. She had wanted to see me in a week, but the front desk made the appointment for 2 weeks instead, due to availability (mom's and the vet's). So, I'm going in this Wednesday at 3:30, which means another trip in rush hour traffic to return home, but it's all good. Mom says as long as I'm getting better, that's what counts. We can sing in the car on the way home. Hugs, Falco

Guess if a fid (or other pet) is sensitive to those sounds they will hear it and be concerned, scared, upset, no matter what. Being able to eliminate the sight and sound as best as can is what must do.

So good that hardware places take the bulbs as don't want them in the landfills. Our curbrecycle takes batteries and motor oil (in containers with sealable caps) so that is convenient. Just have to hope no idiots peruse the recycle looking for cans and leave a mess.

We flew over to Celine page yesterday and left her hatchday wishes there. We assume that skinsis set up that page since it has been inactive for so long.

  HI Peepers
Happy Hatchday to Celine! Hope she had a nice celebration.
Nana returned her cell phone? Didn't she like it? Was there something wrong?
It got a lot cooler overnight, it's around 53 right now. We were getting spoiled with those really warm sunny days. The rain was needed, even though we didn't get much, but the cooler temps are more normal for this time of year.
Falco only has until Tuesday with the antibiotic, and the pain med was done yesterday. Mom can see some new feathers!
Mom is off today! What a treat that is for all of us. She will be able to spend a lot of time with us, and she'll get some yard work done, too. Our neighbor Jeff gave mom 2 dahlias and an amaryllis. Mom found space for the amaryllis on the windowsill, but the dahlias are outside the front door right now. It's way too soon to plant them, even though they are growing. Mom is leaving them outside to harden off, but if it gets too cold, she'll bring them into the kitchen. I guess it's time to look at all the geraniums, dahlias, and tuberous begonias she put in the garage last fall, to see if any survived the winter. We'll let you know.
Tomorrow is a bird show, new to our area! It's being run by a different sponsor, and looks interesting, with presentations and even a movie or 2. Someone will be there talking about chop, there looks to be a lot going on. I'll tell you what mom brings home tomorrow, since we'll be blogging later in the day.
I hope you are having a great day today, enjoying a good Saturday with family, and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Don't forget to vote in the ladies' and gents' hat contests on the milonga page. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Now, skinsis furball is terrified of those sounds. Good thing we don't get thunderstorms too often. Not sure how mom got us not to be scared of the lights of lightning either but maybe just our location in the house means we don't usually see 'em.

Hopefully Dixie isn't rubbing his eye anymore and that the drops are making 'em feel better. Know that the rubbing could potentially make things worse and never want that. We'll be keeping our wings crossed for him.

While we wouldn't want to have to take our trash to the landfill ourselves having all the recycle stuff in one place is convenient. We have separate location to take any old electronics (TV, puters, stereo, etc) and many organizations will come and pick up old fridge (if still working) and local hardware stores take the lights.

More great bargains your mom and family found. Our freezer is stuffed and gotta use some things to make room for fresher. Don't have a second freezer anymore as dad didn't want to pay eggstra on power bill for it and don't really have a spot for one anyway.

Got our rain yesterday. Apparently another storm is on the way but not sure what day it is supposed to arrive since mom missed the actual weather report and only heard the snippet that more was coming.

  HI Peepers
Mom's eye is still a little sensitive today, still watering, too. It should be better soon, though. She had to wait forever yesterday: her appointment was at 9:40, and they didn't leave the doctor's office until nearly noon. She hasn't had a shot for 12 weeks, though, so that's good.
Mom went to traffic court last evening. She left here early and battled the downtown traffic, but it was worth it. Her original ticket, which she never saw on the car, was for $25. By the time they wrote to her, the fine had increased to $48, and was set to go to $63 in 2 days from when she opened the letter! Of course, she tossed the original parking receipt when she changed purses to travel to FL, so she didn't have that. The magistrate lowered the fine to $10, though, so between that and the $6 parking fee, she still came out ahead by $47. That made it worth the trip. The magistrate said her time ran out at 3:52, and the ticket was issued at 3:53! The meter person must have been standing there just waiting. Mom was back at the car by 4.
Today mom cleaned the RVS room. There are 3 carriers with raccoons in them, plus 3 baby red foxes in a larger cage in there. All the babies are adorable, and she loved being in there today. Keep that in mind when she complains about it in a few weeks, when there will be probably 20 cages full of RVS animals, and the room is packed! Mom also did dishes and laundry while she was up there today, so it was a pretty good day at the center.
I hope you are voting in the hat contest every day.
It's a gloomy looking day here today; we had rain overnight and it's supposed to rain later today as well. The good news is that we need the rain, it's a spring rain, so nice for the plants, and the overnight rain was gentle, too, no storms.
I bet you are having a good spring day too, complete with lots of cuddles and scritches for you, a good birdie! Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Must've been very scary for your mom when more than one of you were injured from getting spooked during the storm. We don't get many thunderstorms here and even when we have they don't seem to bother us. Fireworks never bothered us either maybe since we live near the high school and have heard it more than just once a year.

Poor Dixie must be very uncomfy with that eye and while rubbing it might initally feel good know it eventually just make things worse. Think the soft collar must work well and not be too icky for a fid to wear while they do their needed job.

Would think med ins could be set up so a person is covered the entire year if need it. Very distressing if need something and not have coverage until later. Hopefully Nana doesn't have to wait too long.

You can be sure our mom never forgot replacing that darn gas cap again. Not sure but seems newer cars have the cap attached but not good when it doesn't work anymore.

The recycle places in the grocery parking lots are all gone. Mom recalled a place they used to take recycle when living at their old home so looked it up and still there so went there. Good thing they always wait until have a lot before taking 'em since have to drive a lot farther to redeem the aluminum can, glass and plastics.

its taken me 2 days to get over my trauma of grooming. today I am almost acting like my old self. it only took Boo Boo 1 day to bounce back.

mom has a raven in the yard. he doesn't seem bothered by mom. mom noticed he was at the birdbath an so she decided to clean it out and refill it. Guess what? the raven must have found the body and legs of the bird. remember mom first found the wings buried under leaves, then the head floating in another birdbath. well today the raven must have been eating it delicious find. anyway it made the water rancid so mom threw it in the grass and cleaned out the birdbath. conclusion to the deceased bird is that a cat must have gotten it and pulled its wings off and then its head because nothing on the bird had been eaten although the intestine was hanging out and that must have been the raven. the raven is beautiful and very big and isn't afraid of mom which worries mom since some yahoo might see this beautiful bird and shoot it.

Good to know what colors scare us so keep 'em away so not causing us to jump and possibly injure ourselves. Silver's broken or bent a few tail feathers but neither of us has broken a blood feather, whew!

Probably good idea to put that collar on Dixie. Hopefully the eye meds help so it doesn't want him to rub his eyes and cause further injury but the collar will ensure he doesn't do it by accident.

Even if the BOTD isn't getting active fids still nice to see a new pic each day. Maybe it'll work correctly in time.

Such good bargains your mom and Nana got. Hopefully Nana will be able to see the doc soon to get some relief from the hip and leg discomfort. Really is not right that the ins isn't more user friendly and available longer so not have to wait.

Temps remain overly warm but at least went down slightly. Rain remains in the forecast for tomorrow.

Our mom is glad her gas cap is teathered so can't lose it by leaving it on the roof or some such. A long time ago mom pumped gas for her sis and left the cap on the roof and after they drove off it fell so they knew immediately what happened and retrieved it. Nice hat pic! We love boring days at home, but it's busy season at both the museum and wildlife center, so we won't see any of those for awhile.

Today mom had 2 tours at the museum with second grade children. It was an animal tour, so she started both of the groups in bird hall. They all had questions about the birds! The funny thing was that the first group was all boys, and the second was all girls. They were okay for second grade, not quite as bad as mom thought they'd be.
Did you notice on the parrot newsletter that it's not i5publishing any more? It said Lumina, formerly i5 in the credits. Maybe that's why BC is doing better for the past 2 days.
I hope you are having another beautiful day. We sure are! It's cooler than it was yesterday, only in the 70s today, but it's sunny and pretty out. I hope also that you are getting lots of attention, cuddles, and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Can understand if at the grocery and someone is talking to another via phone about meal plans and what items to buy but others are just chatting about who knows what. In our area hear a lot of foreign languages and never sure what some of 'em are. The other day mom heard a coworker helping a couple and the wife spoke in a foreign language to the husband so the coworked asked what it was. Think answer was Turkish? Something different the the usual Spanish or one of the Asian ones.

Another warm day for us yesterday. Was a tad on the humid side but not too bad if stay in the shade. Hopefully get more warm days there but at least now know where the spray bottle is.

The blue shade we dislike is a medium pure blue color. Not sure why it scares us but nothing else makes us jump and try to fly away inside our birdhouse.

Sounds like putting a collar on Dixie might be good to ensure he isn't rubbing his eye too much but hope the drops help it feel better so he doesn't wanna rub it.

Have to wait and see if the BOTD really is working again but if everybirdie got the email messages that might mean it is. Be good to see all of us in the spotlight again.
