How my tiel and I got together was just a miracle. I had lost my first tiel in 98 and was hoping one would drop on my doorstep and in 2002 we were supposed to babysit him for his previous mommy and she passed away and her friend asked if we would keep him for our own. I was so happy! cause I needed a tiel to fill the hole my first tiel left. Of course my peach fronted conure arrived the day after he died but it was only a tiel that could fill up that hole. I love my conure because she makes me laugh and keeps me happy. I was even happier when Peepers came to fill that void, the void needed by another tiel. I became the owner when my mom asked me if I wanted to keep him and I was like heck ya, I love this tiel so much! I heard his previous mommy wanted to make sure he was in a loving home before she died and he sure is!.

Cinnamon Mutation Cockatiel

nutraberries,pa- sta,animal crackers,apple peels,

i like to hang out on the playpen with my 4 conure brothers/sister- s and my pesky lutino brother and on my mommys shoulder.

I dont like showers but mommy makes me go with her but hey at least im a clean boy!, when my brother Mario steals MY perch(Lutino Cockatiel),when i gotta be stuck in the cage when mommy goes to work cuz i like to hop onto the floor because she doesnt want me getting hurt,

I love my mommy cuz she takes real good care of me and gives me lots of loves, she says im a special boy cuz i eat with my foot like a parrot she takes me on car rides, walks on my neat neon yellow harness and leash which i hate but wearing that leash means going out so i gotta be a good boy for mommy and wear it,she likes to snuggle with me and i with her. for my birthday she makes me a special birdie cake topped with seeds cuz i only get pellets for my meals cuz she thinks pellets are alot more healthier for me than seeds and they taste good too! the fruity ones are my fave! im just soo happy she adopted me cuz im happy that i found her and made her soo happy again! me being left at her house was a miracle to her and to me too cuz i have 5 brothers/sister- s for company when mommy goes to work.

i like to eat with my foot like a parrot mommy thinks its soo COOL when i do that,I like to hold my foot up when i sing and she thinks thats soo CUTE!, mommy taught me to play dead, i just lay on my back in the palm of her hand real still she thinks thats soo Cute as well and hopping on the floor and going for a run catch me if u can cuz my little pink tiel legs can move!.

"where there is floor tiel will travel, watch your step cuz im goin for a run!".

  Hi Peepers
Both of those blessings sound so nice! Why do they do them so early there? We do them here around the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi in early October. Falco told Kallie about the one mom went to last year.
The double wedding yesterday was sure beautiful. We all wish the 2 happy couples long life and happiness. We were sorry to have to be silent during the reception, but mom had plans for the evening.
It was her first Night at the Races, a fundraiser for the pool where she goes in the summer. She always bought a horse and jockey for the event, but never went. She never won, either, although her sister has won at least $40 every year! Last night, she and her sister and brother in law went to the dinner and stayed for the races. Guess what? Mom's horse won in its race! Mom won $40, and since she bet on it, she won another $4. (Of course, she spent more than that during the course of the evening.) It sure was fun winning something, though!
Today it's kind of cloudy and it's supposed to be cooler, although when mom walked the dogs, it was sure humid and close. I hope you are having a great day today, getting lots of Sunday love, and having a pleasant weather day as well. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
How awesome for the flock to get the blessings and kinda figured there wouldn't be many fids there. Hopefully your mom will get copies of both the local paper and the pet gazette for those pics that were taken.

Still warm around here and eggspect it'll continue off/on for awhile. Sure hope we get rain this fall/winter. Sounds like you are getting fall weather already with those 60s days and 30s at night.

Mom didn't really have a good place to put the baby down but her paperback was nearby so was able to read a bit.

Skinsis had to teach the class by herself. Her fiance had his own class to teach at a different location. She really doesn't want to teach much as she is busy enough with her own job, the baby and keeping up with laundry, dishes, furball, etc, etc.

Hope the baby isn't too cranky after the shots. Mom remembers that skinsis was 17 pounds at one year old. Was backwards in her carseat until about 18 months when she was barely 20 pounds. Not sure current law. Might have to be heavier to face forward now. Skinsis kinda potty trained herself at age 2. She had a lil wading pool and knew she didn't want to pee in it and so the potty chair was brought outside for use. Kids will learn at their own pace.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Thanks for the well wishes. Falco's side doesn't feel as hard to mom, so maybe that's a good sign. She's still giving mom a hard time with the meds, though.
Falco says she feels good enough to be dancing at the wedding today. It's at 4 eastern, hope to see you there.
Mom had a training type tour this morning to help the people who work in the halls. She took them through cenozoic and mesozoic halls and gave them some background on the exhibits. It was fun, different from any tour she's ever done. Then she had a tour in mammal hall for the general public. It was one of those mini tours, and she finished in 35 minutes, YAY. That's supposed to be the time frame for those.
I hope you are getting lots of good weather today, we sure are! May your day be filled with sunshine and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Yesterday mom picked up skinsis and the grand. They went to the farmer's market and both got some fresh bread and a couple other things. Then they went and got a few things at Target and got lunch to bring home as baby was wet and hungry by then. Later skinsis fiance arrived to take skinsis to teach a class for him as he's short a teacher since the one he had lined up turned out not to be available Fri! Skinsis hopes he finds another teacher for next week as she just wanted to relax on her Fri since she works both w/e days.

What a lot of work your mom must do packing her car up then having to repack it in Nana's car but at least they got everything donated or to the trash/recycle places. So good to have the seed for the wild birds but know the bags are heavy. So good to have a place to dispose of old or unwanted meds as they don't want 'em flushed here either. Wondered what they did with 'em.

That's good your dad gets his jeans from his work and that they take care of cleaning 'em too. Makes one less thing to worry about.

Mom didn't end up getting a new pic of the baby. She was too busy holding her and she was asleep or eating much of the time. She'll have to do it at the beginning of the visit. Skinsis needs to take baby for a well check and get the weight and first set of shots. Feels very heavy, but only in 3 month size clothes (will be 3 months old in another week and a half) so really can't weigh that much. Think diaper size is 1. Mom recalls that baby skinsis never wore larger than a size 2 before being potty trained.

Be awesome for the flock to attend the blessing of the animals. We imagine mostly fur type pets attend.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

Come visit me, Pearl & Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Mom had fun as a guest last night. She even took a tour, saying she might learn something else to say on the tours she gives there. It was an interesting evening, and the food was good. They had wine, but since she was driving, she stuck with the iced tea.
Today is Falco's 3rd day on the antibiotics, so mom got her 3rd bite today (on the arm instead of the hand this time). Only 11 more doses to go, heehee. She doesn't really like getting toweled and told what to swallow, but mom means well. We're wondering if anybirdie out there has a suggestion for probiotics, as well. Mom hates to buy benebac, because Falco's only one bird, they don't use it at the center any more, and those tubes are expensive. Has anybirdie tried a dot of yogurt? We think that may work, but we aren't sure. Mom says it would be such a tiny amount, it shouldn't hurt, be we'd like to be sure.
Mom cleaned the coyote pens today, and both boys are getting big. They should be gone soon, we think. Yesterday the 22 outdoor raccoons were released, YAY, and today about 6 turtles said goodbye to us and went home to the wild. It's really clearing out there. Martha's foster owlets went into the flight cage this morning after the red tailed hawk was released from there, so it's starting to slow down considerably at the center.
I hope you are having a good day today, even though these days are getting shorter and the weather is cooling down. Get lots of extra cuddles to keep you warm, okay? Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Sounds like your mom's done all she can to help prevent birds from flying into the window. Don't get that too much here but sad when they don't make it. Heard that high rises do something to their windows to help keep birds away but can't recall what it is. Maybe some sorta reflection thingy.

Hopefully skinsis is feeling better and will now eat a better diet. Constantly eating greasy, fatty, salty foods can't be good for the digestion or health. More fresh fruit and veggies and less deep fried stuff.

Mom's just glad she found those two pairs of jeans that were the correct length. Dad accidentally left a pair at his mom's house.

Temps dropped to the mid 70s yesterday but we didn't get any rain. Guess other areas got some but know it really only benefits the plants.

Mom's gonna pick up skinsis and the grand today and hit the farmer's market. She never gets to go since she's usually at work but got her days switched so will take advantage. (Gotta take a new pic of the baby!)

  Hi Peepers
I'm glad that sis is out of the hospital, what was wrong, though? Is she getting the results of that consult yet, what are they doing about her back?
We are having a lot of trouble with the pages today, hope you have better luck. It seems we can either vote or blog, so mom picked blog. If we have time later, we'll come by and vote, but if not, I hope you understand.
The Verizon mess is sort of straightened out, but mom is still not happy. There's a popup about Java script every time she signs on, and it's annoying because it won't go away. The first guy she talked to told her over 700,000 accounts had been disabled, due to a breach in security, so hers was one of them. The second guy told her that her computer has a virus, in spite of the fact that we have Kaspersky installed, which is one of the best antivirus thingies out there. Since she had no problems with the rest of the computer, BC, AOL, she figured the first guy was right and the second guy not so much.
In case you missed the buzz yesterday, the vet found nothing broken, but Falco has a huge wound on her side, possibly one she picked open when her leg was hurting. Mom can't see anyplace in the cage where she could have injured herself that badly. It's about 2 cm of open wound, with the skin that far apart. She said it would make no sense to try to stitch it, so just to apply a topical ointment to the spot. She was pleased that Falco's leg is nearly healed, too. That wound was all around her leg, and is healed to about a 2 to 5 mm area of scabbing. Mom is putting the ointment on that, too. Falco is also taking oral antibiotics for 2 weeks, and has a follow up appointment next week.
Mom has an event to attend as a GUEST tonight at the center, how about that? Last year she was invited as a guest, but worked the event instead. This year, they told her to just come and enjoy.
It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood here today, lots of sun and warming as the day goes on. I hope you are having a good day and getting love and sunshine. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Is skinsis okay? Since she was released we assume so, but not pleasant to have to be in the hospital.

What a lot of running around your mom and Nana did. Our parronts were out and about yesterday too. However mom was done by early afternoon and then dad took himself to another store mom didn't want to go to so she caught up on some food network shows. They'd left the house a lil after 8 (since Target is open) and then visited the new Sprouts (organic fresh grocery) location and took the fresh veggies/fruit home and then had to wait until almost 10 for Sears to open. Dad needed some jeans and they had to check all the stack to find two pairs in his size with the correct length.

Let's hope those picky eater cousins of yours eats the pellets Nana bought. We only like the natural type and has to be small.

Temps are still low 80s for us but today we'll see if we get any of that forecasted rain.

Yes, visitors should always greet the older fids (or other pets) first. It is their right as the ones there the longest. No problems with us since we're the only ones but understand how Dixie and Kallie would be annoyed at being ignored for a pretty face.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Today when mom tried to sign on to her Verizon account, she couldn't do it. It kept cycling onto the intro page and wouldn't let her proceed. She tried changing her password, too, but that didn't work either. Anyway, she called Verizon and is waiting for a call back. But it took valuable time, since today is my vet appointment.
Yesterday mom took Falco to the center and the staff up there found much more wrong with her leg! They advised mom to call the vet and get her there, so that's what mom doing today. The appointment is at 1:30 and mom is just feeling horrid about not knowing it was so bad.
Falco hasn't been spending time with her like she used to, but mom thought she just was upset about her wing clip. Instead, now she thinks Falco's been in pain for over 2 months, and she is kicking herself for not doing something sooner.
We are hoping they can do something for her leg, though.
I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of sunshine and love. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
The rooms in the house that got flooring replaced were all tile type and all that glue and stick 'em. The linoleum was a sheet cut to size and where it had to be pieced can now tell. Still, no big rush but know it wouldn't take too long as the other rooms were done quickly.

Hopefully that bad behavior of Kallie's isn't repeated next time skinbro visits as wouldn't be fun for either of 'em. Poop off wipes are the best. So much easier to use and know is safe for us birds.

Hmmmm, neither parront ever had an issue with direct deposit but know if a payment were missed that it could take awhile for 'em to fix and no one wants to wait for their paycheck. Used to be that mom's work would receive paychecks on Fri but didn't always receive 'em in the morning. When they switched to a Thu delivery for Fri distribution made it so much better. Nothing worse than arriving on Fri and find out the checks hadn't arrived yet. Such a waste of time to have to return. Now with direct deposit no worries.

The fires are not anywhere near us. Many are north of us and sure hope they get all of 'em out soon. So sweet of you to worry.

  Hi Peepers
Mom had a meeting today at the museum, so we are just getting online now. It was mostly about teaching new docents the rest of the halls. Mom had 2 years of training, but the docents who were hired in the spring only had training either in Dinosaur hall or in 3 cultures. Now they are worried that the new folks can't do tours in the rest of the museum. Anyway mom signed on to teach ecosystems, biomes, and animal adaptations, as well as possibly PA natural history. Hope they can use her expertise in some way or other.
Bree came by to do our birdicures yesterday and while she and mom were talking, mom mentioned that Falco is not as active with her as she used to be, and that she hasn't really wanted a bath for awhile either. Bree looked at her injured leg and she thinks Falco might still have a fractured fibula, the little bone in the leg. So mom called Jill today to see if she can look at Falco and give her opinion, and maybe some vet wrap too.
I hope you are having a good day today, getting a lot of love and sunshine. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Our temps dropped to the low 80s yesterday and should go down more today, hopefully to the 70s as that is our ideal. 64 is rather cold but at least your mom was inside and keeping busy getting the floor to shine. Can't get ours to shine as it is linoleum and needs replacing but lasted a long time.

Good to hear the Kallie was behaved but then skinbro wasn't there. Have to see how he behaves next time the entire family is in attendance. Dried corn goo is kinda hard to get off, but is it ever so yummy to eat.

Took a long time before mom's work offered the direct deposit. So much easier to have that as don't have to worry about it or waiting for the funds to be available. Good for your mom to keep track of how much is being used each month to not overspend and know she's always getting those bargains to stretch the budget.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a voter, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Today Bree is coming for our birdicures. This morning mom cleaned the outdoor RVS pens for the first time in awhile. There are 2 adult coyotes out there in separate pens as well as 22 raccoons! Good thing the raccoons are social and don't mind sharing quarters, because the center doesn't have 22 cages out there! They can be housed in a few large cages, but those are real bears to clean, so it took mom over 2 hours for all the outdoor areas today. Still, it was nice to be out in the sun, even if it was cooler than we like.
I don't think we'll get out today, because it's not very warm again. In fact, it looks like it's gonna be cool all week long. I hope you are having better weather, getting some warm sunshine and especially getting lots of cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Even though temps were cold it is nice that the sun was out. That always makes the day feel less dreary as can always dress warmly. We went down a couple more degrees so just barely 85 here and hope to return to the 70s soon. Good to get all the vacuuming and cobwebs and the like done. Hopefully not to much mess when your mom wants to mop. It is easier if no one else is home so it can dry.

Gosh, such bad behavior from Kallie. Glad he didn't bite hard enough to break the skin but he deserves being in lockdown. Not sure if he could smell Trixie II or not unless there were some feather bits on skinbro?

The BBQ meal sounds awesome and great to send skinsis home with some goodies so she won't have to cook too much. We know the flock will decimate the corn on the cob that stuff is just delish.

When the parronts got married they each had a checking account so they just kept 'em and added each others names. So whoever name is on top it is their account so each has access if need be. Mostly mom writes all the checks and dad just signs if his and mom if hers. Auto deposit makes things so much easier with not having to make a trip to the bank. Or going to work on a day off to pick up said check as mom used to do.

  Hi Raffi
We just can't imagine moving all that stuff out, especially all those magazines. Mom used to keep magazines, then she realized she already read them, why hang onto them? So now she recycles them by mailing them to friends, taking some to the center for everyone there to enjoy, leaving some at the vet's office, etc.
Today mom was up super early to feed us and the dogs, then get to an event on time. She thought she would have time to walk the furballs, but she didn't, so she's going to walk them when we are done with our blogs. The event was called Wild Rumpus, and there were 2 obstacle courses, one for adults that was 5km, and one for kids that was considerably shorter, as it was all in a field with a hill on it. There weren't as many people as mom thought there would be, but it was not well advertised and was competing with at least 2 other local events. It was damp and cool out, but mom was mostly dressed for the weather. She refused to wear real shoes, though, so her feet got cold in her sandals. Twitch the squirrel was pretty cute, though. He ate a couple of Brazil nuts which mom gave him as a challenge. She thought it would take him awhile to get through the shell into the nut, but he surprised her with his quickness.
I hope you are having a good day today, staying warm and getting cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
Hmmm, mom can't recall if the bank asked if she wanted temp checks. Probably did but she wouldn't have used 'em since dad still had checks for his account. The parronts trade off paying the bills.

Hopefully skinbro is keeping track of his earnings just in case and also paying a bit in taxes so he isn't having to pay later.

So many on the east coast are reporting that temps have fallen. Many have had to use heat already. We are still warm but temps did drop slightly and hopefully today sees it go down more.

Good to get all that work moving all the magazines, doing chores etc but think today the parronts need to take it easy. There are days when one just wants to stay home.

  Hi Peepers
Mom walked the dogs in the rain today, but the showers are supposed to end soon. We'll see, the weather guessers are usually wrong. Mom had to pull out capris and shirts with sleeves for today. It's pretty cool out, high 50s, and not expected to do much better as the day goes on. Mom has public tours today in dinosaur hall, and she's hoping to cut her tour time to a real mini tour today, between 35 and 40 minutes. We'll see...
Tomorrow mom will be working the Wild Rumpus event for the wildlife center. She will be taking care of Twitch the squirrel. He won't be the only one there, though. There will be at least 4 animals and their handlers throughout the obstacle course. This is the first time they've done this, so mom doesn't know quite what to expect, except for 5 hours outdoors and minding Twitch.
We'll let you know tomorrow afternoon what happened.
By the way, Twitch is the perfect example of why people shouldn't keep wildlife in their homes. He came to us after being kept as a 'pet' in a small cage for over a year. He was really fat, his tail is twisted irreparably, and he has metabolic bone disease from not being fed the proper diet growing up. He's called Twitch because of his seizures, as well. The poor boy is destined to be an education animal for as long as he lives, instead of being a healthy outdoor squirrel.
Hope you are having better weather than we are, more sun, more heat... And I hope you will get lots of cuddles today, too. Hugs, Willie

  Hi, Peepers
That ordering check thing happened to our mom too. She actually went to the mini bank (inside the grocery store) and had a hooman order the checks. Well, after a couple of weeks and they didn't arrive she went back to inquire and they had to reorder 'em. What a pain in the tailfeathers as she had actually run out.

That doesn't sound good for skinbro. Hope he's keeping track of what he's earned so he can estimate his taxes and that he can find a job that pays correctly and has better working conditions.

Would be great to meld our two temps. Think it would make a very nice 70s with enough sun to be outside. Know that your time outside is shrinking with less sun and the cool breeze.

We'll fly over to Dixie and Kallie's pages to see the other turkey pics.

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

Come visit me, Pearl & Silver.

  Hi Peepers
Little known football fact:

After spending all day Sunday watching football games on television, a man falls asleep in his recliner, spending the entire night. His wife woke him in the morning. "It's twenty to seven," she called..... "In whose favor?"

  Hi Peepers
I bet Nana has had it with those turkeys, but we think they are cute. Of course, they are not in our gardens.
At the eye docs yesterday the doctor was telling mom she found out which animal was getting into her garden. Mom had told her it was likely a raccoon or ground hog, from the damage to the plants she was describing a few weeks ago. Well, it turned out to be a groundhog, but a little one who was turning his head sideways and getting into the chicken wire fence by twisting his head and body around. Those animals are so clever!
We got a reprieve on the talons, it was a busy day at the center, and Bree had to be somewhere else in the early afternoon. So we're safe until next week.
Mom went to the center today and got there just in time to see the USDA inspector arrive. They pop in periodically to check on the animals and the cleanliness of the building. Guess what he found wrong? A cobweb in the upper corner of the possum cage and some thistle seed(finch food) spilled on a storage can lid in the kitchen! Talk about picky! Anyway the center passed with flying colors, he even complimented us on how well the animals looked.
Mom cleaned the RVS room again today, then went on to the the birds, cleaning the raptor aviaries, the small flight aviary, the main aviary, and the screech owl's enclosure in the other building. It was a very busy day, but mom feels she got a lot done.
I think she plans to read today, using her new glasses. It will be a good day for that, since it's much cooler today than it has been for awhile, only in the low 60s. I hope you are having a good day, getting lots of cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Peepers,
Thanks for getting back to me about the team! I appreciate you asking others too. You probably know a lot more members than I do, so that would help. Thanks again!

  Hi, Peepers
Sounds like another very busy day for the family. Good to get the results of skinsis back problems and hope the PT helps to strengthen and heal so it isn't hurting.

That's great you were able to get outside for a bit even if windy. Seems like the east coast is letting go of summer quickly while we on the west coast is still quite warm. Another near 90 day for us, but at least it does take awhile to warm up and still cool enough at night to leave the windows open. Too bad we also have bad air quality so hope that goes away soon.

Our mom was so grateful the laws were changed a few years ago wherein parronts could continue to cover their adult children until the age of 26 irregardless of whether kids were in college or not. Would've been very tough for skinsis to purchase health ins on her own as her fiance has had to do (he has his own business).

Think avoiding carrying anything heavy up or down stairs is a good idea for both parronts. Do not need either of 'em falling or getting any back issues or a hernia.

Thanks for posting the turkey pics. Never see that around here!

Have a great day, wing hugs and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hey Peepers
From The Desk Of The BEAN COUNTER....

Why do you have to "put your two cents in", but it's only a "penny for your Thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

  Hi Peepers,
Does Kallie already play for a team?? I saw here name
on one of the team's list but I did not see a picture for her. Please let me know if she already plays. We are trying to get a new team together but I don't want to take her away from the one she plays for. When I blogged you, I thought she wasn't on a team. Thanks!! (This is for basketball)

  Hi Peepers
Those turkeys sound awesome! The center released 5 turkeys on Tuesday.
Today mom had her final post op appointment with the eye doctor. She got a prescription for new glasses, and went straight to LensCrafters with it. Her new glasses were ready in about an hour, so she and her sister went to lunch, then went back to pick up the glasses. Then they went shopping for shoes, and stopped and looked at some clothes, too. So now they are back, and mom is finally getting to our blogs. Bree is coming to do birdicures either today or tomorrow, too. We are all ready to have our talons done, or at least mom is. She doesn't seem to appreciate the stabbing of her hand and arm that we are all willing to provide.
I hope you are having a fantastic day and getting lots of love and cuddles. Hugs, Willie
