New Private Bird Club Website Sign Up & Info
Hi Every birdie! Squeaky's mom is working with two web designers to build a new and improved but similar bird club for us to play on since our beloved BC will be deleting our Bird eClub sometime this year! We need your support! So start nagging your parronts so we can stay together!
Basically, the more parronts that sign up, the cheaper the initial set up fee will be and also the annual fee to join the site. For more information and to sign up to participate please visit my page 28415 and leave an email address. Or you can email my mom, Sunny, directly at our email nubinskis@aol. com. She will send you all the up to date information that has been sent so far and she can answer all your questions. She also told me to tell you that all ideas and suggestions are most welcome. She also is hoping to find some parronts that have some expertise in working with advertisers and who would volunteer to get advertisers for the site. If that happens, costs would be next to nothing or maybe even nothing for all of us to play together.
So send your parronts to my page 28415 or email us to get information, leave suggestions and to sign up!
Hugs and Love to all! Squeaky, Picabo & Scion

  Hi Cori
That swim with sharks was in the Bahamas. The parronts were gone all day with 3 stops to snorkel. The last stop was the sharks. It was pretty far from land. Only 20 people on the boat wanted to do it. They put a container of chum in the water to attract them. It sure doesn't take long for them to show up. Then each swimmer goes in and grabs a rope they put out with a big float on the end. After the last person is in the water, they count 15 minutes and then the last person in is the first person out. My parronts were the first in and last out. By that time the sharks were swimming on the top of the water and knew they would get feed. That's when one big one jumped on the swim platform and just missed my dad's foot. Then the captain and crew (5) pushed him off. They started tossing fish out and everyone took pics of them feeding. My parronts didn't get any pics as the people shoved them back. So unfair as they were brave to go in.
Mom said it was like watching Nat Geo with them swimming in a frenzy near the bottom. One was really watching the swimmers. Near the end of the 15 minutes, one bumped mom's leg and that made her nervous. She said she was glad she did it but, won't do it again. After they were back home, shark week came on. Their captain was on the show and showed his arm ... what was left of it after being bitten by the sharks we swam with. The reef shark is #6 on the dangerous list. That was good mom didn't know that before.
We had rain in the morning and then a heat wave in the afternoon ...72 degrees with a little sun!!! Not much else new ... I did have a nice shower tonight.
Hugs

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
Glad you enjoyed your day outside!! I dont like sprayed but like the gentle rain to fall on me if I am outside in it and its nice and warm.
Today was grocery shopping day this morning for mom. Usually she just goes down the road and across the river into the town of Apollo (we actually live out of Apollo in Oklahoma Boro) and down River Road but this week the road is closed off. Mom had to go through the town of Vandergrift to the fruit stand on River Road then back track to the grocery store so it took her a bit longer. Traffic was heavier too because of the detour so mom was happy when she got back home and so was I!! “Life is not always a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes playing a poor hand well.“ Left a vote for you my friend~~ Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Cori
Well, Dad is home, and I am bummed. No more parading around the house on my mom's shoulder all day long. I did get my sunbath this morning, but then I lost Mom to a long call from the hospital while they took down every bit of data on her from the day she was born! What a pain, because then she left to go get her talons, I mean nails, done. I have her back home now, but after some mommy time I lost her to my blogging. That's right, now that Dad is home I sit in my room while she talks for me. Phooey!

And tomorrow she goes in to the hospital to get her tummy fixed, and I won't see her at all till some time on Thursday. Dad being here is no comfort at all, because let's face it....he's not Mom. She is leaving me extra food and extra water, but I will have to put myself to bed tomorrow night. And no blogging for who knows how long? So I will miss you all and think of me in my solitude and loneliness. Sure Dad will stick his head in and say hello, but it's Dad!

  Hello Cori~
I hope you are having a great day. It's very nice here. Cooled off and we still have sunshine!
I am taking over the 10K Hall of Frame page for a little while. We emailed Maxie's mom since we had not heard from them in a long time. As far as I know they are all okay but just really busy and not able to get on the BC right now. I just used Little Angel's shower page since we are done with that for now.
Not much going on today. I've been watching the people in the pool and watched them bring back the golf cart that the office people use to take people around the complex. It must have been broken because they brought it back on a tow truck.
Lots of Halloween stuff coming into mom's store. Tons and tons of candy. They say that Snickers fun size bars are the most popular kind of candy mom's store sells. Dad likes them but not mom. She likes the 3rd most popular which is Reese's peanut butter cups! In between that is the tootsie roll candies. They sure do sell a whole bunch of candy this time of the year! They put it out early so that everyone will buy some, eat it and have to come back for more!hehehehehehe
I hope the day is just perfect! Stomping out a vote and sending hugs your way!
Love ya ~ Sugar

Day 19--The Gathering at the River
Yeehaaaaw; Chuey here with a Cattle Drive update. We've been watchin' some would be rustlers whilst the herd was running full out towards the Red River. Trustin' that my wranglers had everything under their control I sat a while and simply watch and listen. The herd slows as it nears the water, as the foamy wet horses breath deeply catchin' a breath after miles of gallopin' all out to keep up with them dawgies.
There's many a peril on the long western trails, from snakes to rustlers, but none is as deadly as the Red River Crossing. Historian Andy Adams described Doan's Crossing:
"Red River, on the northern border of Texas, was a terror to trail drivers. The majestic grandeur of the river, with its red bluff banks, the sediment of its red waters marking the timber along its course, while the driftwood, lodged in trees and high on the banks, indicated what might be expected when she became sportive or angry. The crossing had been in use only a year or two when we forded, yet five graves, one of which was less than ten days made, attested her disregard for human life. It can safely be asserted that at this and lower trail crossings on Red River, the lives of more trail men were lost by drowning than on all other rivers together. Doan was the last town before entering Indian Territory and was the last spot where US inspectors were stationed to inspect herd brands before allowing them to enter Oklahoma.
"The thundering of the herd could be herad clear to Doan and beyond, the dust cloud arriving before the thristin' herd. I figured I'd better get moseyin' along, and keep check on the rustlers later, as the wranglers might be needing me, and the birds to get them back from the water before they drank themselves to death. We creep out real quiet-like and urged our mounts into a gallop and caught up just shy of Doan.
" Boss, what's up with the rustlers?" Sky asked riding fast to catch up
"They ain't movin no where fast, so we left'em settin' and joined back up to bring these dust-bags under control again." Chuey wiped sweat from her forehead with her bandanna.
" Pookie and Snowy have rode up front to cut them back before they hit the water full-out" Cookie yells as he races past on Thunderbolt. " Spot and Chipper are guarding the remuda, to try to keep the horses in check."
The sign for Doan's store whipped pasta s the herd started to pull to a stop atthe river edge, heads down, gulpin' water up like a sponge. " Sugar, Sweetie! Cut them two cows back before they drop dead from over drinkin"" Panther yelled trying to get a red checked bull back into the herd without much success. As the dust began to settle, we could see that the herd had spread out over a mile of river bank in both directions. It would take a lot of skill, energy, and work to gather them back into a herd. Quick horse changing, with Peppino and BonBon saddling and ropin our mounts expertly to keep us movin them Long horned devils back in place.

Did you have a good time chasing bugs off mom? That sounds like fun. We go outside in travel cages, though, so I wouldn't be able to do it.
Not much going on here, Mom saw a movie last night called the 100 Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren. It was a really good movie, but she and Gin saw it at 6:30, before dinner, and it made them both really hungry. It was all about 2 restaurants across the street from each other! Anyway, after the movie, they went to the Thai restaurant to eat dinner, which was delightful. That was Ginny's birthday gift--mom was teasing her because her birthday was at the beginning of June, so mom said she could finally end the celebration! Today looks like a pool day, so we won't have mom this afternoon, but once she gets home, she's ours and we might even get outside for awhile. I hope you are having a good day with lots of cuddles and good weather. Hugs, Falco

My parronts swam with reef sharks a few years ago. They chum the water and then put you in! There were over 50 plus sharks and they were from 6 to 10 feet long. Mom said it looked like Nat Geo until you remembered that you were in the water with them! They leave you out there for 15 minutes and then you have to come in. Dad was the last one in and a shark jumped on the huge swim platform and almost got dad's foot!!! Mom says NEVER again!
Well, we made it to 73 today but it was dark and gloomy. Looks like t-storms for Tuesday and Wednesday. Hello? Summer, where are you?

That is funny and something mom might do with her blogging too LOL Mom is crocheting between blogs again tonight so it’s a slow one!! Today this other toy that plays music and makes sounds when you push the buttons quit working. I didn’t get all upset about it like I do when my jungle talk toy breaks. Of course I cant make it work as easy either so don’t play a whole bunch with it. Mom did change the batteries in it for me and now it talks a lot louder too. Mom says she might have to start getting a job as the walmart greeter just to keep me in batteries LOL. “Life is not always a matter of holding good cards, but sometimes playing a poor hand well.“ Left a vote for you my friend~~ Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Cori
This is the last week for the pool to be open its regular hours. Next week all the guards have to go back to school, so the pool won't open until 3:30.
Today when mom went to the center, she had to work the reception desk because of the surgery. She prefers not to get anything near her eyes yet, until at least the second follow up visit to the eye doc this coming Friday. She also folded lots of towels and blankets, and did some of the dishes until her shift was up. It's more fun working with the animals, but every little bit helps up there.
Tonight mom is going to see a movie (100 step journey, maybe?) and have dinner with Aunt Ginny. This is a very late birthday gift for Gin, her birthday is in June. She just couldn't pick a movie til now. Anyway that's mom's plan for the evening, but we'll be in lockdown. I hope you are having a good day today, seeing some beautiful summer weather where you are, and getting scritches and cuddles. Hugs, Falco

  Day 18--Red River's calling
Phew what a long night. Keepin' watch on them Rustlers, and holdin' the herd close is a job, especially when they smell water. These Long-horned varmints can smell water for miles and when they do, it's a job to keep them from stampeding. With the comin' of mornin' we are still hankered down watching them, keepin' the rustlers under close eye.
Leaving the herd under the care of my trusty cow-hands, they're up and movin by first light. We're headin' to Doan today,at the Texas-Oklahoma line and our first difficult river crossing. Corwin Doan settled at the crossing back in 1878 and built his homestead there in 1881. Doan had a large stock of goos to supply the cowboys who annually drove cattle along the Western Trail. The village of "Doan't Crossing" had 14 or more buildings. Doan, his wife Liddie (1850-1905), and their 3 children entertained people from all walks of life - English lords to Indians - in theirs adobe house. In fact it is estimated more then seven million head of cattle and horses made this difficult crossing between 1876 and 1893.
"You all better head back to the herd," Chuey instructed, " Kiddo, Jenny-Lynn, TiPaul and Cori, you stay hankered down here and keep watch."
"Ok Boss" Boo Boo exclaimed sneakin' back all quiet like to where our horses have been ground hitched.( reins left hanging from the bit, used when horses might be needed to make a quick escape). The others rode back to the south of where the rustlers where hidden out to pervent their horses getting wind of them and tippin' them off.
"I'm goin' sneak up closer to get a better look, see if I ain't able to hear what they have up their sleeve." Chuey crouched down low and worked her way silently towards boulders not more then 50 yards from where the rustlers sat drinkin; their coffee and eattin' grub.
Sugar, Polly, Zippy, Moggie and Susan where riding point today, but the herd was itchin to run from the get-go. They kept turnin' the anxious cows back into the herd. The whole mass of cattle began to trot as they caught wind of the river ahead. Cinn-A-Bun, and Chyna rode from the drag to talk to the Point riders.
"We might as well give'em head and let'em run, we are can't keep them in and the out-riders are spending their time cutting strays back in. If we don't they're goin' a break anyways and we'll be chasing them to the Red anyways."
"You're right, tell the others to pull out a ways and give them their head." Sugar told them
Cinn-A-Bun went to the south side and Chyna took up the north and rode by to tell the others to pull a ways off and let'em run. The herd picked up it's pace as the smell of water grew stronger in their nostrils. Suddenly the lead cow took off on the run, with the others moving like a massive dusty wave over the ground. The sound of pounding hooves would be heard clear to Doan and beyond.
We're in for a fix of troubles now I'd say, sures hope they can get the herd back from the water in time.

We have had tons of jays around lately, more than normal. The cardinals are here everyday too. This spring, we had robins and we usually don't see them in the woods. The Baltimore Orioles stayed a long time in spring too.

I think and so does my Mom that your sweet Mom needs to get away for awhile she's just been working way too hard all by herself, how awful for the cat to pee all over the carpet like that? That is so hard to get out too!Mom always takes things back if they don't smell right or if they were broken like that jar was,it wasn't your sweet Mom's fault,Mom has even brought milk back that she had bought and told the clerks at customer service to take a whiff of that and they back away and put it in a bag and put it somewhere to take away,Mom has brought back meat that smelled bad when she opened the package,Nana has brought back oranges that were in a bag and one was really rotten! You paid good money for these things, why throw it away when you can have your money back, just bring your receipt with you,but the item must have their store number or name on it somewhere!Mom brought back the ground chicken carton that the seagulls devoured right there in the parking lot on her and they gave her the money back for that, they packaged it wrong! The gulls ate it in minutes flat!No one wanted to touch the carton, but they took it back and Mom got her money back!
Oh how uncomfortable for your poor Mom to have your dad not understanding! Our hearts go out to your poor Momma! Please give her all our love right down to Nana and my Mom and all of us too!

Just one more reason to protect the whales. Every niche in the ecological chain is important, even the icky ones like bugs.

It sure is hot here, and so thankfully Mom got me outside for my sunbath at 9. Any later and it would have been too hot. Instead it was just perfect, and we had a two nutriberry sunbath.

Then by 10 Mom was on her way to the hospital. She was lucky and found a parking spot in the shade although that meant a long walk in the sun (much worse walking back out at 1). She figures that is her exercise for the day, because they moved Dad down to the 1st floor last night (a good thing; a general room), and he is at the far end of the hospital now. He actually got some sleep last night, because they don't come in to do tests every two hours now. And they went for a nice long walk all around the hospital and then down to the cafeteria for a hamburger and fries. Dad carted his IV stand along with him, and he was in a gown and jeans so they knew he was a patient. The nutritionist came out and asked his name before she would let him eat. The burger was mostly for Mom, anyway that is what they told them. Dad had a couple of bites though, and about half the excellent curly fries. That's right the hospital cafeteria actually has good food!! Too bad they don't cook the patient's meals there. The family doc came by while Mom was there and assured them Dad would be able to come home by Tuesday, since Mom will be in surgery on Wednesday and obviously can't pick him up that day!

And now I am continuing my impersonation of a good bird and sitting quietly on Mom's knee while she blogs. This is four days in a row, and Mom is loving it. I hope she isn't too surprised when I go back to misbehaving!!

Hi Cori & Wilbur, from Jenny Lynn
...and now we move on to whale poop, what an interesting life your mom must live, always with something new to tell us about! We are having a warmer day but slightly overcast, not a big deal, but more humid as well! Dad said the Bird Club meeting went very well, lots of member participation and tons of beautiful parrots, not all of which were well mannered! As you all know, we love our Sundays, to us they represent peace, worship, and family friendship, we already knew that, but it was Angel Christy who really taught us the meaning of this special day, she knew! Have a great day and give our love to all in your peaceful Sunday home, see ya tomorrow...

Much love from Jenny, & the Dallas family

  Hi Cori
What blankets? I think you're thinking of Aunt Jinky.
Thanks for the whale info, that is certainly something we never thought about.
Today is one of those weird Pittsburgh weather days. It was raining when mom walked the dogs this morning, but not raining hard. Then it cleared up momentarily, now it's back to cloudy and kind of dark again. The weather guessers are saying a slight chance of thunderstorms, but really? They don't know, we suspect.
If it's nice, mom will head to the pool for awhile, but if it's not, she will catch up on laundry again. She didn't get our cages wiped off the other night, because she was so groggy from the surgery, so maybe she'll get that done today as well. We will get lots of mom time today, either way. Hope your day is filled with sunshine and cuddles. Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Kaji, TiPaul, and Sky for 10k!, Peppino, Divo, welcoming his old buddy Tooth home & Falco, fly free, Tooth.

Day 17--Keepin' watch on the Rustlers
WHOA there Cutter, we have to stop and post our daily Cattle Drive update. I must say, driven cattle ain't for the weak or faint of heart. It takes a real Bird to sit that saddle 12-14 hours a day, 6 to 7 days of the week. Queen Zeena sent word, that we are headin' for another rain shower before we make Doan, on the Red River. That ain't good news, ain't good at all. I be tellin' why.
" Kiddo and Finnegan comes barrelin' in from the hill country with word that we goin' be havin' company right soon. Jenny-Lynn and her side-kick Sweetie are keepin' watch from a safe distance, keepin' tabs so to speak on them rustler-type birds. The others have taken cover in the hills surrounding their news camp, watching, waiting least they make the decision to try to run off some of our herd during the night-watch."
"Boss, what we goin' do bout them rustlers?" TiPaul asks pushing his hat back on his head.
"Don't rightly know. They ain't done anything yet so we best be watching them, and tendin' to our own business along the trail." Chuey says before slapping Cutter on the flanks to get him off in a quick run.
"Cori, Boo Boo and Peppino, come along with me. We're gonna go take us a better look at these rustlers." Chuey finishes as she dashes past at a fast trot.
"Silver, you and Raffi, take first watch. Keep a good eye on the back of the herd. We gotta keep 'em tight tonight. No strayin'" Chuey stops for a moment then moves on.
Dixie, Jedi, and Snowflake see Chuey and the others comin' from a distance, and ride out to meet them. They exchange a few words before turning their horses in the detection that Finnegan said he saw the riders bedded down. In camp Sugar, Kacey, Sweetpepper and Celine saddle up their night horses preparing to start their shift as night-hawks. Swinging up into the saddle Sweetpepper takes one last parting look at the warm fire burning n the camp before she and Sugar begin their watch. The four riders head in the direction of the herd, listening all the while for any unusual happens in the far distant hills.
" I sure hope there ain't no troubles tonight" Lizzie says to Kaji and Falco sitting by the fire. " we been lucky so far to have not encountered any troublin' situations."
"we're ready for them, if those rustlers wanta try taken our herd" Angel says out loud,
"We're a bad group to tangle with." Chipper adds "Cydney, why don't ya come sit for a spell, no sense in wearin' your legs out."
The Scouts, with Chuey and the others ride down-wind of the hidden camp so as not to alert the horses to their presence. They stop at a safe distance and ground-tie their horse, as they creep closer for a better look."
" home, home on the range, where a cow-bird is watchful all day, lest he falls asleep while countin' his sheep, and a rustler runs off with his herd."
