 I turned a year old on 7-19-10. I'm a big boy now! Mom was looking on the Kijiji site for a breeder in the area and she found me! Mom and Dad traveled three hours to get me. They first named me Shasta because they thought I may be a girl but they found out I am a boy so they thought Teddy was a more fitting name for me. they say I am cuddly like a teddy bear.. |

Happy New Year!
Ichi and Kiwi here! We're tellin everyone now cuz Mom and Dad will probably be busy tomorrow. We got groomed today which none us of liked at all and gave Mom a few screeches about. But we got some good cuddles in too from Mom to make up for it. Abby gave Mom and Dad a surprise yesterday... while they were getting ready for the day, she said a naughty word! Abby is home!!!!!
She's a little nervous but she kept saying, "Hello" while my husband was talking on the phone earlier lol. Apparently, she likes talking at phones. She also cat called and made a beeper noise. A box of toys as well as even more donations arrived today for her, and she was quite pleased to have more toys and better food! I've got her in my bedroom right now where it's quiet and warm, and she's got a nice view of the creek behind our home. I am sooo grateful for everyone who's helped make this possible. It means so much that we got to be each other's Christmas present! So exciting!!!
We are waiting on just one more donation to arrive (should be here any time now) and Abby will be home! We are so surprised and grateful that so many people have helped us out, and I'm so anxious and excited to have her home finally. The goofy girl was quite pleased with herself on Saturday when I visited- her collar was taken off so that medicine could be put on the sore on her neck (from the collar rubbing against it), and the new collar that was put on was evidentally too short because she contorted enough to rip it to shreds! She was so happy with it off, tho she also ripped out her new feathers.... gotta work on that. That's my stubborn girl! She also tried to give me a hard time coming out of her cage, but this Momma was smart and wore layers of sweatshirts and my coat, and she couldn't bite thru it all so she gave in and came out! She sat on my lap again, that seems to be a favorite spot for her, and did some goofy dance and cat called at my husband lol.

We got another donation for Abby in yesterday, and few others should be in before the weekend. According to my estimated calculations, Abby should be home very soon. In fact we are thinking by Monday, but we'll let you know. Thanks for visiting her page, she's got a long road of recovery ahead of her.
My God, the kid shot the Grey? I have a 4 year old son, and a baby on the way... that's exactly why my kid doesn't even get a nerf gun! He's pretty good with the birds and loves them, keeps begging me for a Sun Conure lol, but still, that little, I don't trust them with potential weapons. IT'S LONG LOST FINN AGAIN

Sorry I haven't been in touch for awhile. Momma really got beheind over the summer. In fact, she was hardly ever on here except to vote for BOTD and congratulate the winners. Lots of company in the summer, you know. Even now, she doesn't blog nearly as much as she used to. She said it's the time factor.
For Momma's birthday, her youngest daughter gave her the gift of a website and named it birdmama.com. Momma loves it and has become a writing fool since August! It's mostly about us, her flock, and good info about us birds in general. If your Mom would like to get a reminder whenever my Momma posts a new article ( about 3x/wk), just have her send me her email address and Momma will put her on her list. She'll also delete as soon as she gets it. Momma loves to have new readers and loves comments, too. I think she's like it. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that we have a new flock memeber, a little 10 yr old half-moon conure. His real name is Blue, but Momma calls him BooBoo. THEY'VE HATCHED!! ALL SIX OF THEM!!
Oh Teddy,
I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. I feel so guilty for being so excited when you've had such saddness in your family. Was he a lineonated parakeet? Poor Jack. It makes people feel even worse to see their animals grieve. So sad.
This morning Mommy and Daddy went back out in the woods and there were SIX cygnets! They got to see Mr and Mrs Swan take them out for their first swim! It was just a little one to get their feet wet, so to speak. After about 5 to 10 minutes, Mrs Swan led them back to the nest. That was probably long enough to tire them out their first time. They are SO adorable! There are 2 pics below. In the first one you see Mr and Mrs Swan and four of the little ones, but in the second one, you see the Mama and all six of them. Oh, we're so excited! I just had to fly over and share the good news with you. THEY'RE HATCHING! THEY'RE HATCHING!!!
Oh Teddy, Just as Mommy was typing blogs this morning, Daddy came running in the house to get Mommy and said "Grab your camera and and hurry. They're hatching!" So away went Mommy and Daddy through the woods to see the new babies. There are only two so far, but there will probably be more. Daddy saw the Mama swan throwing egg shells out of the nest and that's when he saw the two little cygnets. He says that they will all hatch in one day. So by tonight the whole family should be there. Then maybe tomorrow or in a couple days they will parade up the river and onto our lake. That's when Mommy will be able to get some good shots of them. She couldn't get good ones today because they're hiding in the weeds, and you can only make out their shadows in the pics. She'll post one anyway. They are right there at the base of her neck. Oh, we're so excited!
That's really good news about Jack, that he's learning to like and trust men again. He sounds like a delightful bird, kinda like me! :) Well, I just had to fly over and share the good news with you. IT'S FINN AGAIN
Hi Teddy,
You're right, Jack sure does look like me, but is he as sweet tempered? Technically they are not "our" swans. We just call them that because they live on "our" lake and river. There are other people who also live on "our" lake. It's just a figure of speech.
We actually have a pair of wood ducks too, nesting in our big willow tree in the backyard where it hangs out over the water. (They are not technically "ours" either.) Wood ducks always nest that way. Then when the young hatch they push them out of the nest and they fall into the water. It's kind of a rude awakening, I'd say. "Welcome to the world...PLOP!" Maybe we'll get to see them this year. We have them all, ducks, geese and swans. But so far, none of the eggs have hatched yet. I guess it's still kind of early, but we had that gust of warm weather a couple weeks ago that made us think that spring had sprung. Well it has, but it's back to its usual slow pace. IT'S FINN AGAIN

Little Bobbie is doing really well. She's trying lots of different foods that Momma offers her. However, she won't eat the pellets...yet. Momma's tried both Harrison's and Roudybush. But hey, she's only been here a week tomorrow. We'll give her some time.
Our swans are still on their nest. In fact, when Momma went out there a couple days ago to check and see if the cygnets had hatched yet, both Mr and Mrs Swan were sitting on the nest together. So Momma took another pic of the two of them and put it on the bottom of my page. She walked out there again this morning to see if the cygnets had hatched yet, but still nothing. She's not taking any more pics until the babies arrive, which should be soon. We're excited. That's a pic of Bobbie and Mommy at the bottom of my page. Bobby is either a pearl or a pied cockatiel, with grey and yellow feathers and orange cheeks. Mommy doesn't want to put a page up for Bobbie because she says that she can't keep up with Finny's and my blogs now. Bobbie went to the vet yesterday and is a little underweight and in need of a better diet, which Mommy already knew, since she's been eating all seeds for 13 years. She's deficient in vitamins and minerals. The vet gave Mommy some supplements for her. She's learning to eat new things everyday. I think she's a happy birdie to be here. Squawk at you later. Thanks for the heads up, but when I went looking, I couldn't find myself! Are you sure it was me and not some other ekkie??
Guess what? We got another birdie! A friend of Daddy’s told us about a friend of his who wanted to find a good home for his bird because he traveled most of the time. So his little bird was home alone, sometimes for weeks on end. He wanted her to be happy and be with people. So Momma called the man and offered to adopt her. Momma and Daddy went to visit her on Saturday, and then Sunday, Momma picked her up. She’s a cockatiel and her name is Bobbie. She’s 13 years old and has lived with the same family since she was a little chick. So she’s going to have a bit of an adjustment. Momma is treating her really special, making her feel loved and wanted. I just wanted to let you know the good news. Hi Teddy, It was sooo good to hear from yall.My Mom took a closer look and found some numbers on my band. Unfortunately, I will not be still long enough for her to make out all of them. I guess we will just have to be patient until we can get them all! Any suggestions? Also, I wanted to ask your opinion on getting a video to teach me tricks or good behavior traits, does your humans do that for you(or to you)? This is their 1st time having a bird friend,and they are learning as they go!! The son,was the one who actually purchased me and for Some Strange reason,I DO NOT LIKE HIM!!! Glad that you were able to visit us, we have been rather depressed and waiting for news on some paper work. So I am basically stuck here until some day we have completed the entire process which take months almost a year. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that there is a man in Tacoma,WA that loves me just as equally. We are planning to get married this year and I have already invited his two brothers and their girl friends, whats going to end up happening is that most of his family is going to show up,lol! Greg has 9 brothers and 3 sisters, one brother past on a few years back though. IT'S HRG FINNEGAN AGAIN
Hi Teddy, oh boy, What a way to end my reign as BOTW! That was some party Friday night! We had so many birdies coming and going! And that Joey…what a character! He came in disguise with Chicklet and his island band with the steel drums and everything! He showed us how to limbo. You should have seen Floop. Why that big fellow could limbo with the best of them! He didn’t even touch the stick! I was pretty good, too, if I do say so myself! Everyone pretty much behaved themselves, too, and didn’t drink too much. And the food…why Lizzie and Kaji sure outdid themselves, and of course, SweerPepper made all that wonderful bread and muffins that she is so famous for, and the pies from the Pie Shop were right out of this world! Unfortunately, I was so busy meetin’ and greetin’ everyone that I didn’t get tot eat as much as I usually do, but I’ll make up for it yesterday. There were lots of great leftovers. Did you get to see the new Music Room that Floop donated to the castle? It’s great! What a gift! And then to top off a perfect evening, my own little fister, Princess Miss Lucy Blue, sat down at the piano and played a little Chopin for the remaining guests before they left. All in all, it was quite an evening that those in attendance won’t soon forget. I want to thank eryone who made my stay at the castle possible and SO memorable. Big Hugs from HRG Finnegan
